Not sure if i see HRC as someone who was trying to ride her husbands coattails, I'd actually have to argue she was planning her own presidential run as far back as during the time of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Because any normal woman would rip their cheating, philandering husband a new one rather than go with the "stand by my man" route.

Yeah; I can see it—kinda, but still I figure she'd help make him pres first—stand by her man, so to speak—and if it works, she'd keep the dynasty going. If so, it almost worked.

I see her as a lesser evil than Trump, but not by much. Much better than either were Stein and Johnson.

That was pretty much her strategy in 2016. "You gotta vote for me....just look at the other guy, for Christ's sake!"

SMH

Oh, is that what Melania is doing?
She's regretting not being raised in Haiti. There, she might have learned voodoo, and how to make little dolls of Donnie to stick pins into. But now she's the glittering bird in the golden cage. We don't hear her sing.

I think the point is that "stand by your man" is pretty much the political norm--unless of course you've already decided to demonize and harass Hillary Clinton, because, you know, you are scared spitless of her and know that she's a whole lot smarter than you are.

And I'm pretty sure she decided she was running for president, Bill or no, sometime back when she was at Wellesley and Yale.

It can be difficult sometimes. I've followed her history and am disappointed how she "evolved". She began catering to things she should have distanced herself from - an overzealous feminist in some ways. Her and Bill's marriage is/was one of mutual political advantages than real love. Maybe he fucked up doing whatever he did w/Monika Lewinsky. It overshadowed more important things.

They complimented each other so well for so long in the political arena. I think he did some great things and most of that has been overlooked. She backed him for so long hiding in the shadows. I liked it when she broke out on her own. But she somehow lost her dignity I thought was so wonderful. Somewhere along the way she changed and became angry and power hungry on a self serving mission.

I was actually hoping their daughter would eventually pick up the mantel. I don't see Chelsea dropping her hat into the ring anytime soon.

I don't buy the idea HRC is smart, because if she were, she would have made the concession speech after the 2016 election to reassure her supporters and she'd have those supporters for her next presidential run. Then again you can't blame her for dissapearing if the 2016 election broke her spirit. If what i heard of the spending numbers on the 2016 election are true that would be humiliating.

You are probably right though about when she decided to run for president, because maybe i gave her too much credit thinking she may have had other aspirations at some point.

I do feel a little bad for Chelsea Clinton because she might have been sweet and innocent at some point but now she has her parents to deal with. Because i think she did help out with some political speeches at some point or another.

I'm sure Chesea is set for life when it comes to money. But the stuff she's had to put up with growing up in the White House? *shakes head*

Plugging my chapter.

Melania Trump
https://chyoa.com/chapter/Melania-Trump.382835

Because of this and other revelations, Trump has become the least popular president ever in American history. Oh the alt-right still remains a formidable force, but typical of right-wingers, if they see a sign of weakness, if there's a drop of blood in the water, they go into a frenzy. They did it to Thatcher—a far more eminent leader, and they do it to Trump.

Unfortunately for her, Melania is tied to this anchor. While she won't file for divorce—let him initiate it, she gets more independent. Also, the big 5-0 is drawing close.

She wants to do something that'd unambiguously assert her independence from Trump, to show the hateful alt-righters that she got something most of those losers ain't got, and get more attention than her step-daughter who thinks she's raising the next US president.

But what?

What has Melania Trump got?

Regular intelligence.

She's multilingual.

The ability to copy and recite others' speeches.

Oh yeah, and a nice body—particularly for a quadragenarian.

Time to show it.

She intends be a First Lady who'll be remembered: like Jackie.

Someone's smartness is based on one speech they make? You consider that the key to smartness? Is that smart?

That she had any intention, at her age and mental state (not to be confused with crazy), on election night to ever do this again is just speculation on your part and anyone else's who can't give a favorite target up. You all just don't want to lose your favorite piñata--which is self-evident by the continuing attacking of her and the deflection to her whenever one the multitude of Trump sins is pointed to.

Like the "Lock her up" mantra. Who are the most likely folks to be locked up from all of this, including ones already acknowledging guilt to try to cut down on the time their asses spend in federal prison?

New one to add to the list: Richard Painter, who is now running for Al Franken's old seat as a Democrat!

I never made that insuation, I was refering to the reasons behind a person's actions.

Mr. KeithD suffers from a common plague known as "Political Chicken Flu". It's supposedly only temporary and should pass quickly. However, a select few are forever cursed with it in the hereafter.

I don't care who. Anyone who is a progressive will get my vote. We are living under multiple quasi slavery laws at the moment and something's gotta give. Can't declare bankruptcy with the student debt while never being able to get out of retail jobs for the foreseeable future, the private prison population being exploited for labor, Obamacare, pretty much a republican healthcare plan (seriously, we need something better than Obamacare - single payer).

So no more trickle down economics from the republicans and no more incremental change from the democrats. I have had enough.
