I was out of town, but I am back and ready to play, do we have others that want to join or is it just us few? I have my girls ready and we're ready to get into it with you guys.

Excellent! I'll get my bios posted so we can begin whenever we're ready. Should we continue in this thread or start a new one since we've been abandoned by the OP?
I figured out IC and OOC after I posted that. That makes sense to do it like this. Do you have a suggestion as to where you think we should initially be located? I feelike it should depend on how long it's been since things have gone to hell. If it's fairly recent then I think perhaps in a suburb near a larger city, but not too close so that we will be able to scavenge what we need and meet up, however if it's been a few years then anywhere that a group of people could reasonably run into eachother would be good.
I don't think 2022 is too far in the future. That's seven years from now. And not much new tech would have been invented because of the zombies. As for finding a cure, I'm fine with that. If someone wants to take up as a scientist, feel free, but I think our main priority should be not dying. As for us moving into a field, and I really really really really don't want to sound like a dick right now, but that seems like a pretty bad idea. Why would we go into a field and build from scratch when we could fortify an already standing building? It doesn't necessarily have to be a farm house, but any building would be better than a tent in a field. Not to mention the sound of us building would attract zombies. If I was building a wall and I saw a zombie coming I'd rather hide in a house than a tent. If everyone disagrees with me, then we can do the tent thing, but it just seems like a bad idea to me. Again I'm not trying to single you out stalzyn, that just doesn't seem like it would work.
Also, welcome to the team ldy_sea. It's good that we have more people. I'm going to work on my crazy guy and post him soon, my other character is on page two in case anyone missed him.
While I agree that living in a building is better than a tent, buildings tend to be in or near population centers, which do offer advantages like
* places to scavenge for supplies
* shelter
* possibility of meeting friendly survivors
* materials to fortify our chosen base of operations
* materials for building barricades blocking zombie egress (which could also
hinder our escape if we need to flee)
But there are also disadvantages like
* possibility of hostile survivors
* more reanimated corpses in the vicinity
* more disease bearing rodents feasting on unmoving corpses
* limited lines of sight due to buildings cars etc...
* limits to where you can place containers to collect rainwater
* limited areas to plant crops
* fewer escape routes due to fences, walls etc...
* less game to hunt
* less fishing opportunities
* less likely to have potable fresh water located nearby (Lakes and Streams)
* less opportunites for setting anti zombie traps (Punji sticks and the like)
* Fires for cooking and warmth could be devestating
That being said, I will work with whatever the group decides.
Personally if a zombie apocalyose ever does happen, I'm heading to the woods, near a lake, with a bunch of pallets to be the base of an Ewok style tree community. Start with tents and hammocks and slowly and quietly build wooden buildings to act as shelter etc...
That's why I said farm. It would be close enough to a town (maybe half an hour walk?) that we could go on scavenger runs, but far enough that it wouldn't be a zombie breeding ground. I figured my crazy redneck character could've been living there and preparing it for an apocalypse situation for years, so there'd be no evil survivors (besides him) or zombies running around the farm. He'd already have built the basic survival stuff and traps, but the group could always improve and add to them. He'd have animals and crops so food wouldn't be a huge issue. There could also be a small pond or maybe a river on or near the farm for water. Or maybe a well. So I figured the group could meet up and find crazy redneck's farm, where he'd let them in (because of the ladies in the group) he'd then try to kill all the guys and enslave all the girls to "repopulate". At the point he can either be killed off or he can escape and continue to hassle the group. Again that's just my idea, to me it seems like a good chapter one for us. Sorry if I'm acting like a control freak, I'm not the greatest leader lol. And in an actual zombie apocalypse I'd be dead on day one lol.
ONe thing I never see done in any zombie or post apocalyptic movie, book, show RP etc... is use of Diesel powered vehicles. Most people don't know that you can pour pretty much any kind of oil into a diesel and it will run (It's called Bio Diesel).
The onnly downside is that all rubber hoses will need to be replaced with plastic, or they will eventually fail. Besides Diesel vehicles are usually bigger and can hold more people and supplies, and they are more powerful so a horde of Z's won't stop it as easily.
As for your idea. I like it. When will you post the initial post?
Had to edit one thing in his gear...'cause yeah...
Hey guys, I was wondering if I could join in on this rp. I just so happen to be one of those crazy fools that has planned for a zombie apocalypse so this happens to be up my ally. I'll go ahead and post character bio here.
