For what it's worth, I hope Kerry keeps his mouth shut and let the Rethugs hang themselves over this issue. Most everyone knows that the Democratic Party stands for fairness and equality-and Kerry most of all, know this as well. The Rethugs are trying to make DOMA an election year issue thinking that the Vote will come down to that one issue. Unfortunately ,there are several other issues that will definitely compete with the issue of
who is marrying whom and what are the "acceptable" holes in which to express love. This is ridiculous, feed the Rethugs some more rope and they will indeed hang...
The Trend is towards liberalization of marriage laws and in good time, when the time is right and the stars are aligned properly,Kerry or some future president will sign into law thus overiding any silly Amendment that furthers hate in this country.
Let's concentrate in getting back the White House and the Senate
majority (House too) then we can talk. Remeber, this proposed
amendment shall here on be called the "Hate Amendment" and people of all persuasions will eventually come realize this.

It continually amazes me how people think they can read someone's mind based on what they post.

Alright I would like to know exactly how you would go about constructively criticizing you on this topic if what I have said is not constructive. I know you were joking in the thread I referenced earlier about Transexual pronouns, however many people are touchy about that subject, and it is basic manners to assume that they are going to be unless you are given some indication to the contrary, which none existed in that thread. The reason I posted here is because you have claimed in this thread that you have never done anything wrong, you have attacked both myself and Pookie. Now I do have to say Pookie has gotten emotional in this thread, and thrown some accusations your way. I never said you were an asshole, I never said you were a bad poster, and I will rephrase my comment about your not taking other people's emotions into account. I cannot read your mind, I think it is better put that you post things that could easily stir up negative emotions in other people, and don't care enough not to post them. You may well care, I can't read your mind, but you post anyway. The only thing I was hoping from these posts is perhaps that you would admit that you have said things that could be taken the wrong way. And you may think people who are touchy about their emotions have . . oh how did you put it? . . issues. But part of basic manners is allowing people to have those issues, and not tromping all over them. It would be awfully adult of you to admit that perhaps you have rubbed some people the wrong way. No one is expecting you to be a saint, and I have seen people jump down your throat on threads you did not necesserily deserve it, but I do have to say that the reason they do that is because of posts they have witnessed on other threads. Generally speaking if a lot of people get pissed off at you, no matter how much you think it is for no reason, logic dictates, that even if it isn't a completely fair reason, there is a reason.

As far as the thread you linked, I don't recall you criticizing anyone else for being insensitive there. Last time I checked, this board supports freedom of speech, does it not? That means I may post whatever I want as long as it isn't a flame or racist, sexist, etc. or intentionally controversial. I have never posted with the intent of hurting anyone's feelings or "tromping all over" them.

You continue to accuse me of posting apathetically, but that's just not true. I always consider the content of my posts, to determine what it might make others think (although what goes on in thier minds is thier business and responsibility and I think it is unfair to hold someone else responsible for those thoughts, I don't force people to read my posts), and to decide whether it says what I want it to say. I have no control over what others may think about a few words on a webpage and if they don't like what they see they can change the page or turn it off. That's what I do. I don't expect people to change thier opinions or views or even the fact that they express them. Last time I checked the Internet did not have any Thought Police. I refuse to censor myself merely because someone is so insecure with thier own identity that they take offense where no offense was intended.

In any case, can either of you convince yourselves to discuss the real issue here? Or are you having too much fun harassing me?
