I seriously don't get Literotica's guidelines sometimes. They have stories where character's names switch back and forth. They have stories that have misspelling in the story titles. And these stories get approved. But mine gets rejected because the " is in the wrong place. It's how I have always been told to write. But it doesn't match Lit's standards. It makes no sense to me. Has anyone else had similar issues.

That does seem pretty picky. Mine have never been rejected for that reason though. I find some sort of error whenever I reread one of my stories (typo, left a word out, etc).

No, I don't have an editor. I did a spell check. Spelling is fine. Oh well. It just bothers me, you know?

Yeah, of course it does. I suggest finding a volunteer editor. Spell check doesn't catch everything, and someone else reading it could help you get to the bottom of why it was rejected.

You know, Spellcheck doesn't catch all errors. If you confuse there/their or its/it's or cant/can't or angel/Angel or, if you have a typo and wanted to say "here" and it came out "her" or thousands of other things, Spellcheck will accept it, because the error is an actual word. You have to eyeball everything.

Yep, others have had similar issues, and repeated rejections for "spelling and punctuation" that don't make any appaent sense.

One thing I've noticed is that a good many of those with "nitpicking" rejections such as you're complaining about submitted their stories in Rich Text Format (.RTF) files.

I've also noticed that most of the people who complain about their stories being corrupted and the format being mangled whent hey finally do get them approved also have the RTF format in common.

So, if you are among those who submitted in Rich Text Format, try again with a plain text (with HTML for Italics and Bold) or C&P submission that eliminates the excessive (and 'bot confusing) format codes of Rich Text Format so your story can get past the 'bot that pre-screeens stories for gross spelling and punctuation errors but can't deal with RTF files.

Also, put a note in the comments field that you feel the story was unfairly rejected for punctuation and spelling when you resubmit.

I always copy and paste into the text box. And I've never been bounced for spelling or grammar errors-- unfortunately, in some cases

I cut and paste and have never had a rejection for grammar/punctuation/spelling/format either. I suspect that some of the unevenness probably results from unevenness in scrutiny of submissions.

No rejections for me either ( letting quite a few spelling mistakes, misused words, poor punctuation, and other screw ups go through, requiring edits when readers caught them )

I submit by uploading plain text files already marked up with html tags for italic, bold, etc.

If you can't preview it, then you're increasing your chances of rejection due to extra scrutiny of an actual living person reviewing the story ( and increasing the lag between submission and posting )

Plain text/cut and paste with any necessary formatting inserted via html tags is the way to go for speedy posting.

Just be prepared to go back and edit the stuff you screwed up *laugh*
