Today was a good writing day. (The productivity boasting thread)

Pretty happy with the fact that I've maintained a streak of 4k words per day for the past month. Are they all good? Absolutely not. Is this going to need more editing than usual? Absolutely.

But it is nice to really get some momentum and churn through something.

I finally finished my latest, and to date longest, story. Got it sent to my editors and my most avid fan-turned-beta reader.

I also have the opening to a completely new story and possibly series that is rattling around inside my head. It feels ready to bust once I can grab another hour to write.

Yesterday I wrote nearly 1k words of a space opera I started months ago. I've decided not to continue with it though: it would be a long story, probably across multiple chapters, and I don't want to commit to anything like that before I finish my ongoing series "The Dome" at least. So into the "Dead Ends and False Starts" folder it goes.

But it was fun to write for a bit, and now I can clear my head of the niggling voice nagging at me about yet another story that remains unfinished.

Chapter complete on Total Power Exchange, 87k words over 16 ch. It's written as a tour through the ways that D/s long term relationships work, with the protagonist from Total Female Control getting led by her nose through the aftermath of her FLR.

I just realised it's like A Chrismas Carol. I might need to add the Ghost of Spankings Yet to Come....

More generally, it means I'm now feature complete on the entire publishing pipeline through to end of Oct '25. It feels very weird to have gotten to the end of 4 years of publishing a story a week, but also good to be able to put this to bed and start something new somewhere else.

Merry Xmas! May [insert magical sky being] bless us, every one!

You had my attention at "space opera". If you need a beta reader, ping me please.

Still writing my superhero geek thingy. About 3k added since the last post, blew up a good chunk of Manhattan while writing. Fun times!

Got a jump on chapter 12 of the series I'm working on. I have found that the sex scenes can be tedious when I've got a flow going with the story elements, so I did six thousand words of the story and threw <INSERT SEX HERE> twice, lol. Going to start doing those now, but wanted to look through the forums before I started.

I was cramming for a deadline on a novel this spring. I figured that I would have to write 1500-2000 words per day to make it. Normally 1000 is a good productive day for me. I'll take even 500. I wrote 3500 in two days, then I had to go to a memorial service out of town. All through the service, the story kept trying to steal my attention. I got home in the evening and got 400-500. I don't think that I would have been able to sleep if I hadn't. Then the next morning I got up and started writing, as if to make up for it. By the evening I had 5000 words, and it was good stuff too. What a wonderful experience. It was so satisfying. I think I wrote about 14000 words that week.

Always wonderful to have a day like that! Rock on!

Once upon a time, I had a bare minimum goal of 3000 words a day. I haven't actually hit what I used to consider a "lazy day" in several years. Perhaps I can get back there with the proper inspiration.

Finished editing Chapter 3 of the Sweetest Berry and got about 1200 words in Cheating at Church done.

The latter bit surprised me as I was struggling with a scene and finally cracked it right and then rolled into the next scene where the flow just developed a whole new angle on one of the characters.

Quite pleased.

This is less about word count and more about finally cracking (I think) a story that's been giving me some trouble. I've tried rewriting it a bunch of different ways, and it keeps running out of gas at the end of the first act. Which probably means that the first act IS the story, and I need to write with that in mind.

I had it in mind for Pink Orchid, but it could also fit a Valentine's theme, or even an April Fool's theme. I guess we'll see when it's done.

I can usually get down 4-5k words in a day if the story flows, but my best so far is the first draft of what will be chapter 10 in my first series: 19000 words, on my phone, over 2 days during christmas break.

Today I wrote 5,000 words. A complete episode of a series from nothing to the first draft complete. On a phone. On a ferry. I fucking rule.

This thread is started in celebration of this monumental achievement and is going to be a place for other writers to brag when they just get shit done.

In this thread, we don't care about your plot, storyline, characters, or fancy literature conceits. We care about how many words you got down and how you got in the zone.
5K is a good day. Well done, Red!

After repeated delays caused by the demands of family life, fluctuating interest, and the accidental discovery last weekend of this POS, I finally managed to finish writing Chapter Six of The Cuckquean's Contract! It's now been submitted and is awaiting review and publication.

This has been a good week for me and today was an especially productive day. I finished Chapter 18 of Life Outside the Elysium and had it published on Friday - it's slowly fighting the standard interracial bombing to almost get its red H as we climb towards 1000 views (my average on this second part). It was my longest chapter to date, clocking in at 23k words, more than I wanted, but less than I could have written.

Today, though, saw me wrapping the first draft on Chapter 19, the penultimate chapter in this part, and it clocked in at just under 22k words, all of which were written in the last two days. This was a fun chapter to write, as it has some solid payoffs for the audience, including the beginning of a new relationship with my main characters that will be a prime focus of the third part of the series. I had the benefit of a solid four day weekend with no responsibilities and that just let the words flow. With any luck, this will be proofed and ready to throw in the hopper for a Tuesday or Wednesday release.

After that, I get to finish the final chapter (chapter 20) of part 2, and then I can take a much-deserved break for a few weeks. I think I may have cracked the 500k word mark at this point, which is kind of nuts considering I hadn't written any erotica of any kind prior to the end of October of last year.

Hopefully some folks out there are brave enough to try it!
