Caleigh and Roxanne looked at each other across the files. While some might not understand it, they really enjoyed working together. As paternal twins, they could almost read each others minds. But the physical was where the resemblance ended. Inside, they were two totally different women. Roxanne was a dominant powerhouse. She got what she wanted. EVERY time. Caleigh was completely submissive. She was a follower, and lived to please others.

Five years ago, the girls had been offered a special job. You see, officially, there was only one of them. They made the perfect assassins because of this. One could be the alibi, and the other would do the dirty work. Their parents had died while the girls were still young, and since they didn't want to become prostitutes, they took the job. The job made them hard. Both women were extremely talented marksmen, fighters, and had great upper body strength.

Caleigh looked at the file. These were the newest targets the girls had acquired. The pictures stared up at Caleigh, seeming to mock her. Miranda and James Newton. Mother and Son. Caleigh always hated the family targets. It seemed wrong to take out more than one member of a family, but they had no choice. They had to live.

Roxanne eagerly scanned her copy of the file. Unlike her sister, she had a blood lust that was legendary. She seemed to actually enjoy killing people. She also liked to find new, untraceable ways to do it. Roxanne absentmindedly twirled a strand of her auburn hair, as she thought of a strategy for this assignment.

“Roxanne? What are you planning in that devious mind of yours?” Caleigh asked, as she finished typing in the targets names into their database. “We should know all of their spending habits in a matter of hours. Then we can decide what strategy to take.....” Caleigh broke off the sentence, realizing that Roxanne was not even listening to her at all. “Roxanne!” Caleigh got up and tapped her sister on the shoulder. “Earth to Roxanne! Anybody home?”

Roxanne finally broke from her reverie to answer. “Oh. Yeah. I was just thinking through things.” She grinned sheepishly. “You know how my tunnel vision gets when we have new targets.” Roxanne put the papers down. “Why don't we go get some Chinese food while we wait on the results?”

Caleigh just shook her head. “I guess that sounds good. Maybe if we get some food into you, your brain will return to the land of the living.” Caleigh stood up, her long legs unfurling beneath her. Both of the sisters were shapely. Just enough in all the right places. Caleigh smiled. “Maybe if we go back to Golden Dragon the owner will cover the tab.”

Roxanne looked up at Caleigh. “When are you going to forget that? Just because I didn't have enough money that one time and had to flash him......” Roxanne playfully punched her twin. “If you were a nice sister, you'd forget that ever happened. Besides, he only let us off because he's a boob man.” She winked at her sister. “If only you'd shown yours, we'd still be getting free food!” Roxanne surprised Caligh by grabbing her purse and heading for the car. “Last one to the car pays for dinner!” Caleigh couldn't help but retort: “That's only because mine are perkier then yours!” As she ran for the car. Astonishingly, Caleigh won. “See sis! All those hours at the gym are paying off!”

Back at their house, the report finished printing out. Every shopping purchase, every restaurant, every single habit was there in black and white for them to read. Miranda and James didn't stand a chance.

Cameron Newton was 33, looked 25, and was the 14th richest person in the world. At the age of 23, while working on a PhD at Harvard, he had invented a technique for taking water and a small amount of a couple naturally occurring and plentiful elements, and through various chemical reactions, including splitting the hydrogen and oxygen in the water, he was able to run a motor. With another two years of research, he was able to scale the whole thing up to the point that a prototype car was built, and from all tests done it proved able to drive over 600 miles before needing a refill, and obtain a top speed of 110 MPH.

His life changed nearly overnight after the first test. Venture capitalists were approaching him, offering tens of millions to invest in a new startup company that hadn't even formed yet. Eventually he formed his company, complete with a small group of super-rich investors, and Energy Solutions Inc. was formed.

They had yet to get a car out on the market yet, more testing was still necessary, not the least of which was safety tests to make sure people would be as safe in an accident, if not safer, if they were driving one of his cars. There were also weight issues, as every pound took off from the distance the car could drive, but safety meant weight, because a car that was too light could get torn to shreds and tossed around easily in an accident. It was a daunting task, overall, but one he expected, and one he knew he and his people could handle.

What he didn't expect was the backlash. Here he was, sitting on what was potentially the greatest invention of the young century, and a lot of people were very angry at him. Most of them were in some way involved with the major car companies, the major oil companies, or people from countries that had oil as one of their largest exports. His invention could cost them hundreds of billions of dollars, and some people didn't take the idea of losing that kind of money lightly. There had been some death threats, but nothing he took terribly seriously. His investors were not as laid back on this issues as he was.

Body guards were hired, and he was urged to take some kind of self-defense class. He tried out karate, found it uninteresting and impractical - if he was going to be attacked, he couldn't imagine his attacker sticking to some kind of point system to determine whether he lived or died - and instead turned to Krav Maga. From the first day, he was in love. Time not spent in research or testing was spent in the gym, working with a private trainer. When they moved on to ground fighting, his instructor suggested he take a Brazillian Ju-Jitsu class, and he fell in love all over again.

Research and develop on new technologies didn't exactly work the body much, and he found he'd grown a little soft in the middle through his college years. Krav and BJJ changed all of that, anyone that saw him without a shirt on would never guess he was a genius-level scientist, instead guessing more along the lines of cage fighter or personal trainer. He found that breakthroughs would happen while he was in class - including one that came to him in the sort of dream-like state he found himself floating in after passing out from a particularly effective triangle choke - and it only encouraged him to spend more time in training.

Now, years after he first discovered the new technology, he was both mentally and physically powerful. He typically kept his head shaved close, his dark hair almost nothing but fuzz on the top of his head. His eyes were ice blue, and he typically had a bit of dark stubble on his face. He'd always been tall, reaching nearly 6'3", and now every inch of his frame was toned and well-muscled. He hadn't been attacked yet - ever, in fact - but if it came, he was ready. His investors, at seeing the physical transformation, along with the bodyguards that went nearly everywhere with him, were satisfied. He was well-protected.

None of them, however, thought about his family. His father had died in a car accident when he was only 12, but both his mother and brother were still around, although significantly less famous, and no one really considered them targets. Perhaps he thought they'd be able to stay anonymous, since he was careful never to mention their name in interviews, or perhaps he thought he would be the only worthwhile target, since the ideas were all in his head.

What he never considered was that someone might target them in order to force him to stop his work.

Roxanne eagerly poured over all the information the report printed out. Evidently both of the Newton's kept close to home. There wasn't a lot of information for her to use. That just meant she would have to get creative. Then she noticed something odd. The woman had two sons. Not just one. Intrigued, she began to research, finding Cameron's information took almost no effort. "So this is why...." She mused. She then accessed the original blueprints for Cameron's house. "I'm sure he's made some changes...." She thought to herself. "I know I would."

Then inspiration hit. "What if we worked this one from the inside? Maybe Caleigh could get a job there....." Roxanne just kept thinking....the wheels in her head were spinning out of control. She then started searching for job opportunities in Cameron's zip code. A few keystrokes later, she found two different postings for an assistant. They were issued by the same employment agency. On a hunch, she called the number listed.

"Brookland Agency, this is Micah, how may I direct your call?"

"Yes, my name is Caleigh Roughton and I'm calling about a job advertisement. Who should I talk to?"

Roxanne knew Caleigh would do whatever she said, so she had no problem posing as her sister. A pleasant sounding man came on the line, and Roxanne explained that she was interested in the assistant's position. He instructed her to come in, and sign some forms. Then the employer required a background check, followed by an in-person interview. "That particular client requires anonymity, so you will have to sign a waiver, and will be interviewed by him here in our office. If hired, he will go into further detail at that time." Roxanne just knew in her gut that this was the right job to get them inside the iron gates of the Newton mansion. "May I come in tomorrow to fill out the paperwork?" She asked. After gaining the correct response, she went to find her sister.

A few hours later, Caleigh paced around her room. Roxanne made everything seem so easy. "Just go in, and convince them to hire you. Gain his trust. Find out more information about the targets. It will be easy." Easy my ass....Caleigh thought. "Maybe it would be easy for you, big sister, but I'm usually just the alibi."

Even with all of her doubts, Caleigh sorted through her closet and found an awesome outfit to wear the next day. If she didn't get hired, it wouldn't be because she didn't try.

He'd just finished with a particularly trying BJJ session, getting his ass handed to him all up and down the mats by a particularly skilled black belt. He'd learned a nice escape from a kimura and a nice transition into an omoplata, but not before he had to tap out to both holds repeatedly first. He was a brown belt, and skilled in his own right, but a truly great black belt could make you feel like you were drowning while on dry land. It was, simply put, great training.

He was toweling off, grabbing up a couple pieces of gear and getting ready to hit the shower, when his very pregnant assistant came in with the phone, informing him that the employment agency had a candidate for her temporary replacement while she was on maternity leave. He thanked her and, a bit out of breath still, took the call.

He was told that they had a candidate that they had interviewed and vetted, and both went well, with her background check coming out clean, and they wanted to see about setting up an appointment for him to interview her. He ran through a quick list of his obligations for the day in his head, then said he'd meet her at 6 p.m. at Antonio's, a local steakhouse that charged obscene amounts for some of the best meals he'd ever had. He preferred interviewing people away from his house, just as an extra level of caution, and because he wasn't quite famous enough to be instantly recognized by most, so it allowed him a bit of anonymity himself.

The rest of his day was fairly routine, and when it came time he had his driver take him to the restaurant a little early, a table near the back reserved for them. He was dressed a little casually, his sleeves rolled up and a dark vest that matched his trousers. He sat with his back to the wall, facing the restaurant in front of him as he was taught, and ordered a bottle of Bordeaux Petit-Vidure red wine.

Caleigh was eager to meet this prospective employer and find out if he was actually Cameron Newton. He wanted to meet at Antonio's at 6pm, so she dressed the part. She also carried a nice fitted black jacket with her, but it was such a nice evening, she didn't really want to wear it.

When she pulled up to the restaurant, she felt a little nervous, but not that much. The office had instructed her to go in and ask the hostess for "Mr. N." Caleigh only hoped this was the right man. If not, she would have to come up with some excuse not to work for the guy.

As she followed the hostess across the crowded room, she felt like she was being stared at, intently. It made her feel a bit uneasy, but she had no time to think about that, because they stopped at the table of a delicious looking man. "Please let this be him," she thought "I'd love working for a man who looks that yummy."

Caleigh decided to bite the bullet, and extended her hand. "Hi, I'm Caleigh Roughton. Pleased to meet you!" She sank into the chair that the hostess pulled out for her, just now realizing how nervous she was. The butterflies were flaring up in her stomach, and she wondered if she would be able to eat a thing.

Meanwhile, at home, Roxanne watched everything through the tiny camera installed in one of Caleigh's buttons. "He looks sexy." she thought, as she compared him to Cameron's picture. A perfect match. Only she was sure he was better looking in person.

Now all they had to do was get Caleigh the job. Roxanne hated waiting, and decided to go for a run while she waited for her sister to return. She could watch the tape later if she needed to.

The wine had arrived a moment or two before she did, and he had his nose in a glass, eyes closed, inhaling the scent of the wine he'd just swirled in his glass when he heard the hostess approach with his guest. Opening his eyes, he found himself looking up at a striking red head, not what he expected when he set up an interview for a new personal assistant, and he couldn't help but to smile up at her. Setting his glass down, he rose from his seat and thanked the hostess, who nodded and turned to walk back to the front of the restaurant, then shook Caleigh's outstretched hand.

"Caleigh, pleased to meet you. I'm Cameron Newton, CEO of Energy Solutions." He returned to his seat after she sat down, then thanked the waitress that brought their menus. They were in a somewhat old fashioned restaurant, and the menu Caleigh had didn't even have prices in it. What it did have, however, was an small selection of amazing food.

"I apologize for the secrecy," he said, not opening his menu yet, "Unfortunately, it's necessary. My investors tend to be a little paranoid about me meeting with people they don't know." He shook his head, clearly annoyed with it, but smiled at her still, "But, you'll get to see all of that for yourself if you work with me."

He reached out and lifted his wine glass, watching her as he swirled the deeply colored liquid inside, and before taking a drink he said, "So tell me about yourself."

If Caleigh had found him attractive before, it was now ten-fold. His voice sounded like rich honey and sex. She could almost melt from just the sound. But she had to come back to reality. She had to convince him to hire her.

As they opened their menus, Caleigh answered "Oh it is no problem. I totally understand the need for secrecy in certain....situations." She smiled, her first real smile of the night, and when Caleigh smiled, you could almost hear singing. Caleigh stared into his icy blue eyes, as she answered his second question. "I like long walks on the beach....and romantic movies. Oh wait! This is a job interview!" She blatantly winked at him and then continued. "In all seriousness, I went to Berkley, got a corporate job when I graduated, and wasn't very happy. I'm looking for a job where I can make a real difference, that is challenging, and stimulates my interest."

Caleigh couldn't break away from his gaze. It was almost pulling her toward him. "What are you looking for in an assistant? Are there any special qualifications that are unique to the job?"

He returned her smile, almost unable not to, and simply nodded in reply, content that she seemed to at least to some degree understand the need for privacy. His brows furrowed for a moment when she began talking about long walks on the beach, but the smile returned when she winked, making it clear it was a joke. He had to give it to her, she seemed quite cool under pressure - and it was not arrogance, but a realistic view of the situation that made him think that being interviewed for a job by one of the single richest people on the planet was fairly high pressure - and he thought it would be a quality useful to him, if he decided to hire her. And frankly, although he'd only admit it to himself, he certainly wouldn't mind looking at her day after day, either.

"Well, he said, folding his menu and laying his hands across it, his decision on food made at least, "I can't promise you that you're going to be remembered as someone that changed the world, at least in this job, but if you can be content working behind the scenes and helping someone that is, then perhaps this will work for you."

He paused, lifting his wineglass to take a sip, before continuing as he set it back down, "There are honestly only a few things I really need in an assistant: Someone to answer my calls and e-mails, you'll have to sign a binding, lifetime confidentiality agreement if you work with me by the way, "he added as an aside before continuing, "Someone that is pretty much always going to be available, because there are going to be times that I may need you at two o'clock in the morning on a Saturday, or times that everyone may be pulling an all-nighter to meet a deadline, and I'll need you there to help me coordinate things. And, I need someone that can keep up with me.

"I know it might sound a bit arrogant," he continued, his eyes focused entirely on hers still, "But I know I'm an intelligent person with a quick mind, and I need someone that isn't going to need me to slow down and explain things to them more than once. There are a lot of demands on my time, and your job would be making sure those demands are met in the most efficient way possible. That means sometimes filtering out things I don't need to know about right away, if at all, or making sure you are assertive enough to call my attention to something that needs to be addressed quickly."

He paused, lifting his wineglass again, and his eyes flickered to the dark liquid inside it before moving back to meet her gaze again, the glass then tilting slightly in her direction as he spoke once again, "This wine is a 2007 Petit-Vidure. It's from Bordeaux, a port city in southwest France, that has about 287,000 acres of vineyards. This particular brand costs $263 dollars a bottle, it is a first-growth wine, and the producer, Château Latour, only makes seventy-five bottles of it a year. And you are more than welcome to have some, by the way. You really should, it's quite a treat." He took a sip from the glass then, setting it back down, and then continued, ending with a final question, "How many hours per week can you realistically devote to me, Caleigh?"

"I can't promise you that you're going to be remembered as someone that changed the world, at least in this job, but if you can be content working behind the scenes and helping someone that is, then perhaps this will work for you." Caleigh smiled as he said this. "That shouldn't be too hard for me. I enjoy the shadows more than the limelight."

As Cameron detailed what he wanted in an assistant, Caleigh couldn't help but think that this was going to work. And work well. She had always been a quick study and had been praised for it many times in the past. Hell, her very survival had depended upon it before, and she had been able to rise to the occasion.

Caleigh took a sip of the wine, and looked directly into his eyes. "I can work as many as you need me to. I don't do well on less than six hours of sleep, but as long as I get that, I could even work the rest of the time." She took a deep breath in, her confidence building. "I am the person for this job. I'm a quick study, I know how to screen what is relevant, and what I don't know, I can learn."

Caleigh didn't know what else to say to recommend herself, so she stopped there. The look in his eyes made her think of a hardened puppy, who had seen too much to be nice, but wanted someone to care.

He held her gaze, nodding slightly as she spoke, liking both what he saw and what he heard. Sure, the main thing was someone that could handle the job, but the fact was if he had to choose between someone that could handle the job but wasn't much to look at, and someone that could handle it just as well but had the added bonus of being far more attractive, he was going to choose the attractive one every time. Obviously, he could never express that thought to anyone, since he'd likely be sued by every person that didn't get a job with him and could be considered even slightly unattractive, but when he was going to spend the majority of each day with someone, a person that would basically be his right hand, then why not have it be someone that was also nice to look at? It seemed an obvious and easy conclusion to make.

"Excellent," he said with a nod when she'd finished speaking, "There is, actually, just one final question I have for you." Reaching out, he grasped the top of the bottle of wine that sat between them and turned it, so the label faced him. His gaze flickering back to her eyes, he smiled a slow, almost predatory smile.

"Tell me everything you can remember about the wine we're drinking." It was a test, and one he'd given to every assistant he'd hired. Failure meant the interview would be over. They'd enjoy a pleasant dinner, part ways with the promise she'd receive a call, and then a secretary would call her in a day or so to inform her that they'd decided to go a different direction and thank her for her application. If they passed, they were hired. He needed someone that could remember facts and figures, notice and recall things that seemed mundane and unimportant at the time. He needed someone that was always paying attention. It was time for Cameron to find out if Caleigh was someone that paid attention.

Caleigh smiled. He was making this too easy. "The wine is produced by Château Latour. He makes 75 bottles a year of this first-growth wine. This particular bottle is a 2007 Petit-Vidure. Latour's vineyards are in Bordeaux, a port city in southwest France. He has about 287,000 acres of vineyards, and this bottle costs $263 because of its rarity and uniqueness. Latour also produces a line of specialty wines that are even more rare than this bottle. Some of them will be sold for as much as $2000 a bottle." Caleigh purposefully rearranged the facts, so that it would be clear that she knew the information, not just a cool memory trick. The extra information was just a bonus. To let him know that she was well studied.

Caleigh looked up at Cameron, a definite sparkle in her eye. "Are there any other questions I can answer for you....sir?" Caleigh knew that she had won this round. He was testing her, and he would find that she would meet every task and then some.

xXx

Roxanne returned from her run, and began watching the tape. It was obvious to her that Caleigh was going to get the job. Not only that, but she watched the way Cameron looked at her sister. "Hmmm....." She thought: "Maybe we can use this to our advantage."

A slow grin spread across his lips as she repeated everything back to him, with a few extra details thrown in just to show off a little. He liked it. Lifting his glass filled with the wine she'd just described, he tilted it slightly in her direction. "Well done," he said, the grin still curving the corners of his mouth, "Very well done." He took a sip of the wine, savoring the taste on his tongue for a moment before setting his glass back down. His eyes fixed on her again, and he arched a brow slightly at the way she said "sir," curious if he'd heard the tone he thought he did...

With a smile, he shook his head and lifted a hand in the direction of the waitress who was hanging back until signaled, knowing to wait until called over. This wasn't the first interview he'd done here, although it might qualify as one of the more interesting ones. "I don't believe there are at the moment, Caleigh. Shall we order?"

Caleigh nodded in assent, and when the waitress came back around, they both ordered. Caleigh ordered one of their famous steaks. Soon the food arrived. Just the smell of the steaks made Caleigh's mouth water.

Caleigh kept thinking that there was more to Cameron than is apparent on the surface. There seemed to be something....darker....lurking beneath the surface. Almost as if he was holding it back. There was also something about his eyes.....as if he could see clear to the depths of her soul. This was going to be a hard job, but totally worth it.

As they ate, they talked about everything under the sun. What music they liked, what movies they detested, and even a smattering of politics. The strangest thing, was that this dinner was actually enjoyable. Caleigh found herself relaxing more and more as the evening went on. They continued talking, even after their plates had been removed. It was just like they clicked. Which for Caleigh, was a new thing. Never before had she met someone with whom she had so much in common. It would be interesting to see if this dynamic changed when he was her boss.

They both ordered when the waitress approached, and from then on the conversation was both light and interesting. The touched on some heavy topics, but nothing that would cause any rifts to form or arguments to break out, and in general the meal and the time spent with her was pleasant. It was an important step, perhaps as important as the rest of the interview, because whoever he had working for him had to be comfortable around him, which wasn't always easy when it came to "regular" people speaking to billionaires. The fact that she was able to carry a normal conversation with him, as well as keep eye contact without dissolving into a fit of giggles (sadly, it had happened more than once) was a good sign. The girl had secrets, he was good enough at reading people to be able to tell that, but he didn't feel like it was anything that was going to come back to bite him in the ass. Everyone had their secrets after all, didn't they?

After their meal was finished and the check brought, Cameron slipped his American Express Centurion Card into the folded leather containing their bill. He nodded his thanks to the waitress as the card was taken away, then turned his attention back to Caleigh, ready to finish up their business.

"Someone will be contacting you from my office tomorrow to let you know of our final decision. If we do decide to bring you on, we'd like you to start within the next few days if all possible. As you know, my current assistant will be going on maternity leave shortly and I would like you to get as much time with her as possible before she's gone so you're fully up to speed. Are you available to do that?"

"Yes, I am available. I'd love to learn as much as I could before your assistant leaves....provided I get the job." Caleigh hoped she wasn't being too forward. After all, he did have a lot of money, but it was obvious that she fit well into the job slot he had open. "Thank you for dinner." Caleigh stood up and firmly shook Cameron's hand. "I hope I get a chance to work with you." Caleigh couldn't help but feel like she needed to wait....to get permission to leave. There was something about Cameron that made you want to get on his good side.

Caleigh couldn't help but think of the assignment, as she stood there, and at how devious she was being. To get in good with this man, just so she and her sister could complete their assignment. She hated this part of their life, but they had to survive somehow. Roxanne was the ruthless one. That's why she usually did the harder, more dangerous jobs like this. Caleigh had the skills for this job though, so she was willing to persevere.
