Obama was elected because the people bought into his "Hope and Change". They had the Hope that he would Change the dysfunctional Washington Establishment. He delivered a Republican Health Care system, and received a lot of credit and then gave us more of the same old shit.

He was re-elected due to the Republicans going full Wing Nut with Tundra Barbie and an incoherent campaign of derp. I don't believe it had much to do with him being "The First Black President" and more to do with the despair of the American voters, and his polished persona.

Hillary was rejected because she was viewed as another shrill shill for Wall Street who was offering "more of the same old Demo Establishment status quo." The Heartland did not see her as their Champion, but as an extension of her husbands deregulation of the controls that had kept America safe from rapacious capitalists since FDR. She had the reputation of a flip flopping, say anything to get elected, but do what the Dark Lords said, puppet.

Trump was elected because he was not Hillary, and now the remorse is starting to set in. If America can resist his insanity for another 1454 days we stand a chance to save the planet. If not the world is doomed!
