Victory & Glory

It didn't feel like he wanted to talk, but Victory didn't mind. Even if she was startled by his sudden embrace, that didn't make it any less welcomed. She missed how strong he was, how easily he lifted her into his arms. The night that changed their relationship almost 20 years ago started with Jason lifting her up onto his shoulder fireman style after she stumbled on a tree root. She swooned despite herself then, just like she did now.

Her body responded to his touch, the same as it always had. Her skin tingled where his work rough hands touched her. Her mouth opened as soon as his lips touched hers an unspoken invitation to his tongue. Or whatever other body part he wished to push inside it.

All she could was moan to his suggestions of amends, Victory was beyond words at this point, wrapped in her husband's embrace. She almost pouted when he set her down on the couch but Jason was on her before she could open her mouth to protest. His big hand wrapped in her hair, yanking her to him with a tight grip. The force of his pull shocked her a little, it had been so long since they enjoyed such rough play and Victory relished it. She felt his urgency and did nothing to quell it, Victory didn't want him to stop. She needed it just as bad as he did. It felt all the passion of the year they spent apart came out in this moment as he pawed at her and nibbled at her ear.

"I want to make it better Blue Jay...really I do," she said, her tone pleading as she shoved her hand up his shirt to run her nails along his bare skin. He was a little furrier than she remembered but that only added to her want for him. This rugged cowboy she fell in love with all those years ago. "This is probably a bad idea but I'm too drunk to keep it to myself...I want you inside me Jason," she said already working on his jeans. "I want you so bad baby...I never stopped wanting you Jay...please just this once let's pretend everything's okay. That neither one of us fucked up. I just want to feel you again."

Victory gave up on his stupid button fly and decided to concentrate on her own clothes, quickly yanking her shirt off and tossing it away before she lean back to wiggle out of her yoga pants. No pants and just a sports bra, Victory pulled Jason down on top of her by his shirt front, her long runner's legs wrapped quickly around his torso to keep him in place. "Fuck me Jason...I want to feel how much you missed me," she moaned in his ear.

"How is having sex with the woman I love a bad idea. I always want to make love with you baby and all is right with the world when I'm inside you," he said as he panted on top of her. It hadn't been this hot and heavy in awhile and his only worry was he would cum all over her out of excitement. He'd done that once or twice. A good blow job or tit fucking he let his seed fly on her face or in her hair. Some women might call that dirty but for them it was of closeness. She called it porn star sex.

With her legs firmly around him he reached out and caressed her face and hair. "I love you Victory, but I want to use you so bad tonight."

With that he yanked her sports bra off over her head not really being gentle but not trying to hurt her either. He exposed more of her lovely brown skin and those beautiful tits with the dark nipples he just had to kiss. He groped her breasts, kissed them, licked them and even nibbled on them only to move up to her neck kissing. His hands run up and down her sides as he dry humped her in his jeans. His jeans felt so tight when she was like this.

A wanton goddess he'd been familiar with so many times before but the passions were overwhelming. He broke free of he strong but sensually soft legs to undress. More of him yanking off his shirt, boots socks and jeans soon followed. His cock hard against his boxer briefs sprung out as he pulled them down and stepped out of them. Only the pendant she gave him as a symbol of their love with charms for the girls remained on him.

He looked at her naked legs spread with one hanging off the couch and the other up on the cushions. Tonight it wasn't about making love to his wife this was more primal even if just in that moment. He grabbed her muscular thighs and pulled her towards him and rolled her around so she'd be facing the wall. He caressed her lovely ass and reached between her legs and groped her sex even probing her with his fingers. Oh yes she was ready for him.

He guided his cock into her warm wet vagina and began thrusting into her as deep as he could hands on her hips. Pushing off the floor as he stood doing the sensual in and out that was fucking. He kept going so hard wanting to hear the sounds feel the stirring inside her body that let him know she enjoyed his cock deep and side her and experience the pleasures of orgasm. He kept banging with one hand on her hip and the other reaching for her left breast.

"Oh god Vic I've missed you like this!"

"I love you Victory, but I want to use you so bad tonight."

She could have came right then. If Jason had been inside Victory would have but he was still trapped inside his jeans. Victory could feel him throbbing as he thrust against her as he feasted on her breasts. She would have tried to help but he had her pinned down so tight she couldn't mover her arms. The best she could do was lift his shirt up his newly rounded stomach. There were still some abs there but it was clear her husband liked his beer and ribs, but that didn't make him any less hot.

She catcalled him as he pulled away to undress. Put her fingers between her lips to whistle as he strip off his boxers and his cock bounced free. "Mmmm I missed him too," she slurred a little as she reached down to tease her pussy. It was more an involuntary reaction to seeing him naked again, Victory had been soaking wet since he lifted her off that bar stool. She reached out to him as he came closer, her eyes on his cock as it bob with each step he took. She wanted it in her mouth, for him to gag her on it.

But of course Jason had other plans and Victory let out a squeal as he yanked her around, his hand gripping and groping her roughly like she was some prize pig at the state fair not his wife. But that didn't stop Victory from moaning and rocking her ass back to grind against him. "Please Jason...I need it so bad...I need you..." Then he was inside her Victory forgot all about the girls sleeping upstairs and screamed his name.

"Oh god Vic I've missed you like this!"

"I know baby...oh god do I know," she gasped as she sat up off the couch to press her back to his chest. The couch was the perfect height, allowing her to bounce down to meet his hard thrust. Every stroke ended with a hard jab against her g-spot and her body trembled in no time. "I miss how you make me cum Blue Jay...how good you feel inside me...you feel so good baby," she moaned, her head back against his shoulder as she scrambled to find his hands to pull tight around her body. "Don't let me go Jason...please don't let me go..."

Victory reached back to grab the back of his neck, bowing her back as she pulled Jason down for a kiss so rough their teeth collided. Victory was sure she tasted blood but that didn't stop her from sucking his tongue into her mouth like she wanted to his cock. It was that kiss that sent her over the edge and her nails dug into the back of his neck as orgasm rocked through her. Her hips writhed wildly and she lost her grip on him, tumbling forward with her face buried in the cushion.

"Don't stop Jay...please baby don't stop..."

Her nails, her flesh, her yearnings all let him know she appreciated what hew as doing. The fact that she was on her knees and there was still a damp spot on the couch To him that she was in bliss and he was loving it too. Any awkward feelings or worries went away as they savaged each other. This was the kind of sex you had with someone you loved and desired. There were no limits you worried you'd cross with another person. The bottom line he'd always rather fuck her then someone else. He wouldn't know what to do with someone else.

Right now though he had the person he wanted and his cock twitched and strained. Masturbation was never as good with a partner and his body knew it. He could cum from thoughts of this woman but he revelled in her orgasms. Her cries to hold her even after the scratching and the banging let him know she needed to be close to him and he would share more with her even if it didn't seem like it.

He pulled out of her warm wet love hole and could feel the disappointment in her body before she uttered a word so he said, "I'm not done yet Vic and I'll hold you close baby all night."

He stood up still hard and turned he around. She seemed to have an idea and her legs opened for him and once again he lifted her up, but as he did he inserted his hard cock to her again. She hugged him tight with her strong legs and crossed her ankles and held on to his neck but only after glancing her long nails over his flesh. He kissed her hard and licked her face loving her scent.

"Not much longer baby. I like having you this close Vic."

With his hands on her butt grasping her cheeks tight he began thrusting good and hard the last bit of the way there. They couldn't help but look in each other's eyes and hold on. Bodies covered in sweat, muscles begging to hang on and thrusting and fucking together. It was a strain to hold back though and as he pumped he knew she could feel his body tense and the build up came hard and fast.

His cock went like a shotgun building up pressure and exploding inside her. He filled her with his warm seed, but not only did he cum but orgasm as well. He felt the shiver go through his body but kept thrusting until he began to feel soft. He kissed Victory hard again and gently lowered her down to the couch placing her long ways. They couch was big but still two adults meant he laid down on his side next to her and as he put his arm out she move up and laid on it and cuddled up close her face close to his.

Her nails caressed down his chest and there were a few moments of heavy breathing. He was sweaty and even a little sore as he lay there semi-hard. He caressed down her body and looked at her in the light of love and lust. He loved how their skin tones looked together. How her hair was bedhead just had sex look to it, and how they smelled of each other. He caressed her back as she leaned over to hold him.

Almost weakly and pleading but with a firmness as he caressed her he said, "I don't want us to be done for tonight. I don't want to fight baby and this isn't a hook up. I'm fucking my wife because I love doing that. Want some water and maybe we pull out the bed and christen that too?"

He held her hand fingers interlaced and looked in her eyes. "We tell them we watched sports all night okay? Your still beautiful Victory and I still like making you blush."

And blush she did, even as Victory kissed his fingers then nuzzled her face against his chest and his strong torso a squeeze before she slipped out his embrace. "I've got something better that water," she said with a grin as she grabbed his discarded t-shirt and slipped it on. "You take care of the bed...blankets, pillows, and stuff are in the ottoman," she told him, indicating the upholstered trunk that sat alongside the entertainment center. She picked up the the remote and flipped on the television which she always left on the sports mix channel. The 55 inch screen was split into a grid of screens showcasing all the primary sports networks and as usual she picked her employers. Not because she was a company man, Victory liked it well before they started paying her.

The nightly wrap up was just getting started, letting her know it was only 11. Plenty of time to get reacquainted with her husband who mumbled and cussed as he fumbled with the bed. As usual she offered no assistance, separated or not, Victory knew her husband and Jason never took kindly to her unsolicited advice. "I'm a man Vic I'll figure it out," he said to her more than once. It took a few years and several pieces of broken furniture and appliances before she gave up. If anything the sound of his muttering only made this place feel more like home to her.

But eventually he figured it out, just as she dug out her prized from the back of the beer fridge behind the bar. "Remember that first night at your ratty bachelor pad," she said with a grin as she stood up. A ziploc sandwich bag in one hand and a brown paper one in the other. "Boxes everywhere. You still had your mattress on the floor even though you promised to buy a bedroom set before I moved in. 'I figured you'd want to pick it Vic'," she said, the last in a mimic of his slight draw as she went around the room lighting candles and turned off the lights before she came to sit on the successfully made pull out bed. "Even though I was right pissed at you, I still gave you some and we rechristened that cozy one-bedroom like when you moved in. We were fighting when I closed on this place but I still held out hope that you would at least come and see that I never meant for this to be some sex in the city divorcee sanctuary...and I'm not trying to set the blame in your lap...just explaining this," she said as she dumped the bags on the bed between them. A pint of Coco Loco mad dog and a pack of Marlboro Menthol Light 100s, both unopened.

"You hated that I smoked, even though every pair of jeans you owned had a permanent Skoal ring in the back left pocket," she added with a grin as she crawled up to the top of the bed and he lay between her outstretched legs. "I thought if we could relive that night then...repeat all those little rituals we used to all those years ago that maybe...just maybe we could fix whatever broke between us. I want to fix it Jay," she said as she ripped open the cigarettes and shook one out before she closed the pack and put it back in the bag. Without an actual cigarette lighter, Victory had to use one of the long matches she had for candles and nearly singed off her eyebrows as she lit the smoke. The first drag was harsh on her recovered lungs but still she took another before she twisted the cap off the cheap liquor they used to drink before their palates, and wallets, were sophisticated enough to afford better. "God that's terrible," she said with giggled but still she took another sip before she put the bottle on his chest.

"I love you Jason Smith and I don't want to fight anymore either. This isn't going to be easy but We can figure it out...I know we can," she said and planted a kiss on the top of his head, chuckling a little. "I hate to say it but my mom was right. Me going to see that lawyer was just plain lazy and stupid. Marriage is hard work if you do it right and I want to do this right Jay...you mean too much for me to let you go."

She couldn't just say the storage bin with the cushions on it. Everything always had to have a fancy name. With some effort though he got to bed made, and smiled as he laid out the sheets and quilt. One of her mother's friends had a side business making quilts and to her credit the group of older ladies were industrious. Seemed everyone in town had at least one and he knew Victory loved their oversized softness. The country girl was still in there.

When she talked about the old place and the things they shared he smiled knowingly and laughed a little after taking a drink and a drag. Which made her look at him inquire, "what is so funny baby?"

"I thought you liked our first place. You said you didn't want us to live in the apartment your parent's had above the barn."

"I loved you and that happened to be the place you had, and honey it was a barn! They have cows and horses the next level down. Hell no!"

He listened to all the rest of what she was saying and it was moving. She wanted to work things out. What solutions they would come up with weren't even remotely clear to him, and he doubted her either but they'd find them. Problem was they both wanted different things, so they had to make modifications to the way they were living their lives. Thing was it couldn't completely be one sided, and both needed to find a way to meet in the middle.

"Your mother really said that. I mean she wants us together?"

"Yes she did. Both of them did, but mom wants us to work it out."

"That's sweet I will have to tell the old Bruja I appreciate that next time I see her at the store."

Victory gave him a look of anger and begin playfully hitting him. "I ask you to learn a little Spanish and what do you? You learn every dirty word, curse, and insult!"

"Hey hey that is just so I know when your parents are talking about me puta."

"You you jerk you were lucky I said I would marry you considering all those shanky chicks you dated before me. I saved myself for you!"

Ahem "Ah my lovely wife are you saying you were a virgin until our wedding."

"Well no but I saved myself for three weeks until we got married though."

"I remember we hung out like this well we stayed dressed and watched movies and cuddled."

"It was nice. You took that great picture of me in a bride t-shirt spitting out dip. I hope the girls never see that one."

"They might I keep a copy of it in the sun visor of the one farm truck."

With that she smiled and put out the cigarette. They each took another drink and she cuddled up laying on his chest. Her nails caressed him and he held her tight. He knew they were talking about sports but he could care less as the candle light flickered off her beautiful brown skin.

He whispered to her softly, "sleep down here baby. We've done the apart thing enough already. That might become part of the equation, but let's enjoy it when we can."

She cooed happily. It wasn't a typical response, but it was good as any verbal one.

Meanwhile back in South Range Carmen Cardoza was laying in bed trying to sleep. It not that she wasn't tired, but she had a lot on her mind besides the awkward feelings any woman experienced when carrying a child. The fifth time wasn't any easier, but at least she knew what to expect. Judy had been a huge help feeding the boys, getting ready for bed and doing story time. It's funny they were always pest to get to bed, but Judy found a way.

She had them all "camp out" in the leaving room sleeping in their sleeping bags. She read them a story and soon they were drifting off. She said Mama V had taught her that one. It wasn't like Victory had another bedroom to stick the girls in, but I'm sure she made an inconvenience seem more like a fun adventure.

Now though she began feeling like someone was touching her. It wasn't entirely unpleasant but she as alone on this level of the house. What was going on? She shot up in bed sitting up she turned on the light and look in shock at the end of the bed.

"Danny? What what are you doing home? Your a day early," she asked looking at him as he held her foot in hand sitting on the edge of the bed in only his Army shorts and t-shirt.

"Hey Carmen. I got my work done early and well could have stayed but I wanted to get back as soon as I could. I took Judy home and made lunches and stuff for tomorrow. Breakfast won't take me long. All the boys are sleeping. I put out extra blankets in case."

"Honey that is great, but I still need Judy's help and why did you come home? I mean you said you had stuff to do and the Army always wants to keep you longer."

"I know but I told them I could only stay the required time, and don't worry Judy is coming back. I needed to tell her about my schedule changes so we could split things up. I want to be a good dad, and I love you."

"Honey I know you love me and the boys and you'll love our daughter too. What's wrong?"

"I never could hide much from you Carmen. Well Jason called me. Yelled at me pretty good too. Said being deployed was one thing, but when you were home you should be around. Never take your wife and kids for granted or I could end up in an empty farm too."

She looked at a man who'd been to Iraq three times, countless natural disasters, and survived so much less actually look scared. Maybe even a few tears in the dim light.

"Oh honey I...I'm not going anywhere. I want us to be happy together. I have a lot of dreams, but they include you. Come over here honey."

He moved over to his side of the bed and she pulled out the body pillow that was in the middle and snuggled up close. He brushed aside her long dark hair and they kissed and his hand went to rub her belly and she smiled and kissed him again.

"I love you and want to have babies with you honey. Be around more then just enough time to make them okay."

He nuzzled her and kissed her neck and said, "I'll be around more so you can live more of your dreams."

With that she pulled off the extra extra large t-shirt she slept in and exposed her curvy sex body to him as he pulled back the sheets and admired her in the dim light. He reached out and caressed her face.

"We don't have to if your to tired."

"No we're both tired but I'm happy to see you. Very happy. Besides what are you going to do? Get me more pregnant?"

The smile in her face told him everything he needed to know. He quickly got naked and they were soon caressing and kissing in bed. Desire came quickly to them. With all the pillows she propped herself up and they enjoyed side by side sex. Him still looking in her eyes as they kissed and he penetrated her at another angle. Back home sex with her soldier boy was some of the best sex Carmen enjoyed. Never mind her mind was at ease with what Danny said. Before she got lost in orgasms she knew she'd have to give the big lug a hug.

At the other side of town Debbie Farmer watched the dogs play in the backyard. They'd taken care of business, but like a bunch of children they liked to frolic and play about. Her husband and sons had taken care of the business of the farm for the day earlier, and she enjoyed the time over at the Smith's as her quite time. She fed the dogs and returned books to Victory's book shelf. Now she watched Peaches wonder through the barn visiting all the cats there. Such a sweet lovely grandmotherly type dog.

She sighed though looking about the place. This wasn't their farm though, and while Victory and Jason never treated them like hired help, hell they treated them like family, they didn't have their own little piece of the world. Her husband the hard working son of a bitch that she loved didn't seem to have any long term plans. She kept giving him papers from the local realtor that showed all kinds of farms, but he said the trailer was fine and so was his job.

She wasn't going to walk out like Victory did, but she was going to have to make some changes too. What if Victory and Jason did get divorced? What if they didn't and they sold the land. The next owner might not be so interested in having live in help. There were also the boys to think about. Her job working for the town department of public works was where they got their insurance from, and she'd pick South Range because of the school. It so happened that they found wonderful employers that also turned into great friends. She didn't want to be a bitch, but she needed her man to put more of his ingenuity into his family's life.

They'd been asleep for at least an hour when Jason woke up blinking his eyes. Most of the candles were out, but the TV was still on. Well that wasn't good he thought as he caressed Victory's lovely mane of hair as she lay on his chest. He gently lifted her head over to the pillow and she moaned something out that he couldn't quite understand.

As he got up he whispered to her,"go back to sleep baby I'll take care of things."

He walked about the room bare as he took care of the candles. He also made sure the basement door was shut before walking back over to the TV. It was late night sports from somewhere, so he flipped around the channels until he found one of the music ones and put on some pleasant background music. Then he walked back to the bed and found Victory laying there awake legs spread smiling in what little light came from the TV.

He nodded and walked over to her and climbed on the bed and move between her legs. He could smell her arousal and reached down and gently caressed her clit and laid down on her side. He kissed her as he caressed her, and she reached out and caressed him as well. God her hands felt so good on him. They kissed and caressed for awhile, but it was clear there was no lack of desire. So once again he rolled over on her body.

With hands on his shoulders he pushed his firm cock into her warm wet vagina and moaned as experienced that wonderful feeling again. He started going in and out hard and fast. The bed didn't make to much noise but it creaked some as they made love. Victory raised her legs up in the air making a "V" so he would go even deeper and soon he moved to lift her legs up with his arms as be slammed in and out good and hard.

There was panting and moaning, but a great deal of effort to not make to much noise. He was sure anyone who had kids in the house practiced this method of sex, and they weren't going to stop now even if the girls were several floors away and not down the hall. Happy smiles and twisted bodies let him know she was enjoying many little orgasms. He kept thrusting and pumping until he found release. He exploded inside her for the second time that night.

After a few more good thrusts he pulled out of her and moved over next to her. She put a leg over his and put her hear back on his chest. They didn't need to talk. When you loved someone you knew how to express it without saying a word.

Victory woke up with a start. Her head swimming from the cheap liquor, mouth tasting like charred tobacco. Her tired eyes drifted from side to side, searching the darkness for some clue as to where she was. The throb in her back told her it wasn’t her own bed that she slept in, plus the layout of the room was all wrong. Confused, she tried to sit up but was weighed down by an and leg of unknown origin. Then there was the snoring. A buzz saw through a two by four followed by a quiet gasp and the sound brought a smile to her lips.

Jason. It wasn’t a dream, but still she ran her hand down his back just to be sure causing him to stir and rollover, releasing her from his grasp. That wasn’t exactly what she wanted and Victory sat up on her elbow to look at him, the smile on her face unchanged. Deep down she knew sex was the easy part of their resolution, intimacy had never been their issue. Even when things first started getting rough between them, they still took the occasional tumble in the sack to relieve the stress of their days. And even when they were fighting, and not speaking, their bodies still ended up in tangles in slumber. They should have took that as a sign, but they were both too stubborn to admit the love that still remained between them.

One hurdle conquered, Victory leaned down to kiss his parted lips. She glanced up at the neon clock on the wall above the bar and grinned. Still a couple hours before she had to wake the girls and get them off to school. That was more than enough time for another round and she slipped out of his t-shirt, pulled back the sheets to reveal his still taut body. Sure things had softened and rounded over the years but Jason still held the physique of a man who labored for a living. Victory traced the dividing line between his pecks with her tongue, giggling softly at the sound of his caught breath. He mumbled her name, ran his hand up her back to tangle in her hair as she planted soft kisses down his stomach, ran her tongue along the hard ridges of his V.

“Aww Vic you don’t have to,” he groaned as she drag her lips down his shaft.

“But I need to,” she said before she ran her tongue around his tip. Victory took in a deep breath through her nose, moaned at the scent of their comingled arousal as she slowly took him into her mouth. Jason wasn’t exactly hard yet but that didn’t last long with his length pressed into the back of her throat. Victory took her time, suckling at his shaft lovingly as she ran her nails up and down his thighs until he began to throb in her mouth. She felt him switch the hand that held her long wavy almost black hair back so he could watch her bob up and down. His other hand gripped her ass, occassionally giving her a quick swat before he slipped a finger inside her.

In no time they found a rhythm that worked for both of them and Victory rocked back against his fingers, moaned together as Jason toyed with her g-spot. She missed how he touched her. Victory was by no means a virgin when they got together but no one had ever pleased her the way Jason always had. They never had that awkward first encounter most couples do, he always seemed to know just how to touch her and when.

And now was no different. One hand in her hair, the other gripped her hip and pushed. “Get on it,” he demanded gruffly, bringing a breathy giggle to her lips as she happily did his bidding.

“God Blue Jay you feel so good inside me...I miss how you feel baby,” she said as she slowly rocked her hips back and forth. But that’s not how he wanted it and he told her so without words, pulling her down so that lay chest to chest. His hands on her ass, Jason held her in place while he pounded his cock up into her. All Victory could do was hang on for the ride, her arms locked around his neck, thighs clamped around his torso as the poor pullout bed protested beneath them.

It wasn’t made for these type of shenanigans and eventually it cracked under the pressure. Victory heard the thud of the center bar collapsing, she was sure Jason heard it too, but he was too far gone, too close to stop now. She felt his body tense beneath her, his fingers dug into her flesh as her ass slapped violently against her thighs.

“Together this time baby…”

“Mmmhmm,” he groaned against her neck as his arms closed tight around her torso.

“Just a little more...Just a little more…”

“Mmmhmm...Mmmhmm…”

“Right now Jason...ohhh fuck...right now…”

“Right now,” he grunted as they exploded together, but still he didn’t stop slamming her down into his lap until his cock softened and slid out of her with a plop.

Victory collapsed on top of him with a shudder as he panted beneath her, his strong hand running up and down her back as she planted soft kisses along his neck and chest. "God I missed you," she said with a tired chuckle as she rolled off of him. Withing minutes, she was snoring again.

A little while later and three floors above, music blared through an alarm clock forcing a groan from Lee. She glanced at the door, contemplated slamming it shut. Just as she was about to get up Ramona bound into her room from their bathroom, belting out lyrics.

"Lord please save her for me, do this one favor for me
I had to change my play of ways got way to complicated for me
I hope she's waiting for me
Everywhere she go, they playin' my song
That's why I say the things that I say that way I know you can't ignore me
But so, so
So gimme all of you in exchange for me
Just give me all of you in exchange for me, for me," she sang loud, proud and off key, hopping up on Lee's bed with a brush in her right hand as she serenaded her sister. As much as she hated mornings, Lee couldn't keep from laughing as she kicked at her sister who avoided the lazy blows effortlessly, without missing a lyric.

"I sooo love that song," she said when the song ended and she flopped down across from Lee her legs folded beneath her.

"It's okay..."

"That's why I saw it on your spotify list," Ramona teased and flicked out her tongue before she grabbed Lee's hand to drag her out of bed, pulling her to the window. "What to you think of that," she said with a grin, directing Lee's eyes to the very familiar truck still parked outside, a grin plastered across her face. Lee was the much more practical twin. Her mother would say cynical but she wasn't quite sure of that, but she was certain that they shouldn't get their hopes up just yet. "Cody woke me up a little while ago whining so I took him downstairs to let him out in the yard. On my way back up I peeked into Mom's room just to be sure. Her bed's still made...and so is the guest room," she added with a raised eye brow an Lee couldn't help perk up at that.

"So Daddy stayed and at the very least they spent they night together..."

"Yeah and at most we might have a sibling in nine months..."

"Ewww Mo that's gross!"

"Why? We want them to get back together...besides Mom's on the pill."

"Still it's gross Mo," Lee said with a shiver as she stepped away from the window.

"Well something happened," Ramona said with a grin as she followed Lee into the bathroom. "Mom's usually up by now."

It was the barking that finally woke Victory from blissful slumber, and she groaned as she pulled herself out of Jason's grip. She sat on the side of the bed a moment, reveling in the soreness of her hips. The stickiness between her thighs. All signs of a good night spent making up with the man she loved. But still the barking continued.

"Shit Cody!" Victory shouted as she finally got to her feet, stumbled over one of Jason's stupid boots as she grabbed for her clothes. That's when she noticed the clock. 6:50. The girls only had to be to school in 40 minutes. "Fuck...Fuck...Fuck...Jay you gotta get up," she shouted as she flipped on the lights and tore around the room in search of her clothes from the night before. Her pants were on one end of the couch. Her bra and t-shirt hung off the edge of the bar. A good night indeed. "Jason Smith get your ass up..."

"Aww come on Vic just a couple more minutes," he said groggily, grabbing at her as she passed the bed but she slapped his hand away.

"No Jay not a couple more minutes. The girls have to get to school and I have to get to work and you have to get back to South Range before the town goes to shit."

"Let it," he said as he finally pushed himself up and a smile came to Victory's full lips. "I got more than enough time banked. I'll take the girls. You get yourself together."

It was like music to her ears and she blew him a kiss before she bound up the stairs and sprinted to the back door to let her furry son inside. He lead her to the box with his food and bowls and Victory took his hint, setting him up for breakfast as she shouted upstairs for the girls. She wasn't surprised that they were already dressed and ready to go before she finished calling their names. Both in their powder blue polos but Lee wore black shorts and Doc Marten's that she left loose around her ankles while Ramona sported a knee length khaki skirt and low top Chuck Taylor's the same color as her shirt. They both wore their signature camo hoodies, Lee's in classic green and Mo's a rainbow of purples. Both lugged down back packs and softball bags, making Victory glance at the calendar.

"Shit that's today," she muttered to herself and Ramona snickered behind her while Lee pulled the top off the cookie jar marked "Potty Pennies" and pushed it across the counter. "Ughhh bank it..."

"So I take it we're having breakfast at school," Lee asked with a grin and Victory rolled her eyes. "Don't worry Mom...I'm sure you had a long night," she teased with a raised eyebrow, making her sister burst into giggles and the color rise in her mother's face.

Jason came up just in time to hear that and narrowed his eyes at both girls. He didn't say a word, simply pointed at the door and both filed out with mumbled, "Bye Mommy...Love you." As soon as their backs were turned though, he couldn't keep from grinning at Vic, who shook her fist at him before he stole a kiss. She grabbed his shirt front before he could leave and held him as she opened a drawer.

"The alarm code is our anniversary..**** lock...bottom lock," she said indicating which key was which before she dropped them into his hand. "I love you Jay. I'll call you when I get done today," she promised before she kissed him again. Neither of them saw the girls silently celebrating in the foyer.

"I'll be waiting," he said with that cocky smirk. The same one Victory hated in high school but grew to love over the years.

Once her family was gone, the adrenaline weaned and Victory began to feel the effects of their making up again. Her head pounded and her mouth was so dry she had to chug two mason jars full of water to alleviate it before she headed up stairs to her room to shower off the remnants of last night. "Today is not a day for flyness," she mutter to herself as she pulled out a pair of stretch pants, a loose t-shirt and sweater before she hopped in the shower.

Victory didn't even blow dry her hair, instead spritz it with coconut oil and ran a brush through it a few times before she wrapped it in a loose sloppy bun. No make-up either, not even a little eye-liner to make her look less tired. Any time Jason helped her make up was spent emptying her stomach of the horrid mix of alcohol left brewing in her system all night. After she brushed her teeth and gargled twice, Victory felt halfway normal and begrudgingly got dressed. She talked God for automated coffee makers as she grabbed her full travel mug and headed out the door.

It was almost 9 by the time she pulled out of the garage and Victory was in no mood to fight the downtown traffic. Maybe it was all the sex, but she was feeling a lot less tense, despite being a half hour late for work. It was fifteen minutes to air by the time she strolled into her office, breaking up the madness that had ensued in her absence,

"Have no fear, your fearless leader has arrived," Tammi announced from the studio desk, grinning at Victory's abnormally disheveled state.

"Everybody take a breath and please for the love of fuck stop yelling," Victory groaned as she fell into her chair. "And please close the blinds..."

"Rough night boss," Matty teased as he did her bidding and replaced her empty coffee mug with a full one and a bottle of water.

"Not as rough as you think," Tammi whispered to Victory. "I thought the girls were coming home last night?"

"They did," was Victory's quiet reply, but she was unable to keep the smirk off her face as she finally took of her sunglasses.

"So what's with the blood shot eyes?"

"Their father came with them," she said, still grinning and Tammi fixed her with an odd look. But it only lasted a moment and luckily Matty was counting them down before Tammi could question her further.

Despite the hangover, the show went smoothly enough, thanks in large part to Tammi for handling the more intense sports talk that dominated the first hour. After few callers commented on Victory's hoarseness and easy going demeanor and Tammi's playful baiting, she eventually let it slip that she had over-indulged the night before.

"Vic Strong doesn't seem so strong today does she ladies and gentleman," Tammi teased and Matty let off a few splat sound effects.

"You'll have to excuse me, I'm a bit bleary eyed today guys..."

"And why might that be. I mean it's weird that I'm the most prepared person on the show today...that like never happens."

"Lets just say I caught up with an old friend last night and things...got out of hand...but in a good way. Let's not forget I'm a 36-year-old mother of two, there's only so much fun I can have without the authorities getting involved."

Victory timed it perfectly, ending the statement right before the hard out. And as soon as she finished talking she put her head down on the desk. To the casual listener, it was just Vic Strong admitting to a hard night of partying but all of South Range heard something else.

Brian Hanover was at the gym, finishing his last rep on the squat rack when he heard it. He had to pause while he listened to that last part, a broad smile coming to his face. "Good job Vic, way to get your shit together," he said before he restarted his set.

Carmen and Danny Cardoza were sorting through their Tuesday morning delivery when Danny stopped and turned up the radio. He looked at his wife, who was wide eyed and grinning as they listened to Victory admit that her and Jason were making their way towards amends. "Looks like the old gangs getting back together," he said with a wink at his wife before he continued on his path to the store room.

Manny and Cheryl Fuerte were listening on their back porch as they did every day. Manny with his cigar and Cheryl with her sweet tea as they did their daily crossword puzzle. They didn't say a word, just a glance at each other before Manny put his arm around his wife and kissed her forehead.

By the end of the show, Vic and Tammi had left sports for the most part finishing up the last hour with call-ins about listener's "Best Worst Nights". Victory knew the night she shared with her husband did exactly qualify but she shared a few of her own from her college days and Tammi had a few tales of more recent jaunts. Despite how it started, the studio erupted when they went off air. One of her bosses even made an appearance to congratulate her on a show well done.

"That's why we hired you Victory," he told her as he followed her to her office. "Sports is supposed to be fun and you bring that. Keep up the good work sport."

Once he was gone they had a quick meeting to discuss the next days show, possible guests and the wrap up of their saddest sports fan contest. Victory promised to be on time the next morning which brought a good amount of ribbing from her informal staff. All in all it was a good day but Victory couldn't wait to get home and take a nice long nap before she went to watch the girls first softball practice at The Warren School. It was no cuts but Victory had little doubt that her girls would be starting pitcher and catcher.

She was halfway home when her car announced a phone call from Carmen and she grinned as she answered it.

"Hey prego!"

"So what's this I hear about you and an old friend. I know it's not me since I'm pregnant and I just saw Brian on his afternoon run," she said giddily and Victory found herself grinning again. "Don't hold back the details honey. I got some of my own to share."

"Well you go first..."

"Nope that's not how this works Vic and you know it. Now spill."

Victory didn't hesitate filling her best girlfriend in on all the details of the rekindling of her marriage and Carmen did the same, though her night was decidedly less exciting given her condition. She even told him about the dressing down Jason delivered Danny and Victory almost swooned.

"We got good guys don't we Vic?"

"Hate to say it but we do."

"So what's the plan? Is he finally going to come up there with you or what?"

"We honestly haven't gotten that far into it. We just decided that divorce was out of the question and that we need to figure out how to make this work..."

"Because clearly it's not a lack of passion," Carmen said with a snort, making Victory laugh too. "So does this mean I can stop giving him dirty looks every time I see him?"

"Yes please...and I wish you hadn't done it to start with. It wasn't all his fault."

"You would have got them too but I don't see you enough."

"I know I know. I'm gonna work on that too.

"I know you will...so tell me Vic. How sore are you?"

She was getting out of the car by them and out of habit, Victory left the phone on speaker as she entered the house. "Little hitch in my giddy up but I'll survive. I'm gonna need another pullout couch though," she admitted and Carmen erupted into laughter. "Umm...Car I'm gonna need to call you back."

"Still there ain't he?"

"Yup."

"Heard that last part didn't he?"

"Sure did," Victory said, not even trying to hide her blush.

"Maybe just some cuddling then huh Jay," Carmen shouted with a giggle and Victory rolled her eyes.

"Good bye Carmen."

"Later babes."

Victory knew just how to make a guy rises up and scream with joy as he embraced the new day. Well a blow job wasn't just an act it was a sign of love and he thought his wife was one of the few who actually enjoyed doing it. It wasn't a chore it wasn't just foreplay she honestly liked sucking his cock. Her lips and tongue were heavenly and if he could give pleasure to her at the same time some much the better.

Of course they had to go at it again though. In all the time they'd been together Victory only got him to cum a handful of times from anything but penetration. They had spend a lot of fun trying and done in more then a few naughty stops too. Being a local police office he had to tone that down. That didn't meant they stopped. Even when things were going down hill things didn't stop. Maybe they should have and talked some of those nights rather then fucked and went to sleep with things still left unresolved.

This time they shouldn't have gone back to sleep for a completely different set of reasons. It was time to get the girls to school! How many times did they wake up tangled up in the sheets and each other and realized they were parents with obligations. It was kind of a blur, but he got dressed and wore the same clothes as the day before which he was sure the girls would notice. The only bonus to him was his t-shirt smelled like Victory. It was chaos, but that meant it would be a good day. They just had to survive it.

He still could save the day and he had the protein enhanced breakfast cereal with some female gymnast on the box set out and he was just cutting up bananas to go in bowls when the hellions came into the kitchen with shit eating grins on their faces.

"Morning girls and whatever it is I don't want to hear it. We're going to have happy family morning or else."

Ramona was the first to giggle and sit down and say, "whatever do you mean daddy? "

Lee started to eat when she looked up and said, "does this mean you're back with mommy."

"Lee do you have to be like a baby. They probably just had makeup sex."

"Excuse, " was all Jason could say before Lee punched her sister in the arm.

"Thank you Lee don't every do that again," he then turned to her sister rubbing her arm and said, "you will not talk about sex with me again as long as I live are we clear?"

"But mom says we should be open and honest about this stuff."

"And you can with your mother tell her everything. Bring it up again I'll have Nana Cheryl give you her lecture on safe sex. I've heard it so trust me when I tell you you might lose interest."

With that they stuck their heads into their cereal bowls and he poured them some organic orange juice. Looking at the label he wonder wasn't it supposed to just be made from oranges. Well they'd have plenty of sugar and protein, but shortly they'd be the Warren school's problem.

Victory bolted out of the house about as fast as she could move in her freshly cleaned up dress down look. She didn't seem to appreciate the response when she told him the alarm code was the anniversary, and he said how was he supposed to know that. Still though it felt like a slight modification of the typical morning at the Smith household. Once he cleaned up the kitchen without using the high tech dish washer her put the school in to his phone's GPS. Well at least the place was close.

He secure the house next and after a brief discussion about who would sit in the front he cleared up the dispute and put both offended parties in the back seat. He started up and began navigating the streets and traffic as the GPS kept resetting.

About thirty seconds into the trip Ramona asked if the radio in the old heap was working to which he replied, " this truck was her before you two and it will be here for you two to fight over in a few years. No the radio isn't working smart ass, but I did make a modification for those who can't put up with the farm report on the Am radio."

Once they were stopped at a light he took a I-pod setup from inside the secure console leaving the .45 caliber handgun and placed it on the dash board. He then asked, "I suppose you want some music from some up and coming female artist?"

They nodded eagerly to which he replied, "to bad my ride you're stuck with my music, but I like girls who rock too."

https://youtu.be/7923oM_i0vo

The power of the all female AC/DC tribute band shook the windows of the truck and just made him want to drive faster. A quick glance of the back showed Lee up rocking out like she was playing the drums, and Ramona covering her ears. This got Lee to stick out her tongue he hoped wasn't pierced and thankfully it wasn't. Ramona replied back with pretending to play the guitar. At least for a a few blocks all was happy with his girls.

The Warren school drop of was something else. He'd never seen so many expensive cars in one spot. Model Milfs dropping off their kids along with fathers who seemed to interested in their blue tooth headsets to give a hug or wish their kids well. This place has to be better then this he thought. There were two lanes though so he drove around the mess and pulled into an empty spot. Well from the reaction of everyone nearby that just wasn't done. That an the fact that some unshaven redneck got out of a truck that their landscapes probably would use and his girls hopped out.

As people honked and yelled he let the girls out of the car and gave them each a hug. Ramona hung on a few seconds longer and said, "you have to check in with Mrs. Crone....I mean misses Mrs. Crown," and as she broke the hug she pointed out a gargoyle of a woman nearby that almost made Jason jump. She didn't look to please either.

"Excuse me sir you can't just park your vehicle where you feel like it. We go in line here, and who are you to these girls? Really I didn't think Ms. Strong would allow the help to drop of her children."

Enough was enough and the girls came to his sides. The nodded to each other figuring it was best to grab on to him rather then let him deck the old bat. "Look lady first you treat everyone with respect whether they look like they slept under a bridge, which I've done, or whether they run the city. I'm dropping off my daughters, and the name is Smith not Strong. You'd know that if you actually talked to my wife! Now I'm sorry I didn't wait but I saw an opening and I took it. It's like NASCAR. Now my wife speaks very highly of this place please don't change my mind."

Taken aback Mrs. Crown cleared her throat and nodded marking off the girls on he clipboard. She did muster up enough courage to say, "I'm sorry about the miss understanding. It's just very chaotic and we do our best."

"I see well I'll remember that. Also my day job is as a sheriff's deputy so please if you're going to actually have armed guards don't have them unloading bags. Have them do their job and watch out for the children."

"Ah yes you're right of course I will send out a memo."

"How about now. " He hugged the girls and said, "have fun learn a lot okay. Talk to you soon."

The girls said in unison after the loud angry display, " love you daddy."

Jason smiled as Mrs. Crown walked off mutter about there was something about that family. Apparently she knew not to annoy Victory. With that he pulled back and head back to the house. The first order of business was letting Cody out and playing with the dog. He shock his head as he picked up athletic equipment and put in two organized piles in the forayed. If these girls went to college together their room would be a disaster. Wow that was only a few years down the road. He remember walking around with Victory in the house carrying the little bundles of joy like it was yesterday.

Once the yard was clean he saw that Cody got a hot dish of the previous night's meat loaf while he ate his breakfast. The kitchen was actually very nice not like the country kitchen Victory had back home, but modern and sleek. She'd wanted to make changes, but there was no reason in his mind. It was a nice kitchen, but he might have compromised rather then say they'd redo it if they had a kitchen fire. Small changes might have been preferred.

He took apart the bed that smelled like sex, smoke, and beer and found the laundry room. He emptied the drier and folded things as he put the bedding in the wash and set it on sanitary. He cleaned up a little more before heading up to the master bedroom. Though Victory made it clear this was his place too he still felt like a guest, so he poked around quietly.

The bathroom had it's own linen closet and inside it had large drawers. It seemed she was very well stocked. At first he was annoyed when he found one filled with men's supplies, but he soon realized it was all new stuff including the cheap blue wash clothes he bought at the big box store. He smiled and broke out the soap and a bottle of shampoo. He shaved first then cleaned himself up. Cody had came through the open door and seemed rather amused to see his master in the shower.

The other thing he noticed was a garment bag hanging up with Jason written on the side. Once he opened it up he found packages of boxer briefs, tube socks, and a extra long white t-shirt and blue jeans. Well no point in being clean and putting on the same dirty clothes he thought. He silently thanked his wife. He went down and took care of the laundry and then stretched out in the living room. He soon fell asleep with Cody at his feet. He was in no hurry to get back and he hoped, no he wanted to talk to Victory about things. Up until now it felt like life during wartime. Well they weren't fighting, but there was no peace treaty either.

When he did wake up he felt refresh and looked at the time. He knew Victory was planning on stopping home, and while he wasn't sure if he'd stick around for after school activities. The girls mentioned tension would be cut short because of practice. They'd miss warm up's and have to rush to change, but it wouldn't be to bad. So that meant he and Victory could talk and decide a few things. Well at least start. Had no solutions, but he would get the conversation started with some food.

Some staples he knew Victory would have on hand so he began making tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. He found a loaf of rye bread and the cans of soup with no problem. He had no idea what they were feeding the girls at school, but Victory didn't have any American cheese. He did find a block of cheddar and began cutting away after given a piece to Cody who wanted to show him it wasn't poisoned. He had the sandwiches grilling and the soup on simmer when he heard Victory pull up.

Perfect he thought then he heard her come in chatting about on her cell phone. Most of the time she wasn't rude like that. People that were with you matted but he realized she forgot all about him and he got to hear her gossiping with Carmen. Victory realized it and rather then hang up and deny anything she just finished off the conversation with Carmen wishing him well and her goodbyes.

He just smiled and controlled his laughter and said, "it is so good to hear a woman brag about having sex with her husband of twenty years. Ah do want anything an ice or a cushion maybe."

Victory just smirked put down her phone and looked across the counter at him and said, "yeah yeah live it up big daddy. Forget all the nice things I said about you."

"I made you your favorite snack though."

"Love you baby. I'll get us some plates."

The sat down at the kitchen table and relaxed together and ate their soup and sandwiches along with a few bottles of water. They made small talk like how Victory still made it on time, and the pluses to working in radio was you didn't have to dress up. He said the drop off went fine and he'd like to talk to the teachers and find out more. Cody got under the table and waited for any crumbs to drop.

After a long glass of water he made his move to end the pleasant banter and said, "look what are we going to do here? I know the girls are benefiting from the school. I mean they have stuff here they just don't have back home. Also respect that you have a career and part of radio is you move and stuff for work, but you know if they'd offered me a cop job I wouldn't have just left and rented an apartment. I mean I didn't know we could afford to places."

He sighed and looked at her. "We had a good night last night, and it wasn't just the sex. I want it to be the start of something, but I'll be honest I don't know what that really is. I'm trying here. I stayed to see the girls for a little more and talk to you. Beyond this afternoon I don't know."

Victory heard the uncertainty in Jason's voice and frowned a little as she slipped her hand into his. A small smile came to her lips as she digested his concerns, relieved that they were a mirror of her own. "I know it wasn't just sex Jay...I don't think we can do that," she said and ran her hand along the back of his neck, squeezing a little before she got up to get rid of the plates. She gave them a quick rinse and loaded them into the dishwasher, noticing that all the breakfast dishes in the draining board. "And I don't have any illusions about what's going to happen next either. The truth is neither of us handled this the way we should have and we're both hurt about how quickly everything unraveled. I know we love each other Jay and I also know that sometimes that's not enough to keep a family together. It's going to take a lot of hard work and we're both going to have to make some sacrifices if we want to get back to the way we used to be. You're not willing to leave your job and I'm not willing to leave mine...and that's okay so long as we make an effort to meet each other in the middle."

With that Victory grabbed Jason's hand to pull him from his seat and led him down the short hallway to her mess of an office. Cody followed behind them and stretched out in the doorway while Victory directed Jason to the chair and she took the exercise ball. A mural of the girls greeted them as Victory woke up her PC and she shifted the screen so Jason could see what she was working on. With a few keystrokes she pulled up the school's website and logged in so she could show him how he could check up on the girls from the farm. "Everything's here for you to see. Progress reports. School events. Athletic Schedule. All of it. I should have told you about this before but I was being a bitch so sue me," she added with a smirk as she added his information so he would have his own access point. "Parent teacher conferences are in a few weeks. If you can't get here we can arrange it so we can do it by video..."

"They don't have any of this in South Range," Jason muttered and Victory laughed a little as she pulled up the softball schedule and imported the dates to her calendar.

"Looks like most of their games are on Saturdays so that might cut into weekends at the farm," she said with a slight frown. Victory already had a feeling that would be but that didn't mean she wouldn't figure a way to work around it. "So maybe you come here as often as you can until the season's over and instead of me taking a full blown vacation for spring break and in the summer, I spread it out. Maybe work it so I only have to be on air four days in the summer. Hell the way my boss was congratulating me today I might even be able to score a satellite setup so I can do the show from South Range..."

It was just a thought but the idea had never occurred to her until now. Only a year into her four year contract, Victory thought it might be a little soon to be asking for such concessions. But come summertime, when most of her colleagues were taking weeks at a time, her bosses might look kindly on the newbie who wanted to work. Even from a distance.

"I want us to work Jay," she said after a while, moving to sit in his lap and put her arms around his torso, her head on his shoulder. "And I'm willing to put the miles in if you are. I didn't take this job to run away from home you know. The station pays for this house, it's in my contract. Just like most of the girls' tuition. I never wanted us to get rid of the farm Jay, that's ours. I mean we built that house together...our families are there. Everything we know and love is there. That's the place I want grandkids to come visit...where I see us growing old and senile together. But it's not the end all be all. I just wanted the girls to experience a different type of life, so they know that there's a whole big world outside of South Range. If they decide that's where they want to be then fine but I want them to know that they have choices Jay," she said, sitting up to look him in the eye before she planted a soft kiss on his lips, her hands running across his freshly shaven jaw.

"I love you Blue Jay...never stopped and even if I didn't act like it all these decisions I made were with us in mind. I wish we could have talked about all this before," she said with a snort as she slid out of his lap, grasping his hand again. "Could have saved ourselves a year of hurt but according to my mom we're both too hard headed for our own good, which she also says makes us perfect for each other. Go figure that," she said with a grin. "So am I to assume you're staying for practice?"

"You assume correctly, my dear," Jason said with that shit eating grin as he got his feet and slipped his arms around Victory's waist. He planted a kiss on the back of her neck and breathed in her scent as the moved out of her office, being careful to step over Cody who was now napping in the doorway.

"Don't get any ideas Deputy Smith, mama needs a nap...maybe a back rub, but I'm done getting tossed around for the next 24 hours. I ain't no spring chicken," she said and Jason gave her ass a quick swat before he scooped her up. Jason threw her over his shoulder and hightailed it up the stairs. After dropping her onto the bed, Jason pulled off her stretch pants before he dropped his jeans and climbed into bed with her. "God I missed this," she said after a long sigh as he spooned up behind her, his strong arms holding her tight to his body. "I don't want to fight anymore Jay and I know you gotta go back but do you think we can make this a regular thing...I mean you coming here. I didn't realize how much I missed your snoring until last night."

Well it wasn't like Victory didn't have a plan, and it wasn't like he wasn't in it. He played nice listened and was affectionate, and he returned the feelings because they felt good. The thing that kept bothering him was working at it meant doing it her way. No I'll come back home and broadcast from there, and no the girls aren't coming back. He didn't begrudge her that though. The girls were happy here, and they could do better then South Range. They'd been happy, but now they new opportunities.

As they climbed into bed he helped Victory strip down to just her panties and they snuggled up after he rubbed her shoulders to her delight. He kept it relaxed and caressed her skin and soon she was sleeping on his chest. She'd mentioned in passing that the cell phone alarm would go off to let them know when to leave. Cody found his regular spot and laid down happily. He did want to go to practice, he did want to be cuddling with her, and he did want to make it work. Just one problem.

He didn't think it would. All this reminded him of what life would be different. He wouldn't look at the schedule and run down to the ball field, he'd call and hear about it after words. Weekends those filled up for girls with friends, and while he knew the girls would grow up this made things just a little more difficult. They wouldn't come home from school every day, they wouldn't be laughing just down the hallway.

He'd had a good life in South Range with a lot of fun and good times. Yeah he'd had it good and he was sure some back home packed their bags when they turned eighteen and didn't look back for a reason. He could have gone other places, but he wanted to have a family there and be close. She wanted that, but well it was home to visit. He struggled with the thought of losing her no matter what she said. It wouldn't be out of spite, but did it really matter.

While she dreamed he found himself doing something he seldom if ever did. He teared up a little. Why did this have to be so damn hard. He wouldn't say anything to Victory though. She wanted this life and it would be good. He'd make it that way even if it didn't seem like that. So a few tears dripped as he stared out into space. When the alarm on the phone came to life and it began bouncing on the night stand he whiled his eyes and laid back. He kept telling himself you're going to have fun now that's all that matters.

After the initial start from the alarm, Victory slid her finger blindly across the screen and lay back to put her head on her husband's chest. She'd almost forgotten how good it felt to just lay with him. How their bodies fit almost perfectly together. His arms just long enough to wrap around her waist, his hand rested against her hip, holding her close. Her head always in the perfect place to nuzzle against his neck. Even when they spooned there was never any awkward shifting before they found a comfortable place. It always just happened.

But as much as she loved the sound of his heart beating against her ear, the way their breathes seemed to synchronize when they lay in silence, Victory knew they had to get up. And she couldn't be seen at the school looking how she did at the station. Not that she cared but she wouldn't have the ultra glam stay at home moms looking down on her because she looked a mess. Begrudgingly she pushed herself up and out of bed, not before planting a smiling kiss on Jason's chin. She paused a moment, her eyes locked with his, as she ran her hand along his face. There was something there, his lashes wet around slightly reddened whites. He had been crying and she knew they weren't happy tears because he hid them away from her, but she didn't say anything. Just got up and trudged into the bathroom, pulling off her t-shirt as she went.

Jason had always liked to watch her get ready. Even when he was complaining about how late she was making them with her repeated wardrobe changes, he never left the room. His eyes trailed her now as she moved from closet to drawers, looking for a more suitable outfit. Something that said "I woke up like this" instead of "This took me 3 hours". She pulled on a pair of skinny jeans, with a little hop to get them over her child-bearing hips. It was move that always brought at least a smirk from her husband and it didn't fail her now.

"I got a can of blue spray paint in the truck," he said with a snort as she did the "up on the tip toes" dance to do up the fly and she rolled her eyes. "Bout the same shade too...nobody would look twice."

"Shut up Jay. My ass looks great in these jeans and you know it."

"Not disputing that Vic...Just saying the paint might be more comfortable that's all."

But still he watched her, even as he teased, as Victory did her make up in just her bra and jeans. It only took her a few minutes, a little lip gloss. A quick drag of black liner and mascara to make her light brown eyes pop. A light coating of bronzer to make her skin glow a little more. It would have taken her less time had she not been watching Jay's reflection in the mirror over her shoulder as he too got dressed.

"I see you found the bag," she said with a grin and he shrugged as he pulled on his own jeans and stepped into his battered work boots. Victory found herself biting her lip as she looked at him, wondering how she ever believed she could find someone who struck the same feelings in her as Jason did now. His jeans bagged a little over the top of his boots. The plain white undershirt hugged his arms and torso hinting at the treasure beneath. His jeans just fitted enough to accentuate his package and muscled ass. Despite her own designer wardrobe, Victory appreciated a man who liked the simpler things and Jason was definitely that. A man who looked like he worked for a living, who sweat and toiled in the open air. Not behind some desk. She was sure he felt her looking from the way the corners of his lips rose ever so slightly.

But still she felt tension as they headed downstairs, even if they followed the usual routine of him securing the premises while she waited in the car. All the time apart did nothing to shake the routine of twenty years together and it brought a smile to his lips, even as he grumbled while climbing into the passenger seat of her hybrid SUV. Her selection of the 90s rock station was for him and he knew that too, but still she sung along to the sounds of their youth. Boobing her head and drumming on the steering wheel as she sang...
"I don't know why we always cry
This we must leave and get undone
We must engage and rearrange
And turn this planet back to one
So tell me why we got to die
And kill each other one by one
We've got to love and rub-a-dub
We've got to dance and be in love
But what I really want to know is
Are you gonna go my way?
And I got to got to know"
...It wasn't exactly their situation but still it seemed fitting enough and eventually Jason relaxed enough to join her in song, whipping out his air guitar just in time to close out the last riff. They laughed through the next few track before Victory lowed the radio as the came within a mile or so of the school.

"I know this isn't ideal Jay but we can do this," she said as she reach to grab his hand, kissing his palm before she laced their fingers together. "I don't want to be without you either but I can't just give up this opportunity. This is good for us...good for the girls. Hell if I work it right we could both retire before we're fifty...well I can cause I know they gonna have to pry that badge away from you before you give it up," she said with a snort before she kissed his hand again and looked him in the eye. "And I love that about you. That devotion to South Range is part of the reason I fell in love with you in the first place. I grew up hating that place and most everybody in it but with you I realized it wasn't so bad. How could it be if it produced a man like you, who provided me with love and support, a home to raise the children he helped me bring into this world? It ain't a bad place but that doesn't mean it's the only place, and neither is Atlanta but I had to at least try something else. Trying someone else has not ever been on my agenda Jason and I need you to understand that. This is only going to be as hard as we make it. I've seen videos of servicemen overseas reading their babies bedtime stories and if they can do it we can do it too. We can do this Jay. It's only a few hours drive and I'm more than willing to put a laptop at the dinner table so you can hear all about the pre-teen drama when we schedules don't allow us to do it face to face..."

She trailed off then, tears in her eyes and a smile on her face as she remembered all those late night phone calls before she graduated from Tech. The many times they'd fallen asleep simply listening to each other breath. Sure things were exponentially more complicated not but still the feelings were the same. "I'd be willing to do other things with that laptop after the girls are tucked away upstairs as well Deputy Smith," she said with a wink as she pulled into the parking lot behind the well manicured ball field across the street from the school. Practice was well underway but Victory didn't want to get out of the car with this tension still hanging in the air. "I'm not saying there won't be bumps Jay, but we have to try...we deserve to at least give this a shot. Don't we?"

Jay had always thought it was a stereotype that women would take forever to change their clothes and never make up their minds. Well it turned out his father and everyone was right. He remembered the first time he realized that when he and Victory were going to a new fried chicken place and she said she was just doing a t-shirt and jeans. She did wear that but it was a least five changes of t-shirts and jeans not counting all the pairs of boots before she decided on some high heel sandals.

The best time was the multiple changes she had to make when they were going to the farmer's market and she wasn't sure about which sundress would look best while pushing the double stroller. So a long time ago he took himself back to the good old days, maybe his teen years, when he knew he'd be thrilled with having a woman dressing and undressing in front of him. He loved the idea of his wife walking around topless or with a towel holding her hair as she held up dresses in the mirror. He even teased her sometimes, and she always liked his responses when she ask would he rather her just go naked.

Those were the moments that made him smile and when he listened to her in the car he knew he'd just have to savor them that much more. It was a rare opportunity for the girls and the wife he loved dearly. Wishing it would fail and not trying wouldn't help matters either though. Last night showed that they could make up for lost time, and it could be wonderful. So it was time to be a man and dry the tears.

He squeezed her hand and got her to lean over and cry on his shoulder and whispered softly to her, "I stayed because I wanted to have stability. My hopes and dreams didn't stop when I didn't go to big sports college baby. I wanted us to always have a home. I knew that the first time we became parents."

She knew he was referring to Judy and her sisters. There place was small so when the girls were there they would go up on the roof of the building and talk. A few times they shared dip and Budweisers in an ice filled bucket. Not the best idea when they had to climb a ladder back down on those hot nights, but good memories just the same. When Victory brought up the possibility of the girl's father not stepping up he made it clear that they would adopt them. Not likely for a host of reasons most importantly a father's love but he meant it.

He'd worked hard to keep their part of the world safe, and put food on the table. He didn't think he was spoiling the girls, but he wanted them to have everything they needed. That was part of how he felt and he told Victory that when he said, " I think it's kinda selfish but well I didn't think you needed me any more. I mean you have a place, a career, and the girls are big."

That provoked an overwhelming reaction from Victory who first jerked her head up and she caressed her husband's face. "Baby how can you say that! Home is where the people are and we've got two places to be. Those girls will never stop needing you, and when they're grown they'll still come to us. Hopefully not for money, " she teased but smiled and said, "but to tell us all the wonderful things about the world. I want us to be together when that happens."

"Well for the kids then. Not because I'm interested in dealing with dealing with the dating world again."

"It's scary out there besides where will you find another me. You were some redneck before you met me. I've put to much time into you."

"Funny I was thinking the same thing about you."

"What!? You have some nerve."

"Well you were with all those losers before me."

She glared at him but he continued, "we were just some girl who loved sports who probably would have ended up working a Hooters winning her brackets all the time."

This provoked a punch in the arm and then a kiss. "My we have a high opinion of what 's like being married to you."

"Yeah that's because I have a hot wife."

That got a smile and hug and the question, "so where do we start."

"Well we have jobs so we workout a schedule for date nights, weekends at the farm, and alone time. We just can't count on things falling into place. This time if they want to promote you, change hours, or whatever you talk to me when you tell them your thinking about it. Also could I get some autographed pictures for Chet at the station he has a thing for Tammi."

Victory rolled her eyes and laid back in her seat. "Yeah I know honey she's just a hot blond with big ah eyes, and likes sports I have no idea why he's attracted. Anyway Victory Strong is your stage name, but don't make me invisible. For my part I think it's time for a new vehicle, so I can make the trip to the city. Also I will look into other job opportunities out here, but I want to keep the farm. Speaking of which maybe we should think about making the Farmer's well partners in things."

"Honey we never made a lot with the farm. We find plenty for them to do but we could do more if we had full time people," she said as she realized what he was saying.

"Exactly. Debbie will probably want to keep her job. She likes it and there is over time. There aren't many secretaries who can weld, drive a plow truck, and whatever else she can do. We could expand a little and give them a feature. Maybe even for our future son-in-law."

Victory just smiled and said, "why do girls fall in love with redneck boys who think great investments are things like shotguns and dirt bikes, " and with out even looking at him she said, "don't say a word love of my life! I will have a chat with Lee again. They're not living with us!"

"Well glad we could decide on at least one thing. Why don't we go watch them play some softball. I'm sure you've met some of the parents. They have a lot of growing to do yet, and well if they see us working at it that means they'll have hi standards. They'll meet boys that well want to work at being happy."

Jason finally felt a little more content with the situation as they got out of the truck and walked to the bleachers. Without much thought they ended up holding hands halfway through the parking lot. Like the changing clothes thing it might just be a matter of perspective. It wasn't living apart as much as getting to see the people you really mattered. Having them there everyday was great, but seeing them when you could would work too.

"So does that mean you're gonna start calling into my show again like you used to when I was in South Range," Victory asked with a giggle as she looped Jason's arm around her shoulders without letting go his fingers. It felt good to be tucked under his arm again and she looked up at him with a grin.

"Guess that means I gotta listen again," he said with a smirk and she gave his ass a playful swat.

"You better," she told him and he planted a kiss on the top of her head as they came up to the bleachers. "Alright, here's the deal," she quietly as she slowed them down a bit. "If I don't introduce you, they ain't worth knowing. Trust me." Jason snorted at that, but agreed with a nod as they made their way over to who she thought might be a good candidate for Jason's first Atlanta friend.

Frank Farley was the girls civics teacher/basketball coach and his wife Erin coached the softball team. They were another interracial couple but that's not why Vic liked them, it had more to do with the Farleys being a mirror of her and Jason. In the case of the Farleys it was Frank who's job opportunity that brought the young family to Atlanta from a small town in Alabama. It was Erin who didn't want to come and stayed behind for a few years before she finally joined Frank and their girls, Ferris and Emory. Both their girls were on the team as well but they were a mere 11 months apart with Ferris in seventh grade with the girls and Emory in eighth. They were good kids and there had already been a few sleepovers at both households. Erin and Frank were just a few of the people who knew what had been going on with Jay and Vic over the last year and were quick to offer Vic their own insight into how to see it resolved. She was excited to finally introduce Jason to the couple that gave her hope that resolution was not only possible but could make their marriage stronger.

Frank stood at the fence on the first base line, giving his youngest a pep talk as Victory brought Jay over to say hello. "Watch the ball Ferris but keep the runner in your periphery. You know it's gonna come so keep your glove up and your eye on the ball. You got this Fey..."

"I know Daddy geez...shut up already," the lanky 12-year-old said without turning her head and he threw up his hands.

"See Jay we're not the only ones getting the cold shoulder," Victory said with a smirk and Frank rolled his eyes.

"Ehhh she loves it...just showing off for her buddies is all," he said and Victory noted a little smile on the girls face as he said it. "That Ramona's got an arm on her huh? Erin's already talking about getting back in the cage so she doesn't get shown up," he added with a chuckle as he finally turned away from the field. "Well look who finally joined the party..."

"For today anyway," Victory said with a grin as she slipped her arm around her husband's waist. "Frank, my husband Jason. Jason, Frank. He coaches girls basketball and his wife coaches softball," she indicated with a nod at the shapely woman hitting pop fly balls behind home plate. The two men shook hands and Frank filled them in on what the two missed so far on the second day of practice.

"Those girls of yours are a godsend I'll tell you. Our starting pitcher and catcher both graduated last year, the ones left over are pretty green and a little scared under the pressure..."

"Smith girls don't know pressure," Jason said and Victory seconded his motion with a resounding "Damn right!" There was also a fist bump which brought a chuckle from Frank as Victory settled with her head on Jason's chest. "So is first base you're only one," Jason asked and Frank shook his head.

"Nope Emory's at short stop," he said, pointing at the miniature of his wife hurling the ball back at Lee to cut off a runner. All three parents cheered when Lee threw it back to second to close out a double play. "Prep league championship here we come," Frank shouted while Jason hooted and hollered.

The sound of his voice carried onto the field and the twins glanced over to see their parents laughing it up with Mr. Farley. Surprising it was Ramona who kept her composure as Lee rose up from her squat and lifted her mask to get a better look.

"Hey! Back in the box receiver we got business!" Ramona shouted at her sister with a huge grin plastered across her face as she punched her mitt. Lee gave her a quick nod before she resumed her post and the next batter came into the box. She made a show of waving the fielders in before she gave her sister the signal.

"I hear they got their own signals and everything," Frank asked and Victory chuckled a little.

"Since they were two playing the wiffle ball with Vic in the yard," Jason explained with a proud grin. "Even then Mo packed heat."

"Well they're definitely talented," Frank said with his eyes on the field. "Fey took to ball much faster than Em. She's more of a soccer girl but Erin won't have them not carrying on the family legacy. Her brother was in the majors a few years in the late 90s. Uncle too."

After a while they just watched their girls cheering them on when it was appropriate until they broke up into position drills. Frank stayed near the fence and Vic lead Jason over to the bleachers to better see their own girls on the in field. As promised Victory introduced Jason to the few parents she wanted him to meet. Dr. Amber, Victory's new gyno and her husband Brandon Howley, a finance guy whose daughter Gabi was in sixth grade. Adam Vance, the widower, whose daughter, Bernie, was the first friend Ramona and Lee made at school. Unfortunately his first interaction with Jason didn't go as well as Victory had hoped. He seemed a little shocked to see Victory snuggled up between Jason's outstretched legs and even hesitated when Jason offered his hand.

"Oh your Victory's husband," he said with a raised eyebrow, finally taking Jason's hand for a weak shake.

"Nah I'm her oldest boy...you didn't tell him about me Mama," he teased with a grin and Victory slapped his thigh.

"Don't mind him," she offered to Adam before he quickly moved away. "He's nice Jay don't be like that..."

"I'm sure he was real nice when he thought he had a chance," was Jason's quick response and Victory couldn't fault his logic. Bernie played soccer with the girls in the fall and her and Adam had developed a tentative friendship that even her own girls were weary of.

"He's always looking at you when you're not looking," Lee had said more than once and Victory had always shrugged it off. She was more concerned about the impression she gave than the attention she received. So long as her girls weren't coming to her with complaints about her own behavior, Victory figured she was doing alright.

Being in the bleachers though, it was much harder to avoid the gaggle of parents she wasn't so found of, the worst being Victoria Townsend. PTA President, team mom, and all around douche bag with her pearls and travel coffee mug full of white wine. Aside from all that, she insisted on calling Victory, Vicky, which drove her nearly drove her to violence. And that didn't stop just because her husband sat with her.

"Well you must be the elusive Mr. Strong I've heard almost nothing about," Victoria announced as she came up the bleachers and Victory rolled her eyes.

"Smith...my last name is Smith. Vic Strong is only for the radio," Victory said without looking at the woman, even as she held out her hand for Jason to shake. Jason had always been better at feigning interest than his wife and picking her slack in that department so he quickly introduced himself.

"Deputy Jason Smith," he said with a grin, his hand brushing along Victory's shoulder, a vain attempt to ease the hostility her felt wafting off his wife.

"A deputy huh? Well Victory you must bring him to meet and greet..."

"Aww we're busy that night right Vic," Jason offered, bringing a smile from his wife.

"I didn't even tell you the day...it's..."

"My husband just said we're busy," Victory said, finally shifting her eyes from the field to size up the overdressed socialite. A tight smile on her face and Victoria spun on her heels.

"With an attitude like that, it's no wonder they're on the brink of divorce," she muttered and Victory made to stand up but Jason kept her seated with a firm hand on her shoulder.

"Shows what she knows...that attitude is what got me," he whispered in her ear and planted a kiss on the back of her neck.

"God I hate that woman."

"See you should have let me drive. I could have pulled her over on the way out. She's got chardonnay coming out of her pores," he said and Victory doubled over with laughter.

"I missed this Jay," she said, reaching up to run her fingers along the back of his neck and he kissed her cheek.

"Yeah me too Vic...me too."

Growing up in a small town Jason was used to playing baseball until the sun went down, but here in the city the lights around the field and jogging path kicked on promptly. It was hard to believe that this was a children's school, but for some of Atlanta's best and brightest. Victory said the girls had no problem with the placement tests even remarked they were a bit boring. Well that would make their teacher's back home happy even if a little sad the pair weren't causing problems in their school.

South Range was actually pretty big as a far as towns in the area went. It had a community college, a hospital, and a small downtown with shops and apartments. One could spend years getting to know the town and loving it, but here the girls could spend a life time learning and meeting people. They might just like urban life a little more. Him he liked cow pastures and trees in his skyline, but as he was learning it wasn't for everybody.

He wasn't famous here by any means he was some ex-jock who became a cop. He was sure there were hundreds like him around there. Still though Vic made it clear despite the new address she wasn't interested in trading up or even changing up. Considering how many professional athletes she met that said something. He was sure there was some attraction, but that was normal.

While his timing may have been off he grabbed Victory as all the girls were running up to the fence and bent her back and looked into her eyes and caressed her face. Then kissed her passionately hard and fast arching her back. Then as he ignored any on lookers whispered," will you miss me baby?"

Victory smiled and whimpered and frantically nodded and asked, "when can I see you again to talk about he kids...ah right."

He helped her upright again and steady herself, and while he didn't pay attention to everyone looking her knew Victory was blushing. The moment was interrupted when Ramona said, "can you two get a room or something. Practice is over and we want to get home."

"You could just give us the keys, " Lee inquired. The girls knew some of the farm equipment, and both enjoyed off roading so driving always seemed like something they were denied.

While most everyone else was trying to carry on without noticing or at the very least keeping their comments to themselves Victoria's daughter Brigid Townsend had to weigh in with her opinion. "You know public displays of affection for a couple are often just about a man showing his dominance in a relationship. Marking his territory really."

Ramona and Lee immediately surrounded her. She turned from Ramona to look into Lee's glaring eyes who was first to speak, "or they're normal and they love each other and don't care who knows it."

Brigid tried to step away but Ramona dropped her stuff and just stepped in front of her and said, "your mom drinks like a fish and your dad dresses like a girl and we don't care so don't talk about our parents. Your the weirdo."

Jason and Victory didn't know whether to clap or just laugh, but they had a collective moment when they realized they did have to behave like adults. They grabbed their girls who were probably debating whether to use fists or softball bats and collected their things and everyone went back into the car. Jason rode shotgun, but they didn't get far before Victory asked with a smile on her face, "you think we're normal."

The girls giggled and nodded and Ramona spoke up. "we're happy your not fighting anyway."

"Are you still thinking about getting divorced? I mean some divorced people are still ah friendly and stuff."

Jason turned around and looked at the girls and replied, "were trying to figure that out but we don't want to break up. We're going to stay a family, but you're going to give Atlanta a try for awhile. I'll be coming by to visit, and you're coming home on the weekends. If you have school stuff I'll be here. Your going to see all your grandparents who love you a lot too. We might even make the farm bigger."

Lee carefully asked, "so I can see the dogs and Hunter too."

Jason just smiled and nodded. "Yeah you can see everyone who is important to you."

"Awe you get to take the dogs for walks and hold your boyfriends hand how cute," Ramona said mocking her sister.

He thought steam would come out of her ears but instead she blurted out, "oh daddy needs to meet Joey. He's a hipster and doesn't like country music and he..."

Lee was cutoff by her sister hitting her and then promptly getting hit back. Jason was about to make them stop, but it was more of the play fighting they enjoyed since they were a little. They were sisters and sure one might complain about the other breathing her air, one would help the other move a body without questions. He turned and smiled at Victory and held her hand. Life wasn't perfect, but then that was family.

"Alright, alright...save the hooliganism for the field," Victory shouted without taking her eyes off the road, or her hand from Jason's. She knew the scuffle wasn't serious but still she turned on the girls' favorite radio station to distract them from the fisticuffs and as usual it worked. Better than she thought it would since the song that played was something she could appreciate as well.

"Turn it up...turn it up," Lee shouted from the back seat as Ramona dove for the radio to do her sister's bidding. "Mommy it's your song!"

Jason could only grumble as all three of his girls belted out the lyrics, but he noticed that Victory had a better handle on them than the girls, who took the role of back up singers complete with a dance routine. He pretended to be embarrassed, holding his hand over his face while they were at a red light with all three of them singing louder than the music. They drew a few looks but they didn't care. Victory had raised her girls to be just as silly as she was. It was nothing for them to break out in song in the middle of the grocery store, granted Lee was less likely to participate in public. Victory took her joining in now as a sign of her excitement that things between her parents were working their way back to normal.

Well as normal as could be expected living in separate house but Victory had a good feeling about the way things were going. And she was not an optimistic person. But still she kicked herself for not making a better effort before they fell apart. Part of her always hoped that Jason would chase her, like he'd always done but things were different now. They were adults with their own ideas of what life should be, unfortunately those ideas didn't exactly match up as well as they used to. But still they loved each other and for that reason alone they had to try.

By the time Victory was pulling into the garage it was almost seven. It occurred to her that Jason would probably be leaving but she didn't allow herself to be sad about it. It wouldn't be forever, but still she squeezed his hand as soon as he came around to the drivers side of the car. The girls made silly "awwww" sounds as they unloaded their gear but their parents ignored them, leaving them alone in the garage.

"They're getting to be a couple of jerks aren't they," Jason said with a grin as he followed Victory into the kitchen and she shrugged as she washed her hands.

"I'm surprised it took this long given who their parents are," she said with a snort as she dug out plastic containers from the cabinets and the leftovers from the fridge. The girls were coming in by then and Victory sent them upstairs to shower before dinner. They both hesitated until Jason told them he wouldn't leave without saying good bye. "No stalling ladies Dad's got a long ride," Victory shouted after them as they tore up the stairs. Victory made Jason a plate and popped in the microwave before she loaded up a couple plastic containers for him to take with him.

"Ain't you sweet," he said with a grin as she pushed the reheated plate in front of him. Victory planted a kiss on his cheek as she sat down on the stool beside him. She fished his phone out of his pocket and nodded for him to unlock it before took out her own.

"Figured I'd try something new," she said and he chuckled as he dug into is plate. As he ate Victory went syncing their calendars. She wasn't surprised to find that his contained nothing. Jason was old school. If he thought he wouldn't remember it he wrote it down but she figured he might appreciate this new technology to help keep them connected. "So I put everything together so we both see the same thing. I know you said you'd try and move things around so don't forget to change it here too. The girl's first game is Saturday and the next is the following Wednesday so we'll be back that weekend..."

"Two whole weeks," both girls said as they came downstairs, hair still wet and already in their pajamas.

"It might not be...but even if it is Mom and I are figuring ways to make it easier. Besides you guys can call me whenever you want and there's this thing called skype...don't know if you heard of it," Jason teased and both girls narrowed their eyes at him but it was Lee who spoke up.

"No the question is have you ever heard of it?"

"You know Victory there is a new trend. Let your kids pay for their own college and living expenses. Helps them build character, and allows you to plan better for retirement."

Victory smiled and nodded and backing up her husband said, "I've heard that. I mean we could go to the islands and they could work at Waffle House until they have enough for the first year. Oh they'll look so cute in those uniforms when they send us selfies while we're on vacation."

Ramona piped in first and cried out, "mom you make fun of dad all the time!"

"Yes but were in it together it's us verses you guys though."

Lee just said softer and more seriously, "long as you guys go together I don't mind if it helps."

Jason and Victory looked at each other and nodded and just came together with the girls in between them and just hugged. Jason spoke up and said, "look guys your mother and I love each other. We'll make this work. Farm and city life. Didn't start off right, but we'll figure out how to make it work. Now I have to head home to the farm. I'm needed there, but I'll take all your love with me. "

The emotion was strong and Victory kept it together as best she could. Try as she might she missed the place, and she missed the man in her life. Jason more than anyone seemed to savor the simple joy of walking outside and enjoying the peace and quiet of the country while Victory she could use that sometimes. The difference was she didn't need it as much. That said part of her wanted to say to the girls pack up we're going home, but she had too much here. Miserable and without her love was one thing, but happy with everything but the man in her life didn’t make it easy.

She cleared her throat and just said, "I'm sure we can do better than two weeks for being together. The farm we'll see, but it will never be far."

After a lot of hugs and kisses, talk about the meal, and getting the car ready it was finally time to go. Victory did send the girls to get Cody ready for bed, so she could talk to Jason once more privately. It began with a long kiss and a hug. She softly spoke the words that meant so much when she said, "thanks for coming honey. I'm glad you wanted to do more than just visit."

"I'm glad too. Next time I won't sleep in the guest room, but it was a lot of fun playing there."

With a devilish grin she replied, "But honey it's a whole new house for us to try out and have fun in. So we'll work our way up from the bottom. Oh and we will be sending the girls to the grandparents for some of the fun."

He caressed her hair and looked in her eyes "well when you do come you know without them about we can leave the sex swing up for all kinds of fun."

"Get on the road before I beg you to stay. Call me when you get close and give the Farmer's my love. And well everyone else too. Especially your parents."

"I will?....I mean yes I will do that. I'm sure they won't like the arrangement but I'm sure they'll be happy."

With that Jason made his way out to the car and head out to the highway. He knew the way well enough to not bother with his phones GPS for a while until he decided he wanted an estimate of how long and how late he'd get home. It would be after 10:00pm so he figured he should call his parents before it got to late along with Debbie Farmer who normally took on the little task around the farm like carrying for the dogs and checking on the other animals at the farm. They kept sheep and chickens, and with the barn complete Victory's idea was to board horses from other farms.

For the girls it was a wonderful experience, and despite farm work being far from easy they took too it well. He was sure all the feral barn cats actually had names, and were loved. They were being shown some of that love at that moment Jay thought as he headed up the highway. The dogs would be out and about. It would probably too late to talk to the Farmers though about his plans. He had to do some more planning, but he wasn't going to take them for granted.

He called his parents first and as normal his father picked up the landline in the workshop, and his mother was on the portable phone in the kitchen cooking up something. After the regular hello's his mother was the first to say, "how did it go honey? When are my grandchildren coming to visit I don't care about the Fuentes they can see them after. I hope she doesn't have them living in some horrible neighborhood."

"Mom the girls send their love and so does my wife. She's hoping you guys come to the city. We're working it out and might be splitting time between here and the city. I'm still figuring out, but nobody is getting divorced and everyone will see the kids," the part about wanting them to visit might have been a small lie, but he'd let his wife handle it when the time came.

"Sweetie can't do that! I mean all that time away isn't good and you don't know what she's doing when your not there."

Finally his father piped in with surprising support when he said, "Pamela I spent plenty of time away from home and didn't like it, but you stay married. It's different for them and if he says they're working it out that's good enough for us. Now just don't let it get out hand boy."

"Yes dad," he replied with a smile on his face as he drove. They talked about a few things before he finally hung up. They weren't completely happy but this was still a bit better then a divorce. That's pretty much how he felt about things. Now he had to make arrangements to see his wife and his girls. Before it was just roll over and hug her or walk down the hall to see the girls. Well it was good for all of them so he could learn to adapt. He just didn't need to be happy about it.

He rolled in just after 10:00 pm and was a little surprised to see Debbie still out there with the dogs. She called them all in and as he parked he saw Peaches walking along a little slower then the rest. She liked to go up to the barn and actually play with the cats, and seemed to befriended some of the other animals. Debbie said Peaches was the neighborhood grandma when it came to all the animals.

He got out and walked over and they exchanged pleasantries, and even a hug and walked inside. For course she asked how it went as she passed out dog treats, and as she checked out Peaches he explained how things would work or at least how they'd try to make it work. He did tell her their might be more to do, and that meant more money for her and her husband.

"Well that's good Jason, but to be honest I kinda want him to move on work wise. I mean things are great here and we love renting from you and everything, but this is part time. He's always hustling for side work. He likes it and the boys love it here. Hunter misses Lee a lot. I think it's sweet. I mean I married my first love. Well I tell him that I mean he's not the first man I had sex with, but he's the one I loved. Won't tell him will ya."

Jason laughed and smiled as he listened to her being matter of fact before responding when he said, "tell him what you chose him over everybody else or that he was the best."

"Oh no you do that he'll be strutting around the house Mr. Big Daddy. Just you know well. Thing is I have benefits and a pension and well he's just got a drive that will make him work until he can't. I need us to have some security. I see old boys around here all the time. Worked hard all their lives to put food on the table and in the end don't have much to show for it."

"I know what you mean and I understand. When we bought the farm it was more of a hobby and a tax thing. It shouldn't be like that. I think we need to expand and get more crops and livestock. As for you guys I'm thinking we might need to build a house on the property, and if we can make it happen we'd like you all to stay on. I have to go over it with Victory, but we want to setup a business here. That includes the Christmas trees I know Hunter is so fond of. I think we can do better then the minimum sales every year."

A smile came to Debbie's face as she looked up from the dogs who were dividing their time between humans as they got petted. "You mean this would be a full time job with ah salary and benefits."

"We'll put something together based on what you need and what we can offer. I might be making some other changes too, but tell Joey to put together a presentation of everything he wants to do with the figures and what not and we'll talk about it. Could be good for everyone."

"He's not that good with the computer Jay I mean he knows everything you want though."

"Notes on a legal pad that I can read out clearly will be fine. Also thoughts on a house as well. Costs and design."

Debbie gave him a hug which surprised him and he just held her and said, "we're just talking business honey."

"I know I know, but it's nice doing business with friends."

After they talked a little more Debbie headed head home down the path in her old pickup truck clearly happy. Jason took care of the house and stored the food for tomorrow. It sucked having to get up early, but he had work to catch up on and he had to get back into the swing of things. The place was so quiet without the girls or Victory around. Maybe that's what reminded him why he needed to change. He didn't want to listen to this type of quiet for too long.

With no Cody about he went downstairs one more time and brought Peaches back upstairs. He setup the special bed the girls had for her and put it in the master bedroom. Peaches wasn't sure what to do and looked for the girls firs before wondering back in and laying down. She seemed very tired, but still wagged her tail happily. He kneed down and petted her slowly. He'd have Debbie take her to the vet this week if there was an opening. He might just hear again that she was just old, but he was going to make sure she was okay regardless of the cost.

Before turning in though he finished setting up his Facebook account and posted a few pictures from the past week and friend-ed everything he could find right away including the girls. He posted a few pictures, and while it might embarrass them a little he posted the one of the pair in diapers and pink t-shirts sitting with Peaches on the couch. He had to wait for their reply to snoop on their pages, but he hoped that doing this would keep in in the loop. Victory had a page for friends and work, so in the pass he'd just piggybacked off of hers. In a small town you didn't have to do social media, you just needed to be social, but this would expand his reach.

Meanwhile back in Atlanta Victory was trying to get her two high energy girls to slow down and go to sleep so they wouldn't drag through school. Funny thing was anything sports related that would perkup again, but she made it clear being awake and attentive helped. Excuses like I'll just join the Marines or I'll be a fitness model weren't going to cut it, and saying screw math I'll be a stripper was a sure way to incur mom's rage. With Cody with them the girls found a new excuse, but even the dog seemed tired so things settled down.

When she did come by she did hear Lee call Ramona into her room and heard some awes and giggles. She walked into her daughters room and found the pair taking selfies with something their father wrote.

"What's going on girls. You were here when your father wrote on your wall."

Lee got up and walked over and pulled Victory over and said, "he wrote something else too. Oh he did all laundry too. Even the stuff on the floor."

"He did your stuff on the floor, but it's weird he even did the delicate stuff. That used to skeve dad out. But what he wrote was well really cool."

"Yeah even if it's from a kids book."

Victory finally got a look and a smile came to her face. She never doubted that he loved his girls, but he was interested in making strong women too.

You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. Christopher Robin to Pooh Bear

She wanted to call him right then and there, to tell him how much she loved him, how much the girls loved him, but of course Victory didn't do that. Jason hadn't been gone more than fifteen minutes before the girls showed her his little message on the wall, way too soon to be calling him to swoon like a 16 year old girl. Or the 19 year old girl crushing on the 21 year old local hero who dragged her out of the woods and saw her home safely after a night of binge drinking.

"Well you're father likes to pretend he's some macho good ole boy but he's really a sweetheart," she said with a grin and ran her fingers over the message on Lee's wall. "Did I ever tell you the story of how we met?"

"Only like a million times," Lee said with rolled eyes, and Ramona gave her a shove.

"It's still a cute story though...Daddy carrying you on his shoulders after you sprained your ankle..."

"You know they were drunk right," Lee said with a raised eyebrow, her arms folded across her chest as she looked at her mother. Victory had always tried to downplay that fact but they were older enough now to be told the truth, even if they already knew it.

"I won't deny there was a keg but that's not the day I'm talking about," she clarified with a grin and both girls gave her a wide eyed look. Victory just shook her head as she threw an arm around both girls and ushered them over to Lee's bed. The full sized day bed had more than enough room for the three of them and they piled in. Ramona was already giddy, knowing there was a story coming. Even Lee seemed unperturbed by the possible trip down memory lane and Victory smiled as the girls settled down beside each other.

"That was when we started dating," she said as she leaned back against the wall already grinning at the memory of that hot day in June 1986 when a six year old Victory Fuerte tried out for little league the first time. "Me and Daddy used to live down on the same road..."

"Nana Pam and Papaw don't live anywhere near Nana Cheryl and Buelo," Lee disputed with her eyes narrowed at her mother, who simply shook her head.

"That's because they downsized when Daddy moved out...who's telling this story me or you," Victory said with a raised eyebrow and Lee threw up her hands, but Victory caught the hint of smirk on her face as she lean back to listen.

It was the summer before first grade and young Victory was nervous about making new friends at a new school. Since both her parents worked, Victory had been relegated to the Hospital's employee day care center instead of the county run half-day kindergarten. Unlike the kids in her neighborhood, her friends were scattered all over the town so going outside to play was a lonely thing for Victory. It was her father's idea to get her into summer sports before the school year in effort to jump start her social skills. There were only two leagues back then, football and baseball, and at her age there was no gender division. Then again there weren't many girls playing either but she chose baseball anyway. Not because she was afraid of getting hit but because of her father's affinity for the Yankees. Plus she already had a glove and playing catch after her afternoon snack was something of a routine of theirs.

"I was so nervous that first day," Victory said shaking her head, not even looking at the girls as she chuckled a little at the memory. "Out of all those kids there were maybe three or four girls and I was the youngest. They all knew each other already and I was just that girl with the weird name. Uncle Danny was such an asshole too...making fun of me for my black glove with rainbow laces and sparkly cleats. He kept calling me pipsqueak...and Victoria," she said and both girls gasped, knowing how much their mother hated that mix up. "But I did well. Never missed a catch and when it was time to hit...Uncle Danny tried to be funny and wave everybody in before Mr. Cardoza pitched. You know he had a nerve to throw it underhand..."

"He did not," Mo said, appalled and all Lee did was shake her head.

"He sure did but I didn't even swing. Papi started yelling from the bleachers in Spanish, telling Mr. Cardoza not to take it easy on me..."

"Did he listen," Lee asked excitedly and Victory chuckled a little, shaking her head.

"Nope he waved in Uncle Brian..."

"Uncle Brian played baseball?" They said in unison and Victory laughed outright.

"For a couple years until he made weight for full pads. He was actually a pretty good pitcher too, got a strike off me with his fast ball," she said and both girls pouting, thinking that was the end of the story. "But his curve ball is shit and I cracked it square, sent it almost to the fences. Uncle Danny played second base and crowded the plate as I came around first. Everybody was screaming for me to slide but I knew where that ball was and I knew I could make it home. Uncle Danny caught the ball but he didn't tag the plate. He wanted to tag me out but I but I dropped my shoulder and ran at him hard..."

"Go Mom!"

"He didn't expect that and couldn't hold onto the ball when I ran threw him. Uncle Brian was cheering by then, didn't even make a play on the ball as it rolled towards the mound. And I made it home...didn't even notice my lip was bleeding until I stomped on the plate..."

"Tell me you made the team," Mo asked and Lee gave her a shove.

"Of course she made the team. Nana Cheryl has the pictures all over the house."

"Me, Uncle Brian, Uncle Danny, and Daddy were all on the same team..."

"Really?!" came from both of them at once and again Victory laughed. "I didn't know that," Lee said on her own. Victory couldn't help but grin at her excitement.

"We were but Uncle Danny was none to pleased about having a "little girl" on his team and didn't hide it. Telling everybody we were gonna lose the season because of me but you know what your Daddy said...'Maybe you should have tagged her out instead of getting run over, then maybe she wouldn't made the team.' I thought he was being mean too and Uncle Brian stepped up to defend me but Daddy stuck out his hand and introduced himself, welcoming me to the team."

"Awww so it was love at first sight," Mo swooned and fell over on the bed making her sister roll her eyes and shove her out of bed.

"Love didn't happen for a few years but that moment got us to be friends. If we didn't have that I don't know if that night in the woods would have ever happened since we didn't really stay friends once he went off to middle school."

"Is that why you started dating Uncle Brian," Mo asked from the floor and again Lee shook her head.

"Nope," Victory said with a chuckle as she got up. "That's a story for another night."

"Ughhh come on Mom," they both cried and Victory shook her head.

"Maybe tomorrow. You guys need to get to sleep," she said with a grin and pulled Ramona up before she gave them both a kiss on the forehead. "I love you girls...and I expect you both to be up and read like you were this morning," she said out in the hall and hit both their lights.

Cody hopped up from his bed and followed her around as she cleaned up for the night. She still hadn't gotten used to doing it alone, but now that she and Jason were on the mend, things seemed that much more difficult. Having the furry third child helped a little, the jingle of his tags brought a smile to her face as she locked up and set the alarm before she headed up to her own bedroom.

"Bedtime little buddy," she said from her doorway and Cody began to whimper. "New rules buddy. You sleep in your own bed from now on. Somebody's gotta make sure the girls stay in bed." There was another whimper but Cody trotted off up the stairs and Victory track his paws until they settled in his bed on the loft above.

It was well after ten by then and for the first time in a long time, Victory was actually worried that Jason hadn't called yet. It could have just been traffic but of course her nerve-racked mind showed her visions of that beat up old truck in a ditch. Frantically she dialed his number but relief was the last emotion she felt when he finally answered on the fifth ring.

"I know, I know I got a ass kicking coming," he said groggily but Victory still heard the smile in his voice. "It was late and I've gotten used to you not giving a shit..."

"I've never stopped giving a shit about you you ignorant insensitive jackass..."

"Hey now slow down Victory I was only kidding...I'm sorry baby I forgot. I know how you get I'm sorry," he said and Victory could hear the bed creaking in the background and imagined he was sitting up.

"Yeah well I'm still gonna kick your ass when I see you..."

"And when will that be dearest wife," he asked quickly and Victory answered just as fast.

"Not soon enough." They were quiet for a while, just listening to each other breath a few moments as Victory settled down enough to ask him about the ride. No incidents to report of course, but he did tell her of the invitation he gave to his parents. And he didn't leave out her mother-in-laws worries or his father standing up for them.

"Well let your mother tell it I never do anything right so I doubt she'll be visiting," she said and Jason laughed, making her laugh too. "It's not funny Jay. That woman hates me, always has, now she just has an excuse. I bet she's already got a list of replacements for you to go over."

"Yeah well I ain't looking for one," he said finally and Victory let the issue drop. He'd always stood up for her as far as his mother was concerned and it was nice to know that hadn't changed in her absence. "I talked to Debbie about expanding the farm too. She seemed excited by the idea, said she'd talk to Joey and give us an idea on numbers and what not. Maybe build a house for them instead of that double wide?"

"I'm sure Debbie would love that. Those boys'll be men soon and that trailer ain't gonna cut it. I don't know why we didn't think of that before," she said as she too laid back in bed. They talked a little more about the possibilities of expanding the farm before Victory filled him in on story time with the girls. He got a kick out of that and before either of them knew it they were meandering down a trip on memory lane.

He teased her about her ribbon laced cleats and she reminded him of the time she beaned him in a game of dodge ball on the playground. He admitted, and not for the first time, that he was always sad they grew apart and weren't close in high school. And she told him she was glad he never forgot about her.

"I think that's why me and Brian never got along," he said, and Victory sat up in bed. "Not like I crushed on you or anything but you guys were always buddies but you never gave me the time of day."

"Please you were Mr. Wonderful Jay. The jock of all jocks..."

"Brian was a jock...hell he still is."

"Yeah but he's different..."

"Why cause he likes dudes," he said and Victory burst out laughing. "What you thought I didn't know?"

"Well it's not a secret, and that's not the what made him different. He was a jock but he didn't hang out with the douche crew. You're just mad he got homecoming king and you didn't."

"I don't give a shit about that."

"Now you don't," she said with a snort and Jason sucked his teeth.

"I got you though and that's all that matters," he said and Victory had no comeback worth saying so she fell silent. "Yeah that's what I thought...and since I you're not disputing it, why don't you tell Daddy what you got on?"

"Good night Jason," she said and again he sucked his teeth. "I love you baby."

"Yeah, yeah I love you too. "I'll put my shifts in the calendar sometime tomorrow..."

"And call me so we can figure stuff out...and just talk a little. I miss this," she admitted and he chuckled a little.

"Yeah I missed it too. Sleep well okay and kiss the girls for me...and hey Vic you think you can do the video chat at dinner tomorrow night?"

"Of course Blue Jay. Tomorrow and every night you aren't here."

"Thanks babe. I'll see you tomorrow then."

After the late night phone call Jason slept a lot better and relaxed as he listened to Peaches snooze nearby. He made sure to post a few pictures of her for the girls on Facebook which got likes and happy replies from them and a few of their friends. The next day he made an effort during his morning routine to add in the schedule, and one of the dispatchers said she did it with her husband. It made it easier to coordinate date nights when they worked opposing shifts.

Kendra at South Range The Bridge Bar and Grill along with a number of others helped him out with the video chats and Facebook. The girls checked their pages daily, and Victory had a work one and a personnel one. Carmen regularly did updates while she was at work. She even had a count down clock to her due date. Footage of Hunter and his brother playing with the dogs was received well, and the girls posted a picture of Cody watching Cupcake play. He even saw Brandon's page, and he already didn't like the young hot shot. He was old fashion though, so he'd confront the little punk offline.

Everyone seemed to think he was in a better mood, and while his parents gave him the usual flack at dinner things were made easier thanks to the video chat. They watched as the girls ran around the townhouse with their laptop showing off their rooms, the backyard, and of course Cody's room. Victory did get some unheeded advice from her mother-in-law when it came to her lasagna and Caesar salad, but they otherwise kept the peace for the children. They were curious about the place, and if the girls were going to be their they wanted to be there too at least a little bit.

They even promised to make the time to drive up and visit. Victory promised them good food and a comfortable bed when they arrived. In turn Michael and Pamela promised to bring some homemade items to make the place more like home. They balked at the idea of coming up at the same time as her parents and made every excuse possible as Jason looked on laughing. The elders could stand each other, and might even like each other, but having them all under one roof invited potential suicidal thoughts. From the right way to cook rice to which branch of service had the real men it could get loud.

They were both working hard so phone sex didn't really happen, but there was a lot of loving and flirtatious talk. While they enjoyed family meals together, and the girls loved calling the dogs who looked at the computer curiously he and Victory had their bedtime chats. They slowly got back into the good place they used to be in when they'd lay next to each other and just share about their days. Yeah there was a craving for sex, but it was about the person more then just the act.

Though it wasn't exactly easy he made the trip down for the girl's Saturday game and watched the whole game sitting next to each other and often holding hands. The girls played well and while it was a little bit of a struggle helped win the game. They socialized with the parents in the parking lot for a bit, and with Sunday free he could spend the night with the family. Dinner and movie in the basement was disgusted, but he made it clear the downside of getting Sunday off was that he had to work Wednesday. He would try to see them before the weekend though.

At the moment though everyone enjoyed heading home together. What he didn't tell Victory or the girls was he planned to take a personnel day. He wasn't sure if it would workout as far as visiting, but he had to meet someone in Atlanta. Things were in the very beginning stages, and could take a while. Never mind he wasn't sure he was going to say yes yet if offered the position, but he was going to talk to a friend on the Atlanta Fire Department. He'd considered it years back, but he'd gotten the police job so easily he never looked back. Now was the time to reconsidered his options he thought was he watched Victory happily run up the stairs into the house.

In the week after the reconciliation, Victory realized a few things about her marriage. Being forced to talk without touching had forced them to have real conversations again, allowing them to rediscover why they fell in love in the first place. The easy laughter and playful banter was vintage them. Sure not being able to see the crinkle that came to his eyes when he smiled wasn't great but that didn't diminish what the sound of his laughter did to her heart.

And reconnecting with him allowed her to reconnect with the rest of home. Victory didn't even realize that the distance she put between herself and her friends was a byproduct of the distance between her and her husband. Now that they were speaking again, it was easier for her to call up Carmen on a random afternoon and shoot the shit. She even talked to Danny every once in a while when he answered his wife's phone.

Then there was the girls. As much as she tried to make herself believe that they were doing okay with the separation, Victory couldn't help but notice a distinct change in their behavior now that their Mom and Dad were being civil again. Lee had become exponentially more agreeable which led to a significant drop in fights between her and her sister. Sure she was still a sarcastic jerk but her jabs had become less hurtful and often drew them both to giggles once delivered. They'd even started getting themselves up and ready without her supervision, though Victory knew it was Ramona who ensured her sister adhered to the new rules. And the extra time allowed Victory to take up her morning runs again, with Cody in tow of course.

The positive turn in her personal life bleed into her professional life. The show was enjoying an influx of ratings with the new more relaxed Vic Strong. Sure some of that was due to Tammi Townes bringing her loyal followers when they announced that her weekly guest spots were to become a permanent thing, but Victory wasn't the type of woman who frowned on other women getting shine. Tammi deserved it and they made a good team, their podcast downloads proved it. Having her around gave the show a more comedic edge and that's what Victory always wanted anyway. Sports were supposed to be fun and finally she had a show that reflected it. Of course not all her listeners were happy with the turnaround but Victory didn't care, she was hired because she did things her way and her bosses were pleased.

When Friday rolled around they announced a new segment to close out the show called Weekend Warriors Report where everybody from staff to listeners gave their plans for the weekend. The idea came from the teasing Victory received after the hungover and the positive response the show received from her letting down her wall. The show's twitter feed was full of listeners describing their worst best nights and Matty got the idea that maybe they should make it a regular thing. But it would only work if Victory herself participated so she agreed and kicked off the segment.

"Alright ladies and gents I guess I'm the first at bat...but only because I don't want to get shown up by Tequila Tammi over here..."

"So what Mama likes the sauce I don't mind," Tammi said with a laugh and Matty let off the chug sound.

"I'll make this quick 'cause the phone lines are lighting up. So this weekend is my girls first softball game and it's looking like their father...my husband...is going to be able to make the drive up. So shout out to South Range Sheriff Rodney Charles for moving things around and all the deputies who have to work this weekend so Jay can come up for a visit."

There was silence in the studio and Victory looked around for who was up next. Tammi looked at her slack jawed a moment before she muted her mic and said, "You never said is name before...not once since you've been here." Matty shook his head, wide-eyed and grinning, making Victory blush a little. Tammi lifted her finger off the mute button and said, "Three cheers for the Smith girls in their home opener. They starting?"

"Smith girls don't ride pine," Victory said and the studio cheered. The rest of the team filled in the rest of the 20 minutes leaving very little time for callers but they took a few. Brian Hanover was the last and Victory was tickled pink that someone from back home actually called in.

That night on the phone Jason mentioned how excited his boss was to hear his name on air and how good it felt to not be invisible anymore. She admitted that she hadn't even realized she never mentions him before and promised to make it up to him when he came up. She also reminded him to bring his toolbox so he could make some improvements to the studs in her ceiling. Jason didn't ask any explanation but the chuckle that came through the phone told Victory that he understood her perfectly.

Needless to say that by the time he arrived just before noon the next day all three of the Smith girls were ecstatic to see him. Victory was busy in the kitchen cutting what felt like thousands of oranges for the Warren Lady Thrashers while the girls warmed up with a few rounds of Just Dance in the living room with Cody running back and forth between them. The girls were already in their stirrups, high socks, and brand new long sleeved t-shirts they just had to have. The half-pint cooler was already stocked with Victory's homemade sports drinks, water, and snacks for the grown-ups.

With the game music in surround sound nobody heard the truck pull into the driveway. No human anyway, Cody sprinted to the garage door, tail wagging and barking happily. Alarm turned quickly to excitement when Victory heard the jingle of keys on the door and Ramona squealed as Jason stepped inside with his battered duffle bag in one and his tool box in the other.

"Daddy!" the girl's shouted in unison as they ran at their father full tilt and pounced on him. The sight of hims standing strong with both of their almost women in his arms did more than pluck at Victory's heart strings and she waited for him to shoo the girls away to receive a more private greeting from her husband. The kiss they shared was tame with minimal groping but still the girls let out a chorus of gags and other sounds of disgust before Victory sent them upstairs to get the rest of their stuff.

"You know we have to take my truck right," she said as she finished up the oranges and stacked the container on top of the cooler. "The five of us ain't gonna fit in that pick up."

"You couldn't have told me that before I got in," was his snarky reply and Victory blew him a kiss before she tossed him her keys. Jason caught them both with a grumble and went back out the way he came.

By the time he returned the girls were coming down with their bags in tow, looking like proper athletes in their slides and team jackets with their team nickname embroidered above their number on the front. Even though they weren't identical, the girls shared a nickname, Holy MoLee. A weird combination of their names and some inside joke the girls kept a well guarded secret. Aside from their gear both girls had a gift bag decorated in their school's orange, brown, and white and set them down on the counter.

"What's this," Jason asked with a raised eyebrow and shift his eyes to Victory, who simply shrugged her shoulders before she tore into the tissue paper to find an orange t-shirt with the team logo on the front and "MoLee's Mom" emblazoned on the back above their numbers, "7/13". With the exception of Dad and being a few sizes bigger, Jason's was the same and both parents donned their shirts before they headed out to the field.

As expected, both girls started but it wasn't a cake walk. The score was tied until the bottom on the seventh when Ferris Farley knocked one to the fences with the bases loaded. There were plenty of high fives exchanged in the stands and the post game talk in the parking lot was rowdy as families waited for their girls. Jason and Frank Farley seemed to be hitting off pretty well. The idea of fishing trips was being tossed around by the time the girls emerged from the locker room.

"I don't know if you guys had family stuff planned but Erin likes to have the team over after games to watch film," he said, the last with air quotes around the last two words. "It's not mandatory or anything, just pizza and fun team building stuff."

Victory opened her mouth to decline but it was Jason who spoke up. "I'm sure they'd rather do that than movie night with us," he said with a grin at Victory and Frank chuckled a little as all four of the girls ran up.

"Please Mommy can we go..."the Smith girls begged in unison.

"Please please please Mrs. Smith," came from the Farley girls and Victory couldn't say no, especially with Jason nudging her side.

"Fine," she said with rolled eyes and all four girls squealed. "Do they need to bring anything?"

"Just the usual sleepover stuff," Frank said with a shrug before he ushered his girls to the car. "Bring 'em over anytime."

The girls were so giddy from the win and sleepover fun that they barely spoke to their parents on the ride home, allowing Jason and Victory to discuss their own plans. Vaguely of course, in case they were overheard.

"You mind taking the girls so I can get dinner started?"

"That'll delay me taking care of that honey-do list you mentioned last night," he said and reached over to the driver seat to grip her thigh.

"I don't mind watching you work baby you know that," she told him with a grin and slipped her hand into his. Victory brought his palm to her face to kiss and Jason let his fingers graze along her cheek, eliciting an "Aww" from the girls in the back.

"Hey Dad when we get back tomorrow can we just hang out at home," Ramona asked with her head between the seats and Jason leaned down to plant a kiss on her forehead. "The barbeque was cool but I kinda miss just doing nothing with you guys..."

"Says the kid who just begged to go hang out with her friends," Victory said with a snort.

"How's that sound to you Lee?"

"Any excuse for me not to wear shoes is fine with me."

"I got a few good grass fed t-bones in the fridge you could throw on the grill," Victory suggested with a grin and Jason shrugged.

"What my girls want, my girls get," he said and again Ramona and Lee squealed.

"That's never gonna stop is," Jason asked with his fingers in his ears and Victory shook her head laughing.

Once back at the house the girls wasted no time getting ready for their sleep over party, and as much as Jason loved his girls he was happy to let someone else enjoy the insanity of yet another pair of teenagers. He remembered when he and his wife would walk around carrying the baby girls, sometimes trading off, but holding them until they drifted off to sleep. Boys, high school, and moving out seemed a million miles way. Now they needed rides and spending money not someone to check for monsters.

Changed and clean they came pounding down the back stairs with their mother yelling at them to clam down. Jeans and Thrasher t-shirts were identical, but there were always differences. Lee didn't do anything with her hair beyond put it on a bandanna carrying her camouflage pattern backpack and sleeping bag. Her sister actually went through the trouble to style her hair to be "bedhead" at least and put in big hop earnings. She had her pink dance back and sleeping bag over her shoulder.

Without thinking Victory tossed them clear plastic water bottles as they headed towards the door. As they walked out she said, "Have fun ladies, be polite, and hydrate."

She smiled and tossed him another bottle and said, "you too baby. The address is in the car's GPS. See you in a few."

"Thanks baby won't be long."

Once inside the SUV Jason had to admit it was a pretty nice ride, and it had plenty of choices of music which included the satellite. At the stop light he looked through the selection and found his play list and realized she got this vehicle while they weren't talking. She had no expectations of him riding in this vehicle either. Maybe she missed hearing his crap on the stereo. Seemed he kept finding pieces that made him think about the whole situation.

For the girls sitting in the back it was the unpleasant shock their father didn't have to wait for their father to find his taste in music. Lee who was normally a fan tried to change his mind," Dad put on mom's station okay they have the scores."

Ramona was more blatant, "please nothing old Dad."

"I don't listen to old music. I listen to classic rock. Your two are worse then Nana Fuentes!"

So for the rest of the ride despite his girls comments they listened to his mix until they rolled up in front of their friend's house. The girls being overly dramatic practically dove out of the car when they arrived. Jason just shook his head and walked around back and handed off their stuff and sighed looking at them and just smiled.

Curious eyes were met with his reply of," I love you guys so much. Don't forget that as you grow up okay."

The pair just responded in unison and grabbed him around the waist and hugged him tight. Ramona whispered, "we're glad your back Daddy."

Lee whimpered a little and said,"it's not the same without you."

They held on for a little while longer before collecting their stuff and heading off to join their friends. With their father knowing he was loved and they were loved by him they were free to have some fun. He could already hear the yells from inside the house. He just watched Frank and shook his head.

He looked back at Jason and said before heading back in, "Your house next time."

Free of his offspring for the evening he headed home back to Victory. It was beginning to feel a little more like that. Sure he liked acres of woods around him, but the town house was a good fit. Also Victory was right it was right they always had the farm to retreat too when they were done with city life. He wasn't going to tell her about the job, but if it worked out he could split time, and they'd see each other more often. He'd try to handle that next week. Right now though his mind was on dinner and Victory and not necessarily in that order.

Once back in the house he made sure the place was secure and put his weapon and his cellphone in the basket near the key racket. He inhaled the pleasant smell of dinner cooking. Victory's less then traditional ballpark meal. Good plump Brat wursts and sauerkraut in crockpot which she started earlier. The homemade baked beans were also prepared complete with the chunks of bacon. The girls didn't know what they were missing, but he was going to find Victory.

Hearing music he didn't yell upstairs and just walked up and headed into the master bedroom. The loud music had driven Cody out who was probably up sleeping in the loft. He smiled as he walked into the bedroom and saw Victory rocking out to one of his favorite classics. She was barefoot and only in purple tie dye style panties and a white belly shirt with MILF in purple on it. He remembered her getting the shirt at the fair and swearing to the girls she'd never wear it out.

She swayed and danced to the music with a towel covering her wet hair. He stood in the doorway watching wishing he hadn't left his phone downstairs. These were the special little moments he loved, so he reached for her iPhone, but before he could pick it up she looked at him surprised and then down at the phone.

"No don't you dare. Now that your on Facebook everyone will see me in my underwear."

"Well everyone will see I have a hot wife who despite sport injuries, bad hair days, and carrying two huge twin girls still looks hot," he said as he closed in and kissed her and caressed her."

She made some happy sounds and wrapped her arms around him and kissed back before nuzzling with him and whispering, "yeah but undies are bedroom stuff. Nobody get's to see that but you and maybe the girls at the gym. Don't you want dinner first?"

He shook her head and just picked her up and carried her to the bed and she just kissed him back and whispered, "your an animal. You smell like the farm and sweat and the truck. We have a great shower, and what about the girls."

He dropped her on the bed and began pulling off his clothes stripping bare he just looked at her and grunted out, "later and they're fine until tomorrow. Want you now."

He climbed on top of her band began kissing her hands rubbing her breasts through the thin t-shirt before pulling it off her and then sliding his hands down her sides to her waist band. He lifted her butt and pulled them off her and down her legs and gently massaged her feet. After being in heels most of the day she moaned and smiled as he kissed down her legs. He slid her to the edge of the bed and began licking her kitty as he caressed her clit.

She moaned sitting up legs spread now. She reached down and caressed his messy hair and smiled. The good dirty fun they used to have together. After working all day or working out. They seldom showered before they had fun. After you got comfortable with a person intimacy meant different things. He'd seen her shave her legs and they didn't close the bathroom door. So why object to the dirty sweaty man licking her passionately. She only cried out with pleasure.

She eventually got him to crawl up on the bed with her and as she lay on her side down be the pillows he laid opposite on the other end of the bed. She took his cock in her mouth after many long slow licks and kisses around his cock and thighs. With nobody to disturb she sucked and moaned loudly as they pleasured each other.

They later faced each other and kissed as they touched and explored. There was a few new thrills to being together like this, and they savored the whole experience. Soon they were truly christening the new bed. With the new special mattress it took more to get traction, making it more comfortable, and also making sex take longer. In and out again and again on a soft pad made things so enjoyable, but as always it was the lover.

The orgasmed hard together after all the time holding back. Seemed no phone sex or touching served them well. Jason filled Victory with warm seed as he felt his cock explode with passion as well as semen making his body shake. For Victory she felt the waves of passion and she screamed as she dragged her nails down his back. The panted and kissed and savored the after glow before laying next to each other holding hands.

With fingers interlaced they looked at each other. Victory spoke first looking into her husbands eyes questioningly. "What is it honey you good baby."

"Yeah I'm very good, but maybe we could share a shower and then eat, and in in a little while we could try this gain? But most of all I just want to be around you. I could have watched you do the laundry, but well I just wanted you so bad. Life is better with you in it."

Despite her blush, Victory pulled out from beneath Jason and pulled on his t-shirt as she headed for the door. "Shhh," she said with her finger to her lips, head cocked to the side and he sat up in bed with that fresh fucked look that she loved so much. Sweat matted hair plaster on his forehead, his perpetually farmer tanned skin glistening and red, and that silly euphoric look on his face. Yes he missed her, but he missed him just as much. "Do you hear that?"

"What? Cody snoring upstairs?"

"No silly, the silence. How often have we had a moment to ourselves since the girls? I think we should enjoy it the way we used to," she said with a grin before she trotted off down the stairs.

With their box of toys and his heavy tool box, it took her two trips with Jason lounging comfortably in the bed she purchased for them. Ever the explorer, he found the remote to adjust the head and foot of the bed, finding a position that suited his length while he flipped through the channels on the big screen mounted in front of the bed. It didn't take him long to find a dirt track race on one of the obscure outdoor channels Victory didn't even know existed. All the while she emptied the box of their toys, he hooted and hollered at the screen and Victory couldn't help but grin.

This was exactly what she wanted, for them to be normal in this new place. It was just like he said, home was more about the people in it than the place and now that Jason was here, this place finally felt like it. She smiled at him, but he was too busy watching the TV to notice and she didn't mind. Clearly he was comfortable in this place he assumed he would be only a visitor. Lucky for Jason, Victory wasn't the type of wife to say I told you so, even if she was a bit bossy.

"Aight handyman, breaks over," she said and tossed him his boxers. "I don't pay you to laze about..."

"You don't pay me at all," he said with a grin, pulling on his boxers and standing up all in the same motion.

"Oh I don't," was her quick reply, arms folded across her chest, one eyebrow raised, and he threw up his hands.

"Just jokes Vic...I'm always saying I'm overpaid you know that baby," he said trying to clean it ups with soft kisses as he wrapped his arms around her.

"Mmmhmm sure tell me anything..."

"Naw just the truth my dear...Just the truth," he said with that cocky grin of his and she gave him a playful shove.

"Yeah, yeah whatever cowboy. Get the swing up and I'll get dinner ready. Would it be overly country to have brats in the bath?"

"Only if we had a few beers too."

"I'll get the bucket," she said with a grin and he gave her ass a hard slap that made her squeal as she headed back downstairs.

All the activity woke Cody who came trotting down the stairs behind Vic and brushed up against her bare legs before he settled in the corner. "Already learned huh?" she asked with a grin when she noticed his proximity to the treat jar. As usual she put the first on his nose and told him to wait while she went about the business up setting of a platter of hearty rolls. And he held strong until she said go, which always awarded him with two extra treats. He roamed around a little more while Victory loaded up the sandwiches but before too long he was scratching at the back door. She opened the door with a warning to stay out of trouble, knowing the 8 foot privacy fence would take care of that and he headed out with a yelp. Victory watched him for a moment, chasing fireflies before he found his bone and set to chewing. Even Cody's presence made this place feel like home and she couldn't wipe the grin off her face even if she tried.

It only got wider when she came back upstairs to find Jason hard at work. He'd found the short ladder and maneuvering his stud finder along the ceiling, muttering the whole time. She didn't say a word as she passed him to open the sliding glass door that led out to the balcony. With the screen closed, only the crisp air and the sounds of the city at night to flood into the room. And of course Cody's tags jingling below, satisfied she headed into the bathroom to prepare the bath. She skipped the bubbles, instead pouring a healthy scoop of lavender bath salts into the steamy water before she turned on the jets. She added a few drops of patchouli oil and lit her lavender and sage candle so he wouldn't make too much of a fuss and dimmed the lights. By the time she was bringing up the food and ice bucket full of a local micro brew she recently discovered, Jason was finishing up his work with the hooks that would secure the swing to the ceiling.

"Think the girls'll notice 'em," he asked and Victory let out a snort.

"I doubt it. They only come in here to settle disputes and those have been few and far between lately," she answered, stopping short of the reason. It didn't need to be said and they both looked up at the hooks, the same lusty grin on both their faces. "But still maybe you could paint them before you go. I think there's some leftover in the garage."

"Yeah well I'll dig around in there later," he told her as he pulled the tray of brats from her hands. "What happened to the beans?"

"Later I don't want the aftermath in the bath with me," she said with a giggle as she stripped off his t-shirt and headed into the bathroom.

"This is way better than the antique tub at home. No feet but looks like we can both fit," he admitted and Victory could tell that he was trying not to like it as she stepped into the still steaming water.

There was a folding table of distressed wood beside the bath to keep the food and beverages within arms reach while they luxuriated face to face. Brats were eaten and beers were sipped mostly in silence, stealing glances at each other as the sounds of the city floated in from the open door and windows. Once their bellies were full Victory got up to turn on 90s rock music station. It wasn't exactly either of their tastes but it provided a happy enough medium that they could both sing along when the mood struck.

"Oh my goodness Jay it's prom night all over again," Victory said as she leaned back against his chest and hummed along. "You took that slutty girl...what was her name again...Carla something or other..."

"Carli D'Agostino," he said dreamily with his head back against the edge of the tub and Victory repaid his reverent tone with a hard pinch to the softness beneath his ribs. "What?! You asked her name..."

"Yeah but you didn't have to say it like that. I know she's back in town and I know how much your mother loved her..."

"That's only because she didn't know Carli sneaking in my room with no panties on every other night," he said with a chuckle and Victory pinched him again. "Come on babe everybody had a turn...and what do you care anyway. You were only at that prom because you were dating Brian..."

"Yeah," she said with a sigh and Jason sucked his teeth. "I swear that man deserves and Oscar for how well he played straight."

"Come on Vic really..."

"Hey, I had to hear about pantiless Carli D. And you should be glad me and him stayed close. He taught me that thing you like," she said and he narrowed his eyes at her. "You know that thing I do with my tongue. Don't worry it was after me and you starting dating, he was nice enough to give me a few tips to keep you interested..." She trailed off as a very distinct baseline came through the speakers. Victory let out an excited squeal before she started singing along word for word with Jason shaking his head the whole time. Sublime was nothing like his thing and he always teased her about her stoner past whenever he caught her rocking in the house. And now was no different, even as she stood up in the bath to dance around a little.

"Remind you of those times under the bleachers," Jason said with a chuckle, his eyes following the sway of her hips. She didn't dignify him with a response, continuing to play air guitar as her body rocked along with the beat. Water cascaded down her breasts and Jason found himself licking his lips as he watched her, eye closed enjoying the songs of her youth.

It was their youth really, but they lived in separate worlds back then. He was a jock and Vic, well Vic was something else. Sure she played sports every season and had her own lettermen's jacket to prove it, but they didn't sit at the same lunch table. Regardless of their previous association, Victory and Jason were on divergent paths on the social hierarchy of high school. He was on homecoming court every year and she never even made the ballot. She took AP classes and he took shop. But unlike most of their classmates, who still adhered to those immature social standards, both Victory and Jason let go them go once they left, allowing them to come together again. And see each other in a new light. It might have been the booze but their divergent paths crashed into each other that night.

Victory giggled as the song ended, hand over her mouth, finally noticing the hungry look in her husband's eyes. Her cheeks colored a little, whether it was from the six beers or his attention didn't matter as he grabbed her hand and yanked her down into his lap. Water sloshed and splashed out of the bath. Victory opened her mouth to complain but the words were cut off by his lips as he maneuvered her onto his erection with a hand on her ass. The other was still tangled with hers as their tongues danced back and forth. Tongues were the only thing that moved between them as he held her in place, allowing her to enjoy his length inside her until she pulled away.

"I can't believe how good you feel," she mumbled against his lips, finally rocking her hips back and forth. "But baby what about the swing?"

"That swing's not going anywhere Vic..."

"But you did all that work."

"It's not going anywhere, plus we gotta check the bathroom off," he said with a wink, making her giggle a moment before she press her lips to his.

Years of athletics allowed Victory to take control of the situation, riding Jason long and slow. She rocked and wound her hips expertly, bringing him to the edge over and over but pulling him back before he tumbled over the side. And he held her close, fingers digging into her hips but she was no better with her finger nails raising welts along his shoulders. Their grunts and moans were almost as constant as the sound of sloshing water as she wound her hips in wide circles in his lap and he lean down to take one of her nipples into his mouth.

It was his teeth that forced her climax, applying gentle pressure to her tender flesh. Or maybe it was his hand in her hair, pulling her head back so hard it bowed her back. Either way it was his name on her lips as she came. Her body quivered. Locked up completely, arms and legs squeezing him so hard she was afraid his ribs might bruise. But of course Jason didn't tap out, not until his own sweet release.

And again they were still. Eyes locked. Fingers intertwined. Breaths deepened gradually as they drifted into the afterglow. "I could stay like this forever," she mumbled as she rest her head on his shoulder. And she would have had it not been for the cold breezy blowing in from the still open door. Or Cody's barking.

"I'll get him," Jason said with a chuckle at her mumbled curse but Victory was already getting out and wrapping one of those big bath sheets around her body.

"I got it...you can clean up this mess you made," she said with a grin and bolted out the door.

"You mean we made," he shouted after her and sucked his teeth at her answering cackle.

Part of him wanted to leave it, but Jason prided himself on being a good husband. Once he had himself dry, he used the same towel to sop up he splash which turned out not to be that much. He also blew out all the candles and let the water out of the tub before he closed everything up. He was in bed with the remote in one hand and a beer in the other before Victory made it back upstairs.

"Well don't you look comfy," she said as she dropped her towel on the floor and climb in beside him.

"Cause I am," he said with a grin, handing her the last beer. They gave the necks and she lifted his arm to snuggle against his chest. "Movie?"

"Whatever," she said with a shrug.

"That's why I love you babe," he said and she snorted into her bottle.

They snuggled, kissed, and drank as they put on Casablanca. The classic might not have been the best choice, after all it was about a couple splitting apart and a guy giving up his love for a greater cause, but it was still a good movie. As they cuddled with each other in the dim light the black and white classic played on in the background. It had been a wonderful evening, and they hadn’t had one like that in a long time. No worries about waking the girls or having to get up early, and no hang ups about being naked with someone who loved you. Yeah it was one of those nights that you enjoyed along the journey called life.

Victory groaned as she found all the bottles were empty on the night stand and slid back down on top of him and kissed his cheek and asked, “would you let me go to be with another man if he had to do something important like save the world and you knew he loved me too?”

“Sure if it mattered that much.”

“Really just like that you’d let me go off and be with someone else?”

“Yeah he wouldn’t be able to chew food while he worked on whatever it was and the girls would be with me, but yeah I’d let you go off and be happy with some loser.”

“You’re so romantic,” she said pinching him playfully that got him to pull on her and roll on top of her breathing on her neck. It made her sigh and she looked into his eyes and said, “Well you’re about as romantic as a cave man you redneck, but I love you for how you love me.”

He gently caressed her as they lay tangled in sheets and with the movie in the background. His hands traced down a feminine form that had been one of the strong athlete, the tough farm wife, the fertile goddess, and a life companion to a simple man. He kissed her lips and continued to do so until she stopped him to look in his eyes and wipe away the tears of a man she loved. She looked at him questioningly, but not harshly but wondering. After all she’d seen her husband cry so rarely over the twenty years she knew him.

She lightly caressed his hair and looked into his eyes and asked, “Honey what’s wrong I thought we were good I mean. What’s going on I’m here I’m happy I’m with you. I didn’t say anything I was just play baby. Is it something else?”

“I don’t like the thought of you being gone any more. I never thought that could be happen and then I did. It was easier to be mad then think about you being gone and not wanting me in your life then thinking we’d had our run and it was over. I know I would have been fine, but that’s not something I want with us. I want us to talk and love and share. I’m not taking this for granted. I’m not some loser who will be pining for you, but…”

She interrupted and placed her finger over his lips and shook her head no before saying, “you’re never going to be a loser to me or anyone who matters. I know you’d survive without me, but life is better with you in it, and you told me it’s the same for you. That’s no weak. You’re professing your love to your wife! That is going to make me cry. We’ve had hard times, raised kids, and we still come back to each other to be happy. Even with all the sex and fun and stuff like that you know we have something deeper. Dammit Jason I’m supposed to be the one to come up with this stuff, and I know what you mean just by the way you say it.”

“Doesn’t that mean we share a deeper understanding in our relationship that’s beyond words?”

“Oh enough with the insightful remarks! Can’t you be some redneck that’s a good lay and sweet to me?”

“No this more fun. You know watching you lose your mind after you’ve orgasmed.”

“I lost my mind when I said I do. Everything else just came with the marriage,” and with that they hugged kissed and she whispered softly, “I madly, deeply, love you and you’re going to know that until the end of time Blue Jay.”

This time for a first time in a long time they cuddled up in the late hours close in spirit as well as physically. She had her leg over his and her head on his chest with her arm reaching out caressing him until the both drifted off to sleep. Jason wasn’t her first, but she was sure she knew what love was when they got involved. She’d had a few boyfriends and some fun before she connected with him, but one of the things that told her the relationship wouldn’t last was when they slept together.

She never wanted to admit as a strong independent woman there were some thing she missed about her man including the things she didn’t necessarily like. At the station one woman called in to share the sports she liked, but since her husband’s passing she was watching a lot more baseball. When asked who her favorites were she replied she didn’t like the game all that much. She just missed her husband so much she’d turn on the game while she was knitting to make the it feel like he was still there. Victory wished her well and sent a few prizes and actually had to use the bathroom to dry any tears. She almost called Jason that morning to say let’s put all this behind us we only have so much time together.
Sure her and her husband had a wonderful romantic life, and the fact that most of the toys and positions came into the bedroom to increase their fun not because they were in some kind of a rut. With other men though she always had trouble going to sleep whether it was physically feeling right in bed or just the feeling she had towards them. It didn’t let her get comfortable and while her college roommate thought her lack of sleep some nights came from all the passion she knew it was because of the lack of love and trust. Her first overnight experience with Jason wasn’t just great sex, but a wonderful night’s sleep after intimacy.

So the first few nights in the new house it was a struggle to fall asleep without him in her bed despite a new mattress and sheets. She eventually just fell asleep telling herself that was the new normal, but to make herself feel a little better she’d lie on her side some nights and hold a large body pillow. In the early morning hours though she woke in shock to find she’d cuddled up to her pillow and not her husband! She shot up straight and bed and looked around.

The clock said 5:00 AM, the bathroom light wasn’t on, and he wasn’t looking out the window. She nervously scrambled around in the dark before finally turning on the light. She paused and took a breath and found at least some of his clothes, and the rest of the stuff brought. She relaxed for a moment knowing he hadn’t left and it wasn’t a dream and pulled on a pair of boyshorts and a t-shirt she had nearby and went out into the hallway.

She saw her office light on and heard Cody gnawing on something she hoped wasn’t one of her heels and walked in and found Jason and the dog on the floor. Cody wagged his tail and looked up before going back to his large bone. Before she could open her mouth though she noticed the whole room was filled with color. Two large Japanese dragons were stretched out around her office. Colorful and interesting, but what where they doing here?

“Baby you left me. This isn’t the farm you don’t have to get up so early I missed you.”

Jason stood up and smiled and kissed her and held her hands and said, “Glad you missed me but I didn’t go far. Cody needed to be out and I didn’t want to wake you again.”

“MMM….right I do remember you waking me up but fell right back to sleep. What is all this in my office though?”

“Well they’re a pair of dragons that I bought at the Kite Market before I got here. You don’t like them.”

“I do honey but they don’t belong in my office I mean I still do a lot of work here and Cody will try to play with them or fight with them. And how did you know about the Kite Market?”

“Agreed I have plenty of fishing line so we can hang them above the bed when the sex swing isn’t up, and nobody will ask why the hooks are there. They might think it’s odd for an adult’s bedroom, but that’s it. I found the place on the girl’s Facebook page. Seems they like it a lot. I take it that’s where you got them their kites in their room.”

“Ah yeah and I like that they’ll be good karma or whatever for the bedroom. Two dragons protecting the place right?”

“Well I just thought they were colorful,” he said with a smile.

"Sure you did," she said with a smirk and left him to it. Now that she was awake, Victory didn't want to waste precious time sleeping while Jason was awake so she headed out into the kitchen to get the coffee going and filled Cody's bowls with fresh water and a couple scoops kibble. The rattle of food in the bowl brought him into the kitchen with her but it was the coffee that brought Jason.

"So I hear the balcony's almost as good as the porch," he said and Victory rolled her eyes, even as she loaded her tray with the warming carafe, two mugs, a few morning glory muffins, and all the coffee fixings.

"Might be better now," she said with wink and scooped up the tray. With Jason close behind, Victory headed out to her balcony and set down the tray before she went back inside to grab her tablet and slip on her robe. She left the simple black full length wrap open as she slid into the cushioned Adirondack chair opposite Jason.

While she scanned through the weekend sports news and made note for Monday's show, Victory made the occasional glance at her husband who sipped his coffee contentedly as scanned the horizon. She could tell by his eyes that he was making note of the neighborhood, his police officer's eye noting points of interest. He didn't say anything but she could tell that he enjoyed the unobstructed view of the rising sun in the distance as much as she did.

It was something they did often. Before they had any responsibilities, when he was just a day laborer and she was just a college student. Before going to bed early was an option, they climb up onto the roof of his apartment building and stay up all night to watching the sunrise. Sometimes they'd park out in the woods and lay out on a blanket in the flatbed of his truck. When the girls came along, the tradition was renewed with early morning feedings. Jason would hold one while Victory held the other, or simply sit and keep her company while both girls nursed. Once the girls started sleeping through the night, sleeping became a priority and sunrises went unseen again.

"This ain't half bad," he said with a grunt as he stood up. In just his boxer briefs, Victory found herself ogling this man she loved so much, not much unlike she had when she firsr saw him naked all those years ago. Sure things were softer now, his once taut abs were now rounded but there was still a good amount of muscle visible beneath the downy tufts of light brown hair. His arms and shoulders were still just as corded and a little moan escaped her as she watched him stretch and yawn.

"Not at all," she said with a smirk as he reached into his boxers to give himself a scratch and lean down to plant a kiss on her forehead. "I love you too."

"Gonna go down to the truck for the line and let Cody out so me and you can take a nap before we go for the girls. Sound good?"

"Pants Jay. We have neighbors now."

"Truck's in the garage remember," he said with a wink and she rolled her eyes. "King don't wear pants in his castle."

"I thought the farm was the castle your majesty," she teased, shaking her head.

"My urban estate then," he said with a shrug. "Either way, same rules apply."

Victory continued to shake her head as she went back to work while Jason disappeared into the house. The whole working thing didn't last long though. The novelty of him being there, seemingly happy, hadn't worn off yet. She had all but given up hope on the idea and all last week Victory found herself wondering if this new way of life was in fact real. Even now she pinched herself just to make sure as she listened to Jason's heavy footfalls and the playful barks from Cody as he trotted back and forth between the bedroom and the balcony.

"Hey there Manny. Still doing the Sunday morning chats I take it...no she ain't hiding out. I'm in Atlanta this weekend...The game was great. 7 to 4. Mo had four strike outs...Yeah I'm glad too. Tell the General I said hello," Jason said as he came back out onto the balcony to pass Vic her phone. "It's your dad."

"I heard," she said with a grin and grabbed his hand to pull him down for a quick kiss before she greeted her father. "Morning papi."

"So the nightmare's over," he asked immediately and Victory couldn't hold her giggle. That was all the answer her father needed. "Yeah, your mother still makes that noise on occasion. Nice to hear you got your shit together...made me twenty bucks richer too."

"I'm so glad you found my marital discord serious enough to bet on Papi. That's real nice."

"Don't I always tell you to bet on sure things Amor," he said and Victory could almost hear the raised eyebrow. "I knew all the players would get their shit together eventually."

"Well at least you had faith in us..."

"Always do...even when you don't. That's what makes me a good father." Victory rolled her eyes at that, even if it was true. As soft as her mother claimed he was on her, Victory always responded better to her father's gentle nudging than her mother's berating. "So I take it we'll be seeing more of you and my babies then?"

"That's the plan. With the girls schedule it's going to be more of the same but once school is out we'll definitely seeing more of South Range again."

Once that was settled, they went about their usual Sunday morning discourse. Sports. Sports. And more sports. Victory wasn't a fan of baseball but she made sure to keep herself abreast of all things Yankees for her talks with her father. He prodded her for inside information, which he knew he would turn into betting tips but she didn't mind. Then they argued about soccer for a few minutes before he all but hung up on her for her allegiance to Real Madrid. But every conversation always ended the same, with him telling her how proud he was and how much he loved her. Victory always hung up feeling worlds better than she had when she picked up the phone, no matter the situation and now was no different. It was her father's love that kept her sane when her world seemed to be crashing down around her, his faith that she would pick everything up again. And as content as she was at the moment she still needed those words to validate that she was in fact doing the right thing.

Jason had other plans. His wife was a good woman. Strong, independent, intelligent, caring. But he'd be lying if he said that's what struck those initial feelings of intimacy for her. She'd always been those things, even when they were kids playing kickball at recess, and yes they were endearing qualities for a life partner but Jason was a visual type of guy. Sure he loved talking to her but he still found himself glancing down at her cleavage. Checking out her ass whenever she walked away. And as good a woman she was, Victory didn't have a problem doing bad things to please him. That's what made her a great wife. There were blowjobs at halftime and quuickies between shifts. He never joined in with the guys at work when the complained about only recieving special treatment on the holidays. As far as Jason was concerned, every time with Victory was like his birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years all rolled into one. With the girls out of the house, he planned to take full advantage.

While Victory was on the phone, Jason only listened long enough to know that he wasn't a topic of conversation. The fact that she stayed in English was a good sign so he went on about the business of setting up the swing. He didn't go through the hassle of drilling holes in the ceiling to wait and once that was done, Jason found the rest of the pink boxes Victory stashed in the closet. He pushed aside the crotchless panties, cupless camisoles, and chemises in search of the vibrating cock ring they used on occasion but it wasn't there. It wasn't until he got to the bottom of the box that he realized he put like with like when he packed those boxes almost nine months ago. All he toys were in the smaller box and it rattled when he scooped it into his lap to rest on his growing erection. A grin made it's way slowly to his face as he pulled it open to find all the marital aids they bought in an effort to maintain the spice in the bedroom. He took out a few things and set them out on the bed before he escorted Cody outside. Of course he whimpered but Jason was in no mood for his begging.

"Sorry buddy but Daddy need Mommy alone for a while," he said as he trotted down the stairs and led Cody out the back door.

Jason was sprinting up the stairs as Victory came back inside with the tray in her hands. Her eyes shifted between the assortment of toys, the swing, and the tent in his boxer breifs before they settled on his. "It's barely 8 am Jay," she said with a snort, even as she set the tray down on the dresser. "You didn't get enough of me last night?"

"When have I ever had enough of you Vic," he said with a grin as watched her drop her robe and t-shirt before sitting on the edge of the bed in just her panties. Her hair was still in the messy bun she slept in but to Jason she couldn't be more beautiful as she surveyed the array of toys. "I just figured we could have a little more fun before the hellions come home...for old times sake," he said, sitting down beside her, and Victory rolled her eyes. "Come on Vic, tell me you don't miss dangling from the ceiling while I pounded that tight little ass of yours," he mused, reaching out to grab her thigh but Victory moved away before he could make contact.

"Sounds like you want a visit from Tory Tiznado," Victory said of her smutty alter-ego. It was the persona she invented sometime after the girls were born to help seperate the mother from the lover in her. The shift in her perspective happened so fast that Victory didn't have a chance to ease her way into the idea of being a mother. One minute they were newlyweds, the next they were setting up a nursery. He never said anything but Victory felt bad for how she neglected him. He was a good man, and a better husband, and she never wanted him to feel like he had to put his needs on the back burner. So one night while Jay was on secnd shift, she shipped the girls off to her parents and stopped by an adult bookstore to pick up a few things to entertain her husband. Her first body stocking, a pair of sky high clear heels, and couple vibrators. She made him dinner too but he wasn't much interested in eating once he came home to find her strutting around the kitchen.

"Only of she's interested..."

"Oh she definitely interested," Victory said with a grin as she stepped in front of her husband. With her back to him, she bent at the waist. Her legs straight as she touched the ground. "Ayúdame papi. Let me put on a show for you," she said with a wink and Jason obliged her, pulling her panties down to her ankles so she could step out of them. "Come on baby I need a little more than that," she said, looking back at him over her shoulder with a grin. Jason returned it then licked his fingers before delivering a hard swat to her ass and Victory squealed with delight. "Another one," she moaned and of course he obliged her.

With that, it was on. Victory grabbed the vibrator, lube, and string of anal beads before she strutted the few steps to the swing. With the catch ring between her teeth, she grabbed the swing's support straps and lifted herself up high enough to slip her feet into the stirrups. All the aerial yoga she'd been doing with the girls helped her make the needed adjustments with her hands full and she settled facing her grinning husband, her legs spread wide.

"I had planned to do this while we video chatted but I got sidetracked just talking to you," she said as she dripped a generous amount of the vanilla scented lube on her spread sex. Victory used her hands to smear it across both holes before she ran the vibrator across her clit. Jason let out a grunt as she made contact and the tent in his boxers bounced ever so slightly. "I just missed talking to you so much Blue Jay...hearing your laugh...the way you make me smile," she said quietly, even though she knew he wasn't listening. His eyes light eyes locked with the beads as she slowly pushed them into her well slicked ass. Her legs began to shake as beads grew thicker and with each push she let out a long contented moan. "And I missed doing all these dirty little things for you Blue Jay. Missed the way you make me scream your name over and over again," she whispered as she slipped her first two fingers in her pussy.

There was no more talking now. With her barely used ass filled with silicon beads, two fingers scissoring knuckles deep inside her, and the rabbit vibrator firmly on her clit, Victory couldn't make words anymore. Her head thrown back, eyes closed, she couldn't see the way Jason watched her. His tongue coming out to wet his lips as he stroked his cock in rhythm with his wife's hands. Watching her touch herself had always been better than any porn he could buy. Everything Victory did was just for him, for his viewing pleasure. Granted she wasn't the type to do anything that she didn't want to but still, she didn't have to let him watch. She didn't have to perform, edging herself until she squirted and sucking her fingers clean. The things she did for him were things she did alone but it was so much better when she could open her eyes and see him sitting there. His boxers down around his ankles as he fisted his thick cock.

"Vic is hot but my god Tory...such a dirty dirty girl. I fuckin' love it baby," he muttered as he stood. Jason kicked his boxers away and sauntered over to his wife, his cock dripping leading the way. He grabbed her ankle and spun her so that her head lined up perfectly with his cock, and like the good slut she was at the moment, Victory opened her mouth wide for him. And of course he obliged her. One hand in her hair, the other on her breast to steady her, Jason eased his cock into his wife's mouth, gently pushing into the back of her throat until she gagged. "Come on be a good girl and open up for Daddy. I know you can do it baby," he groaned as he pulled back until just the tip was on her lips, slowly caressing her body.

Of course she could. It wouldn't have been the first time he fed her his cock and now that they were back together, it wouldn't be the last.

When people get married it’s often said that you had to keep up with your sex life or you’d fall into a routine that didn’t include any of the previous fun you enjoyed. In the beginning without cable that’s all they had for fun they’d joke. When the other girls they loved came into their lives it was like they were dating again. They had sex in the car, the woods, and even at the in-law’s place when they were supposed to just be watering the plants and checking the house. When they did get the farm they were in bliss enjoying the house and being naked outdoors off the road allowed them the opportunity to enjoy sex outdoors with a shower and bed close.

The day Victory called him and he rushed home worried he found Victory sitting in the kitchen with all the cigarettes and booze in the trash can. He wasn’t sure what to make of it until she pointed to the six positive home pregnancy tests. She looked at him concerned, but he was excited and embraced her. While he comforted her on this mind was how much this would change everything, and while it was selfish he did think about sex. The pregnancy though brought some wonderful times in their intimate life, and the changes were enjoyed.

Victory got tired more so they looked as it as time to cuddle and enjoy massages. When she did have energy they had their fun, and as her belly grew she appreciated the love and attention. The nude pregnant photos were part of letting her no how much he loved her as a woman in every stage of life. Fact was he had a set of photos in attached frames of Victory nude at age twenty-one, on their wedding night, and several others through the years including her eight months pregnant. Over twenty years he stilled liked seeing the woman naked and a few extra pounds and the changes that came with aging didn’t change any of that.

That was probably part of the tension that had grown in the house, and whatever was happening between them affected the girls. Not telling Victory her hair looked nice, letting the other shower alone rather than step in, and acting like sex was part of the routine was almost as bad as not having it at all. They made excuses like needing to get up early or the girls were just down the hallway. In the past they’d just be tired the next day or ship the kids off to their grandparents for a long weekend. Tory Tiznado hadn’t visited at least for a year before that morning in the new house with the sex swing.

Tory Tiznado was Victory’s fantasy escape from being a wife and mother. Jason thought becoming her was Victory’s license to be slutty and sexy even if it was still just with her husband. Hey every good girl had a bad girl inside dying to get out, but few knew how to safely exercise those feelings. Victory would never go into an adult book store, she’d never strut around in impossibly high heels, and she’d never flirt with sailors but Tory would. Tory was born or rather porned during the couple’s trip to New Orleans. With a pair of hot pink high heels and a cheap blond wig Victory became the trashy sex kitten.

The whole thing started innocently enough though when the couple was selected by the local American Farmer’s Association to go to their annual convention. The conference was all about farming which would normally bore Victory to tears and put him to sleep was being held in New Orleans for a change, so with their little girls entrusted to the grandparents they headed down to the Big Easy. As soon as they got done with the required meetings and lectures they hit the town, but they were out of practice. They went to a few bars but only drank moderately; they enjoyed eating out, and were back to the hotel at a responsible hour to call the girls. Yes they were having fun, but they weren’t having fun like a childless couple in one of the funnest cities on the planet. So after a long talk they decided the last two days of the trip would be a party, and Victory was going to be someone more fun.

After an online search Victory found where most of the strip clubs were, and from there found a store where all the bad girls shopped. She took a roll of cash and told him to enjoy the hotel pool and headed out after breakfast. When they met up after lunch he was shocked at her change in appearance. She’d gotten a blond wig which fit perfectly, French tip nails, too much makeup and body glitter. Big hoop earrings, a gold chain with the word Love on it, and no wedding ring. Clad in only a pink lace body suit she kneeled on the bed and her opening line was you’re cute I’m Tory Tiznado do you want to fuck?

That afternoon they had some of the best sex they’d had in a long while, and Victory remained in character the whole time. Oral, anal, and spankings were just a few of the things they enjoyed together. She ran her sharp nails down his back and they made so much noise security was called She actually answered the door in a short little pink robe and apologized to the guard and said that her boyfriend just got out prison and it was their first time together in years. She said she’d try and keep it down and closed the door with confidence then walked over to him and dropped the robe and jumped on top of him. The cuddled up in a sweaty mess with lipstick marks all over his body.

When they wake up it was late, but certainly no reason not to go out so they dressed for the evening. That was the first time she wore the pink high heels along with a cheap leather jacket and little black dress. There routine changed though with him calling the girls and giving them mommy’s love since she wasn’t there that night. They walked to the bar with her strutting her stuff the whole way, and they didn’t drink moderately that night. They drank several different beers, and did shots to wash down an herbal aphrodisiac she’d picked up earlier. She took off her thong in the ladies room, and they headed out the back of the bar to a small garden area where people smoked. They took advantage of the fact that they were alone, so he bent her over and took her warm wet kitty again.

The walk to the small creole restaurant nearby was lengthened because they kept stopping to kiss, flirt, and grope each other. With the afterglow of sex on them they sat down for a wonderful meal in a place few tourists had been which a hotel staffer had recommended. When asked if they were married Tory perked up and said no, but that was their next order of business when they got to Las Vegas. After a large meal the story got them a big slice of pecan pie with ice cream and two spoons. They fed each other and made a mess of things before heading out into the night.

They finished off the night in small blues club that doubled as a Go-Go joint where women in bikinis swung from poles in array of blinking lights as a band jammed away. When asked for ID Victory even had a fake one for Tory who was the age of how she felt inside. She even bought him a lap dance and flirted with the girls who liked her style. They made it back to the hotel as the sun was coming up and just stayed up for breakfast and went to bed after a long hot shower. The next night was more of the same, and they barely caught their plane home. By the time they landed in Atlanta they were back to their old responsible selves. They had fun after that, but whenever Tory came out to play things were always hot and dirty.

Today was no different as the lovely Tory though dressed down was totally sexed up and sucking on his cock while suspended from the sex swing. Her lovely soft cherry lip gloss lips slid over his shaft as she took him in her mouth. He only felt her lips and tongue as he caressed her lovely dark hair and listened to the slurping sound that could only be described as naughty. She reached out and held on to his butt cheeks to steady herself, but she still caressed them as she sucked on his now very firm member. She slowly let his hard cock come out of her mouth and he could feel her hot breath on his stomach and thighs as she looked up wantonly.
He caressed her face and said, “Baby while you’ve got me nice and hard this morning I want to do something we haven’t done in a long time. I think you know what I mean. Are you up for it?”

She purred happily suspended from the sex swing and nodded and replied, “I’m always willing baby and I got nice and clean for you so we could get dirty.”

“Okay than less talk more action,” he said as he turned her around spinning with the said of the attached piece to the hook and when her ass was close he kissed each cheek and slowly licked her from thigh to back. She let out a sensual moan and he moved behind her gently caressing her star before lining up his cock. He gently pushed it against her flesh and while it wasn’t as welcoming as her vagina he continued to push as her moans slowly grew louder as he pushed inside her slowly but firmly. Over all the years he knew the difference between passion and pain, and he was sure along with cleaning herself that much more she also had used one of her toys. She willingly accepted him in her forbidden hole, and he began rhythmically rocking in and out as he smelled the lube and sweat.

The rocking back and forth was made even easier by the swing and with Victory above the bed she didn’t have to worry about grinning against anything. He kept asking if he was hurting her but she would only moan out no’s as well as sighing and grunting. This was one thing Victory hadn’t done with another man so he was determined to make every experience special. It was probably their third wedding anniversary that they tried it for the first time. She was dressed as a trashy bride and they did it in front of a full length mirror in their old apartment. There were other times to be sure, but another time was during the pregnancy. It just felt pervy to do so one night on the bed with plenty of pillows they had a lustful night.

Between the memories and tightness Jason didn’t last very long or at least any more than average and he shot his warm load inside of Victory which made her scream out. Before that though he’d reached around and played with her clit which made her moan and groan. The buildup was intense and it was hard to know who came first or who came because of the other but as Jason withdrew from her he felt satisfied and the feeling that all was right with the world came over him. Victory moaned satisfied and slid out of her bonds and fell down on to the bed before putting her head on his chest.

The both panted for a few long moments before Victory lifted up her head and began kissing down his chest and reached down and began caressing his member. In her soft but strong pedicured fingers glided down his thigh and he smiled softly before sitting up. He reversed things around and put her on her back with her head facing the bathroom and as he kissed her soft lips he went back to caressing clitoris. Victory shifted in the bed and moan and then squirmed, and he kept going until he heard the familiar sounds of her orgasming and the soft sigh. She sat up and gestured for her to come over to her, so he sat up and they began kissing softly.
She whispered into his ear sensually,

“Had enough of the bad girl for the morning because the twin’s mama needs to start getting the day going.”

He nuzzled with her and whispered back, “Yeah we need to clean up a little bit, but can we try something a little different?”

“Like what honey?”

Victory soon sat on the little stool she had in the bathroom for when she wanted to put her leg up and shave her legs. Jason had gotten the water just right before kicking over to the shower massager which he used to wet her body down and now with her liquid soap and loofah was getting her soapy all over. She giggled and reached back and touched his hand.

“So this is what you meant by Japanese style honey. Well we did do this before if you remember right.”

“I don’t think so I remember seeing this only recently.”
“You were watching foreign smut without me?”

“It was an art film and it looked very sensual. What are you thinking of hun?”

She snorted and pushed back against his thighs feeling her hair brush his cock and smiled and said, “Whatever but you did this for me when I was pregnant especially toward the end. You’d take a shower with me first washing me and then clothes the drain so I could relax in a nice hot bath. You brought me tea and cookies too while you rubbed my feet.”

“Well that wasn’t being sensual that was...”

She interrupted him and squeezed his hand and said, “It was wonderful, and it made me feel so good. Only downside was I was cold until you got the bath full but it was wonderful. You made me feel sexy when my belly was fat, my tits were huge, and my bush unkempt. You still loved touching me and that well meant so much.”

“Honey that was just because I love you and you’re always beautiful.”

Victory choked back a few tears and whispered softly, “there you go again.”

After Victory was thorough clean, she tried to get Jason to switch positions with her but he would have no parts of it and effectively kicked her out of the walk-in shower. She didn't leave the bathroom though, just sat on the edge of the tub with her hair wrapped in a towel and slathered on her homemade body butter. Not having a life in Atlanta for a year allowed her to explore various home based hobbies and she found the DIY beauty product was the best fit for her. It was something that she and the girls could do together. Plus playing pretend spa with the girls every other weekend helped reduce their collective stress. Victory would light candles in the bathroom and they'd take turns giving each other mani-pedi's and massages with products they made themselves. It was a fun activity that allowed the girls to forget she was their mother for a moment and share little bits of their lives. She would in turn tell them stories of her life before they came into this world, stories that often included their father. And Victory didn't shy away from those. Even though they were apart, she always appreciated the part he played in the person she had become.

By the time Jason was getting out of the shower, Victory was in front of the vanity brushing her teeth. Despite the double sink, he joined her on her side. He just wanted to be close to her and she didn't mind. Not even when he mistimed his spit and splashed her arm with his frothy mess. It wasn't the first time and they laughed as he wiped it clean with a wash cloth before he planted a kiss on the back of her neck and left her to finish up.

"We have to stop at the market after we get the girls," she called out to him and smirked at his answering groan. Yes, they were back to normal. "Well if you want me to make that potato salad that makes you moan then I need to pick up a few things..."

"Like real mayo...I hate that fat free crap."

"Among other things," she said, spraying a little coconut oil on her curly brown tresses before running a brush through them. To cut down on time, Victory opted to skip the blow dryer, keeping her hair in it's natural state. She tied on a scarf and threw it up in a messy bun rockabilly style before she headed back into the bedroom to find Jason full dressed, except his boots, stretched out on the bed. The swing was in a mess on the floor and she shift her eyes at it then back to him. Another grumble but he got up to put it all back in the box. The toys she dropped in the bathroom sink and sprayed them down with the special cleaner they got online. While she dressed, Jason busied himself with the dragons and she had to admit they did look pretty cool above the bed.

"Maybe we could stop at the Depot and get some of those LED lanterns to light it up," he said standing on the bed with his hands on his hips. It was his "mission accomplished" stance and Victory teased him for it often, but not this time.

"That would be nice," she said instead as she stepped into a pair of lace-up floral printed wedges. With pair of dark denim high waisted pedal pushers and white short sleeved crop top that showed minimal midriff, Victory looked every bit the country girl Jason fell in love with all those years ago.

"Ewwwie ain't you good lookin'," he said with an exaggerated drawn and Victory rolled her eyes. "Reminds me of our first date," he said with a grin that made her blush.

"We went muddin' on our first date. I doubt I wore anything like this."

"No you wore cut off overalls and a bikini top but your hair was up like that...and those big ass earrings with your name in 'em that I know Brian gave you," he said with a raised eyebrow, making her giggle as she put her arms around his middle.

"Ain't stop you from trying to get me drunk off your uncle shine so you could get in my pants."

"Be honest Vic," he said with a smirk and Victory rolled her eyes, knowing what was coming. "I was getting in them overalls with or without that shine."

"Well duh. You think I really forgot to put on my bottoms Jay?"

"I forgot about that," he groaned and grabbed a healthy handful of her ass, lifting her a little for a quick kiss. "Still just as hot as you were then Mrs. Smith."

"Why thank you Deputy," she said blushing as she pulled away. "Aight babe we gotta get going or we'll never leave."

After letting Cody back in the house and some debate over which truck to take, Jason climbed into the driver's seat in Victory's hybrid. The GPS would help him learn his way around she told him and he gave in with a grunt. He didn't need the GPS to get back to the Farley's, instead turned on the classic rock station to cruise like they used to with their fingers laced together. Of course, that didn't last. Victory hadn't abided the "driver's radio" rule since they made things official, much to Jason's chagrin, but it was small price to pay to have her riding shotgun again.

https://youtu.be/9Z55sZ2oVY4

She sang along to every song, whether she knew the words or not with Jason shaking his head the whole time. He put the windows up at one point so passing cars couldn't hear her terrible voice, but that didn't stop people from glancing in her direction when they were at traffic lights. Despite the way he hid his face, Victory's lack of shame had always been her biggest draw. She had always been unapologetically herself and he loved that about her. If she wanted to do something, she did it, even if that meant leaving him alone in the house they built together. But she wasn't leaving him, and for that Jason was thankful.

When they pulled up in front of the Farley's, Victory jumped out to collect their hellions while Jason waited in the truck. There were other parents as well and he waved at Adam Vance as he trotted up the stairs behind Victory. Part of him wondered if the man had waited for her to arrive before getting out of his car but he shook the thought away with Victory's words playing in his mind.

"Be nice Jay," he mumbled under his breath as he watched Adam greet his wife with a half hug. From the looks of it, he wanted the real thing but Victory pulled back from the embrace with a laugh. "Swing and a miss," Jason said with a snort, pleased with himself.

Inside the two-story townhouse, Erin Farley was helping the girls round up their things while her husband made coffee for the waiting parents. Victory declined but she did snag one of the cookies he said the girls made the night before. She wondered just how much sleep occurred the night before listening to the chorus of yawns and tired giggles as Ramona and Lee made their way upstairs from the basement.

"Where's Dad?" came from both girls. Lee narrowed her eyes at her mother and Mo sported a frown, eyes already watering.

"He's in the car, jeez! No hi mom how are you? We missed you," she said with a smirk and both girls wrapped their arms around her. She gave them both a quick peck on the head before ushering them outside, shouting goodbyes over their shoulders. "We gotta make a few stops..."

"Awww come on Mom," Lee shouted and Ramona gave her a quick shove. "What?!"

"Shut up..."

"You're just as tired as I am..."

"Shut up Lee..."

"You hate the farmer's market as much as I do Mo so you shut up..."

"I do not!"

"Do too!"

"Alright that's enough," Jason said, his "dad" tone in full use as the girls loaded into the back seat. "You listen and listen good. I don't want to hear anything but how much you love each other for the rest of the day. It was you're idea to have a family day Lee so that's what we're going to do and you're going to love every minute. You hear?"

"I meant at home Dad. You dropped us off at like 6 and now it's noon, that's more than enough time to go to the market without us."

"Your mother and I had way more important things to do," Jason said with a grin at Victory that made her giggle. And the girl's make gagging noises in the backseat.

"Ewwww," they said in unison but Lee continued on her own.

"You guys are so gross," she said, earbuds poised to go in place but her mother was faster and snatched them away.

"Nope. Not today. You will be present at all times," Victory said, carefully winding them and sticking them in her purse before she held her hand out for Ramona's. "We haven't been together like this in a long time and I'll be damned if you two aren't here to enjoy it..."

"Or ruin it with your nonsense," Jason chimed in as he pulled out into traffic.

"Fine but somebody better get me one of those chocolate croissants..."

"Oh please Mom can we? Those things are like heaven in your mouth Daddy you're gonna love 'em..."

"They like melt in your mouth."

And with that common ground all was right with the world again. The girls spent the ride across town giving a full play by play of their sleepover and avoiding any details of their parents' night alone. Not that any were given, but the girls were old enough to recognize the way their mother giggled after a remark from their father meant something. By the time the Smiths got to the farmer's market, and the girls got their croissants, all animus had been forgotten and they moved through the aisles leisurely. Jason carried the basket like a good husband while Victory moved from one stand to another picking up fruits, veggies, and bread. They made lunch out of all the samples and headed over to Home Depot so Jason could pick up the lights for the bedroom. While they were there, the girls tag teamed him into buying supplies to build Cody a house like on the farm. Lee promised to help with the tool set they got her for her birthday the year before. And while she had no interest in swinging a hammer, Ramona offered to paint and they picked the same slate blue as the townhouse.

By the time they got the truck unloaded the girls were thoroughly pooped. Victory suggested they take a nap before dinner but of course they wanted no parts of that. "We're not babies," they said but Victory knew they were enjoying this family time as much as she was. Lee stuck close to Jay with the meat on the grill while Ramona stayed inside with Vic making sides. And Cody tired himself out running back and forth looking for scrapes. This was the life Victory pictured when she took the radio job. Sure Jason wouldn't be going back to South Range but as long as she got to hear him laughing in the backyard with Lee she could deal with it.

"Hey Mom."

"Hey Mo," Victory answered with a grin. They sat at the counter peeling potatoes, both barefoot and in aprons. The big pot was full of water on the stove and Ramona was working on the last one.

"Can I ask you something," she said without looking up and Victory took the potato from her. "How old were you when you went on your first date?"

"Well that depends. Like a real date, just me and a boy, I was 15. Ramona Lorraine did someone ask you out on a date," Victory asked quietly and they both leaned over the counter to make sure Jason was not in earshot. "That boy from school? With the moppy hair? What's his name? Bryce...Brian..."

"Brandon, Mom his name is Brandon and he's super sweet," she said, the color rising in her face and Victory found herself grinning at thought of her little girl growing up. "He's in eighth grade..."

"An eighth grader huh," Victory asked with a raised eyebrow, feigning concern. She'd already done her own due diligence. By all accounts Brandon Crawford was a good kid from a good family. A skater/hockey player who got good grades, was polite and mild mannered. The mother was in environmental law, the father was an engineer, and both were very active in the school. He had a brother at Tech and a sister in the National Honor Society. The kid came from good stock and Victory didn't mind her daughter dipping her toe in the dating water with him. But still she said, "I don't know about that Mo. What would happen on this date?"

"Well it wouldn't just be me and him," she said quickly and Vic had to bite her lip from smiling. "Emory says that us girls have to stick together so we were thinking a group of us girls could maybe meet up with him and his friends and go to a movie maybe?"

"Well group dates are a good start, that way if you find you don't really like him you aren't stuck with him..."

"Did you go on group dates with Daddy?"

"Yeah but that was after we were already together."

"With Uncle Danny and Auntie Carmen," she asked, getting back to the potatoes and Victory nodded. "So who was your first date with then?"

Victory laughed at that and opened her mouth to answer but Jason beat her to it. "That would have been your Uncle Brian," he said, his eyes narrowed at them standing in the doorway with his arms folded across his chest.

"That was the first time we went out just the two of us. We were doing the group date thing for a while before then..."

"She wore his jacket all through high school," Jason said with a grunt and Victory rolled her eyes.

"Just the last three years. Then the summer after my freshman year at Tech me and Daddy started dating..."

"So you only ever had two boyfriends," Lee asked, like she didn't believe her and Victory shrugged.

"Only two serious ones...and only one that mattered," she said with a wink at Jason before she shift her eyes back to Ramona who looked nervous now that her father was there. Victory put her hand over hers and smiled. "You're an intelligent, beautiful girl...both of you are and you've proven that you can stand up for yourselves. I can't see a reason why you can't be trusted to go out with a group of friends and have a good time."

"Well I can," Jason said with grunt as he yanked open the fridge, grabbed a beer, and stormed out. Both girls looked at him slacked jawed and tears welled in Ramona's eyes.

"Don't worry baby. I'll talk to him."
