What would Harry Potter's religion be?

The wizards celebrate Christian holidays, apparently just because they don't want to miss out on the fun muggles have. But Hogwarts, so far as the reader sees, has no chapel and no religious instruction classes. Harry has a godfather, which implies Christian baptism, but otherwise the wizards do not appear to be Christians -- nor do they have any pagan religion of their own.

It occurs to me wizards would be in a position to KNOW more than muggles about the truth or falsehood of religious doctrines.

But they do not appear to consider that whole side of human life important.

They celebrate Christmas, which used to be called Yule, a pagan holiday, and is still commonly referred to as such in much of Europe. In America, not as much, unless you run in neopagan circles.

Been awhile since my last reread but I’m reasonably sure it’s at least occasionally called Yule in the books.

Europeans remain in touch with the ancient holidays millennia after Christianization. Midsummer remains a traditional gathering day in many European countries and a formal holiday in the Nordics. Most Americans don’t even know what it is.

Wiccan has as much in common with the Harry Potter universe as love does with the Twilight one. :D
Even stranger, the wizards appear to be completely ignorant of the whole tradition of Western Esotericism. Aleister Crowley?! Who's that?!

Terry Pratchett once wrote, "Witches didn't believe in gods. It was like believing in the postman."
