Who Is? What Is? How Is? Where Is?

1. Name the German scientist who discovered x-ray.

2. This Italian artist often painted hair in a rich red tone.

3. Name the German socialist who collaborated with Karl Marx in helping complete "Das Boot".

4. These twin brothers , from Belgium , became famous for their balloon ascents and bathysphere descents. What is their surname?

Okay, have to admit, I had to look these up, and am not even sure I'm right then. Heehee!

But...

2. Is this Dante Gabriel Rossetti? He's the only Italian painter, from that time period, who seemed to favor red heads. It didn't say that's what he was known for anywhere, but from his paintings, he has quite a few.....

4. I found 2 sets of balloonists who were twins. I think you are looking for August and Jean-Luc Picard (heehee - star trek fans!) But, one place said they took off from Belgium, but that they are actually Swiss.

And just an interesting fact that the inventors of the hot air balloon, or one of the first to fly in them, at least, were twin brothers also...

So... is that cheating?

Okay...

I have to ask... on the artist... I think you may have the wrong Titian... I came across one, Tiziano Vecellio, AKA Titian, who was from way earlier than the 1800's... closer to the 1500's, but he painted redheads...

Titian Ramsey Peale appears to do more nature paintings... birds, butterflies, etc... but I could be wrong...

NP - I was just looking them up on Google, so after I posted that, I had a horrible fear maybe I just hadn't looked far enough... LOL...

Do you mind if we look them up - or should this be completely from our own knowledge?

Bad Guys

EASY......

In 1818 Mary Shelley , wife of the poet , wrote the forerunner of all "monster" stories with her tale of a monster created by a young medical student. Name it.

The F.B.I. shot down this Public Enemy Number 1 outside a movie theater. Name him.

Robert Louis Stevenson wrote a novel about a doctor with a split personality. Name the hideous person and the good doctor.

This gangster , enriched by prohibition days , was nicknamed Scarface. Name him.

Saint Marks is in Rome, Italy

The Mosque of St. Sophia or the Hagia Sofia is in Istanbul. It was actually one of the first large scale Christian churchs built by Constantine. Later converted to a mosque. Those classics classes in college finally paid off. :)

The Duomo Florence, Italy

The Escorial is in Spain

There are to many Omar's in the Muslim world, I don't know.
