Ultimate Marvel II

Xavier

A mental twinge hit the Professor just as he turned off the Phasing field. He was relieved to see that his mental abilities were back to full capacity now that the field was down. He sent out a mental summons to Iron Man and Wolverine, instructing them to come to his office.

A second conscience impinged on his mind as he noticed a presence that was not there before. He tried to reach into this persons mind, but was having difficulty. Finally after some intense concentration, Xavier realized that it was a man that had a symbiote relationship with an alien suit. That was what had caused his inability to reach this persons mind directly. Xavier was about to send someone to go talk to this person, when he noticed on his monitor that Colossus was already out there.

Xavier tried to understand how this man could have made it through the Phasing field. His only answer was that the sheer alieness of the symbiote was not recognized by the field, and he was therefore able to pass through.

Wraith

I looked over at The Thing. With most people, Shadow was a disturbing place, even the most undaunted of people were affected by the aura that the plane casts. I was betting that Thing was just as susceptible as anyone.
"No Mr. Grimm, it is my heritage and birthright, and much more than that."
I turned back as the professor instructed Peter and Hank to go down and get some food. He then typed in some commands at his desk, and the annoying itch in the back of my mind dropped with the protective field. The Professor still looked very worried, so I figured that I could help ease some of his tensions.
"Sir, I can help to protect the grounds. I will step outside and summon the Pack. I shall be back in a moment."

I stepped back into the shadow formed by one of the many bookcases in the Professors office, and moved to the grounds by the pool out back. The lights were off and the entire area was awash in shadows. The perfect location to send out my call.
** Come to me, my hounds. There is a task for you to do. Come Hunter, bring The Pack.**

Out of the shadows stepped a enormous mastiff, completely black with glowing lavender eyes. Hunter looked up at me as fourteen other hounds stepped out of the Shadow and into the Earthen realm. All waiting for my command.
** Patrol the grounds. Any strange scents or persons you will restrain, no killing! And you will give a call if you find anything. Now go, secure this place.**

With a baneful howl the pack separated off in a patrolling pattern.
I shifted back inside & sent out another call once I was back in the Professors office.
**Squint, stay in my room until I call you. I know you rode the call here, so behave yourself!**

With that taken care of, I turned back to the Professor.
"Is there anything you would have me do sir?"

Xavier

Xavier looked over at Kyle. "That was a good idea to bring in your pack. I should have thought of that sooner, but my mind is in overdrive at this point. There is nothing else I can think of at this point, but I will tell you all what is going on when the others are here. "

Gambit

::Once out on the Street, Gambit tried to blend into the crowd as best as he could. With Mardi Gras in full swing, the streets were filled with the decadent. People wearing beeds offering to do almost anything for another necklace, then there were the ones in theshadows performing every sexual act known to man. A smirk crossed Gambits face asnd all he culd manage to do was shake his head.

If the rest of the world were only so blind as these people are now. Not a care in the world, no violence, no crime, just fun....

A flash of light circling Gambit brought him out of his thought, and a glove covered hand tried to shield his eyes from the blinding light.::

"Halt Mutant. Stay where you are. You are under Arrest."

::The voice was metalic, like it was made from a computer, but Gambit couldnt see what was emitting the noise. Suddenly, the people around him screamed as the towering Figure landed on the ground and lifted a palm, a vinelike tube springing out from a hole and moving quickly at Gambit.

A backflip and a diving roll to the side kept the metal tentacle from grabbing Gambit, and with his lightning relexes, Gambit had a playing card in his hand.::

"Time for some fireworks.."

::The playing card started to glow softly, and with a flick of his wrist, Gambit launched it at the machine. As soon as the card made contact it exploded with the force of a stick of TNT. The machine was knocked off balance, but was remarkably uneffected.::

"I think its time for me to make a hasty exit...."

::Qickly Gambit charged another card and flicked it at the machine, creating enough diversion so that he could dissappear in a dark alley and vanish from sight and electrical scannors.::

Hank

Hank Went ahead and Gathered snacks in the kitchen When he started to get an head ace and for a mament it looked as if his furr had tund gray than just as quick as this started Its stoped. Beast stood up
"Why dose that keep hapening ."

As Spider-Man swung between the buildings he felt the freedom that always seemed to call him when he slipped on the costume. It was the freedom from all the pressures of his other life and it was something that always called to him, that got him into all sorts of trouble. He smiled as he moved through the air then did a flip to land on the side of the building. He looked around and tried not to attract any attention but then let out a laugh- who wouldn't notice a person wearing a bright red and blue costume stuck to the side of a building. Well, if his experiences were anything to go on almost everyone.

Just then an explosion ripped through the air and he looked in the direction that it had come from to see smoke rising into the air. Time to be a hero again he thought as he shot out some webbing and swung through the air towards the building. As soon as he made it there he was surprised to see the small amount of damage that was inflicted on the building. Just then his spider sense went haywire and he looked around but before he could find where the danger was something slammed into him, slamming him against a wall.

Just then a voice said, Mutant, you will be terminated.

He looked around and said, "You idiot, I am no mutant."

Suddenly something blasted a hole in the wall beside him and he knew that it would be best to move and not argue for whatever was after him did not want to talk.

President Humphrey

President Humphrey looked up from his desk blotter his attention now fully on the man in front of him. "Colonel Stryker, what do you mean that the sentinels have been unleashed? I have not given the authorization for this. Why was I not consulted on this? "

Colonel Stryker slowly stroked his goatee. "Mr President, you know what the standard policy is towards national security. In the event that there is danger to national security, we are to move with all expediency to remove the danger. We tried to reach you, but you were busy down in Arkansas helping to support Clinton in his bid for Governor. Your secretary never gave you the message? "

President Humphrey gave him a wry look , "Jennifer is excellent at getting in touch with me, especially in this type of situation. She knows that even if I am sleeping that she would have to wake me up for this. Besides all I have seen so far was the death of two innocent looking mutant children......."

Colonel Stryker jumped in "Mr President......NO mutants are innocent . They are a scourge on the back of mankind that needs to be expunged from the world. We need to take proactive action to ensure the survival of homo sapiens as a species. "

President Humphrey sputtered with indignation,"That is where you are wrong Colonel. I have only seen a few reports on a handful of mutants that are truly dangerous. I have no issue if those are the ones that you are going after, but only those. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR? " President hated to raise his voice like that , it made him feel impotent that he needed to yell at his subordinates. However, he wanted to make sure that Stryker understood the bounds of what he was going to be able to do.

Colonel Stryker smiled at the president. "Of course Sir, my orders from you are clear. I will carry them out as you ask. I have activated the newest batch of Sentinels just off the assembly line to help with this problem, since the last group did not work as well as desired.I hope that you will be happy with the results that I will bring you. "

Colonel Stryker turned to leave, just as the President stopped him with one more question. "Colonel, have we any intelligence on the current location of Magneto? The last time we had encounters with him, it was too close for comfort. I want all efforts exhausted to find him , do you understand? "

With a grin showing all of his pearly whites, Colonel Stryker turned back to the President. "We currently have four satellites and ten field agents working day and night to find that bastard. I have every confidence that we will find him. Never fear sir, we will make him pay for making you lick his shoes on national Tv. " His smirk barely hidden, Colonel Stryker makes his leave of the president. *Yes sir, my orders are clear, clear as mud....* Stryker smiles to himself as he thinks of the good works that these Sentinels can do.

Colonel Stryker

If this were a populated area, and if they didn’t blink at the wrong moment, one might have seen the woman just appear out of nothing. The plainly dressed woman looked like she belonged in the forest; it’s a good thing that she hit the right time… Clad in khaki shorts and a button down denim shirt with a scarf tied around her neck, the heavy work boots and backpack led an observer to believe she was out on a day hike.

Temera glanced around her immediate surroundings before extending one arm and bracing herself against a nearby tree. Closing her eyes for a moment, she waits for the dizziness to go away. When her senses returned to normal, she patted her pockets, pulled out something resembling a PDA, and compared the information there to her wristwatch. She nodded to herself before stashing the device and pulling out an old fashion compass and getting her bearings.

She headed off toward the southeast and thought to herself, “It will be great to get first hand knowledge from the legendary professor and his teachers…. I only hope that I’m not too late to see it all happen.” When the scenery started looking like the sketchy maps she studied before leaving, she slowed to a halt. Temera started looking for the signs that she learned in historical survival classes and became concerned that she wasn’t finding any signs of life.

Glancing up between the treetops, she notes that the day is later than she thought and decides to follow up in the morning when she is more refreshed. She puts aside her confusion and sets about making a cold camp for the night. Just before settling in, she pulls something from her pack, sets it at the camp perimeter and punches a few buttons. It responds with a few beeps before going silent and dark. She then curls up for the night, falling into a restful sleep.

Tony recieved the summons stoically, still perturbed to have someone inside his head. He shrugged, and began to walk. He passed by a metal man on his way in, who was apparently speaking to something. Once again, with a shrug, he continued. He walked briskly, and stepped inside the Proffesor's office, where he elected a corner as a good spot, moving to it.

Xavier

Xavier looked up as Iron Man entered his office. He smiled at him and welcomed him into his inner sanctum. "Welcome Iron Man, I am happy to see a powerful ally here with us in these troubled times. Thank you for coming here. Does anyone know what is taking Wolverine so long? "

Venom

Venom had just landed when he heard the man speak. Venom looked at him, and stopped. The man looked like he was made out of metal. Venom didn't care... but Brock did. Brock felt Venoms mind try to dominate his own, but forced it back down. He had realized that the symbiots hold over him could be controlled, though it took enormous effort. The symbiot slid back, revealing Brocks muscled body and, (what he considered) good looks. Brock stood up straight.

"Name's Brock. Came to find out what the hell is going on. I don't like being attacked. And whoever did it is going to pay. Don't suppose you know who did it, now do ya, Metal Head?"

Tony nodded at the comment, still silent. Perhaps this situation was troubling him more than he let himself believe. He hadn't made a joke about anything for quite a while already. Strange. "He was just standing there when I came in." He grimaced inwardly. Once again, his mind was drifting. He had ignored another perfectly good chance.

Wolverine smelled the energy field dissipate, and he drove the motorcycle into the garage. He parked it in his usual place and wa about to enter thehouse when he remembered Xavier's "No Smoking" rule. He put out the cigar and walked through the door. He said hello to the people he passed and then entered Charles' office.

Peter looked at the man who had emerged from the black costume in front of him. *Metal head, eh. This man will warrant some watching.* "Welcome to Xaviers School of the Gifted Brock. I do not know at this time what is going on, but I will bring you with me to the Professor. Follow me. "

Looking back to make sure that this strange man was following him, Peter led him into the mansion. Peter gently pushed in the door to the Professors office , noting that Iron Man had made his way in here, as well as Logan. Noting to Logan, he addressed Professor X. "Professor, this is Brock, he has recently been attacked and wanted to find out what was going on."

Xavier

Xavier looked around the room, noting that Logan and the intruder had finally arrived. Now that this man was in front of him, Xavier was able to enter his mind. He realized that Brock was basically a good man, that was trying to keep control of his symbiotic alien suit.

After running his hands over the monitor on his desk, Xavier experienced a brief flash of pain just before the phasing field was reactivated. It must have been the death of another mutant. Shaking his head in pity at the end of life for a fellow mutant, Xavier looked up at his guests.

"First off, I want to thank you all for coming here at this time. I had tried to contact the Avengers and the Fantastic Four to consult them on what is currently going on. However, it seems that The Avengers are on a classified mission for the Government, since even with my connections I was not able to get ahold of them. As far as Reed and the others, only Mr Grimm was able to answer my call, I hope they are all safe. "

"I am not sure if all of you had seen the newscast that was just on a short time ago. The slaughter of two mutants was shown on the camera with a figure flying away. I was able to discern from the images that it was Sentinel activity. All of us that are mutants are familiar with these implacable enemies, but for those of you that are not let me fill you in. "

"These are metallic robots constructed by our own government to destroy the mutant race. After there had been quite some depredation of mutants lives by these creatured, Magneto had turned them back on their human masters. Since then, the program had been discontinued and promises were issued that the robots had been destroyed. However, it seems that we were deceived and that there were some of them left. "

"I have received reports from some of my sources that many other mutants have already lost their lives to these androids. But more disturbing is that there have also been a scattering of reports that other powered humans have been killed by these robots. I am at a lose for a long term solution to this other than a two part plan that I have devised. I would like to break up into two groups. One group will have to find where these Sentinels are operating out of and destroy them before we are all killed.

"The other group will be directed by myself through cerebro to try and save what mutants and superpowered humans that we can and bring them to a safe house. It is up to you all to figure out which task you would shoulder the burden for. I ask only that you give your best effort, since anything else will result in the death of us all. I put forth all the resources at my disposal behind you to help complete this mission. I have also alerted some of my other students that I feel will be able to help and will send some of them with the groups. Does anyone have any questions ? "

Hank/ Wild Card

"Professor I,d like to Volunteer For the Group that Searches For the Scentils But I'd Like To Ask Who will be leading that group."

Beast Stood there Staring waiting For AN Answer his Mined Still on Is problem At hand . And finding a cure. And He knew his time was running out. He also Figured It Had something to do With what weaponed -x had done to him.... Mean Wile As Beast and the Others At Professor-X's School Were contemplating These Logan La'Beau Stood Outs side a military installation some where in Arizona. It Had Ben seven Month's Since He had Escaped from Weaponed-X witch brought him back to them to this Base The Same One that the X-Men had been Held at . Logan La'Beau had Never met the X-men But had herd of Them.

But thats Besides the point He had been brought to here Because He Was searching For His Past You See He Had all thees Memories but none of them of of him or his Life. Except for the last 10 months. . He journeyed in to the Base There were no gourds No Need . At least for the part you could see. He snuck in soon He was deep beneth the earth..................

Venom

Brock didn't like the idea of working in a group. All his life he had worked alone, and a group didn't seem to tempt him any now. He could still feel the symbiot, trying to control his mind, trying to force it's way up, but Brock wouldn't allow it. He dominated it.

"I don't like groups, never have. But I'll go along with you for now. I'm going after the sentinels, though. Have someone else try and save the people caught in the crossfire." He looked over at the mutant who had spoken before him, and nodded his head.

He flexed his muscles, and decided to wait and see who else he would have to watch out for....

"I'd like to prove that machines aren't all just for destruction. I'd like to try to save as many of the mutants and super-powered humans as I can", Tony said.

Wow, I am taking this way too seriosuly.

Thing

Ben stepped in to volunteer, "I will go with Iron Man to rescue those in need. All of us in the Fantastic Four are mutants, although we were mutated by cosmic rays. Besides which, innocent people are being killed and I want to help. And, one of the Sentenels may show up, and I'll get to clobber it." A scary looking smile appeared on the Things face. Scary if he was after you, that is.

"Cm'on Metal Man, let's go save some people", Ben said as he pounded his fist into his hand.

Wolverine didn't even have to think about his answer. "Chuck, you know I'm always going to go for the dangerous mission. I want to destroy these Sentinels and the place where they are being controlled."

Tony was glad that the Thing was on his side. He nodded. "Let's go, Rock Man. The sooner, the better."

As Spider-Man held onto the wall his breathing came in gasps for air. He was running out of energy and this thing that was after him was relentless. Just then a part of the wall beside him disappeared and Spider-Man jumped off the wall and flew through the air. He fired a web shot onto the top of a building and swung towards it then fired another one. He began to swing from building to building again, trying to get away from this thing and he knew that if he didn't find some place to hide soon he would fall to the ground and the thing would get him.

He looked back and saw that it was following him closely and knew he had to do something- his life depended on it.

Wraith

I listened to the professors options as he explained what he planned for us to do. Instinct cried out for me to go destroy the metal monsters that were hunting down my kind, but my mind told me I would be better used saving as many Mutants as I possibly could. I could transport thirty five normal sized beings from Earth, to Shadow, and back to Earth faster than anyone else could carry them to safety.
"Professor, I shall join the team that will ensure the survival of our kindred. With my Shadowshifting ability I can move large numbers of people to safety."

This was not gonna be easy on those moved, but I could save some of our kind.

Xavier

Xavier looked at those gathered before him. He was not suprised that they all understood the seriousness of the situation before them. He stared into space for a second, ruminating on how best to disperse the other resources at his disposal. Of course, he wanted to leave a few here at the Mansion to help protect those mutants that were already here.

"Ok, let me set the teams here. Beast, Venom and Wolverine you are on the team to go find the Sentinel base and destroy it. Peter I would ask that you go with them, and take Magik with you. Your sister would be invaluable as a teleporter in an emergency. I will also send Magma with you all.

For the second group, it looks like it will be Iron Man, Mr. Grimm, and Kyle. I will also send Jean Grey with you as well as Bobby Drake, known to most of you as Iceman. I think these additions will help balance out your powers and maybe give you the edge you need to finish your jobs.

Wolverine, I am giving you command of the first group. Hank before you protest, you will need his attitude and instincts on this mission. I can not afford to be second guessing his ability in this hunt for the Sentinels. I will outfit all of you with the best radio communicators that we have. I will not be able to stay in mental communication with you much, so you will need to talk with the radios.

Iron Man, I would ask you to assume command of the second group. You have the most experience in your group as far as leading people. With Jean in your group, you will not need radio communication. All you will have to do is think to her what you wish to say to your teammates and she will be able to immediately send that message telepathically.

I will give the two groups each an X-Jet. Group one, your is the prototype that Hank has been working on, but I have every confidence that it will work fine. Ok, now that the groups are settled, I will give you what information I have been able to garner from my sources. Logan, for your group I would suggest checking the abandoned base of Weapon X at Alkali Lake.

I will go to Cerebro in a few minutes and I will start relaying coordinates to the second group once they are settled in the X-Jet. Does anyone have any questions before you start? " Xavier waited to see if anyone had anything to ask.

After a restless night, Temera broke camp and did her best to erase all signs that she had been there at all. Getting her bearings once again, she headed out at a steady pace. She prayed that her information was correct about the location of the school. There were always discrepancies showing up in the historical records so there was always the chance for errors. For all she knew, she could be in the wrong decade and the school may have already been abandoned. If she had any say in it, history will be changed.

Her main worry was that if she did manage to change history, would it be for the good of mutant-kind like its intended? No one will ever know until it happens, though the probability factors were in her favor. Temera smiled tightly to herself as she worked her way through the woods, it certainly couldn’t get much worse than it is… (than it will be?)

As the day wore on, she started noting things that had been recorded in her great grandfather’s diary. Her mother would tell stories that her grandpa Tony use to tell her about the sentinels and the big refuge sweep that happen back at the beginning of the millennium. Her smile softened as she remembered her childhood, it may not have been easy but it had been full of love.

Suddenly the wooded area ended.. as if it was intentionally cleared to this point. Before her stood a mansion, nothing else could describe such a building. She stood there for a moment as one of her gadgets started beeping. Temera pulled the sensor out of her pack and after reading the alert, she stepped back into the woods as she heard animal like movement. she sat down and started to meditate as her doctor had told her to do when she was stressed. As she forced herself to relax, she focused all her thoughts on one phrase, saying it with her mind, repeatedly. ”Professor, I’m here to help” Even though she was no telepath she hoped that her thoughts would be picked up by someone who was, namely one Professor Charles Xavier....
