Vets and newbies

What a disappointment... playing down one for such a long time and then losing in the shootout... that was a cheap red card on Rooney... Now that the lads are out, don't know who to cheer for... Take care sexy lady... and keep smiling.. :)

A red card for stomping an opponent's groin? I'm not a football fanatic, but that seems an ejectable foul in any organized sport. No matter what offense preceeded the groin kick, that showed a complete lack of class and a total meltdown considering this was the biggest game of the young man's life... So much of being able to compete in pressure situations is mental; let the referee handle things, play the game without being distracted.

I agree... that...sven's ineptitude in selecting only 4 strikers in the squad and our chokingly awful penalties (yet again!!) are the reason we lost. No other reason.

It was bad of Ronaldo to go waving fake cards in te ref's face though, and that sould have warranted a card, as that's what FIFA have said... and the fact that he and Rooney play for the same team may have been why he got so annoyed... but again, that doesn't excuse the stamp at all. He needs to calm down.. they've been using his youth as an excuse for years now and it's getting kinda old.

COME ON ITALY!!! :)

I believe the red card was for the push.. not stepping on the other player... but even though, they still played Portugal tough for the rest of the match... Now that France has beaten Brazil... an all Europe Final Four.. should be interesting... don't know who to cheer for..

A sad day for me, boys, as my two favorites both go down (and deservedly so.) I agree with Trav, Rooney lost his temper & deserved the card... what of Beckham? What was the extent of HIS injury? CM, you are right, Sven played way too conservatively the whole tourney. The boys should have been playing the whole game as they did in OT. And then, tip your hat to the Portuguese keeper... Ricardo was the difference.

BTW ~ I hear Renaldo may sign with Real Madrid.... bet he won't be welcomed back to Man U!

Then the French played incredibly well today. They deserved the win. Brazil disappointed me, never truly playing the joyous game for which they are known.

Now... Germany & France are my favorites... hope they meet next Sunday!

I B&W my av in mourning!

After all, the bedroom is NOT a soccer pitch! :p

Hun, I've run into my share of southerner's who would say otherwise. Though I have to admit, it did take Virginia a little longer to pick a side.

But history says, without Virginia......

Anyways, you'll always be Southern to me!

Well, you know what they say, Virginia is for Lovers. Lovers, not fighters. But then again, threaten a southern man's woman, and then there are no fiercer fighters, goes for Virginian's too.

:D Glad to know that. :) And as far as the original topic on southern lovers, well, I've had no complaints in that department yet. ;)

No... but I'd LOVE to get in your penalty area for some extra-time LBM. ;)
