Janet was surprised when the sergeant politely explained:
"Forget the jeep - it is a trap - Why would she leave it here and why would it have a warm engine? She knows something is up"
How could she know? Unless... Unless...the sergeant told her Janet surmised.
Too late... I have to keep going
The sergeant continued with his advice:
"Come with me, and not in a fuck"
Janet rolled her eyes at the sergeant's joke. She was glad it was so dark that the sergeant wouldn't see her response.
She followed him to a building that looked like an armory. Janet couldn't see what the sergeant was doing. He seemed to have keys for everything and helped himself to what he wanted.
Maybe's he's going to give me a gun.... Janet surmised but it wasn't to be.
Janet followed the sergeant to the boathouse.
"You're so smart!" she praised the sergeant. He really seemed to have a kack for escaping and outsmarting the sentries.
She let him row the oars as the current took them downstream. Then he pulled a cord and the big engine hummed to life.
"It's so loud..." Janet told him but he seemed distracted and distant.
Probably just worried about my safety... Janet arrogantly assumed.
After a short boat ride, they arrived at the wharf of a small town. It was now closer to 5:20 a.m.. She was grateful as the sergeant walked her to the bus station. She waited while he bought a ticket for her. Janet didn't want to make a scene in her little micro-mini and green tanktop. But there were few people awake at this time.
Janet didn't have any money and was grateful that the sergeant bought the ticket.
The bus was ready sooner than she expected. It didn't look like a regular bus line. But she wasn't going to argue.
Anything to get out of here.... but I have a strange feeling
Janet didn't catch the sign on the bus but assumed it was to her hometown...
though how would the sergeant know that...... Janet wondered.
It can't be a set it... or could it
Janet sat at the back of the bus as it rolled down a highway. She had no idea where she was or how long it would take to get there. But she felt safe, though the bus driver kept staring at her in the mirror........
Tired as she was Janet fell asleep.
