How Birth Control Works
There are two basic types of the pill -- combination pills and Mini-pills which both work in the same manner.
Both pills act to prevent the relase of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). However, women can and do experience breakthrough ovulation -- meaning that an egg is released from the ovary and is available to be fertilized by the sperm.
(scientists have confirmed that at the moment the sperm and the egg join a new human life is created, and is completely different from her/his mother.)
Both types of pills also cause the cervical mucus to thicken, making it difficult for the sperm to reach the egg. it is possible, though, for the sperm to break through the mucus to fertilize the egg.
If the egg is fertilized the pill has one final mode of action. Both ypes of pills change the lining of the uterus. This makes it difficult, if not imposible for the five-to-seven-day-old baby to attach to the lining of the uterus, where it would recieve teh nourishment it needs to grow. If the baby does not sucessfully attach to the lining of the uterus, she/he dies and is expelled from the body during mestruation. This process is known as a chemical abortion and is why the pill is refered to as an abortifacient.
The lower dosage the pill the more likely it is to work by causing a chemical abortion. Other birth control meathods cause chemical abortions (abortifacients): Norplant, Depo-Provera, the IUD, and "emergency" contraception (the morning after pill)
The pill may not stop you from getting pregnant. In fact, it may cause an abortion. There is only one way to effectivly avoid pregnancy--abstinence.
There have been at least 43million surgical abortions since the decriminalization of abortions. Meaning if you were born after 1973 one third of your generation has been murdered. But these numbers are drasgically flawed, as I said, that 43million is only surgical abortions, chemical abortions are almost incalcuable.
!!If a woman is on the pill (or other abortifacients) and is sexually active she will have an average of 2 abortions a year. !!
