What's Your Scent?

We're just talking about shaving, that is so unsexy.

nooo it's not.. it might be an every day or everyother day.. otherwise mundane task for you.. but between the scents, the way the blade.. or trimmer in your case slides over the skin, the fingers sliding, examining the skin afterwords and then finishing off with the lotion massaged into the skin...

ok.. maybe I'm weird.. but I just find it sensual

It's the way the hair grows in some places like on the neck, it tends to lay against the skin and if I shave with a blade the hair irritates the skin as it grows out. I'll have bumps within hours and it's just not worth the baby smooth shave. I get just the right closeness with the trimmer with no guard and then I just exfoliate after I trim up and some moisturizer. Makes for happy skin :)

Okay, I'm with you there. I have areas that are like that and I jus don't shave them as closely. I also shave every other day at best. If I shaved every day, my skin would be a wreck.

What trimmer do you use?

I disagree. I just put on the emulsion and it just feels good, silky smoth against my skin, and smells incredible. I'm fresh out of the shower, so I'm hot, still a bit damp and going to have some clean sweat. I get the blade hot as I can and start to slide it over my skin. The emulsion takes all of the scraping away, leaving it to just slide smoothly, no resistance. It's almost a sexual feeling.

As the blade travels on my skin, the emulsion and water and sweat builds up, and sometimes it starts to run down, trailing over my cheek onto my neck and down into the hair on my chest. It's warm and silky still, and is a wonderful sensation.

I finish the shave feeling fresh, and clean, and new, and messy as hell, and towel off vigourously, feeling like a new man. "v" has gotten her brains fucked out numerous times after a shave, simply because it makes me feel So. Damned. Good.

I can see how it would be unsexy with an electric razor though, so I certainly don't disagree with your comment from your perspective.

At the moment, I smell like clorox bleach, Purex Laundry Detergent, Tresseme Hair Conditioner, Nuetrogena Facial Scrub, and Sun Flower Perfume
......topped off with just a hint of roasted pork.

Just did some laundry.
Followed by a shower...
I'm now finishing eating my lunch. :)

Shampoo/conditioner? I am having problems getting ones I like/ or like me here, and most irritate his nose, so we are still experimenting. Used to use Pantene in Oz and when I first came here until I was told by several hairdressers what it does to your hair over time. Have tried Neutral, but it doesn't agree with my hair.

What does it do to your hair if you use if over an extended period of time? Curious, because I like it best.

Soap: Ivory
Shampoo/Conditioner: Pantene for curly hair
Lotion: Curel
Deodorant: Secret Unscented Gel
Perfume/Cologne? Bath and Body Works Breathe Romance

I like cinnamon-y toothpastes versus minty ones. They don't make your coffee taste all wonky.

If you really want to strip all the gunk out of your hair....rinse with apple cider vinegar once a month. It's what my stylist has me to to avoid styling/conditioner buildup. i have horribly thick/curly hair and it takes a lot of product to make it manageable.

Except for the shaving thing, this seems so much like a woman's thread. I'm pretty simple, when it comes to these things. I just strive to be clean. And, I can't stand some smells, as others have already stated. Some perfumes bother me so much, I can't even breath.

As for shaving, the Mach 3 is my choice, too. Never could get an electric to shave as close. And, I've tried other razors...even those with the same number of blades the M3 has (three, if you haven't figured that out yet). But, it seems to be something about the weight of the razor, too. Anyway, it works for me.

Oh, and for the record...I've found on my neck, which has hair that grows differently than my facial hair does, I have to first shave with the direction of hair growth, before shaving against the hair growth. And even then, I need to be careful with how fast I go. If not, I'll end up with a bloody irritated mess that might last for several days.

But, if I use this method, I end up with a baby smooth face and neck, ready for kissing even the most sensitive areas of a woman's body. No razor stubble for me...not for a few hours, anyway.

From what all the hairdressers have told me, the lovely silky feel you get is due to silicone coating the hair...over time apparently that damages the hair, and they all told me makes dying your hair (and also perming etc., if you are wanting curls) so unpredictable and likely to failure most of them won't do it. I have only had my hair coloured twice, but each time I go to hairdressers in Oz (haven't tried them here as yet), the first thing they ask is what shampoo is used regularly, and if you don't mention Pantene, my experience is they then ask you directly if you use it followed by an explanation of why they are asking and why they don't want to do anything other than wash and trim if you use it.

Women are much more likely to key into scent than men. Aside from Betticus and myself apparently

than I am weird too ... :)

since I was a little girl I have been fascinating by the shaving ritual, (especially if they use shaving soap and brush instead of spray cans) and I loved to just sit and watch my father shave ...

Back to the topic:

Don't use much scented products, but LOVE my grapefruit scented body soap ...
(did you know that it supposed to make women look 3years younger in the men's eyes? ... read it somewhere ...)

I'm sick, so at the moment, I can't smell a thing.

Soap? Burt's Bees Grapefruit and ginger wash (I think - ginger and something fruity)
Shampoo/conditioner? Aveda be curly, and Kheil's coconut conditioner
Lotion? whatever - not usually scented
Deodorant? dove
Perfume/Cologne? variety - but kate spade or Caroline Herrera's 121 - marc jacobs at night

Soap? Dove

Shampoo/conditioner? Herbal Essences , the pink one for colored hair

Lotion? The Sancutary of London Spa Mandelular body souffle. Makes my skin silky soft as well as having the wonderful scents of exotic spices. If I'm feeling exceptionally extravagent - The Sanctuary of London Spa Kyphi Body Lotion (lotus oil and illipe butter)

Deodorant? Nivea Pearl

Perfume/Cologne? Depends on my mood. My signature scent is Sicily by D&G. I also have bottles of Ange ou Demon by Givenchy and Armani Code
