"Joe the Plumber has now had more press conferences than Sarah Palin."

LMAO!

A while ago I postulated that she wasn't smart enough or competent enough to be Governor or Mayor. She must be her husband's or some other groups puppet I suggested.

So when the investigation into her stated that her husband has "extraordinary" access to the governorship, I thought BINGO.

Now what group might be involved? I dunno maybe that, "We hate America, let's be separate," group that her husband has been involved with?

Talk about ties to terrorist? This is just a little bit closer donja think? Yet, hardly anyone talks about this. Why?

I can't remember ever being as sick and tired of the BS this close to the election before. All of them are getting on my last nerve. Even in the local races.

A friend sent me this. Thought it was funny. In fact, if the whole thing weren't so incredibly important and scary, it would be funny at this point.

Because no one cares about 15,000 crazy Alaskans who would probably would be a million times better off with their own country with all the resources they have. Resources the faggot ass tree huggers won't let us harvest even though the footprint in the frozen tundra would be the size of a postage stamp on a football field. For intellectuals you people are a little fucking slow.

I wonder how they'd feel if we sold their sorry asses back to Russia.

For Teddy Roosevelt fans you bold conservationists of this great land are a little freaking obtuse. I don't think "drill baby drill" was his approach.

I wouldn't care. They would pepper the landscape will oil wells and the global price would go down. And if we got fair market value we could finance cradle to grave free health care for 150 years.

And then it would run out. And?

I know wind is like this hairy fairy joke, but how long does it take for a turbine, what's the wait on that? 10-12 years?

You'd be twenty to thirty years older before there was any recovery from drilling begun next week. And the impact on the global price of a yearly production that's equal to only a few days of Saudi output would be nil.

Drilling in ANWR to improve our oil dependency situation is like trying to balance the family budget by retracting your 10 year old's two dollar allowance.

Twenty to thirty years if we dig with shovels perhaps. Your party already caved on offshore drilling. I would have done Alaska first.

Yeah let's concentrate ALL the job development we need in Alaska. What a great idea.

Good high paying union jobs.

MWY,
Even the most pessimistic sources say 10 years. Experts say 3 to 5. I don't know where you came up with 30 years. Out of your ass I imagine.

What if there was no way we could get national health care. Not in 10 years. Would that be an argument not to do it? I think not.

WD, the commercial fishing industry is usually, every year, killing itself. It's dangerous, and hard. It pays incredibly well. It recruits on every college campus known to man, BEGGING for people, even in this climate.

They are going to have trouble filling those jobs simply because they're in Alaska. They're going to have to stop the prodigious flow of Gov't teat to that state before locals will fill them all. If not, people are only going to move up there if they have exhausted every
other
option.

Whereas, someone like my spouse would be eager, I'm sure, to take an IT job with a wind energy development wing of Xcel energy or a new Federal agency for that. As will a lot of people in the midwest, the Green Mountains, all over the lower 48. With moving air.

Now, if you want to talk about Sierra Club/Audubon objections to wind power being freaking stupid, I'm all over it.

I'm also pro-nuclear, oddly enough. I think it's an overlooked piece of the overall strategy, and it can be used to great effect. I know, I know, the horrors of storage - but we're stuck between shitty and shittier when it comes to this problem - like the economy, there are going to be some bitter tastes that everyone is going to have to deal with. I prefer this one.

Storage and safety have come a fair bit since 3 mile Island and I already would go up if Prairie Island melted down. I manage the sleepless nights, Science good, all that.

From "The Truth About America’s Energy: Big Oil Stockpiles Supplies and Pockets Profits" A Special Report by the Committee on Natural Resources
Majority Staff, June 2008 United States House of Representatives

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that it will
require 8 to 10 years after opening ANWR before oil is produced from any new
leases. Furthermore, it would be 20 years after opening ANWR before oil
production reached its peak of only 780,000 barrels per day. Production at
that level would start to drop within a short time.

According to the EIA, opening ANWR would reduce U.S. crude oil
imports, but not until 2022-2026 and only by a few percentage points. Further,
it would not significantly increase total world oil production, nor would it
significantly affect world oil prices.

Eight to ten years to the first drops, but twenty years to peak production, a production level that is a fraction of what is produced every day in the middle east.

Middle East and Venezuelan oil is controlled not by market forces but by a cartel. They are meeting now to figure out how to get the price raised before the Venezuelan government collapses.

If we only get 32 million gallons a day out of Alaska that sounds pretty good to me. And we don't really know what's up there until we drill. Why not do everything? Build 100 nukes. France went nuclear and has the cleanest air in Europe.

Wind power concerns me until we have a way of storing the energy. As it stands now you have to have 100% back up because as we know, some days Mother Wind doesn't blow.

Clearly, you don't live here. :)

Why not do everything? Because if you take the money it would take to drill and get your first refined trickle in 20 years and put it into "how to store wind power" believe me, we'd have that. Or maybe we should sit with our thumbs up our ass till we are left buying that technology from India or Europe or something?

It won't cost the government a dime. It's a money maker. I imagine they'll get lease money from day one, a pretty good chunk of income tax from the additional workers, and revenue from the oil itself.

Look what Sarah did. It's not the government lining the pockets of Alaskans, its the natural gas companies. If someone wants to drill off of Georgia, I think we should get a piece of the pie as well.

What will the oil company get from all this investment? Evil profits down the road when oil starts flowing.

appropriate

The BDSM section is the right place for this thread because if McCain - Palin get elected it will be like getting fucked in the ass without any lube.

Naw, I thought it was because McCain and Palin are considered white while Obama is not and has a funny name.

I'm pretty sure that's the real reason people focus so much on his possible ties to terrorism and not on the McCrazy Twins possible ties which are MUCH closer.

On and also the fact that the GOP side tends to attack while the Dem side tends to let it roll off their backs and stick to the facts.

BTW, I am not an intellectual. Never have been but thanks for the compliment in thinking so.

:D

Voting for Obama makes you intellectual. Adds a good 50 points to your IQ.

I even liked some things he was saying today. But can you really trust a politician? I remembered Bill Clinton promising a middle class tax break that never came. It's not a tax cut to give 40% of the people who pay no federal taxes a check. It's buying votes with welfare. A couple making 500,000 a year with two kids pays 141,000 in federal taxes today. Add on state and local taxes, social insecurity, property taxes, sale taxes and all the little fees you have pay don't you think it's enough? Then you are going to turn around and bribe 95 percent of the people with someone else's money? And why 250,000 dollars? Shouldn't everyone making over 80,000 pay in a little more to help pay for this trillion dollars of new spending he wants? Someone making 249,999 can't afford to pay a little more?

Wait and see what percentage are paying less taxes after 3 years if Obama is elected.

Kind of like how being from New York makes you an elitist. :p

Yeah with a bit of cia skullduggery and perhaps funding of a rightwing terrorist paramilitary force(ie nicaragua) US oil companies will be bleeding venuzela dry again.
