This act of kindness
This reminded me of my own personal experience. When I was in college, there was a homeless man who I passed nearly every day. He was there all four years I was in school. He was wrapped tightly in his sleeping bag during the winter, and wore the same green worn down dirty shirt during the summer. Sometimes, someone would sit down next to him and feed him. I never did. I guess I was scared. Now, I would want to ask him a million questions.
Two years later when I drove across the country, I stopped at a Pizza Hut express. They messed up my order and gave me an extra pizza for my troubles. God knows I couldn't eat it if I tried. So as I walked outside and I gave it to the guy outside the door begging for change. He smiled, I smiled. Sure, he could have been lazy, a druggy, a criminal, but who cares, he was hungry.
These acts of kindness make us human. They make me smile. Try it one day. If they don't make you smile, they sure make others smile.
