For my 3,000th post I have decided, like many others before me, to start a thread, but what sort of thread?
I thought and thought and thought and thought some more and came up with this.
What little things have caused you to remember someone? Something seemingly insignificant that sends you down the road of the past. Something that is ordinary to everyone else, but means the world to you.
I’ll start.
A month or so ago I was having breakfast with my Dad and while we were waiting I noticed a lady at the other table who was wearing flip flops.
The woman was nothing special, but for the rest of my time there I couldn’t stop looking at her flip flops.
A woman that I love/loved loved flip flops. She wore them everywhere. It always amused me because I never went anywhere without socks and shoes. In my practical world one never knew when one might have to go traipsing out into the woods, or find oneself in a downpour.
Because of her I went out and bought a pair of flip flops and now I wear them all the time!
In fact, I was wearing them at breakfast with my Dad. The man who instilled in me to always be prepared. The man, when he picked me up, remarked I was wearing flip flops.
I ate breakfast while slipping in and out of my flip flops and remembering the woman who changed my practical ways simply because of her love of flip flops and my want to be closer to her.
Remembering the good things in a relationship is sometimes hard once it ends, but it’s these little things that creep up that always make me smile.
Anyone else have similar stories to share?
