Trump formally files appeal of $365 million verdict, does NOT post required bond

When you stand up in court and tell the Judge that you can pay that amount easy, don't whine the next day that you can't pay it. It makes you look a berk.

BTW, all Trump has to do is to either syndicate out the bond to a variety of underwriters (apparently quite common in this sort of scenario) or just surrender some of the deeds to his properties (the ones that he actually owns rather than the ones that he borrows from the banks) to the court.

Monday is D-Day!

He probably owns nothing. Everything is leveraged to the hilt. And most of his “properties” are mostly owned by someone else. Trump just slaps his name on the building.

He claims to own Trump Tower, but he actually owns the parking garage, the valet's office, the lobby washrooms and just one unit. The grift is relentless.

rumours abounding about trump's intentions too seek the funding from foreign players, such as Saudi or Russia...
Former President Trump’s attorney Alina Habba responded to claims that he could be seeking foreign sources to pay his massive legal fees, but she said Wednesday she “can’t speak” about the strategy.

“Well, there’s rules and regulations that are public. I can’t speak about strategy; that requires certain things, and we have to follow those rules,” Habba told Fox News’s Martha MacCallum on Wednesday.

The Trump 47 Committee — established through negotiations between the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee — is a joint fundraising vehicle that can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars from donors and distribute that money to the Trump campaign, Save America, the RNC and at least 39 state committees, according to a document filed with the FEC on March 19.

The joint fundraising agreement turns on the spigots to create a much-needed cash infusion for the RNC, which has trailed the Democratic National Committee in its fundraising. But the fact that Save America, Trump’s PAC, will also benefit from the checks cut to the joint fundraising committee is likely to raise concerns for donors who don’t want their campaign donations directed to Trump’s legal bills.
despite a top advisor to trump stating the committee would not be paying any of trump's legal bills, it is documented that Save America has spent $8.5 m on trump's legal bills this year to date... and it's only March.
The Trump 47 Committee can raise up to $814,600, according to a donor form obtained by The Washington Post — and the joint fundraising agreement outlines where each dollar is allocated sequentially down to the last dollar of each contribution.

The donor form shows that the first $3,300 of each donation will be directed to the Trump for President primary election account; the next $3,300 will go to his general election account; the next $5,000 will go to Save America and the next $413,000 is directed to the RNC. The remaining dollars up to $814,600 will be directed in various amounts to the local Republican Party in 39 states.

As predicted. Now I predict the entire case will be tossed by the Appeals court in the coming months as the next level of appeal is filed. The ACLJ was a player in this matter and real Americans should donate.

From Professor Jonathan Turley today:

“This is obviously a tremendous victory for President Trump, but it’s long overdue. During this litigation, many of us described this entire effort as a grotesque use of this New York law. No one lost money in this case. The banks actually wanted more business from President Trump,” Turley said. “No one had ever seen an effort like this. It was an effort by Letitia James to have a trophy win against Trump and what this opinion has done is reduce what was a mounted marlin to something of a guppy. It has removed the fine and left in place the injunctive relief that President Trump can now appeal. So, it is possible that even that could go to the wayside.”

“The good news is really for the New York court system. This regains some of the credibility that was lost during this process,” Turley continued. “Many of us stood there in disbelief that James was allowed to do this. She succeeded in securing or she was fortunate enough to secure a very favorable judge, Judge Engoron, and I want to note, by the way, that both the judge and James tried to effectively price Trump out of even appealing the case. They insisted that he would have to pony up half a billion dollars just to question what they did in the case and it was an outrageous effort to effectively price out an appeal. It didn’t work. Now we can see that the appellate court said this should never have happened in terms of the fine.”

Yes, this was always a stupid case.

Then again, so is raiding John Bolton.

The USA is full of pussies.

Trump is above the law
Kiss his ass!
And like it!!
Many are saying he has the sweetest ass that any animal on Earth could ever have now, in the future or back in time. Maybe the best in the whole universe! God made it so!

The judge(s) know they will be rewarded in time so it’s NOT a bribe!! Like he’ll ever pay???

Andy McCarthy Explains Why Appeals Court Tossed Letitia James’s “Ridiculous” Penalty Against Trump

By Harold Hutchison, Daily Caller News Foundation • Aug. 21, 2025

“I think Trump may be ultimately completely exonerated on this, for now, the penalty goes,” McCarthy said. “There was division in the appeals court about the merits of the underlying suit but as you point out, what they found basically under an Eighth Amendment theory, the amendment that prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, there was such a mismatch between whatever wrong was actually established in the trial and the outrageous penalty that was imposed for it, which was, I think, $355 million, which with interest and other costs is already up to about $530 million now because it continued to accrue for a while. That was such a ridiculous mismatch between what the penalty was and whatever the wrong was that was established, that that had to go.”

“The court is leaving in place some other what they call injunctive rulings that were made by the court. So, some things have to be sorted out, like how much monitoring the Trump Organization is going to be under,” McCarthy continued. “But he is out from under the most important part of the case, obviously and I think there could still be an appeal to the highest appeals court in New York, the Court of Appeals, where they will deal with the question that seems to have vexed the appellate division, which is the whole merits of the case and whether Letitia James, the attorney general from New York State, should have been able to use a consumer protection statute that had never been used in this way to try to establish a fraud case based on sophisticated financial actors.”

The court created the fine.
The Appeals Court reversed the fine, finding it violated the Eighth Amendment’s protection against excessive fines. This ruling reflects poorly on both Letitia James and Judge Engoron. AG Pam Bondi is reportedly preparing a federal civil rights lawsuit on behalf of the President and his attorneys, citing deprivation of rights under color of authority (42 U.S.C. § 1983), abuse of power, and selective enforcement. The Appeals Court’s verdict provides a legal roadmap to challenge the overreach and unconstitutional conduct that produced the original fine against Trump and those sanctions unlawfully imposed on his attorneys.

Yes, the courts reversed the fine.
.James did not

I'm not surprised that the judgment amount got tossed; it always seemed excessive to me in light of the absence of any real injury to anybody. But the important point is that the appellate court affirmed the judgment and finding of liability against Trump, even if it tossed the remedy. It upheld the trial court's judgment that Trump violated the law. For our purposes, as citizens, considering the importance of the case as a reflection on Trump's fitness, that's what matters. Judge Engeron's 90+ page opinion summarized the testimony of over 40 witnesses, and it's pretty clear from the testimony that Trump did in fact act with others to present false information to appraisers with the intent to get favorable loan terms. So, he's a crook, even if the amount of the judgment was excessive. He's like a bank robber who didn't get away with any money. He still broke into the bank to rob it. The appellate court's opinion does nothing to make Trump look better.

Lenders made money off Trump. Horrible crime. He should have to do time.
