Do stories posted in the Anal category typically get low readership?
I have posted a few over thebyears, but not recently.
My new story has quite low views, even for me.
is it because of the category?
or maybe just because it's a sequel...

Too bad, because i think that it is one of my better recent efforts.

Among my stories, anal are the most popular after BDSM.
My experience is that T&M is the least popular.
Grain of salt, I don't get that many reads anyway

Go take a look at the view numbers from the All Time Top Lists - those stories at the 4.84 cut-off, with more than a hundred votes. A random look at a few stories showed view counts between 10k and 110k. Couldn't be bothered doing any stats.

Looking at the popular list in Anal it varies but there are views there of 20k to 30k so it might be more the sequel effect than the category one, perhaps. I read it and really enjoyed it, even not having read the first part. One more proofreading pass might have caught a few more of those little errors that crept in but otherwise I liked it.

IIRC from 8Letters analysis a few years ago, Anal is a moderately popular category, at the high end of the middle range.

I have a 5 year old anal story that has 147,000 views. I leaned in hard on the fetishy aspects of it, which I think attracted readers.

Two considerations: It's chapter 2 of a series, so it's going to get fewer views than a standalone story would. Also, the anal chapter follows an Erotic Couplings chapter. You're switching categories, so it makes sense that you would lose some readers. Although, in this case, based on the early numbers it looks like the Anal chapter eventually will surpass the first Erotic Couplings chapter in views, because Anal is a more popular category than Erotic Couplings.

I am hoping that's the case.

If I sort by views, my #3 is an anal story. It's lesbian anal, but it's posted in the anal sex category. It's the same characters as Girl Friday, so readers who follow that series may account for some of the views. All of these stories have been around a while, which may also be the reason for the views.

Lots of views compared to most categories (except I/T), lots of votes (4x as many as BDSM or Fetish or GM), but they're also fussy about what they like, so there's more critical comments than I get anywhere else.

The first of my series I Say Ass, You Say Arse (Anal) is my fourth highest for views and second for favourites. Top for both is in I/T, the other higher views are a contest winner (BDSM) and a story Laurel put in Fetish over EC, which continues to get a trickle of views from people who increasingly dislike it - I suspect they find it via the interracial and Asian male tags.

First time anal is particularly popular.

I only have one in anal, posted 9/1/25 with 23,176 views.

I think Simon hit it. It's a chaptered story that category-hopped. Readers are a bit nonplussed about that. Trust me, I know.
