Voiced Poetry thread

I would love to hear someone read this one. Thanks so ...

The Midway

The air is sweet enough to make your teeth
send hurtful messages along your jaw
right to the middle of your medulla
to dance a mambo on your cerebellum.

Breathe deep and dive deeper
slicing a wormhole through the syrup
that makes life cling to your skin
so that even blinking an eye
becomes a conscious effort.

A slow, sultry wink that sugars
every vision, each sound a candy
corn crunch and the sponge toffee
caramel a scent to remember.

Sly shills whistle a promised
seduction to the gambler hiding
inside teenaged psyches; eager
to turn the three dollar teddy
bear into a treasure, priceless.

It lounges on her frothy, cotton
candy bedspread to watch the swoon
written down on vellum pages
of her sweet sixteen dear diary

Today I kissed a boy who tasted
as good as toffee apples and funnel
cakes dusted with white powdered
sugar so thick that it paints my lips
with honey gloss and melon dew.

Wilson Cycle

I don't have recording capability right now, but would be interested in hearing this, which I think has some nice aural qualities:

Split spreads fluid floods
Surfaces slip and slide
Masses meet, now collide
thick slab thrusts in trench deep
folds flow, fluids seep
bodies bake, closely quake
future suture sure to endure
features glow, union heats
The cycle repeats

Title is drab, for sure.

I have not received any sound bytes. I want! Actually, I'm interested in how Champs got her voice posted here?

I am Canadian, my dear Annie. NOT American. There is a difference and it doesn't involve a boot! lol
you have them now? i hope so!

So this one was an interesting one to record.

and you and you and you.mp3 - 3.34MB
can't wait to listen to this and any others here i can open. no time right now - argh!

thankyou, foolio

I'm willing to read anybody's poetry (it's the show off in me) as long as it's not too long because if I stumble I have to start all over again! Be interesting to hear someone read mine too but would need to be sent as a wav or mp3, I've just this minute written something but it's a bit morbid lol or choose anything from the various titles in the list

bet you've got a sexy accent Tz :D

If you get Audacity software (free to download from net), it has a very easy to use edit feature. You don't have to start over. Just pause briefly, then restart the line. You can go back and edit it to remove the verbal stumble.

I would like to try my hand at reading a few poems. I used to write a ton of poetry when I was younger and would often read it aloud. :)

also there is a free download out there called tweakmp3 that will compress MP3 files. I use it on all of my stories. Takes the files from like 18 MG to 2 MB with no real loss of quality that I can tell.

I may need another shower after reading this one aloud...shudder

i have no idea why, but when i'm forwarding charley's file on to you other guys it keeps bouncing back to me, with the addy bearing 'yah.com' instead of 'yahoo'. perhaps, for the moment, charley can send them directly to you if you make sure she has your e-mail addresses.

and charley, if you've still not received the others' files i sent again, i haven't a clue what's occurring.

Since people seem to be excited about voiced poetry. Is there anyone interested in taking up my veiled challenge to create a poem entirely in your head, never written down, and then recite it for an audio?

I could hardly hear this one even with my speakers turned up full ..... had to strain my ears to hear The Fool kiss a boy :)

:) a pleasure to listen to, fool

it's a tricky one. without a mic, impossible :D for now, at least

as soon as i get a mic, i'll be happy to give some of your pieces a shot, or Annie's, or anyone's :)

i'll do all that mailing later, once i have my puter head on. still on my first coffee. morning all

That's what keeps me from doing it as well, lack of a mic. Although, this cam I set up for using Skype has a mic built into it, so maybe I could record some footage and see if the sound is usable. Hmm, will have to look into it.

The mic that I am using is on a Logitech headset that I have. It connects with USB to the computer rather than with the mic/speaker jacks. Works with skype and other various programs that I am semi-required to use.

*bows*

Thank you!

i really liked your pacing of mine - sort of how i intended it to be heard and read, i suppose, for the most part anyway :) you have a good reading voice. i sound better in my head than out loud :D
