Agent Malina Steele slowly sat up from the bed. The sun was shining in her eyes and she shielded them from the bright light. Every morning she vowed to get darker curtains to shield out that damn sun and every day she knew she wouldn't do it or else she would never awaken. She instantly recognized the sounds around her having used this as a safe house for many years. No one would expect an government spy to live here in a residential apartment that was under security 24/7. It was slightly upper middle class and she knew her neighbors and they thought they knew her. It was perfect harmony and the neighbors even inquired about her frequent business trips knowing she was an assistant for some large company and often had to travel. She even had the business cards to prove it.

Malina turned slowly towards the door not knowing what was triggering her inner alarms, but trusting her sixth sense. She slowly slid the .45 caliber pistol from under her pillow and slid against the wall. She looked out the peek hole, but saw no one. She suddenly threw open her door and there was someone leaning down at her door about to slide a manila envelope under her door. The man looked startled and stared at the pistol in his face; not her.

"What are you doing?"

"I was told to slide this under your door. Was given $100 to do it. I just thought it was easy money. I... I'm sorry. My wife just had twins and my job doesn't pay enough. I thought it was a god send. I'm sorry. Here!" The man was holding the $100 bill in his fist.

Malina looked down the hall; empty. "I'm sorry. I thought you were a thief. Can never be too careful." The man sagged in relief. 2 ... 1 on time security came barreling down the hall.

"Malina are you okay? What's going on?"

"Nothing John. This gentleman startled me outside of the door. I thought he was a robber." Malina laughed and security chuckled with her. "He was just delivering me some mail that was dropped." Malina turned to the man. "Thank you. Here's $50 for your trouble." Malina quickly dug a a 50 dollar bill out of her purse. The man took it with his mouth wide and quickly left with security behind him.

Malina closed the door and turned sharply. Her contact Richard was sitting on her bed facing her with a smile. "Dammit, Richard!" She hated that he seemed to be the only person who could sneak up on her. He opened the manila folder and Malina looked down at her left hand where the folder was supposed to be. How the hell did he do that?

"Agent Steele if you chose to accept this mission. There is a village in the heart of the Athonian country that has been found to house Malik Qaedo."

"The world's biggest terrorist?! In Athonia. No shit." Malina walked over to Richard and snatched the contents from his palm. She read over it while he talked offering her own little spice of commentary.

"Not only that, but we have intel that the land there is fertile for the government to use..."

"Meaning it has oil," she mumbled.

"... we have sent agents out with no luck. They are unable to get the locals to cooperate in giving the intel on Qaedo or the selling of the land."

"So you come to the best."

"Malina we want you to go in as a businesswoman hoping to secure land for the Key Incorporation for Limited Living. A company dedicated to helping the less fortunate find homes."

Malina ran that business name through her head. "Wait the KILL Company?!" Malina shook her head at the gall of the government.

"No the Key Inc LL division. Malina you'll have a contact that you can use or not." Malina shook her head once more. "I know you prefer to work alone, but so does he. He might not even help you. Hell, he might even scoff at you."

Malina perked up. A challenge?! She flipped the pages to the back and got a bio on her unconfirmed contact. "Blah blah blah. Military. Blah blah blah. Badly ... hey this shit is blacked out." Malina threw the paper at Richard which floated softly to the ground. That meant the man had either gone AWOL or was a spook. Either case he was more than a curiosity for Malina and she was intrigued.

"I accept the mission. Now get out of my house."

Malina turned back and Richard was gone. Probably left before she said she would accept. He knew her too well. Malina went to her closet and selected the rich burgundy suitcases. It had everything she would need. Her name would be Malina Cabal and she would be snooty, but polite; friendly a bit helpless and totally at the locals mercy. They'll eat it up. Or so she thought.

Athonia, smack dab in the middle of the south american amazon, was a land that Malik Qaedo calls his playground. Even though he's not out in public, half the worlds superpowers got a heafty bounty on him. His drugs and infulence has the goverment under his thumb. Not many men know his location..or even could get close to him, yet the contact Maliea was looking for was one of them. Deep within the captal, amongst the townfolk was a armed white man, finding his way into the local bar. Wearing a simple set of clothing, a old pair of US camopants along with a black tee shirt, he had a vest of thick kevlar and a AK-47 slung on his back. Along his exposed arms a collection of deep, jagged scars that were visable. A wide brimmed stenson covers his head from the sun as he walks into the familer bar. The chatter of the bar patrons stopped as he made his appereace, the bar owner speaking up <..It's you again..> The figure looks back raising his hat a bit responding in his own progeuse, the voice spoke and steady, gritty like sand from the salt flats. <The usual Keko..> He found himself a corner, away from the others to begin looking over a folder he recevied this afternoon. <Just don't start another fight.> The bartender responded as he began to pour his drink of watered down liquor, brining it to him. The white stranger within this bar just sighed, comfroble his english would not be picked up on even as Keko walked by "..Really had to get yourself inloved in a US agent eh Sam? The bounties and excorts are far less tedious..

Malina touched down and standing on the steps of her private jet looked around at ... a hell hole. She blinked back the dust and sweat that seemed to hang in the air before she buttoned her over coat and took it off. Her shirt was a thin piece of fabric that instantly clung to her body. Her knee length skirt hugged her hips and ass. She was sophisticated sexy in a business sense.

"Right this way Ms. Cabal. We have a suite waiting for you."

"Thank you Timon. I'm sure I'll have a lovely stay here." Malina managed to almost trip down the stairs. Timon caught her and she smiled prettily at him. "Thank you. I should invest in some boots," She laughed and Timon chuckled. "When is the next town's meeting?"

Timon instantly stiffened. "It is in a few days. You were supposed to be the one who helps people. Find them good homes."

"I am. I am," Malina quickly stated. "But to do that we need land." Timon looked down and Malina crouched to get in his line of sight before slowly standing back up so he'll look at her again. "I'm not here to hurt you or your people. I'm here to help."

"Another lie. You are like the rest. No one will agree or help you," Timon spoke in Progeuse. Malina understood it having had to learn it to make this trip. She wrinkled her brow in confusion. "I said I will take you to your room. The city isn't very big. When all the houses and stores stop you're pretty much in the jungle. Don't get lost. We will not search for you."

"Okay," Malina cried after him as she hurried to the car he offered.

2 hours later Malina was very much aware that these people were very guarded and careful. Something was amiss here and she realized that they knew Malik was here and probably running things. Worse he probably knew she was here. She knew he would get the information of Malina Cabal all the way to the day she was born. She would have to tread carefully and knew she would need the aid of that contact. How he managed to live here and not be killed was a trait she would need.

Malina was dressed in a Chanel white shirt and Gucci shorts. The boots were mid calf and had as she looked in the mirror she saw a well put together woman in slightly expensive clothing. When she looked deeper she saw the shorts were cut wide enough so that if she needed to do a roundhouse kick she could, the shirt had enough room to not weigh her down if she needed to flee, and the boots wouldn't chaf her feet and had an inner compartment that housed her knife. She hated going out without her weapons, but why would a business woman be carrying.

Malina smiled and glanced around before going to the hidden compartment in her suitcase and taking out a huge machete. Now she felt better. She walked to the local bar and sighed. The sweat on her forehead was real as she entered the place. She saw him immediately. Being the only American he wasn't hard to spot. Though she acted as if she didn't.

"Bartender may I get a Mioto .. no... a Mimosa ... no .. a beer!" Finally something she could drink. Malina almost wanted to hit herself, but she must play this role. "Um, is there anyone who could show me this beautiful land. I have my own chopping knife and everything." The room was silent as Malina paid for her beer. "I have money too." Now that cause a bit of a stir, but still no one was jumping up.

When Malina walked in most of the bar perked up, inculding Sam. He could not help but follow his fellow patron's lead and let his eyes..or rather his good eye look over her, taking in every inch..the curves..the dark skin. It'd be impossible to not let his mind wander "Agents get prettier and prettier as time goes on..picture does not do her justice." He thought to himself, a smirk on his face. He took a moment to listen to her as he then stood up "Thats my que.." Heavy army boots hitting the ground as he walked over to her letting out a soft wistle to get her attetion "..You look like your out of of place Darlin'." If anyone would pay attetion close to the gutteral growls that he spoke in it had a bit of a Texas drawl hidden within it. As he spoke he adjusted his hat a moment so a shadow casted over his face, he taking a bit of effort to keep it at least someone hidden..though she could see his eyes. One was a brillant emrald green, the other was red and cloudy looking like he was blind in it. "You look like you need a guide and well.." He spoke sitting down at the bar near her "I am a mercenary..so I make a carrier of helping people out for money." He taking a moment to pull out a few brazillian reals to pay for her drink along with his own.

Malina looked at her contact as he walked to her. She smiled at his comment. "I am a little out of place. I here to help people who are down and out of luck find affordable homes that are nice on the inside and outside." Malina stuck out her hand not sure if he would take it or not. "I'm Malina. Malina Cabal from Key Incorporation the Limited Living Division. Here to help not hurt." She smiled. "And offer money. Thank you for helping me."

Malina chugged her beer and turned towards the door. "If you'll assist me please sir I'm sure $100 for an hour will be well worth the hour." Malina went down the 3 steps and hacked her way into the jungle. She was about 20 minutes in and was 100% positive they were not being followed when she turned and her attitude changed.

"Okay, I'm sure you got some of the information on why I'm truly here. My main mission is to find Malik Qaedo and a side mission is to get land from the locals. I don't want you getting involve any further than offering information. I don't want you getting in my way. If you can't do that than I'll figure this out on my own. Got it?"

"Of course" Sam responded to Malina as he began to follow behind. Pausing a moment he spoke "$100? Well..am used to $160 but..hey Job sounds easy enough" Sam followed behind her as they walked out of town into the jungle. As they got in deeper and Malina let down her disguise to speak to him, he responded "Yeah, I know where Malik is. He's pretty locked up tight in the only Villa deep within the jungle, placed along the amazon river...roughly 20 miles from here. He ain't to kind to foreners, even like minded ones...was surpised he hired me to do a few jobs for him..anywho, guys got control of the land. You knock him off, United states can take care of the rest, march in with the propaganda wagon get people to love them through modern conveniences. Then take the land under their noses when they are not looking." As they walked, Malina briefly could see the sun shine under his Stetson, dark scar tissue could be visble..

Malina nodded as she got the information. She sighed knowing the river stretched for miles which meant she'll be looking for weeks. "Thanks. Yeah. Let's just hope that the government doesn't try to undercut the people. You know how that goes." Malina turned just as she got a good look at his face. She paused being able to see it up close and personal. She wasn't grossed out. Hell, she was an agent, but she did feel for the guy. This was what was blocked out in her report.

"You want to tell me what happened to you as we go a little further?" Malina hacked her way a little further in. She was looking at the ground, the greenery, anything that would give away that someone had been here which meant she had to stop hacking her way in and move with the plants. She listened to him as she worked and thought she had a good general idea of where the camp might be headed or she was following a hunter or gatherer. Either way she had a starting point.

Sam reasponded "Most likely..but maybe someone will have a heart." He then froze when she asked that question. Breif memories of torture flashed through his mind as he then said nothing for a few moments standing like a statue before he then knew she saw a little bit of his face.. "Well..might as well..if you hear one of the locals call me "devil-face" you'll know the reason" Sam turned, lifting the hat enough so she could see..reveiling that the left side of his face, from his hairline, down to his neck has been horribly burnt down to the bone. His left cheek was near non-existance, held together by three strands of melted tendon and muscle, teeth exposed in places. His eye was red and cloudy with no pupil, obviously blind..it was almost strange, how this one side was so mutilated, but the other was quite rugged if not a bit handsome "...long story short was tortured with a hot plate of iron pressed onto my face..all you need to know"

Malina continued taking smaller steps deeper and deeper into the undergrowth. With all the tall trees it was quite dark and cool; even if it was still hot and humid. It wasn't as bad as being out in the direct sunlight. She turned when she heard him refer to himself as 'devil face'. She stood straight up and used all her training to make sure her eyes remain cold, flat, and dead. No emotion entered them as she let herself give a fill. She thought it was just a bit of scarring. No, this was worse much worse. Whoever did this wanted him to hurt and be outcasted for the rest of his life. This almost seemed personal.

Malina slowly reached up and traced the scar tissue. It was tough, hard, and she wondered if he could feel her touch. She stayed clear of the exposed flesh not wanting to give him any sort of infection. Malina nodded at his explanation of his torturing. "You must be a hit at Halloween."

With that said she was done. Nothing else needed to be said about that subject. "Look, as my contact I'm letting you know I'm going in tonight. I think I have a good idea where they're headed. If you don't hear from me do not come get me, but call Richard and tell him I'm dead. They'll find another to replace me."

6 hours later and Malina was dressed in all black combat gear. She snuck out of her hotel and headed into the woods being careful not to make any noise. She thought she was lost, but eventually she found a group of people and trailed them. She was right and had been led to the group. She sat back and waited for the activity to die down before she could make her move.

2 hours into the wait a strange car drove up. About time. Except the person who exited was a U.S. Senator. She saw him shake hands with Malik and enter into a tent. At least now she knew where Malik was, but what was the senator doing here. Malina managed to get close to the tent and she cut a small hole so she could listen.

"Dammit Malik. You weren't supposed to blow up the whole damn building."

"How else was I supposed to kill target? You come in here thinking you can tell me what to do. I have enough! You pay me now and I finish mission. The pentagon will crumble and then the white house. Anarchy will be yours and you will rule. We will get rich and be your bodyguards. Now go do what you do. Sit in office and wait for confirmation of plan's success." There was laughter and Malina sat up on her hunches. This was big. Real Big. Malina pulled out her cell phone and started to head back into the forest when she stopped staring at a gun barrel.

"What have we here?" Malina gulped and held her hands up.

Sam paused a moment looking to her as he immedly seemed to softly reel back feeling the touch of her hand as instinict. Hearing her comment he scoffed softly "Right..a real fucking hit.." He spoke looking to her "..fine..your call.." he responsed to her at her comment to work solo.

Malina was caught..the telltale sign of a pistol cocking was heard. Then a familer voice was heard "I just seem to have this talent of sneaking up on you eh?" It was the voice of Richard "Well..seems you came across a little something you should not have..." A smirk grew on his face as he spoke again "Though If I brought attetion to you..that animal Malik would have liked to have his way with you before you are executed..but I think I'll give you the more dingified dea.." his voice trailed off as the sound of gunshots was heard..she feeling hot blood splatter onto her face..richard dropped to the ground, the noise getting the attetion of Malik and the senators' bodygaurds, they turning to see Sam at Malina's side opening fire at them.

Richard?! Malina's whole world reel. How could the man whom she trusted with everything be setting her up. Malina could feel her mind going at 100 mph trying to connect the dots. Malik was a bad man, but was being set up by her government. She was supposed to kill Malik, but for some reason time had been on Malik's side and she had witnessed something she should not have. Now she was the one to die. She'll be just another nameless, unidentifiable, government-not-taking-responsibility-for-her-actions agent who went KIA and if she was lucky MIA. MIA meant people still hoped you were alive.

Malina gulped and closed her eyes her brain went into information overload. It was a lot to process. She couldn't even stand to look at Richard. How could he? He was going to kill her. She was a dead woman. She gulped again and jumped at the sound of gunfire. She felt blood on her and it took her 1/2 a second to realize it wasn't her. Another second to look up and see that Sam didn't take her advice.

"I said not to follow me." After a brief pause. "Thank you. We have to get out of here. Follow me." Malina ducked into the foliage and heard Sam following behind her. She twisted and turned so that they didn't break any branches and give away which direction they were headed. Malina was headed to a safe house. She didn't go into any situation without at least 1 back up safe house. She had built this thing herself before going in to see Sam and it would do though if she wanted it to be permanent she would need to do some restructure and a bit more to the foundation.

Malina went into the home and went straight to the weapon's cache. She threw a rifle at Sam and strapped one to herself and put a double barrel shotgun on the table. She picked up her secure laptop, plugged it in, and tried to access the agency network. Her password was denied. Malina scoffed and her fingers flew over the keys as she hacked her own system. She suddenly stopped and went very very still.

"I'm ... on the hit list. I've been black balled. Termed a rouge double agent. He must have did this before he came here. Richard has ... every hit man will be after me. My government ... I can't go home. I can't clear my name because I killed Richard. Everyone is going to think I did it. I ..." Malina was so shocked she couldn't move.

"Heh..well, they said I was not good at followin' orders" was Sam's response as he was behind her unloading bursts of his rifle at the persuing union of Malik's gaurds and former allies. During the fire fight he stumbled, causing the AK to be knocked out of his hand, landing on the ground "FUCK!" he cursed..he was unable to go back after it for obvious reasons so he went to draw a Colt .44 taking a few shots as he followed Malina, losing the group persuers in the jungle. Soon after, they were making their way to her safe house.

As Sam took a moment to rest and reload shells into his Magnum he looks to Malina as she hands him that spare rifle, he having a slight sneer on the good side of his face "M-16? Ain't my style darlin'..but I guess a weapons a weapon." he plucks it up, instiivly checking the clip and give the bolt a tug to keep the chamber clear before watching her on the computer..her face going into shock as she learned of Richard's planned forsight to hire assassins if he was not successful. Taking a moment to think, he put his strong hand on Malina's sholder "Look..can't go back yeah..but I know people here. I've hid here long enough to know my way around. Right now we gotta get a plan ready..I've been paired with ya, I'm gonna help get ya out of this."

Malina couldn't think. How could Richard do this to her? He was her contact, but most of all she thought they had some sort of friendship. He had set her up, but why? Why did he need her out of the way? Why send her here just to kill her off? So many questions with not enough answers. She needed to get back in the states and to Richard's apartment. The man had a secured computer that he stored everything on. Malina could bet her black ass he had some paperwork there. If they couldn't get there then she'll beat the fuck out of the Senator and find out something from him. Also they could just kill Malik. Fuck, she already knew what his role in this was.

Malina glanced at Sam. "Yeah, we can't stay here. They probably already have a bolo on us. Any natives that help up will probably get killed. Look, you can go back. I'm sure they don't suspect you, but me. I'm sure I'm on the top of the list." Malina felt so alone and betrayed. She couldn't believe this and knew she was about to go on a suicide mission. She reached up and pulled Sam's head down. She kissed his lips and didn't shudder even when she felt that half of his face was missing. Instead she deepened it sliding her tongue into his mouth before she pulled back. "Get out of here. This is my fight. I'll ... I'll figure something out."

Malina turned and opened a duffle bag. She chose her clothes carefully as she thought outloud. She would go back and see Malik. She'll try to catch the Senator, but if he leaves before she gets a chance to speak to him than she'll go to Richard's apartment. Everything so easy. If only the jungle wasn't searching for her, if her government wasn't searching for her, if only everything fucked up hadn't happened.

Sam paused as he watched her think perking up as she began to speak, he then responded "Ah..alright...I ain't abandoning you." he spoke softly looking to her "I in a way had a hand in dragging you into i.." he was cut off as he felt her take his face and kiss him deeply. He responded to her kiss with his own tounge rubbing onto hers..almost lost into it. Even if the side of his face was burnt and had no mouth on the side but he could taste her..feel her..even under all that thick scar tissue. She broke the kiss as he looked almost enchanted for a moment before softly speaking "..that was sudden Dar.." he then listened to her telling him to leave "No..I ain't abandoning ya..can't do that.." he spoke as he stood by her "Am in this deep."

Malina could only stare and shake her head. Hell, she wasn't going to refuse help twice. Hell, what she needed to do was go back while the majority of Malik's crew was looking for her in the jungle and take Malik down. It'll be easier with two people. "Okay. I'm not going to tell you to leave again." Malina went back to her computer and tried to see if she had any contacts or anything that could help her with this mess. With her head down and her fingers flying over the keys Malina had to say, "Thank you."

20 minutes later and Malina knew she was totally and completely on her own. "I have no help or anything. We're totally black balled. Or I am. Here's what I'm thinking. We go back to Malik's. Hopefully the Senator is still there and we can grab him and figure out this whole mess. It's a 30% chance he's still here so we'll just get Malik and get him to talk. It's a 60% chance we'll get anything concrete there so we'll have to go to Richard's apartment. We'll have to get passports, pass through customs, and sneak back into our own country, and probably into a well fortified apartment ... which I have a general location of."

Malina sighed. The whole situation seemed senseless. "Ready?"

Sam, silently listened as he then spoke softly "Your welcome..not gonna have ya twist in the wind." he spoke softly watching her work on the comptuer, face growing deeper and deeper in thought as venues began to close for her.. After she spoke up he nodded "Yeah..I know people that could get us out of the country discreet..alot of them former gun runners so they know how to go by borders without being spotted...as to getting back to Malik, I presume because of the ruckus we caused it caused the meeting to be moved someplace else..more heavly gaurded.." he began to think "..that or the senetor bugged out the moment he heard the gunfire..maliks gotta been informed about the attempt so he's gonna fortify himself.." after a pause he spoke again "Ready."

Malina nodded. She didn't have any problems getting out of this country. It was getting back into her own that gave her a bit of a pause. He had good points. The senator was probably spooked and gone, Malik was probably spooked and gone, and she had nothing. So which do you do. Go against a fortified terrorist or ...

"No. We'll leave. It makes more sense. We already know what Malik is here for. We need to track the Senetor down or Richard. Let's head to his apartment first and get all the information we can." Malina nodded and packed up her gear. She walked out of her safe house and torched it. She pulled out a bag and rifled through the various passports.

"We'll meet at the International Airport. I have already booked us tickets that have no name to them yet. The plane leaves in 2 hours. You just get whatever you need. Stay away from my hotel room. I'm sure they have an ambush already waiting and ready. Bye and thank you again." Malina started to run out into the jungle. She paused waiting to see if he had anything to say.
