In my lifetime I have seen the rise of a mindless sort of ideological tribalism where too many adherents follow an ideology simply because it's their social identity. They don't truly understand what they are supporting.

Examples:

On the right there are the mindless Cop Suckers who believe the police are above reproach or question no matter how heinous their crimes and coverups may be. Even when confronted with the irrefutable facts of cops who rape or molest children they sidestep it or ignore it. Because the facts are irrelevant to them, all that matters is their social identity.

These people say they support the Constitution but then have no problem with authorities who wear their contempt for civil rights as a badge of honor.

On the left it's the fashionable lovers of all things Palestinian who paradoxically and reflexively object to racist anti-Semitic rants against the Jews all while calling for the eradication of every last Jew in Israel and elsewhere. These people also run around at "Pride" parades while agitating for the Palestinians who pride themselves on throwing homosexuals from rooftops.

When confronted with these obvious contradictions and the irrefutable facts accompanying them these true believers sidestep the uncomfortable facts, ignore them, or lash out at those who point out these troublesome issues.

Because all that matters is their social identity.

Groupthink on both sides is then curated by manipulators who often are motivated more by greed than by the ideologies they purport to advance.

Like we are seeing in Minnesota right now the rioters are being funded by wealthy outsiders who are using the rioters to advance hidden agendas. The worst of these manipulators are also being tied to similar protests on the right. All that matters to these people is their agenda, whatever the fuck that might be. The mindless pawns who adhere to mindless tribalism are just tools to be used to advance an agenda.

And there's always money at stake.

While I do not agree with the people who are getting themselves killed in the ICE protests I feel for them because they went into these actions not truly understanding that (right or wrong) they could get killed for what they were doing.

And some cabal of billionaires who are funding and organizing this chaos don't give one flying fuck about these people except to the extent that their deaths enhance the chaos these wealthy vampires desire.
