Hello. I'm in need of an editor who wouldn't mind doing things a little differently. I am completely blind, and normally, edits are done via phone or put into a separate document, detailing the change. For example:
The wine said, and we glared at it. (Change said to replied).

The story itself is rather unique as it is told from the point of view of an inanimate object. It is for the Valentine's Day 2025 contest, and I'm in search of someone who can do all edits: copy, line, and developmental. I've contacted other editors today, but haven't heard back yet. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I'm afraid you might not get any response. Editing is hard work - harder than people realise until they try it - particularly if you want the full package. Add your extra format requirements, and it becomes a huge task. It might help if you give some details: word count and specific kinks, for example. Don't worry about people stealing your idea, though. Everyone I know who writes already has too many of their own.

Usually I'd recommend using Word's Read Aloud function, or another text-to-speech tool, to go through your story at the level of the individual words. It helps you to catch typos and repetitions, and you'll hear most of the clumsy constructions. But I assume that you already do that, with your blindness. If not: try it. Take your time, listen carefully and get a good feel for the story. It might help if there's some way for you to check for homonyms that you can't see.

And remember that everyone here is an amateur anyway. Nobody's expecting professional quality, although of course we all do the best we can. As long as you feel the story works, that should be good enough. You could add an author's note at the start of the story to warn people about the occasional typo, but story-wise, just write something that you'd enjoy reading.

One piece of advice: don't rush through anything. Tell your story like you're making love to your partner on a lazy Sunday morning. Take your time, tease the reader with small details, build up the excitement again and again. With sex scenes, in particular, the longer you can draw it out, the better it's usually received.

Good luck!
