Who Invented Palestinian Nationalism and Why? | Explained

The United Nations Human Rights Council has voted on a resolution to fund a biased, one-sided “Commission of Inquiry” meant to demonize and delegitimize the state of Israel, labeling it an “Apartheid state.” Unbeknownst to many of us, this mendacious screed was concocted in Moscow during the Cold War, with the assistance of the Soviet propaganda machine. We are honored to host Colonel Richard Kemp, of the Royal British Army.

Israel has controlled, and carved up, the Occupied Territories far longer than the British Mandate. You may recall Jewish terrorism against Brits and others

Instead of me listing hundreds of official discriminatory laws/policies explicitly differentiating Jews and Palestinians -- major things -- how about you give AN EXAMPLE how it's not aparteid?

Answer: for more than thousand years the Ottomans recognized regional differences

Israel is an aparteid

Arab citizens of Israel have the same rights as Jewish ones. Contrast with real apartheid states like Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Iran.

Possibly not, but the Moslems have been trying to exterminate the Israelis for almost eight decades now, and have lost more land every year. Unless the Moslems give up on their attempts at genocide, they'll have to relinquish Gaza, Judea and Samaria and, who knows, even more territory. Maybe not in my lifetime, or yours. But eventually. Unless the Moslems give up on their attempts to exterminate the Jews.
My hope is that the massive failure of the Gaza war will finally convince the Islamists that jihad is doomed and the only way forward for Islam is for it to live up to the slogan "the religion of peace" and coexist with Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

I don't think I'll see it in my lifetime, but the current path the Muslim world is on is unsustainable. Oil riches can't keep propping this up forever.

So tell the left to stop talking about Palestine as if it were a real state.
Any state is real if the international community recognizes it -- and most governments do recognize Palestine -- is everybody out of step but Sammy?

Statehood is a matter of defined legal criteria, not just popularity or diplomatic endorsements. According to the Montevideo Convention (1933), widely accepted as the standard for statehood, a state must possess: a permanent population, a defined territory, a government, a Capacity to enter into relations with other states. Recognition by other states is political and discretionary, but does not create statehood absent these criteria. Sammy isn’t “out of step”, your claim is.

Palestine has all those.

That's not what I read in the OT.
The Torah has passages claiming that the victories of Israel over the other Canaanite tribes were caused by God's will.

But neither the Torah nor the Talmud contain anything remotely resembling the message of Mohammed about jihad--that dying fighting the infidel guarantees immediate access to paradise. Jihad has always been a win/win proposition. Succeed and live and you get worldly honors and plunder. Fail and die and you receive even greater rewards in the afterlife.

Not gonna happen.

As of September 2025, the State of Palestine is recognized as a sovereign state by 157 of the 193 member states of the United Nations (UN), or just over 80% of all UN members.

Genocidal Israel's pogrom against Gaza this year has had one enormous unexpected consequence: Both Democrats and MAGA have at long last begun wondering exactly what is America doing sending four billion dollars in "foreign aid" to a corrupt Israeli regime.

The classic Israeli responses of playing the victim, vilifying the opposition and sending money to decision makers in Washington DC are no longer effective, which does not bode well for Israel.

Israel will not likely last very long if/when America turns off the foreign aid spigot.

With Donald Trump pushing the fossil fuel economy (and cozying up to Qatar and Mohammad "Mister Bone Saw" bin Salman) oil will continue propping up authoritarianism for some time to come.

Look, there is no mystery about Palestinian nationalism. There was no reason for it to exist before 1900, and its emergence from 1948 was inevitable. You suddenly have millions of people who are no longer citizens in their own country -- the TURKS were never this bad -- what are they going to do but demand independence?

Except the Arab Palestinian movement only dates to the 1960s. Why was there no push for an Arab Palestinian state when Egypt and Jordan controlled Gaza, Judea, and Samaria?

Because Egypt and Jordan did not treat them like foreigners in their own land.

Then the perfect solution would for Egypt and Jordan to resettle the Palestinian refugees within their own borders like Israel did when it took in Jewish refugees from around the Middle East.

There is no good reason why the Pals should accept that. They want to live where they always have -- but live free. Not an unreasonable demand at all.

The refusal of Palestinian refugees to move twenty miles to resettle in a friendly neighboring country exposes Palestinianism for what it really is. It's never been about peace or justice. "Free Palestine" has always been a genocidal movement to eradicate the only majority-Jew state in the world.

One alternative plan of the Zionists was to create a Jewish state somewhere in Africa. If that had been done, no one in the MENA would be concerned to eradicate it. (A lot of Africans would be.)

Colonizing Africa is more of a Muslim thing. They colonized North Africa at the same time they overran the Holy Land, and they still are expanding in the Horn of Africa. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s own father took part in the Somali invasion of Ethiopia.
