When we moved into our previous house, the cooker was a solid fuel AGA, that also heated the hot water.
One evening I forget to top-up the fuel. In the morning the AGA was cold. We couldn't boil a kettle and I had to wash, as did the whole family, in cold water.
Within a week we had installed an immersion heater and bought a second hand electric cooker because we had found out that the Aga would go out if there was a strong wind from the South East...
