Genetics first because without the fast twitch muscle fibers and optimum skeletal/physical construction, you aren't going to be a sprinter.

Evolution is next. Hussein Bolt is the fastest man alive (or was). Evolutionary geneticists say that he is approx 5-7 generations faster than his peers. What they mean to say is that in 5-7 generations, those sprinters will be as fast as he is now.

What's interesting is that within 2 generations there are sprinters who are rivaling him. Evolution has a way of changing the odds and making things unpredictable when it comes to physical abilities.

Third is chance. The kid was the fastest THAT DAY, on THAT TRACK, in THAT FIELD of competitors. Change any variable and things might be different.

I looked up Valeriy Borzov , the last white guy to win the 100 meter dash in the 1972 Olympics, his time was 10.0. He was 23 years old when he did. Bolling is 18 and has run a 9.9. Save injury his best years are ahead of him, but he has a ways to go to get into Bolt's league.
