What is the most important thing

Trust is the most important element in any relationship. When you've achieved that, everything else falls into place. When you don't have it or have lost it , everything falls apart.

okay define trust. Are there different levels for each kind of relationship and what are they for you? Please give examples.

if you trust someone you trust them - you don't you don't - doesn't get any simpler than that....trust has never had multiple levels to me, you either do or you don't....

Perfectly said, I couldn't agree more. It is or it isn't... no gray, no in between

truth!

Trust is something you earn...being able to tell you the truth, regardless of the consequences, is a trait that you either have or don't. It's the right thing to do. One lie will lead to others...and looking at these 3 people I can't believe someone hasn't said money!!!!...I know they have thought it...:D

Trust is a developed result of doing the right thing, telling the truth, being there for the other when needed, etc. - So yes, it is something that's earned. We are saying the same thing here... I guess you lost me on the whole "money" comment... "money" never entered my mind actually and would never be a criteria, as I make enough of my own. Sure it matters that the other is capable of making their own money and can support themselves, but it's not on the top three of my list.. Interesting you can tell so much from a picture. You must tell me your secret...

Great A/V, btw... ;)

TRUST
HONESTY
LOYALTY
Those 3 are key in my book.....cross me on any of them and you're gone. :catroar:

I would have to agree with Sassy. Trust, loyalty and honesty are the three top ones for me.

Me too I have to say, even if you just trust them to get into trouble but they're honest about it ;)

Trust is important...but I disagree with the statement that there are not different levels of trust.

I am a firefighter and there is the trust in your Brother firefighters that they will never leave you. That your life is in their hands and they understand and you understand the responsibility that goes with that level of trust. This level of trust is far different than the level of trust between lovers and friends. Rarely do lovers and friends place their very life or death in your hands.

The trust of lovers and friends is the trust of the heart. Trust that you are you say you are. Trust that you mean what you say. Trust that you would never intentionally hurt them.

My top 3 would be Trust, Honesty, Respect.

*nods vigorously, agreeing with Fyreguy*
Though, R-E-S-P-E-C-T might come first. If you respect me, then i know i can trust you to be honest with me...see? :catroar:

Communication and the ability to endeavor to work out the inevitable problems.

Thanks guys.

Its strange, I did just get rid of someone over respect, and I am a bit sad because I liked him.

I have one friend I trust with my life and while he doesn't intentional hurt me but he can be very hurtful sometimes by not thinking or being selfish. Sometimes its like he thinks just because we are close friends he doesn't need to be polite anymore like he would to someone he wasn't as close to.
