what is this?

thanks beck!

Just thought this thread needed to step back for a minute and breath. But, it was kinda funny huh?

no problem

That's why i'm here. Just think of me as the comic relief (just don't get any high expectations).

Myst, please don't take this the wrong way, but that is a problem to be dealt with by an analyst , not a chatroom. Certainly no one here is qualified to help with deal with the post traumatic stress of such a horrible experience. This isn't a blow off...just a suggestion that counseling is worth its weight in gold.

Now tell me: How am I NOT supposed to take that the wrong way? Someone asked a question, a specific question. I responded. I need to go to counseling because I CAN talk about what happened to me? Interesting concept... kill the pain you feel, AND the messenger. Now think about it.... do you really think that I've never been to counseling?

WD, I'm sorry that you and I found each other's views on this subject displeasing. Let's not get into this subject in the future; I will quietly listen, and not comment.

Myst, Beck, everyone all together now . . . *starting to sway back and forth*

Cymbidia, I'm 100 percent happy as hell you've been posting on the GB more and more. I missed you and your posts.

I second that! She's a great mediator, and definitely not a fair-weather friend.

My focus here is the safety issue, and I really can't say more because I don't know more. Besides, I thought we were kinda friends.
bbabe? I overreacted, totally. I was sorta freaked out, to be honest, that this whole "BDSM is fucked and everyone who does it is doubly fucked" issue came up AGAIN, and from Myst, of all people. So i overreacted onto you. Because i was thinking that we were friends (kinda ~g~), it sorta hurt when i thought you, too, were unloading on me and the kind of person i am.

I'm sorry for that. Like every one of us, i'm a total raging bitch on occasion. I've got a hugely important, emotional weekend coming up and i'm sort of (sort of? gods. understatement.) jittery about that, too. Presto! Bitch time. Hair trigger time! I think i'm heading into PMS, too, to be honest. (Long as i don't start my period this weekend, all will be well. Cross your fingers for me...)

I'm sorry, bbabe

Angel? Myst?
Thanks, guys.
Really.

Cymbidia...it's ok, I freak out sometimes too. Huggggs woman! We might as well go all the way to "friends" ;)

Myst, I wouldn't have any way of knowing that you've been to counseling, but I'm glad you have. Taking it the wrong way...that would be making it personal, which it wasn't, that was my best advice to anyone who was in that situation...anyone...but you don't need it...cool.

Oh yeah...

Just wanted you to think a bit before you posted an assumption.

Why can't we all just get along... or something?

Uh... if anyone wants to get rid of all this pent-up anger by beating the hell out of someone...

I can take a lot of punishment!

:p

Myst

I'm sorry I reacted so strongly to your post. It wasn't directed at you personally, but to the misinformation that a small group of us here have to address too often. There is nothing, nothing that tears at my heart more than abuse of women which is much to prevalent not only in the US but in the world. If I was in a financial position to make a difference, my first priority would be to create a shelter for abused women in my hometown. I wish there were more voices here like cym who can address our position more articulately than myself.

...maybe saying hi before delving into deep issues would have been good too...Hi Myst..nice to meet you :) I meant no harm, but if I caused any I am truly sorry.

Why I am a Domme

Myst, your feelings and the psychology behind them are completely valid. Here's a twist that you may/may not relate to.

When I was 20, I was sodomized by my boyfriend. Long story short, I screamed while his frat brothers just stood by. The rape left me with injuries severe enough to plague me to this day. Several years later, I've had mucho therapy and even more tearful nights.

Being dominant allows me to explore my sexuality feeling like I have the control that I lost so long ago. Submissive does NOT mean subservient. It makes me feel as if the playing field has been leveled just a little bit, and through my play I'm slowly learning to trust again.

Welcome. We could certainly use another vocal, articulate voice for Safe, Sane, and Consensual play in this place. Gonna stick around? I hope so.

bbabe - it's just a weekend, a long overdue weekend, with someone very important to me. No big deal to anyone else in the world but me, i assure you. I didn't mean to be mysterious. Sorry.
