Too often, this becomes an issue for women who won't ever be happy (or less demanding) until they get what they want anyway.

With those women, Seacat's point (more ideal, than realistic in my view) may be right, but is still impossible. I'm sure this is true with men too; not meaning to be sexist or to generalize. But I've already come to see this with women (eight and a half million imes, give or take... say, one.... ;) ). It's the old concept of, true about both, but women just happen to be my problem, so I'm bound to notice it more.

Q_C,

unfortunately there are both men and women like this. We meet them all the time but don't classify them. That idiot who is always right by the water cooler. The pissant who kisses up to the boss and thinks they know everything about everything. Some politicians.

My point, which you think is more idealistic than realistic is workable. It all depends on the people involved. Maybe I'm different and incredibly lucky in my marriage but other than in purely physicaly defined roles my wife and I are equal. (These roles are such things as giving birth, lifting, breast feeding, etc.) We are equals. As I've said here before our money goes into a joint account. Bills are paid by who ever opens them. Large decisions are tackled by the two of us together. We have worked these things out, which is most likely why our marriage has lasted for almost 13 years. (Before you ask, no we're not perfect. We still manage to get into our fights.) I think the difference between us and too many other people is we were taught from an early age to think for ourselves, and to respect other peoples thoughts and ideas.

That's what I meant by ideal. Possible, but rare, simply because too many people either are hard to see thru in order to see the traits that would make such a situation unworkable, or because people tend to see what they want to see. I understand your point, and congratulate you on your success. i just don't believe most people will be given the chance to experience many relationships that truly are actual relationships. I think you know what I mean...

Call me faithless (that's my favorite term for me ;) ).

We must work on that... Everyone must have faith in something... or somebody...

Actually I think it would be more "Once bitten twice shy"?

Here's hoping you find what I have. (Hell here's hoping many others find what I have.)

Wow...i got a wink and some ice-cream just appeared before me as if though by magic.
Am I ever glad I moved out from under that rock and into the swamp...always looks good looking up from the mud.

Get your ice cream yet?

Alas...I am still ice-cream-less...
Perhaps we don't always just GET what we want...
I guess we have to actually go after it ourselves. ;)

I love being a girl!
