USS Dark Fire (IC)

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

Xiana glanced at the incoming drink. Her unreliable vision was telling her no. Her hazy surroundings were telling her no. Her diminishing coordination was telling her no. Her slow speech practically begged for some water.

“Continue!” she beamed, taking the drink and swishing it slightly. Her grip was less firm than before. She turned to K’alena. “We should get out of here. We should go to the Red Section! What else is there to do on this ship anyway? I’m so sick of being in my quarters.”

Hora

Hora laughed at Dark Fire’s comments as she headed back to the bridge.

“Be careful, Dark Fire, it sounds like you are trying to psychoanalyze me. That’s Dr Marlowe turf now”

Dark Fire’s comment about her need for gratification caused her to think of another Limerick.

“There was an orion seeking sexual gratification
She tried every different kind of copulation
When she completed the last position
From her ass, there was white emission
She realized she just managed to self-fornication”

"That is a really bad one. I can see why humans stopped make these limericks.” Hora commented to herself. The turbo shaft door opened and she walked on to the bridge. She waved off the officer of the deck and headed over to Commander Reeves.

“Repairs are almost done. How is the simulation coming along?” She asked him. "Oh, and I think Ltjg McLeo and Ensign Cook are dating"

“The Red Section? You are a warrior at heart!” K’alena bellowed slapping Xiana on the shoulder. Grabbing her arm she lifted Xiana from her seat and pulled her to the door. “TO the Red Section!”

Walking along she sang Klingon poetry – which was always about battles and love – they were the same thing after all.

Passing a set of bulkheads with red walls she guided Xiana to a loud and boisterous bar with pounding music and gyrating patrons on the dance floor. The marines had been here just a few days ago removing a couple of dealers. So the place was much calmer now.

Two Rigelian ales were slid in front of them before they even sat down.

Reeves:
“I was not aware, but they are not the same chain of command, so it shouldn’t be an issue. The simulations are running at optimal speed, which is faster than I can perceive it. So I’d say they were coming along quite well.”

Excited, Xiana didn’t resist her new friend guiding her. Realistically, she wouldn’t have been able to anyway. If not for her following the Klingon, she would’ve struggled to find her own office.

“I have no idea what you’re saying!” she laughed as they made their way over.

Back on Earth, the woman hadn’t touched nightclubs in a long time. Sure, her youth was spent in false identifications and getting kicked out of establishments after her friends’ drunken confrontations, but it was wistful in a way.

She looked at the environment in awe, not wasting a second to down her new drink, fast enough to not contemplate its taste. She slammed the container on the bar. “Come on! I want to dance!”

Stardate 29870526.1200

Grabbing another drink from a passing server, K’alena shouted “Klingon’s don’t dance..” even as she was dragged onto the dance floor, the music pounded into her skull and body.

She wasn’t sure if what she was doing even counted as dancing as she moved on the dance floor, but the human Xiana was able to move nicely enough. It was sexual in way, for a human. But humans were weak boned and Xiana wouldn’t survive a true mating. If things went in that direction, unless K’alena was careful with her. But who liked to be careful during sex?

Punching an Andorian that got to close for her comfort K’alena watched as he?she hit the floor with a hard thud. Blinking she looked at Xiana, “He fell over. I promise?” she laughed.

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

“Klingons do everything except enjoy themselves! Just let loose for once!” Xiana called over the music. How unfortunate that she hadn’t come earlier! She could’ve been having an incredible time, as she was at the moment letting loose to the music. She didn’t recognize the sound but moved to the beat anyway. Regardless of her inebriation, she could still deliver on rhythm. Her hips were alive, her hair was swaying, and her arms went up here and there.

It came to a halt when she saw the assault, making her jump back. “Are you okay? Did he do anything?” she asked, taking a quick look around in case security intervened. The last thing she needed was an arrest by association.

Stardate 29870526.1205

“I said he fell over. He’s probably drunker than you are.” K’alena replied kicking the Andorian in the ribs. “He’d better be drunk.”

Looking back at Xiana she blinked a few times. “You should stand in one place. It looks like there’s three of you.” With the music pounding and thrumming it filled the room, and the flashing strobbing lights were making her head spin.

“More Ale!?” she asked Xiana.

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

By the lack of the others’ reactions, Xiana figured kicking someone was more common than she had expected. What else did the Red Section have to offer? Most importantly, small attacks aside, would she be fine coming back on her own in the future? “Alright, as long as you’re okay!”

She didn’t feel like putting an end to her dancing, though. She was having too much fun. “I could go for an ale! Do you need to sit down, though?!” she asked, gathering her hair and letting it fall on her back. Normally, the beads of sweat on her forehead would have her beelining to a mirror. Currently, she wore them with delight.

“No sitting,” K’alena replied opening her eyes wide. “Sitting is for sleepy people. Do you have a mate you need to get back to?” she asked looking for a server.

Grabbing on by the armm she said something in klingon before she let the girl go and fetch their new round of drinks.

“Blood Wine!!” she bellowed as she started to stomp a hard beat on the floor in a crude imitation of dancing, though she moved more like an over grown toddler trying to dance without coordination

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

“Sitting’s also for dizzy girls.” She was no one to speak, but she’d double down if necessary. She raised an eyebrow at the word “mate” but put her lips in a soft o in realization. “No, I don’t have a mate!”

Post drinks, she watched amused as the other attempted to dance. Earth’s standards weren’t in place, so did anyone truly care what interpretation any of them chose? “There you go!”

Stardate 29870526.1215

“I’m not dizzy,” K’alena said grumbling under her breath. “I dance better than a Targ. Better looking as well.” she said before belting out another Klingon poem.

“You should get a mate. Someone strong to defend you if we get attacked again. Or someone weak that you can protect when the blood flows and steel crashes.”

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

Hopefully, she’d be able to remember to look up more on who the Targ were. “Whatever you say, peach!”

She laughed to herself at the idea of either. Xiana hadn’t considered that type of company in nearly a decade. “It’ll have to wait ‘til I get back to Earth! The only person I’ve found alluring here is wed, and even then, I’m just here to work! What about you?”

Stardate 29870526.1230

“Only a Klingon mate could handle me in bed, and I don’t have a mate. So I’m alone as well. Wait. Why wait until you get back to earth? There are plenty of humans, and others, on the ship. Find one that does have a mate already.”

Grabbing a nearby drink she poured the alcohol onto the floor and started eating the ice without caring who, or what, had ordered the liquid.

“Work all the time. I fight. I train. I even start blood feuds.”

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

“Then may you find a Klingon, ‘cause the universe knows a proper sex life does good for someone,” she replied with a half smile. “and I see myself more with a human, but getting involved with someone in my workspace, which is basically the entire ship? In this place where most of the people I meet are risking their lives? It’s just begging for tragedy, whether deadly or in awkward run-ins. I can’t afford to lose my virginity in my place of employment!”

Continuing, she evaded the puddle on the floor. The music was starting to sound too far away for her. Those last drinks were the nail in her tolerance coffin. “Well, I think you’re smart. Focusing on what you have to do,” she breathed, slowing down.

“Only God knows if we’ll be able to enjoy another day,” she mumbled.

Stardate 29870526.1235

“To enjoy life is to waste it,” K’alena replied. “Better to go out in a blaze of blood and glory. Then I will awake in Suto'vo'qor, and drink the blood of my enemies with Kahless.”

“We should get you to your quarters while I can still walk.” she added, shaking her finger at Xiana. “No… mating tonight. I’m tired.”

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

“Ease up, Dramaticus. You have to at least enjoy a bit of life every now and then. I don’t care about your Klingon rhetoric—a life without enjoyment is worth nothing,” she argued.

“Don’t worry about that; I’m not into women,” she said tiredly, wobbling over to a nearby table and plopping onto a chair. “I’m still good! Just need a moment.”

Stardate 29870526.1240

“I am K'alena Daughter of K’Goz! Not Dramaticus. Doesn’t even sound Klingon. Sounds Romulan. Drah-matty-kus!!” K’alena replied.

“What’s wrong with women? We fight better, and faster than any man.” she asked leaning dangerously on the table next to Xiana. “And I’m a beauty!”

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

“Well of course it won’t sound Klingon, but I mean it. Sometimes you need a break! And I might too,” she groaned, blinking rapidly, her vision blurry.

She turned her head to her companion, barely able to distinguish her. “Nothing! Nothing’s wrong! I adore women, I just don’t want to fuck them! It doesn’t mean you’re not a beauty, I promise.”

“I’ll help you find a good Klingon Family. Honorable and Glorious. Many successful battles. Good thing I didn’t bed you. You’d break to easily. The women are more fierce than the man in bed. Make sure you throw things at your new husband.”

Leaning forward she whispered. “Keeps them in line.”

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

Xiana gave a funny look to K’alena, giggling. “I appreciate the offer, but I think I’ll be okay. Besides, I don’t like the type of men that like fighting. It’s hot when you’re nineteen—not so hot when your new idea of fun is level two cardio and reading research studies.”

“I’ll keep the throwing part in mind just in case—“ she pressed her lips together, going quiet until she forced herself to swallow. Grimacing, she got up with a wobble. “I need a bathroom. Now.”

Hora

“Hey, Dark Fire was psychoanalyzing me. He said I use sexual comments and gratification a great deal. More-so than most other Orion females. Do you think I need to see Dr Marlowe? Perhaps, I should go see her now. While we are waiting on the simulation results” Hora asked Commander Reeves

Stardate 29870526.1244

K’alena:
Without hesitation, K’alena pointed, as if she knew exactly where the restroom was. “Over there is the closest.”

“Heavy objects are best for throwing; they make more noise and get your point across. And they’re more accurate across a bedroom or living room.”

Reeves:
“My personal opinion on such a matter is irrelevant,” Reeves replied looking up from the tactical display. “Do you think you need to see her?”

“Professionally, I think the entire bridge crew would do good with some counseling.”

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

“Yeah, yeah, okay,” Xiana dismissed, scurrying to the bathroom. She didn’t intend to sound rude, but with the impending drinks she had throughout the night threatening to make an appearance, she couldn’t stop and grant an appropriate reaction.

Once inside, she ran short on too short of time to kneel at a bowl. Instead, she turned to the nearby sink, flicked the water on, and emptied her stomach. One hand desperately held onto the counter while the other did its best to keep her hair out of her face. Lightheaded, it was a difficult task, but her hair color would make any residue obvious. The mere risk disgusted her further.

Done—at least for the time being—she made sure the sink was clean and rinsed her mouth until only a burning sensation remained. Shutting off the water, she held herself up to the mirror. Her eyes were teary, her chest was heaving, and her mouth was wet. She looked a mess.

“Dark Fire, please tell me you work here too,” she called out, her voice strained.

Stardate 29870526.1250

“Of course,” dark Fire replied as a hologram of the ai stepped from an empty bathroom stall. “I exist everywhere within and around the ship simultaneously.”

“How can I assist you?” The figure asked, it’s flaming form generating no heat nor soot.

◅ XIANA MARLOWE ▻

Hearing the program, Xiana rested her forehead on the cold surface of the mirror. She hoped it would cool her down or, at the very least, suck her into a dimension where she had stuck to her one-drink rule.

“Could you, um…” she began, pulling her face away and avoiding a second look at herself. “Can you tell my friend out there that I’ll see her later and that you’ll help me back?”

The awaited gloom of too much drinking had arrived. She was not only ashamed but didn’t want anyone to see her in her current state, both conscious and appearance-wise. The embarrassment, even with her new friend, was big enough to consider the idea of locking up in the bathroom for the rest of her life. Her dread combined with her nausea was disastrous.

“What are the odds you can help me look unrecognizable?”
