What use is the United States Senate?

And Sanders is far less anti-American than any Trumper!
Politruk doesn’t form opinions from facts; he forms them in opposition to facts. If gravity were up for debate, he’d jump off a roof just to prove the ground was biased. Reality isn’t something he evaluates, it’s something he reflexively contradicts. If the truth walked in, sat down, and showed receipts, he’d still announce the opposite just to feel intellectually alive.

We all know -- including you -- that it's the RWs in America who are desperately committed to a black-is-white-night-is-day-2+2=5-your-lying-eyes-or-me worldview. It has been that way at least since 1964, and how many of us can remember further back than that? It only looks pathetic when you try turn that around.

The balance of power has worked well
No -- if that were true, the Civil War would not have happened.

And the existence of the Senate played an important part in causing it. Throughout the antebellum period, the highest priority of every Southern pol was to make sure there would be at least as many slave states as free states in the Union -- that way, no antislavery legislation could ever make it out of the Senate. That was the main motive behind the Mexican-American War. When it became clear new slave states would no longer be possible, then they seceded.
