They looked to the painting before them each of them in turn placing broom or dagger before the full length painting. Their next circle around the painting they began to place the items from the painting. The skirt the vase the flowers preparing the items in their proper place mirroring the painting near the dressing screen.

Is everything else in place?

A voice called from the shadows as an woman stepped forward seeming guided by a leopard.

Yes... He has returned... the dreams have led him home and the moon nears to her reawakening. It stands at 2 nights out.

The old woman nodded you have all done well. I will go now... it will take time to find her on the other side and guide her back.

With that the old woman walked forward vanishing before she neared the mirrored arrangement and the feline passed through the material and they were both gone.

The old woman was neither dead nor alive but she could pass between the veil to the edge of the realm of death. Mortals at times would call something like this purgatory but it was far from that. A place of emptiness and banishment a place that darkness seeks to seal those that can do it harm. She had to find her. Had to guide her back the full moon finally fell in the anniversary of her banishment into this death and now she could be guided back. The full moon carrying too much light for the forces that banished her at the point of death to walk the realms.

He had been reborn... at long last. Perhaps the soul had been too lost without her or maybe the creatures of death had not seen fit to let him loose till now. They could have simply not run across him before. She would look into that at a later time it was time to find her and wake her. Guiding her back to the resting place of her body was top priority.

The leopard walked the mist sniffing the air till it growled low stopping near what appeared to be a cave till it closed its yawning maw. The old woman simply dismissed it and continued walking till she found the shimmering image and reached a hand to it as it reached a hand back to her.

Child it is my time he will guide you back follow only the leopard and speak to no one till you find your body and awaken. The time has come. There is much you have to do still within the world of mortals. Go now... I... I must rest.

Everything was prepared in the house now to make sure that he saw the house now that he was transferring to a new city and a new job. The Realtor was one of the sisterhood and ready to make sure that he continued remembering and that the house was the only one that was an option for his mind. Including calling him at just the right moment by his name when he was there before so long long ago.

Adam sat in his car, waiting for the realtor to arrive. The last few weeks had been insane, it had stemmed from the old woman he bumped into in the pharmacy. He had been collecting a prescription for tablets to relieve his headaches, the woman had come from nowhere and walked straight out in front of him, luckily the collision was soft and he held the woman upright. The upshot was that the pills had worked because he didn't recall the headaches after that point. From there things got even better. The new job offer in the new town was out of the blue, the wages were better and he couldn't refuse.
Adam's house search only showed a single property in the area, an older place set in a wooded area that even backed onto a forested area. He had always loved the idea of such a house and knew he had to look. The realtor had been so helpful and hinted that he could be lucky. This was so unusual, Adam smiled at the changes in his luck!

When the car pulled up he stepped out to greet the woman, her suit perfect and her smile broad. He reached to shake her hand "I'm Adam" he smiled "I know" she replied knowingly

As they walked up to the house Adam gazed around, the trees seemed vibrant - colours standing out and almost shimmering. The only exception was one tree, older possibly but it seemed diseased. In stepping over the threshold he felt a warming sensation. He stopped, almost light headed and shook his head "Home" he muttered. "I'm sorry?" the realtor turned to him. "I feel like I'm home" he said "yes, I want the house" he knew at that moment he could see himself there. "there are others interested..." the realtor looked concerned "I don't care do whatever it takes" he looked at her determined.

Did he see her smile then? The realtor smiled again this time he saw her. "Of course, but do you want to see the rest of the house?" Adam smiled back "no, its perfect"

I have to d my job Adam...

She laughed.

Lets just walk around there are some very unique features to the house. All of the furnishings have been here since it was built. One family owned for over a century but only one family from that line that I know of have ever actively lived in it. Others have lived here. Family friends or visiting family but never long term. There is allegedly a cat that lives on the grounds from the family line of cats first born here as well.

She had her reasons she had to guide him to the screen and the items around it. Where he had painted her... he would find the painting in time but baby steps for now till she returned. She placed the call informing her secretary to proceed with bids on the house they had the perfect buyer ready to move in.

Adam laughed "of course, I'm sorry, it's just......the house feels....." he shook his head and smiled "familiar, comfortable, I don't know" he felt like he was grinning like a fool.

He followed, paying attention to her all the way, when led to the back rooms the realtor paused, "this door sticks a little" she said and stepped close in "push then lift" he said, he knew that was what the door needed, but had no reason to know why he knew it. They stepped in and he gasped, the screen sat at one end of the room, the items sat waiting. The layer if dust covering them made him question why they were there. "this belongs here" he whispered then stepped in closer "not this though" he lifted a porcelain figure, left by the realtor as a test and turned to her. "this doesn't belong"

The previous resident found it creepy much like they found this room for some reason. Place it wherever you like Adam it is all yours once everything goes through.

She smiled moving from the doorway so he could go and place it wherever he felt it should go. She was curious where he thought it would go. She knew where it was in the house but would he remember or was it just knowing it did not go in the private parlor. Her phone ringing drew her from watching him as she answered.

Yes... that is wonderful... I will let him know... thank you I will be back in the office later. Adam. The house is yours. The owners are pleased with your offer and have taken our offer. Whenever you can just drop by my office to sign the paperwork. Welcome home Adam.

With that she turned and headed towards the door to leave the house so that he could get arranged and settled.

He stood, the room empty and the words ringing in his ears "Welcome home Adam"

The figure in his had, a small thing, a figure of a woman. He moved to the screen, adjusting it carefully. He placed the vase to the side and stood back. A feeling came over him, something was missing - he knew somehow it was in the house. He sat, cross legged on the floor, his mind wandering. "maybe its the room" he muttered and stood.

Adam looked about the room and sighed, he felt at peace, something that he had wondered if he could feel. He placed the figure in his pocket and turned to leave the room, he knew there would be time to figure out the best place for the screen soon. It was not normal practice to keep the belongings left in a property but he knew in his deep being that these things belonged there as much as he did, they simply fitted.

He walked through the house, carefully taking in the property. Stepping out onto the wooden deck area at the back he breathed in deeply, an aroma of the woods hit him and brought a smile to his face. His hand strayed to the figure in his pocket, then he saw it. A movement in the house, he turned expecting to see the realtor, but the room was empty

The Realtor informed the others that he was in the house and had already noted things out of place and activation was not as difficult as expected as it appeared his name was once more Adam as it was back then. She had noticed a change in the houses energy as with the coming full moon.

The old woman slowly began to guide her talking with her.

Do you remember your name child...

The woman looked at her and tilted her head deep in thought as she tried to remember.

What did Adam call you child?

The old woman tried guiding her mind that way.

A... Adam...

The woman's expression changed as she tried harder to remember.

Unnerved by the shadow he thought he saw Adam move slowly through to the kitchen, from there he watched the woods and smiled. Must have been a raccoon or something. But the feeling of soft eyes, dark long hair and a secret smile wouldn't leave him.

He lifted his phone and called the storage people, it was easy to arrange his things to be delivered, though he knew his possessions would only fill half this house. The woman on the other end thanked hum as she arranged his thing to arrive the next morning and hung up. This was too easy! His friends had told him horror stories of delays and stress when moving house, but for hum everything seemed to fall in place.

Adam walked back to the room with the screen, it drew him. He felt comfortable there, but at the same time incomplete

The old woman continued to guide her on her path. First one day passing in the mortal realm as she guided her along trying to prepare her for what she would encounter as best she could but she could tell the young woman was still confused lost in this realm for so long. Again she tried to get her to remember her name as she asked again.

What did Adam call you my dear?

Ravenna...

The young woman looked to her as she finally answered as if being closer to her body was aiding her mind in understanding a little more.

Where is Adam?

The old woman smiled to her.

You will see him soon enough but it will take time once you are back to grow accustomed to him as well as the time that he now calls home.

Adam looked at the screen, it stood solid and real. He sensed a memory but had no way to place it. Then he lifted the figure from his pocket. he placed it on the window ledge behind him and stood. For a second he closed his eyes, inhaled softly and turned.

Out the window he saw it, the black bird. A raven. It held his gaze, stood brazen right there I front of him. He turned back to the screen and saw the figure, a woman, demure and alluring. She wad there for less than a second but she was as real as the screen.

He shook his head, unafraid but disturbed. He needed to step away, his things would be delivered tomorrow, he felt he needed to walk for a while. In leaving he paused at the stairs, he hadn't been up there. His hand instinctively moved to the Bannister and he move up step by step, almost without understanding why or where he was going

Then you have ended the curse? The creatures are gone... the banished one is gone?

She questioned the old woman as a hand moved absently to her neck as if still feeling a memory lingering there with a faint wince of pain in her face and eyes.

Yes child the creatures are gone... the Banished one however still lurks but for now appears to be in hiding. That is how we are able to use the full moon to return you to your body Raveena.

She nodded and pointed...

Something is over there... do you hear it?

Yes child the waters that guard your body once more move and dance with the sway of the moon. It is time we must get to your body by the moon rise tomorrow night as the full moon is at its peak.

The young woman nodded and walked with the old woman and the leopard.

the rooms upstairs were bare, the windows seemed clouded and light fought hard to get in. The bath was a pleasent surprise, large and deep. A bath was an indulgence Adam had missed in his last house. He opened the window to look out into the woods, all seemed alive and fresh but for that one tree. He gazed a while before he noticed the path worn into the grass by many footfalls. His eyes followed the trail, deeper into the woods until he saw a flash of light there.

Unsure of the source he smiled 'another mystery'

By now the sun was dipping lower he got a sudden urge to call the realtor. She answered almost before the second ring, which surprised him. 'Ummm hello....It's Adam from earlier. I understand this is a strange question but as the house is empty....well, would it be possible for me to sleep here? I know the legal thing needs to be done but....'

Of course Adam that will be fine. As I said stop by to sign final papers as soon as you can and the house is yours paintings furnishings and all. The original furnishings for the upstairs rooms is in the attic. Surprisingly large attic old designs you know 1 and 1/2 story attic alone on that house. It truly is a beauty and a wonder it will be good to see life in it again. Good night Adam.

She smiled staring at the other sisters as she spoke to him.

He is in place. Full moon tomorrow she will be back in her body and then a few days for them to find each h.other. Cops getting called in on a woman clearly confused and dressed in very old yet new looking clothes. Our dear Adam answers the call and then the true test begins. Help them remember before they realize she is freed

He smiled and walked round checking the ceilings, finally finding the hatch. As he climbed up, torch gripped in his teeth, he saw the space there and knew. This was where the screen really belonged, it should stand in the corner. He could see it and felt her. The thought flashed across his mind, her? Why did he think a woman should be there, yet he did and it felt right. He selected a mattress and moved it carefully. He was surprised at how clean it was, how new it felt.

He was torn as to which room would suit best but settled on the one at the rear of the house, it overlooked the yard and felt more homely. He settled onto the mattress and sat looking out at the darkening sky and the shadowed trees

The screen had always been in the room where it resided now. The room where the painting had been created but it was not time for him to find the painting yet. The sisterhood had hidden it deep in the attic knowing it would take him days to find it if he went through everything in the attic to place it through the house or even some of it that called to him.

They continued their travels in the realm that had held her prisoner. The closer to her body the more her mind tried to clear from the fog of her centuries of imprisonment.

You say things are... different? How? has he found another?

The old woman smiled reassuringly and shook her head no.

No child he has not found another not in any life that ever lasted long. You are his soul just as he is yours. All will be well but come now we must hurry one more day till our only door is gone.

The sun streamed through the window, Adam woke to its light hitting his eyes. He looked around and smiled. Despite what should have been an uncomfortable night he felt refreshed and had been in a deep undisturbed sleep. He remembered falling asleep, feeling safe, warm - loved almost.

He knew that today would be his best chance to sign the papers, he was scheduled to work late on, and also wanted to sort through some of the furniture in the attic. He washed and left to grab coffee and head to the realtors. As he walked down the path to his car he glimpsed the old damaged tree, his body shivvered as he saw it, it was as if it hated him. He grinned, 'I know I'm no gardener, but I'm loosing it if i worry the trees hate me' he muttered.

He bought his coffee and walked the few doors to the realtors office, it was still early so he sat to drink his coffee on a bench outside

She arrived at her office smiling.

Well to get here before my receptionist is a feat for me but for a customer that's impressive. I swear sometimes I think she lives in the office.

She unlocked the door and walked in getting the lights turned on and the coffee pot started.

Adam drifted a little. His new job was due to start the following day. His transfer was into the missing persons unit of the county police department. He had spent the last few years on homicide duty and wanted the change. He felt that this role would give him a way to save people and re-unite families instead of always being the bearer of bad news.

He drained the last of his coffee and closed his eyes. The sun shone red through his eyelids and he smiled at the warmth. He listened to the pedestrians and the traffic, it felt unhurried, sane, good. Upon opening his eyes again he turned to see lights on in the realtors office, he stood and walked to the door. As he reached the door he walked into her, she was going into the office like him. He stepped back 'I'm so sorry I....' he paused. Her face, he knew her, but the recognisable aspect of her was much deeper, almost hidden or supressed. He stepped back again 'have we met?' he asked

She suspected that he had heard nothing that she had just said and shrugged.

NO I do not think we have ever met before Adam. Let me get those papers for you to sign I have a few houses to show this morning and two open houses this afternoon.

'I'm sorry' he muttered, 'its just that things are odd at the moment. I'm confused at where I am, but things are getting better. I'm just here to sign the papers and get back to unpack'

His head thumped, but he knew he needed to get back to the house

Sorry I just have the work of three people all today. It will be alright you should be able to get settles soon its not that big of a town. Though there is a great deal of history around here. This town is every very old truth be known.

She smiled to him and turned around from the filing cabinet with his file and sitting down she motioned to a chair across from her and turned the papers towards him.

If you could sign here and here and initial there you will be on your way.

Adam scanned the papers, whilst he wasn't totally feeling himself, he understood that all was in order. He signed where directed and placed the pen on the desk. 'so that's it' he said 'I'm truly here, I guess I'll have to do some exploring and find out where the interesting places are in this town' he looked up and smiled

Best way to do it. I always loved traveling before this place called me back home. Just wander and get lost in a new place and learn all the most interesting things that way.

She smiled to him watching him sign. Even the handwriting was almost the same as it had been so long ago... at least from what she had seen in old documents. She knew exploring this old town that had not really changed simply added some new touches here and there as needed would slowly reveal his mind to the past. Soon she thought they would have the lost one back and everything might well become as it always should have been. So many in this town are counting on that.

Adam smiled as he handed over the papers 'feels like a new beginning in a familiar place' he smiled.

Emotions churned through him, he felt so sure he had never been to this town before yet it felt like home. The people felt familiar yet he knew logically they weren't. He smiled lost in the feelings - forgetting that he was stood in the office of a realtor. A moment later he felt like he had snapped back to reality 'sorry' he grinned 'I've started doing that a lot, thinking without thinking. Must be going mad' he laughed

'so is there anything else you need?' he asked

Nope don't need anything else. Welcome to ShadowGlen Adam. I am sure you will love out little town.

With that she smiled as her receptionist walked in with an arm full of food for the open houses and paperwork. Moving from her desk to help her with everything she smiled a hidden smile as the receptionist nodded and walked over to him.

So you bought the wonderful old home. It is so wonderful to know that such an amazing house that is so tied to ShadowGlen will have life in it again. If you want any information on it there is always the little college's library they have a pretty big selection on the towns history and there is nothing better than just getting lost wandering around town and the countryside and seeing what you can happen across.
