What is going on?

I had to drive through the city today to get to Walmart. My mission was to buy some food items for a company dinner that we host once a year.

I kept noticing signs all over town saying: "Help wanted" "Now Hiring" and things like that. What is going on? Why are so many businesses looking for new workers?

Is this just happening where I live or is it nationwide? I just don't get it. A few years ago there were terrible unemployment numbers. So now why are there suddenly more jobs then workers? What is going on?

every company hires for the holidays but here in the US the employment numbers are the lowest they've been in years.

Go pick up a newspaper and start reading the business section or better yet, just start reading the business section of different websites.

Quit being an ostrich with your head in the sand, this has been happening for several years and is nothing new

From that I understand, we are reaping the benefits of the previous administration "Green Energy Economy," and the 2 to 1 leverage that taking money out of the private sector and giving it away to welfare recipients. It just took a little while to show the results of the brilliant policies of the previous administration.

That's the flaw with the current administration's economic policy. All these people coming off welfare and into the job market can't be maintained. Once we get a Democrat back in office, common sense economic policies, including onerous business regulations and higher taxes, will restore balance.

A wealth tax is a very common sense approach to accomplishing that. If you can get the money out of the greedy capitalists hands then instead of focusing that money on creating jobs which are nothing but drudgery for people you can put that money filtered through government with its built-in efficiencies to incentivise lower productivity, making welfare more attractive.

Where else can you get a two-for-one bang for your buck?

If we could somehow capture all of GDP and simply give it to the polor to spend, it would obviously double GDP. This isn't rocket surgery. I don't know why Republicans don't understand basic economics.

Facepalm... most of them are scams... some are even ways to trap people for sex trafficking. You people live under a fucking rock. 🙄

*nods*

Especially watch out for that help wanted sign at the pizza place. There's a well-known Sex Dungeon in the basement.

The What-A-Burger down the street has a "Help Wanted" sign as you leave the drive thru. The first rung on the ladder to success.

Business is outrunning the supply of labor.

True. Businesses can’t rely on the current birth rates and number of young people entering the work force. At some point, one of two things will happen. Either automation and robotics will cover the need or there will be a certain increase in number of immigrants into the country to fill the needed jobs.

Now I get it

That makes perfect sense. In fact if I remember right, after doubling the national debt to help wonderful partners like Iran develop peaceful nuclear products the economy was only bad during the Obama-nation period due to the Bush White House.

Walmart a trap for sex trafficking?

I noticed Walmart was hiring too. Who would have dreamed that Walmart is just a front for sex trafficking. So it is safe to assume that the Trump economy is ready to collapse right? There really are not jobs?

Seasonal hiring, minimum wage no benefit hiring.

and lack of migrant workers.

What does that mean for future production growth?

Automation

Trump has not been shy about running up the national credit card.

Walls work, then?

I'm trying to wrap my head around this idea that somebody can not know what temp seasonal hiring is, like as an adult.

How'd you do that?

Were you some sickly Victorian child that was raised in the back room of a dilapidated mansion and father forbade poor folk like servants to enter your room lest they spread the Scarlet Fever to the rest of the staff and then your parents lose all the help?

It must be see shelly's super high IQ that is confusing "her" about the influx of help wanted signs.

Dont think for a second that it is because "she" is dumb.:)

There are help wanted signs all over my town on street corners. A close look at the signs and one can see that they are hiring census takers. $28/hour.
