In days of yore
When spanks were more
On offer than the present,
The spanking class
Enjoyed my ass
Which was much more than pleasant...

In days of yore
I expect most are still around. Major libraries and archives do have collections and fonds that are a bit less than publicly available. And if you've ever wondered if the great artists painted nudes that were more naughty than classical, try the art museums' vaults for an eye-opening and eye-popping) answer.Brief review of this article rings to mind again the question of what and where did the great collections of porn from history, collections such once possessed by King Farouk, Herman Goering, etc. Were they destroyed, do they still exist and if so, can they be viewed? Just curious.
I think most is actually destroyed, American anyway. There were massive destructions of erotica in purges in the 20s of all times. The publications were a lot larger than the history that we've generally been told. There are a few accounts of this, if I find them again I'll post.I expect most are still around. Printed erotica that was destroyed didn't include all the copies. And there are those among us who refuse to let any works disappear. In 1965 or 66, the San Francisco police burned all the copies of Lenore Kandel's The Love Book that they had confiscated at City Lights bookstore. Want to see a copy of that first edition? It went out the back door as the cops came in the front, and it's on the poetry shelf in my library. I assure you, none of the erotic art in museum vaults and private collections is ever going to be intentionally destroyed, not even the "degenerate art" that the Nazi's "confiscated" in the 30s and 40s.I think most is actually destroyed, American anyway. In olden days
Agreed. We discussed that a bit here a while ago. While no pictures, the Victorian underground of The Pearl is quite the delightful read.
