I think you are correct. I was there 2 years ago- Tower of London was a cool place to visit. I didn't know the crown jewels were kept there until we got there. I liked seeing those and also liked the beefeater's tour of the place.

when you were there Cheyenne...

did you see the (Ravens?....Crows?... Blackbirds?.... i forget which)...

Ravens... yup! One guy is assigned to take care of the birds- that is his whole job.

(putting on her fake tour guide smile)

To the east, we have lovely Annapolis, complete with US Naval Academy (no, they don't study bellybuttons) and Ego Alley (THE place to be seen). Here we also find the absolute best crab cakes in the universe, but the microbrew beer sucks. Plenty of shopping, especially if you're into nautical doodads. All in all, one lovely (did I mention lovely?) homogenized little community.

To the north, we find Baltimore, the wanna-be megopolis. (I hate B-more.) Again, more nautical touristy stuff, the USS Constitution (I think, I hate boats) and such. However, the aquarium is fantastic, with a wonderful dolphin show and a pretty good shark tank. Also Lexington Market is a great place to see the unusual side of humanity. Definately a must-do, but be sure your tetanus shot is up to date.

To the west, is our nation's capitol. The usual government attractions can be found here. Of note is the National Museum of Natural History. Show up on the right day and they let you play with the bugs. Be sure to visit the monuments as well, they are impressive. Both the Vietnam and the Korean War memorials defy words.

To the south is Southern Maryland, a place I wouldn't wish on Satan himself. Avoid at all costs.

This concludes our tour of Maryland. Thank you and be glad you are only visiting.

Glad you enjoyed it Cheyenne. A few years ago the large area by the pub and shops before you go into the Tower of London used to have entertainers. Some were quite famous in their own right and were always popping up in films as extras.. There were jugglers, fire-eaters, an escapologist (he was about the most famous of them all), puppet shows and so on. But like everything else the local authority said they had to be licenced and so they stopped going.

That was a pity. Some had been there for years and really added to the atmosphere...

OK... I gotta know

Why do they call NJ the garden state?

Surprisingly enough it had some great truck farm areas at one time,,, provided the bulk of the spring and summer produce to the east coast,,, ( and it might still be that way )

Now I think of it as mere tongue in cheek,,,
