Not at all. They deserve to be judged. I've always judged them negatively for the medical problems the human designed 'dogs' suffer. Also don't breed and buy while shelter dogs die.

In the UK, many of the Westminster dogs, owned by members of the Houses of Parliament, are ex-shelter dogs. That is good for a politician's image.

Dog shows are usually kind of fun to watch. Some very nice examples of the different breeds. You get to see what your dog is supposed to look like and they usually throw in some odd details so you also learn something now and then.
OTOH they're also boring and stuffy and very very white.

Most of the time the handler and the breeder aren’t the same person. I assume if your dog made it to Westminster you’d want a professional handler to show them. No room for mistakes!

Surprised any time a dog other than a lab wins obedience. I've often said labs are probably the most loyal animal there is and that includes humans.

I also have a Husky/Shepherd mix. She is quirky.

Yeah, the lab that won has won several times and is being retired, this will be her last tournament.

Watching the obedience and agility are much more entertaining than show, and the dogs’ physiognomy aren’t perfect either. The lab that won obedience wouldn’t even qualify for show.

Some dog shows are wising up. Pekingese who won Westminster kicked out of Crufts.

Since KeithD isn’t replying to me, I’m just gonna teach everyone a little bit about poodles.

Poodle size:
~Standard (>15" at the withers)
~Miniature (<15" & >10" at the withers)
~Toy (<10" at withers)

Poodle coloring:
~French Standard means the dog is 1 solid color.
~German Standard means the dog is 2 colors, aka Parti color. Here is an example of a Parti Poodle:

AKC & Westminster adopted the French Standard.
UKC accepts both French Standard & German Standard.
