Were-Hunter Prowl: IC

"You are one lucky man, Jeff."

Jeff spared the healer a glance as he kept his eyes fixed on the huge plate of food that Stephan had brought up.

“Yes, well, at least I’m alive,” replied Jeff, picking up a large drumstick from the platter, and biting into it like a starving wolf, which was ironic, because he essentially is a starving wolf.

“So, doc,” said Jeff in between bites. “Just what the hell was that that nearly killed me?”

As Jeff ate, he kept an eye on the Drakos, watching for the slightest change in expression.

Greek Island of Sifnos, sometimes in the 1600’s

Centuries ago, there used to be untold resources on the Greek Island of Sifnos. Silver, and metals, and gold. Lots of precious gold, glistening in the light of their beloved patron god, Apollo. Each year, the villagers would gather round in a luminous feast for their God. They would present the Warrior-of-the-Sun with a golden egg, as big as his outstretched palm, and as bright as the eyes of an innocent child. Then one year, their resources were depleted. So the villagers tried to fool Apollo by presenting him with a gold-painted stone. Apollo sent them a tyrant that impoverished the island, and vowed that as long as they live, the villagers and all their offspring would never find freedom from invaders. Never find peace to raise their families. Never have long-lasting love.

There are two main cities on the island of Sifnos. Forever close, forever opposite. Apollonia, after its ancient patron god, was the capital and belonged to the humans. Artemonas, the old city, housed a Kattagari pack of tigers that had nested there for over 850 years.

Tonight, Artemonas was bathing in blood and despair. Xanthos Alexander Xenos was dead. She had killed him.

The Arcadian girl had killed him. Andreea. She had gone mad. It had been the will of the Gods and the Fates. The pack had watched her, every day since she had been born. Her, and the other two cubs. She was an abomination, a cruel punishment. Apollo had decreed it. They would never have freedom, never have peace. Unless they took it upon themselves to get it.

They had taken the white tiger – Soraya - in, although she was Arcadian, when the girl was barely 25. Abirad, the pack leader, had adopted her as his own daughter, had taught her how to survive and how to make peace with the beast inside her. Their animal hearts had loved her good heart and fierce nature, her protectiveness towards those whom she cared for.

Then one night, a half-dead man had collapsed on her doorstep. His clothes torn and bloody, his long hair tangled, his fingernails torn. He had a leather cord around his neck, dangling a gray piece of stone, with the name Alexander carved on it. He had no memories of who or what he was. They could smell it on him, though. Soraya had clothed him, cared for him, and given him a name – Xandros Xenos, “fair-heaired stranger”. She had fought with them to keep him in the village. And he had become their healer, their friend. In spite of who he was.

But then…By the Gods, the Fates were such bitches. They had mated them, and the Tigers knew it was just a matter of time before their peaceful lives turned miserable once more. Apollo was punishing them for taking him in, the cursed one. He was doomed to die, maybe in a year, maybe five, for who knew how old he really was? What would happen when the time would come? What would be his choice?

Andreea had killed her own father. Her mother - where was Soraya? Had she killed her, too? She had to die, they had to protect the rest of the pack.

“The delaney must be killed. She has gone mad. She is the child of our enemy, our doom. Slowly, each of the tigers took up a torch and started down the street towards Xandros’ house. Delaney! Delaney! Delaney! their chants echoed angrily towards the moonlit sky.

Andrei never made it to the bar as some woman came barreling into him. Kimi was hot on her heels. They both stared at the woman on the floor and the collar around her neck.

"Fucking hell. Andrei pick her up. Nikola keep the bar from exploding will you?" The underworld had obviously frozen over as she led the Arcadian upstairs but to her own private room.

"Who is she?"

"That is what I want to know." Those callers didn't get slapped on just anyone. Whoever had done this really wanted her dead, or at least to suffer long before they did. Kimi's bed dominated the room more than anything and Andrei set her on it while Kimi took her shoes off. "We might have to call Savitar in on this one," she ignored the look he gave her. "Unless one of you can take this thing off her, she's a walking target."

///Upstairs///

Stefan kept his face neutral, "Its a poison. Made to kill Arcadians mostly, how a damn Daimon found it is the real question. Worry about that later. For now you need to get better." He pushed Jeff back down when he saw the man start to rise, "Don't worry the others are fine. It seems only you were injured with the blade. Which makes no sense, unless they weren't sure it would work. Otherwise every blade should have been coated in it."

He really didn't want to explain why the poison had been developed or the fact that other than a skilled healer there was no other cure. It had only one job, to kill.

“It’s a poison. Made to kill Arcadians mostly, how a damn Daimon found it is the real question. Worry about that later. For now you need to get better. Don't worry the others are fine. It seems only you were injured with the blade. Which makes no sense, unless they weren't sure it would work. Otherwise every blade should have been coated in it."

Jeff kept his eyes on the healer as he ate, having cleared nearly a quarter of the huge platter while Stephan talked. After finishing a particularly large rib, Jeff paused in his eating.

“So, I hope this poison has a cure, one that is commonly known,” said Jeff, still looking the Drakos in the eye. “On the same note, how well known is this poison? Would our healer know of it?”

Jeff resumed his eating, still watching to see how the healer would react, looking for the slightest twitch of the eye or even fidgeting.

Delaney!...

Delaney screamed and sat up in bed, eyes big and terrified, like they had been that day. She was 12 years old again, huddled in a corner, in her nightgown, feet bare and covered in cuts and scrapes. She wiped at her wet cheeks and watched as tears mingled with blood on the back of her hand. A knife was lying a few inches away from her, and she nudged it with her big toe, in a trance.

Mitera…don’t leave me alone, mother… She didn’t remember, couldn’t remember. Where was her daddy? Why wasn’t he there with her? What had he said to her?

“Don’t, sweetheart, please don’t…” His voice, soothing and frightened at the same time, drifted into her memory. But where had he gone? Why had they all left her alone?

Daimons. She remembered Daimons, lots of them, attacking them. There was golden powder all over the floor. Daddy had fought with them.

. And then she…she had…What HAD she done? A noise outside had Andreea lifting her head to look out the window. In the moonlight, she could see them all touching the tip of glowing sticks to the edges of the house, to the tree where her swing was hung, to her brother Elijah’s toys scattered on the front porch.
NO!, she wanted to scream, but words were lodged into her bruised throat.
Delaney…Delaney…No, that was not her name, she tried to scream out through lungfulls of smoke. No, help me, Daddy, please….

And then she remembered. “Please, baby, don’t…” Daddy would never come back. I made Daddy go away. I’m a bad person, I’m a really bad person…

She was going to die. She started giggling madly. That was good. Maybe he would see Daddy again. Would he hate her? Would Mommy? The last thought she had before she lost consciousness was that she shouldn’t have been so cold. Her grandpa’s pack was setting her memories on fire. Then why was she shivering so badly?

Slowly, pain from the collar around her neck filtered through the memories. Pain was good. Pain kept those other feelings at bay. Kept her grounded. Focused.

Where the hell was she? This bed she was in seemed to take up the whole room. And where the hell were her three thousand dollar leather boots? Shit, all her favourite weapons were concealed in those damn things.

Savitar was going to wipe his surf-board with her fury ass...

Leave it to Jeff to get right to the heart of the matter, "Possibly, but I doubt it. Those who know about it are dead or the ones making it. If I had not been here, there would have been nothing the others could do. You have to know this poison very well to understand how to rid the body of it. There is no cure, as far as I know." Stefan would not apologize for what his people had created. At first it had been just an equalizer against the Arcadians, used only in the most dire of cases.

He walked over to the window and looked out at the city lights. "If you had not killed all the daimons we might have been able to find out where they got it from. But now we will never know until the bodies start piling up. They either gained this knowledge by someone giving it to them or worse, consuming their soul." If that was the case then whoever had this knowledge would waste no time looking for a means to use it against Kattagarian's as well.

///Kimi's room///

Kimi and Andrei had been talking off in the corner, going over what Delaney had told her, which hadn't been much but inflammatory. For now she had sanctuary. Savitar wouldn't have sent someone dangerous to them, that much Kimi knew, but there was more than what the other female was sharing.

"She's awake." She looked over to see Delaney sitting up and looking around.

"Welcome back to the world of the living stranger. Delaney, this is Andrei. He's a friend and possibly the best chance you have of getting that collar off if Stefan can't. Of course you and Andrei have met already." Kimi hung back while Andrei moved to inspect the collar around her neck.

"May I?" He asked before reaching for her.

"Don't bother", Delaney managed to choke out the few words. Dammit, the damn thing was getting worse and worse by the second. Any minute now and she'd be lapsing abck in to unconsciousness. Or worse, madness. "This thing can't be removed by magic. And there's only one Arcadian alive who's ever been able to remove this thing using only his hands. Don't suppose you're related to him or sumtin..."

"Anyways...it's making me remember..." she grumbled under her breath, thinking nobody could hear her.

She was amazed that they hadn't tossed her out on her ass already. And that she was still unbound and free to move around as she chose.

But once they knew...For once, just once she would like to stay in one place where she wasn't considered an abomination. A plague of the Fates on the cursed and the damned. That's what they called her, those who knew. Those who hunted her.
No. Rage. Rage and anger. That's the only thing that had kept her alive all these years. She didn't need any of this.

Could they smell her yet, what she was?

Jeff

"Possibly, but I doubt it. Those who know about it are dead or the ones making it. If I had not been here, there would have been nothing the others could do. You have to know this poison very well to understand how to rid the body of it. There is no cure, as far as I know."

Wait a minute, thought Jeff to himself, as he narrowed his eyes at Stephan. He obviously knows this poison very well, but he just said that the people who know about it are either dead or making it. So, if he isn’t dead, then he must have made it at some point in time. Bloody hell…

Before Jeff had a chance to question further, Stephan stood up, walked to the window, and continued speaking.

If you had not killed all the Daimons we might have been able to find out where they got it from. But now we will never know until the bodies start piling up. They either gained this knowledge by someone giving it to them or worse, consuming their soul."

“Well, excuse me for trying to protect my own life, doc,” Jeff said sarcastically, as he glared at the dragon’s back. “Next time we run into a rogue Daimon that happens to have a poisoned blade, I’ll be sure to take him alive so you can interrogate him.”

“Honestly, doc,” said Jeff, as he resumed eating, now half the platter gone. “If I hadn’t lived to make it here, then you never would have known that those bastard Daimons had the poison.”

“And another thing,” continued Jeff, this time brandishing a drumstick at the were-dragon. “When our healer gets back from Bermuda, you’re going to teach him everything he needs to know about that poison. That way, we can head back to HQ and get the healing done there instead of coming here and bothering you. The gods know just how much animosity there is between the Arcadians and Katagarians.”

"Who said anything about magic? I was think some good old fashion brute strength," Kimi tossed out. She bit back the growl when it came to Arcadian relatives. When Andrei dropped his hand he just got up with a shrug.

"I can talk to Jeff and the others about this." Andrei gestured to the collar as Kimi came closer. When she came to a stop he looked at her, watched her nostrils flare. "Something wrong?"

"Not really. I think I just figured out why our guest here is on the run and has some major hardware in her boots. Andrei gives us a moment, ok? Its a Tiger thing. Or rather an Arcadian thing." Andrei nodded and backed of giving them space.

Kimi knew he was going to here what she had to say, but she knew he had the brains to keep his mouth shut if he wanted to continue breathing. Delaney's eyes were big giving her the look of cornered prey. Kimi sat down and leaned in closing taking another slow sniff before she spoke. "Savitar told you I hated Arcadians right? Of course I am sure he didn't tell you the whys of it. For most of my life I was kept by my own family, my own flesh and blood as some secret, some pet abomination that they couldn't bring themselves to kill. Its a cruel thing the fates do to give a Kattagarian cub to Arcadian parents. When I finally learned to take human shape I ran. My mother, my sisters, aunts, every woman in my family did nothing while the unmated men hunted me down and raped me. See Savitar told you only half the truth. I dislike Arcadians but i hate Tigarian Arcadians. I hate the fact that they pretended to be so noble so human and yet rather than just let me go, let me be they abused me. You are welcome to stay here, but I want the truth Delaney."

///upstairs///

Stefan sighed, "Unless your healer is gifted enough to force his own power and energy into another body the best I can do is show him how to open the veins." He laughed at the rest of Jeff's statement. "Oh yes you just come here to get patched up and nothing else. Certainly not the lovely conversation with Kimi." He shrugged, "but if you wish my assistance you have it. I am sure out Tiger will be glad to see the lot of you gone." The sarcasm in his voice was thick enough to see and cut. Kimi may have tolerated the others but she did genuinely like Jeff and from the few times he had come from his room to see them interacting so did Jeff.

So tell me...what do you think i'm hiding then? You tell me a story that sounds plausible...and I'll swear to you I'll tell you the whole truth...at least, what I remember of it. Anybody else you two want to trust with this, first you check it with me. Otherwise, you keep your mouth shut, and what I tell you doesn't leave these walls. Understood? I don't know you , but I will do anything to protect this secret.

Jeff ignored the healer’s sarcasm, instead focusing on the abilities of the healer for the KPC.

“I’m not sure about him being able to force energy into another body, but he can seal wounds in order to stop bleeding,” responded Jeff, as he continued to eat, with now a quarter of the platter remaining. “In fact, I think his limit is that he can’t fix broken bones; he can only set them and let them heal on their own. So, is that good enough?”

"I am going to take a bite out of his surf board I swear to god if its the last thing i do," Kimi muttered softly, obviously talking about Savitar. She rubbed her temples wonder who she had ticked off in the last hundred years. Andrei hd come away from the door to hear what she had to say as well. He would keep his mouth shut but if it sounded like something Jeff needed to hear, he would share with his brother.

////

Stefan nodded, "I will do my best." He didn't mention the fact it would only be truly useful if the healer was out int he field with them. The faster the poison was stopped the better. "I doubt you'll want to hear this but I suggest sticking around here and taking your time to get 100%. The less you are on that leg the better. You were lucky if the wound had been higher," he shrugged.

“I doubt you'll want to hear this but I suggest sticking around here and taking your time to get 100%. The less you are on that leg the better. You were lucky if the wound had been higher.”

“You’re right doc, I didn’t want to hear that, but I needed to in order to confirm something I was already going to do,” said Jeff. Even without the sarcastic tone of voice, the sarcasm would have been evident.

Jeff put the last bone, cleaned like all the rest, on the platter that was now only carrying bones. He then picked up the jug of water and started working on it, albeit a little slower than he had worked on the platter.

“Had the wound been higher, by about two feet, it probably would have cut a major artery, and then I’d be screwed, right doc?” said Jeff, as he nursed the bottle of water, almost wishing it was something stronger. “Good thing then that it was just my calf that it went through.”

“I’m sure you have other things to attend to, so I don’t want to take up anymore of your time,” said Jeff in as polite a voice that he could muster. “If I take a turn for the worse, doc, I’ll be sure to have Andrei come and get you. Otherwise, I’ll be fine.”

Delaney's secret

Delaney took a deep breath and fought through the pain of the metriazo collar.

"There are Two Arcadian Sentinels after me. My mother's family. They are golden Tigarians. I am white. Like my mother. They think that I am a genetic malformation that needs to be eradicated.

There is also a Kattagari tessera. Also Tigarian. My mother's adoptive father.

When I was 7, my little sister was killed by a Daimon attack. It ripped my parents’ hearts out. It also ripped them apart. They were the worst 5 years of my life. I don’t remember much of it, but what I remember makes my skin cringe and crawl.

My mother's mate was different, so different from them. It should not have been physically possible for them to conceive. How could the Fates allow such a thing to happen? I was bound to be violent, the villagers said. Insane. They watched me. Every day of my life, twice the freak, twice the abomination. They feared me.

When I was 12...there was another Daimon attack. They say that I went crazy. I don’t remember much. Crawling on the cold floor. Blood. Daimon dust. And I remember…" Delaney swallowed and stopped, for the first time in her story. Her eyes swam in the ghosts of her memories, and every breath sounded as if it was ripped from her chest.

"I remember pressing the dagger into his heart. I remember not finding either of them. My mom, my dad, my brother Elijah. Did I kill all of them? Did I kill my whole family like they accuse me of? I don't remember."

But my dad…Xanthos Alexander Xenos…I remember his eyes going dead in front of me. His smile paling off his lips. His hand holding mine on the dagger…trying to push me away from him.

The Kattagari set the house on fire with me still inside. They say…they say that I should never have been born into this world. How could theFates send such a plague on mankind? How could they allow me to get out of that house?

But I don’t remember, Kimi. I don’t remember anything. I don’t remember. Just the Daimons. So many of them…

For the last 390 years I have tried to find out what happened that night. Am I really insane? How do I explain this rage, this agony that tears me up inside, until I am doubled over with the screams lodged inside my throat?

I hate them. I hate them all. Tigers. Daimons. You're not the only one with a grudge, Kimi.

My grandfather thought that we were an abomination, just like you. The Daimons came for us, but weren’t satisfied until they had drenched the whole village in blood. The punishment of Apollo, my grandfather said.

Now, he has sent his Kattagari tesssera to find me. Patricide. Enemy's child.

The Daimons belong to a rogue faction of Dikisi. Dikisi Daimons are also called Vengeance Daimons. They target people that have harmed Apollites. Humans, Dark-Hunters and any who help and serve them. Anybody who has ever, consciously or unconsciously, hurt a child of Apollo.

If they find me, they will not kill me. I am their Blood Prize. If I am not insane now, by the time they finish with me, I’ll wish I was.

I kill them, or they ruin me. This is what I do. I run. I track them down. I let the rage roar through every cell of my body. Maybe I am insane. I feel the rush of the kill, even when it sickens me to my stomach.

Why are they hounding me like that? Savitar tracked them here and sent me after them, to find out why this was all happening.

The Daimons hate me. But now, they also need me. Those three bitches up there on Mount Olympus gave the Daimons the power to fight their curse.

I killed my father. A man they respected and prized. A man some of them loved. A man they needed. An Apollite.

The Fates mated a Were-Hunter to an Apollite. They allowed them to have children.

I've always known what I was. Savitar knows.

And now... the two of you.

I should never have been born. And I should never have been allowed to live.

But I am here. And I'm staying. There's too many Daimons and not enough Hunters to fight them.

"The hell with not being born you're not even to have supposed to lived this long. Your Apollite blood should have either killed you or you should have gone Daimon." Of course Delaney had a point about the fact she shouldn't have even been born. "If your father did not become a Daimon they had no reason to hate him." That's if he wasn't one when she was born already. Jeff and the other KPCs would probably watch Delaney all too carefully. She may have been one of them, but she still carried Daimon blood. It was probably the only reason she could fight off the collar.

"I really am going to kill Savitar. He could have at least taken the collar off you. If any one it would be him. Well him and Ash, but we both know they prefer to stay out things if possible."

Kimi then began to laugh. It was a harsh laugh and she shook her head, "You know when I called you cousin it was probably true. Leave it to the beach bum to send my way the one distant relative I might be inclined to deal with. Come on I should probably introduce you to Jeff. Your best bet is to stay here during the day, but if you plan to be out and about you are going to need his help.

///Upstairs///

Stephan just nodded, "Believe me when I say Jeff that I would have preferred this poison had never seen the light of day again. This daimon took out one or more dragons for this. They are no easy foe." He turned and after grabbing up Jeff's plate headed out of the room.

"The hell with not being born you're not even to have supposed to lived this long. Your Apollite blood should have either killed you or you should have gone Daimon."

“I am not Daimon, nor have I Daimon blood inside my veins.” Delaney growled towards Delaney. "Apollite, yes. Learn how to make the diffference. Or I will make you learn it."

Kimi was entitled to her questions, but hell, Delaney really hated when people didn't just come out and say what they meant.

"I really am going to kill Savitar. He could have at least taken the collar off you. If any one it would be him. Well him and Ash, but we both know they prefer to stay out things if possible."

“They do. But if I was a threat to you or yours, they wouldn’t have sent me here in the first place.”

Delaney knew that the tiger was only trying to protect herself and her own. But she was tired of being so defensive or herself all the time. Over the centuries, she had learned not to care what others thought. Or so she kept telling herself. At first, she's had a nasty temper and a very short fuse. She was ready to fight anybody that just so much as gave her the wrong kinda look. But then she had met Acheron, and he had taught her to leash her emotions, to harness her anger and use it in her fight against the inkblots.
Only in the past 20 or 30 years had she learned how to properly hide her scent, to mask the Apollite part of her heritage.
She was tired of always having to defend herself. She'd spent so much time in limanis in her 400 years, but she had never found sanctuary. Just once, she wanted to go somewhere where people were, hell, if not friendly, at least not hostile towards her.

"Come on I should probably introduce you to Jeff. Your best bet is to stay here during the day, but if you plan to be out and about you are going to need his help."

Fine!" Delaney ground out between her teeth, replacing her hurt with pure old-fashioned anger. "Great, one more asshole to contend with," she grumbled under her breath." She slowly got up of the bed and staggered. She had to get this damn thing off or it would kill her. Maybe this Jeff guy could be of some assistance. "Now what the hell did you do with my three-thousand dollar boots?"

Andrei was about to speak up for his brother but Kimi beat him too it. "Fuck your shoes, ok. First off I never said you had Daimon in you but technically speaking Daimons and Apollites are the same fucking thing. The only difference is whether you die when you are fated to or not. I let that go on account of you being so tired and that damn collar that you can't hear me clearly. What I won't let go however is you insulting someone you have never met, let alone know enough to make that assessment."

"Kimi, cut her some slack ok. Hell you've called my brother worse." Andrei injected trying to ease the hammer back on her temper.

"That is from years of knowing your brother and a bit of a truce." She looked back at Delaney. "You want our help you might consider loosing the bass on your tone. After what has gone down tonight I doubt Jeff is up to dealing with rage issues. Now take a breath, relax and put your boots on. Andrei will help you up the stairs." Her tone had softened, for the most part. It wouldn't have been a fair fight anyways.

She turned and headed for the door. Andrei walked over and offered Delaney his arm. "You'll have to forgive Kimi. Your timing could have been better is all. We had to bring in several injured men tonight. Jeff, my brother and out unit's leader was poisoned. She's upset that she didn't notice anything wrong with his wound." He left out that Kimi wouldn't have been hostile to Delaney any other night instead she would have been as cold as the fucking Artic.

Outside of the room Kimi was talking to the group of Daimons from Sin's casino. Damien was among the group. The Casino manager and sometimes pit boss took one look at Delaney and then nodded in Kimi's direction before the entire crowd left.

"Let's go see if pigeon boy is still awake." Without a second look she headed upstairs.

"What I won't let go however is you insulting someone you have never met, let alone know enough to make that assessment."

"Excuse me if I'm not too keen on meeting yet another of my lot," Delaney said, a bit stung by the harshness of Kimi's reprimand. "I was just talking to myself, that's all"

"That is from years of knowing your brother and a bit of a truce."
Delaney turned towards Andrei. "I take it this Jeff guy is your brother? I'm sorry, but I haven't met anybody lately who wasn't either afraid of, disgusted by or after me. I'm just a bit weary of it, is all."

Delaney sighed and reached out to take her boots off Andrei, but seeing how he manhandled them like they were nothing, she snatched them out of his hands and cradled them to her chest. A look of longing crossed her face, quickly covered by a smug smirk. She sat down on the bed and zipped up her boots, then accepted the arm Andrei offered and let him pull her to her feet.

"You'll have to forgive Kimi. Your timing could have been better is all. We had to bring in several injured men tonight. Jeff, my brother and out unit's leader was poisoned. She's upset that she didn't notice anything wrong with his wound."

Delaney curled her fingers around Andrei's arm, a warm feeling sneaking through her body at the contact with his muscled flesh. To hide her reaction, she smirked again and fell back on her usual lippy personality.

"Little boy, you've no idea how close she was to having two injured Arcadians on her hands tonight." As she walked out the door, she gently lifted her leg to sneak in between Andrei's. A thin blade was sticking out from the tip of her heel.

"Frowning at the man currently talking to Kimi, she lowered her foot and whispered in Andrei's general direction. "Next time you take a girl's boots off, I suggest you mind your fingers, boy. Do you know how hard it is to get blood stains out of very expensive leather? Besides, I'd be sorry to see a pretty thing like yourself injured because of a little carelessness."

Out loud, she nodded in the direction of the man now stalking away, and started walking alongside Kimi "Who was that?"

Andrei snorted softly, "That was Damien Gatopoulous. I'm sure Savitar mentioned the Dark Hunter Sin. He owns a casino and the Fabio band that just left are his pet Daimon employees." He shook his head as the followed Kimi. "They don't bother us and we don't bother them. Sin doesn't take to kindly to us killing them and yes Ash knows about them. They only get a free pass because the feed off the scum that frequent and inhabit this city."

He wasn't all that much younger than Delaney, but he wasn't going to argue the point. To say the least he was impressed by here, but being what she was did unnerve him a bit. "And if Arcadians bother you then you are seeking shelter in the wrong place."

"Hey," Kimi called out ahead of them as she pushed the room door open with out knocking. "You awake in here fly boy?"

Jeff leaned back against the pillows and closed his eyes, relaxing while his body set to work on healing itself. He was content to finally have some peace, but it wasn’t to last.

"You awake in here fly boy?"

Jeff didn’t even open his eyes, knowing perfectly well that Kimi had come to bug him.

“You’d probably just wake me up anyways if I wasn’t,” Jeff said. “So, which is it? Did you come to try and comfort me in my pain, or add to it?”

Along with Kimi’s, Jeff noted to other scents, one being Andrei’s and the other being someone he didn’t know. He paid them no mind, for he had a feeling that he was about to find out about the newcomer without having to ask.

"Oh I'll comfort you alright." She rolled her eyes dramatically, but she was glad he was being snippy. It meant he was feeling better. Walking over she leaned over until they were nose to nose, "Open your eyes, its rude to ignore company. Especially when its someone so...unique."

"Delaney," Andrei gestured, "This is my brother Jeff. Jeff this is Delaney. She's an Arcadian Tiger. And she has a metriazo collar." That would get his brother's attention. He could tell Kimi was going to let Delaney explain herself.

"Oh I'll comfort you alright. Open your eyes, its rude to ignore company. Especially when it’s someone so...unique."

Jeff opened his eyes to find himself looking right into Kimi’s eyes. To say that this situation was disconcerting would be an understatement for Jeff.

“I see. You’ve come to add to my pain,” Jeff said, trying hard to not let Kimi’s proximity get to him. “Just great.”

"Delaney, this is my brother Jeff. Jeff this is Delaney. She's an Arcadian Tiger. And she has a Metriazo collar."

That got Jeff’s attention, the mention of the Metriazo collar. He sat up rather quickly, forgetting the fact that Kimi was so close, and whacked his forehead against hers. Biting back a curse and giving Kimi a glare, he rubbed his head and then focused on the woman hanging on Andrei’s arm. She did indeed have a Metriazo collar, around her neck.

“You’ll excuse for not getting up to greet you Miss Delaney, but as you can see, I have bad leg,” said Jeff, pointing down at his bandaged calf. “So, a couple of questions. First, why the hell are you hanging on my brother’s arm like that? And secondly, how the hell can you be wearing a Metriazo collar and not be in a cage?”

"Half-breed", Delaney acknowledged the hunk of man on the bed. Two seconds later she realized that she couldn't have possibly insulted the guy more. "S-sorry," she acknowledged grudgingly, "my social skills are a bit lacking at the moment". Damn, she hated having to apologize.

"How the hell does she do that? Arcadian's aren't supposed to be all that good at this whole scent thing" Andrei mumbled towards Kimi.

"That would be the Apollite blood in me" Delaney stated, knowing that that particular bit of information would raise the guy on the bed's interest. Might as well get it over with.

But before she could answer his questions......."Wait. Did you say...Daimons? she whirled towards Kimi, eyes sparkling with supressed fury. You've got Daimons in your sanctuary...and you let them stay here? Akelos Daimons?" Akelos Daimons were Daimons who didn't want to or couldn't bring themselves to prey on innocent humans. Needing blood nonetheless, they had sworn themselves to feed only of the souls of criminals. Murderers, paedophiles, wife beaters. The dregs of society. All noble and everything in theory...until they took one too many souls, a tad too strong, and the corruption of their victims overwhelmed them and drove them insane. That's when they became killers, making no distinction anymore between who deserved to die and who didn't, preying on anybody just for the thrill of the blood, and not being able to stop. Even other Daimons abhored the Trelos. Hell, for over 100 years she had hunted Trelos down and put them out of their miseries. 'Daimon pest-control', some called it.

Delaney tried to pry away from Andrei, but found that she could barely stand. Besides, the new guy - Jeff - would probably want some question answers. If necessary, she could track down those sons-of-bitches later.

"I think I need to sit down. So Jeff...I know I'm intruding your vacation, here..." Delaney directed a smile towards his injury, and the obvious signs of leftover food on his bedside table "but where do you want me to start?"

First, why the hell are you hanging on my brother’s arm like that?

As Andrei directed Delaney to a chair, she remembered Jeff's first question and couldn't help riling him. Holding on to Andrei's arm a tad longer than necessary, she looked straight at Jeff, and stroked her finger up his brother's inner forearm. Running her fingernail on his wrist, she musingly commented... "My, are your muscles as tight as your brother's? Cuz I don't mind trading...”
Yes, these two were definitely fine male specimens. Delaney inwardly shook her head at her own behaviour and focused her mind back on the conversation.

Kimi rubbed her own forehead and planted herself on one of the empty beds. When Delaney asked about Damien and the others she just shook her head,, that was none o her business and if she felt the need to go after them she would be Sin's problem. And that was one fight Kimi would not be getting in the middle of. What did catch her off guard was Delaney flirting with Jeff. She bit her own lip to contain the growl that nearly came rolling out. What the hell? It wasn't like Jeff was hers. Hell that man would never think to look at her like that. Not if he wanted to continue to breath normal.

When Jeff why she was all over Andrei Kimi laughed softly, "Because she's about as week as a newborn cub right now. You could probably knock her flat on her ass right now."
