Valentine's Party, a dozen roses a la Greek

Hephaestus

Having enjoyed the warm kiss from my lovely Aphrodite, I follow her into the room, my hand resting on the small of her back as she points out the other pairs from Greek mythology, smiling at the gorgeous women and handsome men that have been invited to this party, nodding at those that I knew.

Leaning closer to my goddess, I breath into her ear, "You've done well with your invitations and costumes my dear. Of course, as is appropriate, Aphrodite outshines all of the other women."

Athena

The guests continued to arrive, each one costumed more beautifully than the last. I knew most of them by sight or reputation although I had not spoken to them before tonight. They all seemed to know each other quite well, though. I felt nervous and a little shy, and I found myself going straight for the alcohol, as I usually did in social situations. I downed a glass of white wine a little too quickly and had to use all the willpower at my command to keep from getting another. I was supposed to be the Goddess of Wisdom, and getting drunk would be somewhat incompatible with that persona.

I had to wonder why the character of Athena had been chosen for me. No doubt it was meant as a compliment, although I often had reason to doubt my own wisdom (especially when it came to romance, and especially lately). I tried to remember the Greek mythology I had read as a child. To the best of my recollection Athena was a virgin goddess who never had a mate. I hoped I wouldn’t be expected to live up to that aspect of her character, I thought with a grin.

Taking a deep breath, fighting back the shyness, I began to circulate among the guests and introduce myself.

Aphrodite

I had a few guest yet to arrive, noticible Adonis.

We moved to the drinks and I smiled at the lovely Athena, giving her a wink knowing that she felt out of place. I watched as Cupid and Pysche were enthralled in each other. I smiled as Zues had not yet noticed the regal Hera, her face turned so she hadn't seen him yet. We talk a little more before I move to my lounging couch adorned in soft romantic pastels. Heph sits beside me and the other couples find themselves either sitting down or dancing to the soft music.

Hera:

The room is filled - and keeps filling still - with shades and shades of shimmering tunics that barely hide the delicate forms underneath - couples are finding to each other as if drawn by invisible strings, and I see flashes of the greek history come alive as I watch the gods and goddesses move around.

I silently compliment our host to this wonderfull setting - and wonder if there wasn't a too realistic set up, seeing that Zeus, whom I considered to be my counterpart, was nowhere to be seen. Should he - just as the old tales tell, have found entertainment elsewhere, outside this "Olymp" that had so skillfully been created for our enjoyment?

The delicate black tunic waved behind me like a cloud of smoke, giving me a slightly dark and sinister appearance. Do I see heads twisting my way? A sparkle in a god's eye? A smile on a goddess' lips?

I chuckle as I see Cupid armed with bow and arrow - what a nice thought to detail ... and at his arm, I hoped I wasn't staring now with a gasp and a blush, a vision of beauty. I remembered the story - that must be Psyche, and sure enough our host had not choosen a Lady unworthy to represent the most beautiful of the mortal females.

More and more still vaguely familiar figures I reckognised before I reached the bar. Taking a glass of champagne I silently argued with myself whether my Zeus, should he still appear, was to be greeted with a cold shoulder for making the Queen wait - or with a intoxicating smile to make him regret every heartbeat he had missed of my presence... just to make him suffer for his century-long "infedelity".

I would just have to wait and see how good his excuse was for keeping me waiting.

Hermes

Andi's breath on my ear and tongue on my earlobe sent a mini tingle of pleasure shooting up and down my spine, adding to the heated flush I was still feeling after the delicious torment she'd subjected me to on the way here. I slipping in behind her, wrapping my arms lovingly around her waist, allowing her to feel the traces of my arousal against her lower back.

Observing the other guests, some of them familiar faces, others new to me, I leaned forward and whispered into her ear teasingly.

"You're gonna have to pay for that you know..."

Artemis

Chris's arms wrapped around my waist and his hot breath whispered against my ear.
"You're gonna have to pay for that you know..."

I giggled in response. Together, we went to get drinks then circled the room, saying hello to the people we knew, getting acquainted with those we didn't.

"You know, Hermes," it was difficult to say that with a straight face, "I did a little reading on Aretmis this afternoon. She was the virgin twin sister of Apollo. Virgin!! I can't even remember being a virgin, but perhaps....you'd like to help me with that?"

I gave him a saucy wink, then walked away from him in a swirl of emerald. Maybe if I made him chase me...

Zeus

Slowly I was wandering around in the room, watching all the other people there I could see that they were all playing characters taken out of the Greek mythology, so somewhere there would be a Hera waiting for me, and it wouldn’t surprise me if she was close to being on fire because I was late, and had left her standing.

As I searched for Hera, I walked past several vases that was filled with beautiful bouquet of roses, and suddenly I was standing with a bouquet in my hand, hoping that Hera would like them and that they might make her look at me with a bit more gentle eyes.

Suddenly my eyes caught a woman standing alone at the bar, and in that instant I was without doubt sure that she was Hera for the night. What made me so convinced was both the outfit, the most exquisite of all the women’s outfits, and the way she carried herself. I took a deep breath to gather my courage, and then I walked up to her, prepared to do my best to make her forgive me for my tardiness.

As I was a couple of feet away from her, I got down on my knees in front of her with the roses in my hand. I looked her straight into her eyes and said “Oh Queen of the Olympus I hope you can forgive your humble husband his tardiness and that you’ll accept these roses that are so overpowered by your beauty as a token for my devotion for you!”

So there I am, kneeling in front of this stunning beautiful woman, hoping she’ll accept me as her Zeus for the night.

Cupid

The array of the other guests was stunning...but I only registered that subconciously.
I only had eyes for Psyche...not so aloof as some of the Gods, but with a beauty that seemed unearthly enough.
I could not tear my eyes from her, and had to force my breath to obey me before I could speak.

"I was afraid at first to let a mortal into Olympus, fearing the wrath of the other gods. But those fears were foolish. No one will take you for a mortal--it might just be that some will wonder how they had so far missed a goddes of such stunning glory and beauty"

I blushed at his words, unable to respond. I looked away. Suddnely there was a man on his knees. What was he doing. The woman in front of him looked flustered, then gained control.
Hmmm. He had been late. I almost laughed. I turned back to my Cupid, resting my hand on his arm.
"I am delighted to be able to attend. I shall do everything I can not to embarass you in front of your fellow immortals."
I sipped the fruit juice I had asked for. The one glass of wine had been enough. I wanted to be fully aware of everything going on, of everything he did. Just my hand on skin made me shiver. Not many men could wear the costume of Cupid and not look ridiculous, but he more then carried it off. I brushed a hand over his quiver.
"Are you here in your official capacity? Or could we dance?"

Party crashers

I had overheard I woman I work with discussing her invitation to an interesting costume party. The more she said, the more intrigued I became. When she left her desk I casually walked over and glanced at the invitation she had left there. Quickly noting the date and address I returned to my own desk, an idea taking shape in my mind.

Over dinner that evening I mentioned the overheard conversation to my boyfriend and asked him what he thought of crashing the party. Always up for something adventurous he gave me a mischievous grin and said that he thought it sounded like fun.

The next thing I had to figure out was what to wear. Since I knew the party had a Grecian God theme I knew I couldn’t deter far from that, but I also didn’t know which costumes would already be taken. I finally decided to stay with the God theme, but just give it a little twist. The Norse God, Thor and his beautiful mate, Sif seemed oddly appropriate.

The day of the party arrived and I spent the afternoon getting myself ready for the party. My costume looked deceptively simplistic but showed off my long, tan legs and a daring amount of cleavage to great advantage. I decided I should keep my hair simple as well, pulling the sides back with combs so that my long blonde tresses fell in a cascade of curls down my back. One last glance in the mirror satisfied me that I looked very Sif-like, and I left the room to join my Norse God downstairs.

He stood as I entered the room and I was struck by how the costume seemed to suit him perfectly. He looked every inch the devastatingly handsome God he portrayed. I gave him a seductive little smile and wondered if maybe we shouldn’t just stay at home for the evening, but the lure of an exciting party won out. Anyway it was a forgone conclusion that I would have him in his sexy costume before the night was through. I could wait.

When we arrived at the party we quietly slipped in unnoticed and began to mingle among the crowd, being very careful to keep a low profile.

The norse god, Thor

This would be a first. My insane girlfriend had overheard a conversation about a private costume party and talked me into joining it with her. Join is an euphimism for crash. We were even a bit on the edge with our costumes. She told me the theme was Greek (no, dammit, I'm straight!) but the costumes she had chosen were themed Viking. I must admit that she looks great in the costume. When I saw her, lacivious thoughts went through my head, but I got a "down boy," from her so I desisted.

Fortunately there was no one at the door to greet so we slipped in and began to mingle. I was very glad that the hammer I was carrying to complete my costume was made of aluminum or something. It looked fearsome, but was actually very light.

I scooped up a couple of glasses of champagne from a table and followed 'Sif' into the room.

Cupid

I smiled.
"Even were I ordered by lord Zeus himself, how could I refuse an offer by the fairest lady that was ever seen on the earth or above? Let me put down these my weapons of office, for though their power is one I delight in, they can be most cumbersome."
I set down the quiver and the bow against the wall, and frowned in mock surprise.
"Strange. It seems that two arrows are missing. Well, wherever they have got to, I can only hope that they caused no harm."
Winking at her ever so slightlt I took Psyche by the hand and led her towards the middle of the room--just as slow music began playing, as if on cue.

His arm along my waist felt strong, and right as he led me to the floor. He wrapped his arms around me and the music began. Slowly, tauntingly it wove it's way through us. It's magic weaving around and above. I closed my eyes, losing myself to it and him.

Hermes

I watched admiringly as Andi teasingly sashayed away from me. I smiled as a cheesy line sprang to mind, as they often seem to with me...I hate to see you go, but I LOVE to watch you leave...

I set of in pursuit of my divine virgin for the evening, acknowledging several of the other guests with a nod and a smile as I passed.

Catching up with her, I took her glass from her hand and put it down on a table along with mine. Taking her hand gently in mine, I kissed her fingers lightly.

"Would my goddess care to dance?"

Sif

The party seemed to be in full swing. The hostess had done a fantastic job with the decorations and costumes. I was completely awed by her obvious talent.

It appeared that very few of the guests knew each other so it was easy to blend into the crowd. I accepted the glass of champagne Thor handed me and we made our way around the room, chatting amicably with several other couples.

The music had just started and other couples were taking the dance floor. “Would you like to dance with me?” I asked my escort with a beseeching smile.

Thor

I took Sif's hand and bowed; a most courtly gesture if I do say so myself. "I would be honored to bask in the reflected light of a goddess."

Then I slowly unbent from the waist - my eyes travelling slowly up her lush body. I am sure the twinkle and yes, the glitter of desire, were both gleaming in their blue depths. I hooked my hammer on a convenient hook on my belt and enfolded her in my arms.......

Hera

I turned around as I heard a faint sound behind me - and it took me a second before I realised that I had to lower my gaze to detect the source of the little motion that had made me spin around. There he was - obviously my Zeus - on his knees, half hidden behind a huge bouquet of roses that had a suspicious similarity with the ones decorated all across the room.

Although I had taken the decision to play "hard-to-get" and make him work off his "dept" for being late, in that instant I couldn't be angry with him. His eyes beamed from behind the delicate petals in a mixture of hesitation and agony for fear of an angry outburst from my side, sprinkled with a good dose of charming mischief ... and I thought "I can understand now how he could conuer all those mortal women without a problem ...." , feeling my own lips curl in a smile without any of my doing.

Finally I gave in and extended a hand in a what I hoped to be regal and grand gesture towards him, indicating he was forgiven and should raise to his feet again. I just hoped my own rapidly beating heart, which I feared was easily detectable through the smoky fabric of my dress, wouldn't make me seem to eager to forgive him and to join the other divine couples that were already dancing, cuddled into each others arms ...

aphrodite

The party crashers stood out like a sore thumb, though it was obvious they had made an effort to blend in. Their garb was a give away as the rest of the guests were wearing what was what had been enclosed with the invitation. I wondered how they found out as all invitations had been sent to private homes. I shrugged, they had made such pains to attend and attempt to blend in that I wasn't going to spoil things by having them leave.

I murmured something to Heph and asked him to keep Athena company while I attended to something.

I slide through the curtains, what had been a perfectly planned evening for twelve was now becoming a lot of work to accomadate two more people. I found a small loveseat and lugged it back. I was mentally deciding where it could be placed and slide it through the curtains and fit it in. I smiled at my guests and headed back out, finding another set of goblets and placing them by the crystal bowl. I poured myself a drink and drank it slowly trying to cheer myself up. Everyone was having a good time at least and I headed off again making up another trail of fresh fruit and carrying it back in setting it on the closest thing to a pedestal I could find.

I saw that Zues and Hera were dancing, and I picked up the roses and put them back in place.

I put on a smile and saw Heph being charming to Athena, I felt tinge of envy as she had enjoyed his company while I had to accomodate the party crashers.

Persephone

OCC: Sorry, Ren, work has been hell.

IC: The chatter of the other party goers seemed to fade in his presence. Even the arrival of party crashers barely registered, the only thing I was interested in was Hades. Finishing my glass of champagne and reaching for another, I allowed my toga to slip from one shoulder, baring creamy skin. "Shall we find a quiet place to be alone or would you prefer a dance, my lord?"

Remembering little of the Roman mythology I studied in school, I hoped the original Persephone was something of a forward type of girl. Hade's thin toga and clingy boxers were proving to be quite a distraction.

OOC HerrHaller you weren't invited, I'm sorry this thread was by invitation only.

OOC: Intreguess, can you please explain why we were not asked to leave your thread in the same malicious manner you ejected HerrHaller?

IC: I had to stop myself from giggling at his gallant response, until I saw the look in his stunning blue eyes. It was enough to wipe the amusement from my face and send a thrill down my spine.

He captured me in his close embrace and stepped into the dance with effortless grace. He danced divinely, and I smiled up into his face. Between his devilish good looks and his charm, I didn’t stand a chance.

Hades

OOC: No prob, Kitten. Been having my own problems keeping me from the RPs lately also. :)

IC: Trying my best to ignore the interruption of the party crashers, my full attention stays on Persephone during our conversation. The garments she had on were not doing a good job in leaving much to the imagination. Although, what I was seeing of her could not be done justice by a simple fantasy. While the others continued with their own dutys, we had spent the time getting to know each other more. She was a very charming young woman.

Finishing the last of my drink, I respond to her, "A dance would be very nice. However, this area is pretty crowded for such activities at the moment. Perhaps, finding a more quiet place to be alone, would be the best option?"

Letting the look in her lovely eyes do the answering, I put away the glass to follow her lead. This place was so large, it would surely be easy to get some privacy away from the others for awhile. The night was young, but there was still so much to get around to before it would end.

Thor

....exuding my usual male sensuality, I whirled and spun Sif about the floor. I could feel the eyes on us as we tripped the light fantastic. We were, of course, accustomed to attention as we had been named King and Queen of Dance at the country club ball in our lovely little community.

OOC if you expected to be booted why did you party crash?
HerrHaller had no idea of the theme of party and was overall fairly rude in his assessment of what the party would be like. You however made an effort to blend in, which I stated in my post about noticing and accomodating party crashers. Besides I know Thor and he's a good guy, so that's why.

To prove a point. Since this is a public forum there can be no private threads. If people wish to role-play privately they should do so by e-mail or on a private message board. The idea that you need an invitation to participate in a thread here is ludicrous, and the fact that you very rudely informed a new member that he was not welcome was malicious and petty. HerrHaller you will notice has not posted on the board since your little set down and I don’t blame him. If I had received such a gracious welcome when I first came to the board I’m sure I wouldn’t have stayed either.

And to those whining about the disturbance we made, please note that the only disturbance was made out of character. In character we didn’t do anything except mingle and dance. If anyone had a problem with my OOC posts they should have stopped hiding behind their character and addressed me directly.

HerrHaller had no idea of the theme of party and was overall fairly rude in his assessment of what the party would be like.

I saw nothing wrong with HerrHaller’s post; in fact I thought it was pretty good, considering it was his first. I’m glad I wasn’t judged so harshly on my first post.

You however made an effort to blend in, which I stated in my post about noticing and accomodating party crashers. Besides I know Thor and he's a good guy, so that's why.

So what your saying is that since we meet your standards, it’s okay that we role-play with you. I’m sorry, it doesn’t work that way, or at least it shouldn’t!

IC: After the song ended, I looked up to see our hostess lugging furniture in a most undignified fashion. “Poor thing,” I thought. “Any accomplished hostess knows the first rule is to always be prepared for any eventuality, even unexpected guests.”

I turned to Thor and said, “I think we have worn out our welcome, we should go.”

He nodded his agreement and we quietly left the same way we came in.

OOC

I would just like to say I've set up several party threads and this one I spent a lot of time setting up. I didn't go into the set up in begining because it was made clear in another thread. If I treated HerrHaller unfairly it's because while his post was fine, it was not within the lines of the party. I do not believe I treated him unfairly. I do believe that you were being fairly stupid in proving a point.

Now that I've attempted to clear myself on with the party and everyone should have fun.

IC

the party crashers left with the same grace they entered, and even less politeness. I let out a sigh of relief rearranged the curtains to hide the extra furniture and removed the extra goblets. I was tired and went and lounged on my sofa, adorned in hearts and roses. I sighed softly and smiled as I watched my guests enjoying themselves.
