thoughts go out to all those affected

What amazed me was people standing on a bridge as the water rushed through underneath, I don't know about you but that's what I call foolhardy, that bridge could have been swept into the maelstrom at any minute
incredible wasn't it? still, shock does strange things to people and idiots are idiots wherever they live in the world.

gotta go, annie. x

Is it true that Japan is now closer to America and the world has moved on it's axis?!

The quake moved the main island, Honshu, about eight feet closer to America, and the entire world moved on its axis about four inches. It was a significant event, but nothing unusual in geological terms. As I've been saying, another such event will occur somewhere else on the planet in the relatively near future, you can be sure.

I wish I hadn't watched that now, the guy driving away at the beginning didn't have much chance of getting away from that

It's astounding how harmless that first little wave of water seems, then the torrent begins. The sound is so awful too, cars crashing into things a buildings cracking as the float free.

Absolutely horrific.

Yes there are always those people who are so fascinated by natural disasters that they'll put themselves in harm's way. I went to high school with a guy like that and was sot of not surprised when I heard years later that he'd been swept off a bridge during a hurricane. Sad but true.

And I just heard on our news here that 51 house Republicans in our House of Representatives voted today against funding that would (among other things) discontinue the US Tsunami Warning Service. Great huh?

It's disturbing, but I think everyone needs to be aware of how bad things can get, if for no other reason than to prepare themselves and those they care most about for possible catastrophes they may have to deal with in their own lives.

I was already aware it's like somebody on facebook sent me the most horrific video about car crashes every damn thing babies as well ..... made me sick to my stomach

I wouldn't compare a car crash with a 9.0 earthquake or the resulting tsunami. I found the video informative and instructive. Sorry you didn't.

I never said that and any loss of life is going to affect me in the same way, I put no restrictions on causes
