Voting on your own stories?

I was just wondering, are you allowed to vote for your own stories? It seems kind of wrong to me, but I don't know if there is a mechanism to prevent it.

you can vote for your story once, just like everyone else can.

i don't think it's abuse until someone goes around on every computer they can find and votes for themselves

It's possible, but a bit pointless except to bump a story past ten votes to get it to show up on the top story lists where it can attract more votes a tiny bit sooner.
