Today was a good day

for a few reasons

1) The Supreme Court of Canada ruled that Neighborhoods can prohibit the use of Pesticides. Me and my insect friends are jumping for joy

2) I selected a best man, sort of.

3) Laurel acted with speed and grace in changing my name. Cause she's the coolest.

4) As expected the EBW era began with a fuck up. I forgot the best thing. I went to the Jays game, had great seats and got to kiss the Ball and Chain on the Jumbotron. I think the Jays lost though.

The EBW era begins.

It's kind of obnoxious. During a pitching change they show couples sitting next to each other and have the words "Show us a Kiss" in 15 foot high letters. Good thing I'm so good under pressure.

It figures that the one time I get on the 'Tron I don't get to show the crowd my Dyed-Blue tongue because it's in Erins mouth.

My Girlfriend(Or fiancee or whatever) in one of her adorable moments of bonechilling honesty called me a "Music Snob" to which I replied "Well, that makes everyone else Music Trailer Trash"

But it got me thinking, am I? Am I too harsh on people who I consider to have taste in music that is the equivalent to Velvet paintings? I wonder....

BTW if you're wondering why this came up it was because I yelled "Send his piss poor Pop Rock ass back to Syracuse" after I heard that he had selected Lifehouse's "Falling into You" or whatever it's called as his pre-at bat music.

Are Lifehouse Canadian? They seem Canadian. They suck, and they play the hell out of them on MuchMusic. I sorta assume that any band that sucks & gets massive play on MuchMusic must be Canadian.

I used to watch Electric Circus all the time 'cause it was on in the middle of the night. It's not anymore. Those dance freaks crack me up. Ties into our raver discussion a week back.

I like that puppet with the cigar. He's super funny. I'll say this about Much - they seem to get away with more than MTV does. though they DO censor weird shit - like Papa Roach's song "Last Resort", for some reason they bleeped out the words "Last Resort" throughout the entire song..which is rather irritating, as those words occur semi-frequently. Of course, Papa Roach is rather irritating as well, but that's another thread...

1) I did indeed, fail to mention Sum41 whose lyrics are so sad that they almost make me cry. And not in the Scylis way either.

2) I didn't forget them, there simply isn't the room to include every crappy Canadian band that they have to play

3) Yes, they have to play 30% canadian stuff. It's called Canadian Content Laws.

4) While it sucks for the most part it also gives exposure to The Tragically Hip, Sloan and Thrush Hermit

5) Electric Circus is indeed hilarious. You should see it live.

6) The censoring stuff is awful but isn't them, it's mostly the CRTC

Yeah, I know, which is why I can forgive it. It's a neat idea, because it promotes Canadian talent. But it also means you get a lot of crap. Of course, we in the States have no such laws but that doesn't stop MTV USA from playing tons of crap.

CanCon laws are, indeed, an odd two way street that I feel kind of mixed about. Although I'm probably in favour of scrapping them. You should see the TV we have to watch.
