But it's not that the rich determine who wins the election. They determine who gets on the ballot. A candidate has to win a "wealth primary," a certain level of fundraising, to have a serious chance at the nomination. A real leftist like Bernie Sanders has no more chance than an anti-theocrat has of getting on the ballot in Iran.
