Veterans Day 2009

Thank you, veterans, past, present and future, for the service and sacrifice you give. Freedom is not free.

In April, 2009, General Eric Shinseki, Director of the Veteran Affairs gave a speach to a mental health convention. He said that since 2002, more veterans have committed suicide than have been killed in Iraq or Afganistan.

Please folks, they need all the support we can give them.

In quiet surrender I rest in the sumber of a long deep sleep knowing I have fought the battles my country sent me to fight. My brothers and sisters forget me nye for we once soldiered together and live by the words "leave no one behind" today again we celebrate those who now sleep and those of who came home, yet find at this the moment we are with our fallen comrades rememberance "leave no one behind",solder.

I just want to say thank you to all the men and women who have served in our military.
I firmly beleive that our military is the best in the world and represents some of the best people in our society.

I posted this in the general board already; no harm in a little copy and paste action is there?

For the men and women both living and dead,

For those who have served and are still serving with selfless dedication; for those who have made and are still making sacrifices so that our country is kept free I want to say, from the depths of my soul -- thank you.

From an active duty Sailor to those that carried the banner before me and those that currently do around the world. Thank you for your time, lives and liberties.

Please remember:

Those that have faught for it, freedom has a flavor the defended will never know.

Remember to thank a veteran every day.

Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country. You are the ones that our children should be taught to use as role models.

A thank you seems so small - to those that gave all - their families left behind to carry on and grieve. The sons and daughters who never came home. The fathers who never watched their children grow. The husbands who left their wives to clutch a letter to her chest. And even the ones who so long ago was scorned and booed for their part in the war - and the hatred they endured - held their heads up high and came home from a world they had not know before. A heartfelt gratitude that we can never repay - a freedom we enjoy.

My stepfather is a veteran of WWII and the year he placed the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, I was in awe as the Marines assisted him and broke rank to catch him as he stumbled walking down the steps on his prosthetic leg. He lost both legs in the war and his hearing.

Forever proud, forever humble, forever thankful....

To all of the men and women of this great nation that served in the armed forces past thank you. To all the young men and women serving today you are today’s true heroes. Thank you for giving of your time and energy. May God speed your safe return back to us.

From a naturalized citizen to all veterans ~ Thank you for protecting us and our freedom of speech :rose:

Because of health, I was not able to fight in the Vietnam war. I lost many friends.
And I welcomed some home. To all of those men and women who have fought for us. THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU for all that you have done for us.
