Unemployment statisics

To your first point the U6 generally covers that though not the odd person who managed to work full time and get no benefit. They might not be where they want to be or even deserve but rarely do you find people putting in full time without getting much.

I do find CNN's "consultants" to more often than not be accurate if somewhat biased. That being beside the point how far up the chain do we need to go, if you ask most of the right wing around here the CBO, FBI and DOJ are all just Obama cronies and nothing that they produce can be trusted and that's about as close to the sourse as you can get on any random bit of information.

CNN's consultants are VERY rarely qualified. Many of them have been caught completely bullshitting their Resumes, the same thing is true of Fox's folks though. They pick them because of their look and opinions rather than anything else. They also have to be able to bend the facts to whatever narrative the media is trying to spin. Trust me, read the news closer to the source and you'll be shocked at how much work they spend trying to make a narrative with bad guys and good guys. Almost all mainstream media (mainstream includes Fox, no matter how they protest it) do that, also most of the quieter independent media (they just tell different stories). It's why you need to examine as many sources as possible.

Again you can't get much closer than the CBO on things and I still rarely find CNN to be anything but accurate.

I think they are meaningless without the proper context, as are all statistics. The number of people in the workforce is the lowest in 35 years.

Actually, it's nearly double.

The "labor force participation rate" (the number you're looking for) is the same as it was in 1977.

You should really read up on the nature of work in 2015 (and how the GOP and Bush II) helped to destroy America's economy.
