Jessica Matthews stopped the car in front of the old rundown looking bookstore her friend had told her about. She groaned as the car sputtered threatening to die again on her,she had not had a very good week and now her car was going. Her fiancee had finally told her about cheating with a stripper 2 days earlier and left her. It wouldn't have been so bad but the wedding was the following weekend. She had to call an uninvite everyone telling them why and sending back all the bridal gifts. She just wanted to curl up with a tub of Ben and Jerry's ice cream and read a good book. She turned the car off and slid from the car, walking slowly into the store.

The atmosphere was dusty and relaxed, somehow she didnt think it got much business with the new strip mall a mile away. She gave the old woman behind the counter a small smile as she moved along the rows of book. There were shelves over-flowing,books stacked on the floor and tables, she suddenly felt very comfortable here. The old woman moved to her side and smiled at her, wrinkles circled her mouth from age. Jessica returned her smile without thinking, lifting an old book from the shelf. "Are you looking for anything in particular? The woman asked her in a soft motherly voice. She held several books in her arms as she stood there next to Jessica.

Jessica shrugged her shoulders as she replaced the book she had looked at,then turned to the woman. "I'm not sure, its one of those bad days where I just want to crawl under the bed."She said suddenly wondering where that reply had come from. Frwoning she turned away, not wanting a stranger to know her bad week. The soft laugh met her ears making her look over her shoulder at the woman."He broke your heart, did he?"She tsked and shook her head as she sat the books she held down. "Men dont know how good a woman they have until they are gone."She continued as she began looking across the shelves. She let out a whoop when she foound what she wa looking for.

"here, sweetie. Take this one. Its a romance but one from the heart."The woman said as she handed the ragged looking book to Jessica. Jessica took the book,it looked like any romance book. It was a Highlander book called Highland Warrior. She looked over at the woman, whos eyes sparkled as she watched Jessica."True love is beyond time or place."The woman said as she walked back to the counter humming softly.Jessica followed her and pulled out her checkbook. "No,no charge. You look like you need a good read and rest. take it and enjoy."The wooman said smiling and shaking her head at her offer to pay.

Jessica took the ook and gave the woman a smile as she left the store, climbing into her car she turned the key,and nothing happened. Jessica groaned and dropped her head onto the steering wheell after several atempts to start it failed.Jessica slid from the car and walked back into the store, looking around she didnt see the old woman. A young girl came from between the rows. "Can I help you?"She asked like she was bored. Jessica looked aorund once more before looking at the girl."Umm..the woman that I was just talking too..Is she still here."She asked the girl.

The girl gave her a surprised look and shook her head."umm..I'm the only one working here today. There sint noone else."She answered giving Jessica a look that said she was crazy. Jessica blinked and looked down at the book still in her hand then around the store. "No,she just gave me this book, not more than 10 minutes ago."The girl stepped away from Jessica as if she was going to go postal on her."Look,Lady..Im the only one here and it is closing time."She said letting Jessica know it was time to go.

Jessica left the store, confused. Was she losing it,was she that depressed? She slid once more inside of her car and gave a silent prayer before turning the key,it sputtered to a start. Putting the car in gear she headed home to the waiitng ice cream and book sitting beside her.She pulled into her driveway 20 minutes later and hurried into her small house. It wasnt much but it was hers. She kicked the door closed and tossed her purse on the couch. She hurried into the bathroom and changed into her nightgown. The ice cream in hand she curled up on her bed and opened the book.(Continued next post)

The book was about a Highland clan leader, fighting for his family. The typical stuff, boy finds and falls in love with girl. jessica yawned as she read about Keirnan MacGregor and his story of love. Sometime during the 5th or 6th chapter Jessica closed the book and slid underneath her cover, pulling them up around her. Soon sleep pulled her deeply, her dreams began to grow brighter as she slept. She dreamed she was running through a lush field, her barefeet sliding on the wet grass in the early morning. She slid and fell to her knees and bit back a cry.

The yells of the men behind her grew closer, rising to her feet she began to run faster. The trees ahead of her hopefully would provide shelter, turning quickly she darting to the left. Her body slammed hard into the trunk of a tree that hadnt been there a second ago.She wasnt small standing about 5 foot 6 her hair hung past her shoulders in a black cascade, her blue eyes blinked quickly as she fell backwards. She grunted as she landed on her backside and looked up. The sun was blocked out by the tree in front of her. It was no tree...she paniced when she realised it was the Highlander from her book. Kiernan Macgregor..she was no longer just reading the book....she was now living the book.

****Need one guy to play Kiernan,a tall muscular highlander from her book,it will be a story of a girl from the real world trying to adjust and live in his world. He will think her crazy at first but as time goes along they will fall in love..will she go back to her time or stay with him when that choice arises..only time will tell. No one liners,at least one good paragraph per day..send me an IM and an intro bio and description then we will go from there if it suits what I am looking for.****

Kiernan Macgregor felt something hit him from behind which caused him to cast his arrow hard to the right... missing the deer entirely that he had been stalking for 2 hours. It was not that he had to stalk the deer... he just enjoyed learning about the creature that he would feed off of in the light of the moon and fire. He watched helplessly as the deer shot a frightened look at him and then darted away... his dinner escaping for the night! Kiernan spun around and said, "That is just great... do you not see where you walk maiden?!?!?"

The woman looked horribly frightened... horribly so!!! He could see her back off as he turned to face her fully. He wore his kilt of multitone browns... which had a upper sash that ran over his left shoulder. A cloth tan shirt and leather hand crafted boots finished his attire... along with his long straight sword hanging from it's sheath on the right... and his dual daggers that hung from the sash of his kilt. His hair was long and brown, his eyes blue, his jaw square and his skin toned, save for some smudge on his face and the rest of his bare skin!

He could see her terror and he said, "Be at ease woman... I won't harm you...."

The voices rang out from the woods behind her and he glanced at her, "You are being hunted?" His accent was thick and very Saxon...

She said nothing as she shot a glance past the trees towards the 6 men that came through the thick underbrush... stopping only when they saw Kiernan. One of them...a man the warrior had known as Hoyt barked, "Kiernan! That woman! She was found stealing from my farms!!"

"And it takes 6 men to hunt a single woman?!?!?!" Kiernan said stepping past the strange woman and the band of men.

"She is a thief!!! Look! Even now she is running!!" Hoyt barked as they turned and saw her stand up and race away... clearly terror stricten.

Kiernan said, "Return to your farms men... I will find her and straighten this mess out..."

"What gives you the rig...." Hoyt barked and then paused... seeing the glare from the massive warriors eyes... Hoyt sunk his shoulders and said, "I want her to pay for what she has stolen by night fall or I will take this to the magistrate!!!"

"By nightfall it will be... now go..." Kiernan said... as the men turned and headed back into the brush... the man said, "Now... to find her once again..." He darted into the trees... taking her last path... he was a hunter and a tracker... finding a scared woman in the woods would be no problem...

Jessica felt her chest heaving as she ran,she was no thief. She had not stolen anything, they had tried to assault her and she had fought back. Now the giant of a man,the one they had called Kiernan was after her. She darted through the trees, branches catching and snagging in her hair as she ran. Her hands out in front of her to try and prevent them from smacking her in the face. She stopped suddenly when the forest cleared, her feet slid just shy of the drop off.

The cliffs dropped out in front of her over the pounding surf below. Her eyes wide at how close she had come to falling to her death. Whipping her head around as she heard the man behind her nearing, she looked frantically around for anything to use as a weapon. She grabbed a large piece of timber and held tightly to it as she turned to face her approaching follower.

She tried to figure out how the hell she had gotten here, she was lying in her bed reading..then she was here. The man from the cover of the book now chasing her. She couldnt figure it out,she must be asleep still...dreaming. Her eyes raised as the one they called Kiernan broke through the trees before her. She had to look up at him just to meet his eyes. He made her feel like a small child by his sheer size and brawn. She took a deep breath and held the limb out in front of her.

"I didn't steal anything...they are lying."She said as her voice trembled. " I dont even know where I am..." She said lifting the limb higher as he drew closer not afraid to swing it at him if she had too.

"I didn't steal anything...they are lying."

He already knew they clansmen had been lying... this was no thief... though why he had no idea. Perhaps it was about her garb she wore...

" I dont even know where I am..."

Again, something told him she spoke the truth. She was so out of place with her attire, her disorientation, her confusion. She acted like a creature on the run versus the a thief on the run.

He stepped towards her and watched her swing the branch at him! He literally slid to the side, catching her wrist, spinning her till her back pressed into his chest, the branch pressed across her neck... pinning her arms up to her head in the process.

Kiernan looked down at her and said, "If you want to prove you are not a thief... let go of the branch... I can't trust a person who wants to hurt me..."

He watched her closely, waiting for her fingers to eventually loosen on the branch and he tossed it aside. He spun her slowly back towards him and said, "Who are you?" He looked down at her as he let her go and let her sit down on the ground...

Jessica gasped for breath as she sank to the ground, the branch now lying useless on the ground within easy reach if she needed it. She looked up at the giant of a man who had caught her. Her eyes huge with her fear. "My name is Jessica...Jessica Matthews."She whispered as she looked frantically around her trying to figure this all out.

"I don't know how I got here. I was asleep in my bed..then I was here..you were on the cover of my book I was reading..."She knew she was babbling like an idiot but didnt know what else to say.

She scooted back a few yards and then stood slowly, her hands wiping across the front of her pajama bottoms, her tank top lifted from her belly baring her navel before she pulled it down. Her bare feet dirty from the forest floor. Her hair tassled and knotted from the branches. She knew she probably looked as mad as she sounded. "Those men..they..they tried to rape me."She finally stammered out as she looked quickly towards the trees half expecting those men to appear.

She let out a soft gasp as several men broke through the trees, but these men wore the same colored kilt that the man before her did. The same colored tartan across thier chests and just a massive. They had to be brothers with their features almost identical with just few differences among them. The small woman that pushed past one of them hurried towards Jessica.

"Och...move out of the way ye oaf. Kinnae see ye have scared her silly."The pretty little raven haired woman said as she moved to Jessica's side and touched her arm softly. "Dinnae be afraid..these giants are harmless."She said looking back at all of the men. One of the men that had entered cleared his throat and eyed the small woman.

"Wife..ye have nae right to be here."He growled as he stepped forward towards them stopping next to the giant that had caught her. Jessica was overwelmed as the men stood around her,the woman wrapped and arm around her and then Jessica's world went black. She slumped into the woman's arms in a dead faint from all the excitement of the night.

Kiernan watched her carefully as the midwife of the clan leaned in and took care of the ... well the closest he could think of to call this woman was a witch... He said, "What is that which she wears?"

"Some kinda cloth..." the midwife said as she checked the woman's eyes, her teeth... "Have ya ever seen a set of teeth like these? so clean and pretty... and what is this?" She reached down and noticed a piercing which ran through her belly button. She said, "What kind of beast of stick metal into them?"

She is some kind of spook... or leprechan... something unnatural..." the men all began to suggest... the general consensus was that she was some kind of creature... but only time would tell... as the midwife quickly pointed out...

"Dunna be ridiculous!!! She is just a woman!" the midwife said... "Scared and alone..."

Kiernan had no answers... he only said, "We will take her back to the village... you can take care of her there..."

"It would bring bad luck to the clan! We shouldna do it!" one of them yelled... which was quickly met with consensus by the rest of the men...

Kiernan said, "We will take her to the village... that is the end of it..."

He walked towards the woman who called herself Jessica and reached down and flung her over his shoulder. The clansmen turned and headed back towards the village...

Halfway there however, Jessica woke up... and she was not happy!!!

Jessica stirred, the solid thumping against her stomach made her want to throw-up. hse shifted trying to make the movement stop, her bed was never this lumpy or...moved. Her eyes flew open as she stared and the broad back meeting her gaze. Her cry was cut off with another jolt and she reacted blindly. Her elbow came upward and back, connecting with a hard shoulder.

"Let me down! Damint...let me go!" She cried out in short gulps ,her legs scissoring up and her toes connected painfully with a stomach...a very hard stomach. She grunted in pain but continued her struggles, trying to remember her self defense classes she had taken.

Her hand reached up and wrapped into a fistful of hair and yanked, the growl almost made her smile until she was painfully dropped. Her body landing in a heap before she began to crawl backwards looking up at the men she had ran into earlier. Her eyes wide with fear as she tried to find somewhere to run too. She jumped when th soft touch of a female broke through her mind.

"Easy, lass. We willnae harm you."The voice was soft and reassuring as Jessica let her eyes move from the men to the woman kneeling next to her, protectivly between herself and the men. "they look fiercer than what they kin be."the woman turned and glared at the men, several stepped backwards at the smaller womans glance. The one she had fought still loomed over them, glaring down at her, fire in his eyes.

Kiernan had fought foes of many shapes and sizes and had often found himself most wary to the smaller ones as they tended to fight with less honor than most. He had been foolish to assume this one would be know different. He dropped her and spun around, still filling the sting of his long hair being pulled hard and his stomach being kicked.

He said nothing as he watched the mother try and calm her. Unforntunately, it only seemed to upset her even more. He could see her scampering back... trying to get as much distance between her and them.

When she was about to get to her feet, he saw she was about to sprint back into the jungle and cursed, "We do'na have time for this!" He closed the gap and caught her by the hair, spinning her hard, pushing her back into his broad chest and wrapping his thick arm around waist, pinning her hands to her side! He threw another massive hand to her mouth clamping down on her!

He said, "Listen lass... I say this one time... you can come with us... get food, water, pretection and rest... or you canna take your chances out there in the forest with those that want to hurt you! Either way, I do'na care what you decide... but we are leaving..."

With that, he released her body and walked around her and to the rest of the clan. He said, "Let's go... " He turned to their clan mother and said, "All of us... Now..."

Kiernan was the leader and his decision was made. The only way to change his mind at this point was to challenge him for leadership... for which no one in their clan would ever do... not because they were afraid of him... but because his decisions have always been of sound and always in the best interest of the clan... he was a good leader and everyone needed him there.

He turned and continued his journey through the wilderness, quickly followed by his clansmen... and finally bring up the rear, their clan mother... Kiernan didn't make a move or react at all when he heard the leaves crunching of one untrained in the woods racing up from behind them say, "wait... please..."
