Walker Paradise (OOC)

I was out of town, but I am back and ready to play, do we have others that want to join or is it just us few? I have my girls ready and we're ready to get into it with you guys.

It looks like it's just you, me, and stalzyn. So once you two post your characters and we decide on a general location for the story, we can start the IC. I guess I'll be the one to write it since chino seems to be MIA.

Excellent! I'll get my bios posted so we can begin whenever we're ready. Should we continue in this thread or start a new one since we've been abandoned by the OP?

Post your characters here. We'll use this thread as the OOC and then I'll start the IC soon. We should probably vote on where the story is taking place. Also in case you didn't know OOC stands for out if character and IC stands for in character.

I figured out IC and OOC after I posted that. That makes sense to do it like this. Do you have a suggestion as to where you think we should initially be located? I feelike it should depend on how long it's been since things have gone to hell. If it's fairly recent then I think perhaps in a suburb near a larger city, but not too close so that we will be able to scavenge what we need and meet up, however if it's been a few years then anywhere that a group of people could reasonably run into eachother would be good.

I was thinking we'd all be in one area. Like in and around a city or something. Then we'd all meet up somewhere. Another idea (which I saw in another zombie thread on here a while ago) is that everyone found a fort. So maybe my crazy redneck character could have built some kind of compound, or at least have a fortified farm house. For the actual location I was thinking somewhere in middle America, like Iowa or Kansas or somewhere around that area. As for the timeline I think someone said a couple years after. I think I'm just going to officially take over this thread lol. I'm going to write up a timeline/ backstory. But go ahead and post your characters on here.

April 2017: The Redal Pharmaceutical Company releases a cure for cancer

November 2017: users of the drugs report sickness

January 2018: reports of cannibalism begin to arise, but are dismissed

March 2018: the reports continue to increase at a rapid rate

September 2018: US government officially acknowledges the zombie threat

February 2019: after making little progress against the zombie threat the US government accepts help from The Redal Pharmaceutical Company who claim to have created a cure for the zombie plague

May 2019: Redal's "cure" increases the rate and efficiency of the zombie virus

October 2019: The zombies outnumber the humans

December 2019: US government stops it's war against the zombies due to being out numbered and retreats to defend the major cities

June 2022: present

So basically Redal releases the zombie plague and the government waits until its too late and it destroys the US. Europe isn't doing much better so they haven't helped us. The virus spreads through zombie bites, and through getting zombies goop (blood, spit, etc.) into your bloodstream (through eyes, ears, mouth, open wounds, etc). Once infected the human goes through fever, nausea, bleeding through eyes, ears, and mouth, then death. About three to five hours later the dead human comes back as a zombie. The zombies are slow moving and dumb; they're attracted to movement and loud noises. Animals aren't affected by the virus, just humans, although zombies will eat anything they can get there hands on, so most land animals are scarce. Birds, fish, and insects have taken little damage from the zombie hoards, as they are too hard to catch, or too small to be noticed.

So that's what we'll be dealing with (unless someone had anything to add or change). We're basically just trying to survive. We may try to get to a "safe city" if any actually exist. As for Redal I left their role in the plague ambiguous. Did they purposely start the plague, or are they the biggest fuck ups in human history? We don't know. So unless anyone has any questions or objectives, I'll start the IC tomorrow.

Love what you have done with the thread Othermoose, i had almost believed this would become another bump. Your timeline is a little far into the future. What i'm trying to say is 2022 will greet us with new modernised weapons, technologies etc. Lets keep it down a little, to make it more real to us.
That aside i think we should've a scientist (or more) in the group, a female preferably so we'll have a goal apart from survive, which is a possible cure.
Now to more important issue, let's not do the farm thing. Maybe something like a large clearing in the woods, where we find while fleeing and set up as our base. The place shouldn't be too far from the city and not too near, to make gathering supplies easy. The area will be blessed with a river, possibly a waterfall too, animals, etc. We together will develop this place, building walls around the base, upgrading from tents to maybe more. Surviving together. And killing any stray zombie that wander out of the city in search of food.

I'm in and I have several character ideas and plot points to add some goals for the group. I also have an idea for a hostile group of survivors that can make an appearance when we are comfortable with the direction the story is going.

Character 1
Name: Hiromi Takumy

Stats: 5'4" 100 Lbs, 32A-24-34 long black hair kept in a braid wrapped around her head. Straight, but may experiment if the right person is found.

History: She is a Japense daughter of one of the great sword making families of Japan. She learned to use the sword from a young age, and was also formally trained as a Gaisha, so she can easily and gracefully move without a sound. She came to America as a foreign exchange student, bringing her favorite Katana and Keiken, from home. She has no idea how to use a gun, and has no desire to learn. She was on the college fencing team, when attacked by the undead, and was able to fight her way out, with several others.

They worked together to survive. One of the Guys had been an Eagle scout and know everything about wilderness survival and kept the group feed. Hiromi trained the group with edged weapons helping to keep them safe. Then one of their group was bit and told no one. Screams in the middle of the night woke her and she fled not knowing if anyone else got away.

Gear: Pair Jeans and tank top, Leather jacket. Katana and Keiken. Camel back for water, sturdy pair of leather hiking boots that are well worn. Small first aid kit, some venison & squirrel jerky in her pockets. and one mylar emergency blanket.

Survival Skills: Expert with edged weapons, ability to move silently athrough any terrain, baaisc knowledge of wilderness survival, skilled in martial arts

Weakness: Petrified of guns, she is a follower not a leader, and can't survive on her own, emotionally distraught after losing her whole group within the last 24 hours, Often puts herself in risky situations counting on her blades to protect her.

Character 2
Name: Mick Daily

Stats: 6'4" 225 Lbs, close cropped light brown hair. Most assuredly straight.

History: US Navy SEAL Lt. his team was on a mission to transport some scientists from their locations to top secret secure Gov't facilities to work on a cure. His team was attacked one night and all the scientists were lost. When the team arrived at their destination, it had been overrun and destroyed. He was able to salvage some weapons and ammo and then he started heading to his hometown to see what happened to his family. His team had been taken down one by one, leaving him as the only survivor. He found an abondoned farm and caught a mule and harnessed it to a car that he pulled the engine from and loaded with the supples he had been carrying in a wheel barrow.

Gear: Navy issue blue camo uniform, extremely dirty and torn up, Navy issue jujmp boots. Gold BUD/s emblem and Jump wings, M1911A1 Colt .45, with 200 rounds, JAR1 Sniper rifle with scope (he took from a secret service amoroy) 50 rounds, HK MP5 with 2k rounds. One mule pulling a VW bug like a wagon carrying most of his gear. Some MRE's, tents, and other survival gear.

Survival Skills: Expert in wilderness survival, armed and unarmed combat, stealth, and knows how to fly aircraft. Very mechanically inclined.

Weakness: Arrogant, and aggressive. Feels he doesn't need anyone, and that anyone who's not a SEAL is useless. Over confident in his abilities, believes he should be in charge at all times.

Name: Stallion Hopper
Age: 29
Description: 6'1 with short blonde hair and chiseled body frame of a blacksmith.
History: Stallion was a former marine in the army and then a secret international agent on a top government military operation. After accomplishing his tasks in Russia the 29yrs old Lt returned home, eight days later, the infection started. Stallion lost his wife and six year old daughter to the virus.
Now hardened (having killed his zombified family) he went on a killing spree, out to dish vengeance to all zombies and ultimately the cause of the virus. He's a survivor, a man of his own.
Gear: Black Jute pants, grey tight-fitting cashmere and black leather boots. A bagpack containing three canned foods, two snacks, an old travelling jug and some first aid tools.
Weapon: the 5.56mm FAMAS with night/day video sight rifle (12 rounds and a magazine left) and an auto benchmade knife.

I don't think 2022 is too far in the future. That's seven years from now. And not much new tech would have been invented because of the zombies. As for finding a cure, I'm fine with that. If someone wants to take up as a scientist, feel free, but I think our main priority should be not dying. As for us moving into a field, and I really really really really don't want to sound like a dick right now, but that seems like a pretty bad idea. Why would we go into a field and build from scratch when we could fortify an already standing building? It doesn't necessarily have to be a farm house, but any building would be better than a tent in a field. Not to mention the sound of us building would attract zombies. If I was building a wall and I saw a zombie coming I'd rather hide in a house than a tent. If everyone disagrees with me, then we can do the tent thing, but it just seems like a bad idea to me. Again I'm not trying to single you out stalzyn, that just doesn't seem like it would work.

Also, welcome to the team ldy_sea. It's good that we have more people. I'm going to work on my crazy guy and post him soon, my other character is on page two in case anyone missed him.

While I agree that living in a building is better than a tent, buildings tend to be in or near population centers, which do offer advantages like

* places to scavenge for supplies
* shelter
* possibility of meeting friendly survivors
* materials to fortify our chosen base of operations
* materials for building barricades blocking zombie egress (which could also
hinder our escape if we need to flee)

But there are also disadvantages like

* possibility of hostile survivors
* more reanimated corpses in the vicinity
* more disease bearing rodents feasting on unmoving corpses
* limited lines of sight due to buildings cars etc...
* limits to where you can place containers to collect rainwater
* limited areas to plant crops
* fewer escape routes due to fences, walls etc...
* less game to hunt
* less fishing opportunities
* less likely to have potable fresh water located nearby (Lakes and Streams)
* less opportunites for setting anti zombie traps (Punji sticks and the like)
* Fires for cooking and warmth could be devestating

That being said, I will work with whatever the group decides.

Personally if a zombie apocalyose ever does happen, I'm heading to the woods, near a lake, with a bunch of pallets to be the base of an Ewok style tree community. Start with tents and hammocks and slowly and quietly build wooden buildings to act as shelter etc...

That's why I said farm. It would be close enough to a town (maybe half an hour walk?) that we could go on scavenger runs, but far enough that it wouldn't be a zombie breeding ground. I figured my crazy redneck character could've been living there and preparing it for an apocalypse situation for years, so there'd be no evil survivors (besides him) or zombies running around the farm. He'd already have built the basic survival stuff and traps, but the group could always improve and add to them. He'd have animals and crops so food wouldn't be a huge issue. There could also be a small pond or maybe a river on or near the farm for water. Or maybe a well. So I figured the group could meet up and find crazy redneck's farm, where he'd let them in (because of the ladies in the group) he'd then try to kill all the guys and enslave all the girls to "repopulate". At the point he can either be killed off or he can escape and continue to hassle the group. Again that's just my idea, to me it seems like a good chapter one for us. Sorry if I'm acting like a control freak, I'm not the greatest leader lol. And in an actual zombie apocalypse I'd be dead on day one lol.

ONe thing I never see done in any zombie or post apocalyptic movie, book, show RP etc... is use of Diesel powered vehicles. Most people don't know that you can pour pretty much any kind of oil into a diesel and it will run (It's called Bio Diesel).

The onnly downside is that all rubber hoses will need to be replaced with plastic, or they will eventually fail. Besides Diesel vehicles are usually bigger and can hold more people and supplies, and they are more powerful so a horde of Z's won't stop it as easily.

As for your idea. I like it. When will you post the initial post?

I know nothing about cars, so that's fine with me. I figured crazy redneck would have a big truck anyways.

As for the IC I'm going to wait for stalzyn and serendipity to give their thoughts and votes on my idea. Serendipity also needs to post her characters, but that won't affect my timetable. After they give their say I'll start the IC, so it will probably be up late tonight, or around this time tomorrow. I'll post a link here once it's up.

Name: Travis

Age: "I ain't a day over twenty!" (He's probably in his mid to late forties, but he doesn't know for sure)

Sexual orientation: straight

Physical description: Travis stands at 5'7". His exact skin tone is hard to see because it's usually covered in dirt, but he's white. He has a greasy dark brown mullet with a matching beard. At the rare times he removes his hat a bald spot is visible on his head. His teeth are yellowed and he has really bad breath. Even though there's enough clean water at the farm to bathe, Travis chooses not to, and has a very offensive odor.

History: "all ya need to know is that I got this here farm in workin' order. Ain't no zombies gettin' in here."

Due to his excessive drinking and drug use, Travis doesn't remember much of his past. He knows he's from Kentucky, that's about it. He moved to Iowa (for reasons unknown to him) and purchased a farm. Ever since he's been prepping for the end of the world.

Clothing: he wears a grimy flannel shirt and a pair of dirty blue jeans. He also wears a pair of worn work boots and a red baseball cap with a bear on the front.

Gear: he has a large armory on the farm and his weapons vary on his mood. He tends to favor a Bowie knife and a sawed-off double barrel shotgun, but usually carries additional weapons.

He has a large red pickup truck that runs on diesel fuel. It also has plastic fuel hoses. At his farm he has a black SUV that has the same modifications.

Just to inform you guys, I already hate Travis. A lot.

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could join in on this rp. I just so happen to be one of those crazy fools that has planned for a zombie apocalypse so this happens to be up my ally. I'll go ahead and post character bio here.

Name: Matthew McGinnis

Age: 25

Sexual Orientation: Straight

History: Before shit hit the fan Matt was a cook by trade, and a damn good one. And, like damn near all cooks, had a few odd quirks about him, like making plans for various apocalyptic scenarios in his mind at work even though he knew they'd never happen. Surprise, right?

Physical description: He's a out average hieght, standing at 5ft.9in. and average build, maybe just slightly on the chunkier side of average. Brown eyes and shoulder length black hair, dark tan skin, he's obviously got some native American heritage.

Clothes: Whatever he can find but he prefers heavy, thick clothes for protection when he can wear it comfortably.

Gear: A large buck knife, 2 hatchets, a .40 semi-auto pistol, 1 large box .40 ammo, backpack with various dry and canned food stuffs. Edit: a 10in. French knife, a utility knife, and a boning knife (because he's a professional cook and he's not giving that shit up, apocalypse or no...)

Survival skills: Before everything happened he was an avid camper, survivalist, and hunter so he has very rudimentary first-aid skills, can build a fire, knows a few types of plants that'll make you sick and a few others you can eat, knows how to build temporary shelter. He was also an avid gun enthusiast and learned quite about firearms and crude explosives from a friend who was a gunsmith.

Let's see...I think that's all...look good?

I was a little angry at first Othermoose, that this thread was started without me, but after going through it. It's perfect.
I'm introducing my secondary character, the first was Stallion Hopper, this is Williams Hedge - the scientist.
Name: Williams Hedge
Age: 26
Description: short black hair, green eyes, a nerdy look with large goggles, 6'0 and a sinewy body.
History: a student of anatomy and physiology of living things and a genius when it comes to adaptation, Will was called by the government to work on a cure with some other scientists. His theory was rejected and was dismissed from the operation. He now struggles to find a cure alone, if not a cure then a vaccine, and if not then a preservator.
Gear: blue long sleeve shirt, white pants turned grey and blue sneakers.
A briefcase containing his lab results and experiments, and a couple of lab equipments.
Weapon: a small pistol that's left with one round, meant for his head when he's bitten. And a baseball bat.

Sorry. We had a bunch of people and it felt like a good time to start. I'm glad you've joined us though :)
