  • china flexes political muscles
  • iraq wants to evict all americans: they used to be equally anti-iran and anti-american but wanted a quiet life... now, it's dramatically changed their focus. they are sick of their country being used as a proxy battlefield by america and her allies
  • al-shabaab (allegiant to al-qaeda) kills 3 americans in africa
  • iran's influence grows in the middle east (as does russian)
  • putin's new hypersonic, nuclear-capable intercontinental weapon goes mainstream
  • americans advised to leave iran/iraq and other likely trouble spots
  • dow falls as oil prices spike after assassination of iranian general
  • iran announces it's no longer limiting its number/type of centrifuges and resumes uranium enrichment programme
  • american allies in troubled areas supporting restricting the activity of terrorists worried as trump's politics undo 40 years of hard diplomacy
  • saudis stay verwy verwy quiet, the strategic importance of the straits of hormuz not being overlooked, the possibility of an oil tanker being targeted, even sunk, not ignored

trump supporters: so much winning!

trump's actions of pulling out of the iran nuclear agreement and pulling troops out of the ukraine have directly INCREASED the likely blossoming appeal of 'terrorism' (al-q, any of the others) to the local people. the ability for these groups to now attract and train new recruits, to bolster their power and influence in regions, is amplified ten-fold.

no doubt we'll see a whole rash of these small, direct attacks all over the middle east; some will be 'deniable' by the iranian government as not of their doing but publicly recognised as reaction to american's decisions. iran will fully understand how these groups are working to the benefit of the (russian-backed) iranian goal.

when even fox's tucker carlson doesn't have a good word to say about the decision and fallout of the assassination (leaving that to hannity), it says something.

Meanwhile, Trump's popularity rises, the economy does better each day, and you can turn the lights on in the middle of the night without worrying that it'll be used as a beacon to target for a missile attack.

Oh yeah, and you can vote, walk around without an escort without fear of being kidnapped and forced into marriage, drive yourself to your own destination in your own car, actually own property in your own name, and even post bullshit on a porn board about how all the above is bad because Trump didn't bend over for Iran.

I keep trying but cannot understand how anyone in this day and age can continue to spout this nonsense.

Currently the US is a "net exporter" of energy in both natural gas and crude oil. That means we ship more energy overseas than we import from other nations.

Which means we aren't dependent on Iranian oil (which can't be freely sold on the market anyway due to sanctions).

Thus, any military conflicts in the Mid East ARE NOT over oil. Right now it's about ideology; theirs or ours. Their ideology is to KILL ALL OF US. Ours is not let them succeed.

Simple question: Which of those two competing motivations do you personally prefer?

I just saw Newt say [paraphrase], I think that when they chant Death to America, they mean Death to America.
