“If there were any remaining doubt whether advisers within the Trump Administration are actively pushing to end the independence of the Federal Reserve, there should now be none,” Tillis said in a statement. “It is now the independence and credibility of the Department of Justice that are in question.”

“I will oppose the confirmation of any nominee for the Fed — including the upcoming Fed Chair vacancy — until this legal matter is fully resolved,” said Tillis, who also sits on the Judiciary Committee, which has oversight over the Justice Department.

Tillis’s threat is a potential roadblock to Trump’s plans to bend the bank to his will. Opposition from Tillis would likely deadlock any Fed nominee on the Senate Banking Committee, which is divided 13-11 between the two parties.

tillis has nothing to lose since he is not running again. Too bad others can't find their spine, intestinal fortitude or cajones to stand up and say, enough. Trump has done plenty of damage to the world order, trade agreements, affordability, world stature that may never be repaired. Tilllis at least is some guard rail to help keep the fed independent. But for how long.

Warsh has been highly critical of the Fed, writing in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal last year that the Fed should “discard its forecast of stagflation” and arguing that it is overlooking that AI will be a “significant” force that will boost productivity and push down inflation.

“He thinks you have to lower interest rates,” Trump said of Warsh recently, citing the president's key litmus test for the role.

His audition must have gone well. He is a sad choice and thankfully his vote is only one on the FOMC. His past comments on interests changed in November 2024 when the new mantra was to lower rates. So did his. And in trumps truth social, he says warsher looks like from central casting. Guess he looks the part. The other FOMC members should still outweigh the 3 trump appointees thankfully.
