Really unhappy with the way the chicken and dumplings turned out this evening. Great chicken in tasty sauce/gravy but studded with tasteless and disappointing rolled dumplings.

May try poultry seasoning in the dough next time as I saw that in a recipe a few days ago.

Hm. Did you cook the dumplings in chicken stock?

Pulled barbecue rabbit sandwiches with onion, pickle and cheddar cheese.

This looks really good! Did you make the buns yourself too? They look lusciously soft.

I just put a tortano in the oven. I put garlic in the dough and filled it with roasted eggplant, sun dried tomatoes, chevre, sauteed red onion and basil.

I used an actual recipe for the dough this time instead of just winging it like I usually do, and the dough ended up being really clingy somehow. As a result the tortano looks gross because it was so difficult to shape, but I hope it'll still taste good. It better, I have people coming over and I have no back up plan for what to serve them if this doesn't work out.

Edit: It turned out okay. It's not very pretty, but it tasted good and was great with the simple salad I made.

No, the buns were store bought. And, despite being day old, they were delightfully soft.

Banana-gram pancakes. You call them that because they're made with graham flour. Lots of syrup and maybe some walnuts or pecans. Unless you're five - then I made you cinnamon roll pancakes from Denny's (it's in a box). Sorry I didn't... take a picture.

Surprise dinner cooked by MF tonight. He has turned the music up so I don't hear all the noise from the pots and pans! *Thinks of the washing up*

Looking forwards to eating it, we have wine glasses as well. :)

Left over short ribs sliced and cooked in taco spice for steak tacos.

Nom. Nom.

battered patty pan, skillet fried, the first of the green beans and possibly the last of the broccoli, mince deer sautéed with tomato and onion. There was a soy diluted bit of peanut sauce for the squash, I'm packed

I'm preparing for a picnic tomorrow. I'm using what I have on hand so I'm making egg salad sandwiches, inarizushi, and marinated mushrooms. This feels incomplete so I'm thinking of what I can make to accompany this mishmash of foods. I did buy a small bar cake for dessert, so maybe this is already more than enough for two people.

Well, well, well! Bacon, he said.

Must mean you've done something right this week because everything is better than bacon. :D

Psssst....Tingle...Maybe you'll get lucky later after a glass of wine. ;);)

Just a suggestion. I like finger food with a sandwich, olives, pickles, cherry tomatoes, etc.

Fruit with cheese as an appetizer or sliced fruit (or fruit salad if possible) with the cake.

This may belong in the "what pissed you off" thread.

I cooked the 12 bean soup so long the smaller beans disappeared. I think it will end up being a 5 bean soup instead. But of course the damn Lima beans never cook away. Nasty things!

:) Thank you.

I ended up making tsunomono with a cucumber because it needed to be used. I went over it and I think we will have way more food than we can eat. Well, I don't have much of an appetite so it will probably be too much.
