Trump wants a military parade

When you start a sentence with utter nonsense.

Indeed. It is utterly nonsensical that half the country is so bigoted against such fine people.

I might need to check my math though because they only really hate the military when the Republicans are in charge. The rest of the time they're just ambivalent about it. So call it 25%.

I marched in a military parade once. In 90+ degree humid weather. Standing in formation sweating and the men were falling down like bowling pins. Soldiers hate being in parades.

Problem here is slightly more than half the country loathes the military. Pretty odd when you consider the god-awful amount of money we spend on it.

The way that works is the Republicans push for military spending on behalf of the defense contractors and the Democrats push to get those defense manufacturing plamts or bases in their districts.

Come on man... You know thats a buncha crap.

No. It really isn't.

As soon as Obama was sworn in, suddenly Code Pink was -silent- and we heard no more casualty counts on the outlets that had done them daily for years. Drone strikes were fine. Starting brand new wars was fine.

Defense contractor beholden Republicans always vote for defense spending as do for California Democrats who love all those expensive California defense plants. it's pretty easy to match up the Democrats that always vote for military appropriation bills with Democrats who have big defense plants in their districts. It's all about the money. some Republicans both have campaigns funded by defense contractors and have defense contract plants in their District. That would be a twofer.

Charlie Wilson was amazing. He funded his very own war. A successful one at that.

Nonsense squared.

The dude who killed biin laden just said a parade is "bullshit 3rd world garbage".

Dude needs to stroke his dick to some tanks that's fine. Whatever. He has no idea what a joke he is. I'm not totally against all his policies but guy is such a huge man-child. Let him play with his toys and be a laughing stock. We're rid of him sooner or later if we survive.

I thought everyone loves a parade. What is this? I support the troops, but I don't support the President?

I don't disagree with your characterization but I sincerely hope not everyone that opposes Trump is a sanguine about a parade. I hope they show up en masse to "resist" a parade.

The military would be professional about such a protest and the contrast would be funny. I'd love to see the bemused Expressions on the soldiers faces.

Maybe I should order up a bunch of "I support the troops but not the parade" Grumpy Cat T-shirts.

That has sometimes been the view in the UK:

'I support the troops but not the Prime Minister or the current government.'

That is easier in the UK. The Navy, Army and Air Force swear allegiance to the Crown i.e. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, not the government. The officers are given commissions on behalf of Her Majesty.

In practice it is more complicated than that. The 'Crown' is an amorphous term that includes the constitutional monarchy system of government.

But they are Her Majesty's armed forces.

One of my work-mates is ex Marine. I don't recall his MOS; did three tours in the Gulf. Voted for Trump. To see him seethe at the thought of the military being used as a prop for the President's ego is quite something to behold. Neck veins popping and everything.
